Historians will spend eternity trying to explain why Donald Trump and his administration turned against Ukraine and Europe but one fact is clear: on 12 February 2025 the post Cold War era ended, and the post WWII international system came to a grinding halt. President Trump spoke at length to President Putin and they agreed to start negotiations immediately without Ukraine or the EU. Subsequent events were no less surprising: an anti-European tirade by US Vice President JD Vance at the Munich Security Conference, a US demand of Ukraine to sign away most of its rare earth resources, a first US-Russia meeting in Riyadh and President Trump accusing Ukraine of starting the Russian war of aggression against it, and calling President Zelensky a dictator. Europe, and many other parts of the world, is still reeling from these developments but it is undoubtedly Ukraine that is in the eye of the storm: from trying to deny it a say over its own destiny to attempting to impose elections upon it, and from cutting defence assistance to undermining funding to its civil society, the Ukrainian reality has changed rapidly, and for the worse. To understand this reality better Ilana Bet-El is joined by two leaders of civil society in Ukraine: Olena Tregub Secretary General of NAKO - the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission in Ukraine, and Inna Pidluska Deputy Executive Director of the International Renaissance Foundation. There can be no doubt the world changed on 20th of January 2025. Election results should never be a foregone conclusion, and democratic upsets are a healthy feature of the system. Nonetheless, when the incumbent pro-Russian governing party in Georgia declared itself the winner of national elections on 26 October, with some 54% of the vote, there was a massive outcry: polls had predicted a win for the opposition. This is a huge setback for the cause of democracy in the state — and the region, given that just a week earlier, a referendum on European integration in Moldova had ended with a tiny margin of victory for the pro-EU camp when a near landslide had been predicted.The tentacles of autocracy are clearly reaching far and wide, tightening their grip upon the states surrounding Ukraine and bordering Europe — threatening both. Est-ce le creux de la vague ? Je me pose un certain nombre de questions suite aux événements qui se sont passés récemment. Il me semble voir un décalage. Un décalage entre les passionnés qui créent, proposent des contenus magiques et l'affichage parisien des rencontres en présentiel qui n'en sont pas vraiment. Je ne parle pas là des mauvaises langues qui critiquent car, pour être honnête avec vous, je n'en ai pas vu ou rencontrés. J'ai trouvé Gabriel Macé très honnête lorsqu'il dit ouvertement à Thibault de Saint-Maurice (le fondateur du Paris Podcast Festival) qu'il n'envoyait plus de candidatures car il savait qu'il n'allait pas être sélectionné. Je sais que beaucoup de créateurs sont dans ce même cas. Les arrêts de structures importantes du podcast, avec les actifs qui seront certainement cédés, les événements organisés Pro ou Grand Public (où est d'ailleurs le Grand Public ?) à Paris et à Paris (oui, c'est une répétition volontaire), les échanges qui ne se font pas lors de ces événements, en dehors de ceux qui se pavanent après avoir été honorés d'un prix en or, en argent ou en bronze, ou en le payant… je n'ai pas ressenti de vie et de plaisir comme j'ai pu le ressentir les années précédentes. Sommes-nous au creux de la vague ? Cela fait plusieurs années que c'est compliqué pour tous. Et ce creux est bien entendu naturel, nous le savons tous. C'est la courbe normale après l'envolée du COVID et ne me comprenez pas mal, ce n'est pas catastrophique. Loin de là. C'est juste dommage que ces événements ne mettent pas plus de vie et de réseautage entre acteurs et visiteurs. Oui, il y avait les pince-fesses des Syndicats et Clubs privés de podcasts où chacun joue sa carte. Oui, on peut se rencontrer si on se connaît. Oui, il y avait « Podcast Sauvage » qui a posé ses gaules pour animer le Foyer, dont la librairie féministe n'a d'ailleurs toujours pas retrouvé le carton de Podcast Magazine mis en vente l'année dernière… raison pour laquelle nous n'étions pas sur les tables de cette librairie éphémère que nous avions lancée avec le POD à l'époque, lors d'un des premiers PPF. Bref, un peu désabusé mais toujours motivé

But my guest today takes an approach to fat loss that's awesomely simple, and even more effective because of that fact.His name is Dan John and he's a strength coach, a competitive thrower and weightlifter, and the author of many books about health and fitness, including Fat Loss Happens on Monday. Today on the show, Dan talks about the importance of not only picking a specific number where you want your weight to be, but enriching that goal so that it lights up multiple parts of your brain. We then discuss how and how often to measure your weight, how to deal with setbacks as you shed the pounds, and Dan's uncomplicated approach to eating. Dan also explains why he recommends drinking hot water with lemon, practicing intermittent fasting, and working out in a fasted state. We go over the “Easy Strength” exercise program he suggests for fat loss, and why these short weightlifting sessions are always followed by a walk.
