182 RSA clubs recently voted to decide the future of the 108-year-old organisation. A new constitution has been approved for the RSA - aimed at modernising and centralising power. Dozens of clubs have since threatened to leave if the constitution is passed, with the worry that the change would undermine the fundamental grassroots foundations. RSA chair Rhys Jones says this vote has sparked plenty of division within the organisation. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this short episode we will again be visiting Lower House farm, Llandrindod. This time we hear from Dr Rhys Jones, Lecturer from the Department of Life Sciences at Aberystwyth University. Rhys is originally from North Wales, and was raised on an upland beef and sheep farm. He still takes a keen interest in the family farm as well as wider Agriculture issues. His research interests lie within the field of veterinary parasitology, and he's particularly interested in developing sustainable parasite control techniques for livestock producers.    Rhys discusses how Rob Lyons has been part of a wider project that includes 16 farms that are looking at Liver Fluke. With liver fluke populations rapidly becoming resistant to certain drug treatments, alternative control strategies which focus on infection avoidance through grazing and land management must be utilised on farms. However, for these measures to be effective, it is imperative that we can accurately identify liver fluke infection risk areas within farms and fields.

Daw Rhys yn wreiddiol o Ogledd Cymru, ac fe'i magwyd ar fferm bîff a defaid yr ucheldir. Mae'n dal i gymryd diddordeb mawr yn y fferm deuluol yn ogystal â materion Amaethyddol ehangach. Mae ei ddiddordebau ymchwil ym maes parasitoleg filfeddygol, ac mae ganddo ddiddordeb arbennig mewn datblygu technegau rheoli parasitiaid cynaliadwy ar gyfer cynhyrchwyr da byw. Mae Rhys yn trafod sut mae Rob Lyons wedi bod yn rhan o brosiect ehangach sy'n cynnwys 16 fferm sy'n edrych ar Lyngyr yr Iau. Wrth i boblogaethau llyngyr yr iau ddatblygu ymwrthedd yn gyflym i rai triniaethau cyffuriau, mae'n rhaid defnyddio strategaethau rheoli amgen sy'n canolbwyntio ar osgoi haint trwy bori a rheoli tir ar ffermydd. Fodd bynnag, er mwyn i'r mesurau hyn fod yn effeithiol, mae'n hollbwysig ein bod yn gallu nodi'n gywir yr ardaloedd lle mae risg o haint llyngyr yr iau ar ffermydd a chaeau.

Guest friend this week is the legendary David Rhys-Jones, always a good chinwag. Aside from a catchup telling old footy stories, David is raising awareness of Prader-Willi Syndrome, David's son lives with PWS. You can find out more here, and for just 15 bucks buy a ticket in the PWS raffle, major prize a luxury trip to Bali. David talks us through a bit about PWS, which gets pretty much zero government support, so if you can spare a few bucks it's a ripping cause.Somehow, in amongst that, Dane manages to plug Tastebuds with Dane Swan. How does he tie it in? No idea. He just did. We also get a Swan FC update following his trip to the Sunshine Coast last weekend where he kicked a goal and had 25 touches. In the thirds, but hey it's pretty good. Dane reckons he has found his place in the thirds.Given David's history in Tassie we get his thoughts on whether the Tassie AFL team will succeed. And we ask him if he regrets any of the whacks he handed out on the field. There is one, he tells us who on the pod. And he tells a great story of his battle with Greg Williams, when he played with a broken jaw, and later when Diesel came to Carlton for the 1992 season.David talks about the brutal pre-seasons back in his day, which leads to him and Dane comparing 'sprays' from coaches. Wallsy was 'brutal' according to David, and Dane tells a couple of stories about Mick Malthouse being a bit out of control calling him 'an angry man'.Ralphy has some homework for the team, and for you, which is to watch this video of 'Scam Cam' on the Footy Show. David gives the back story to how it happened.David played with, and on, the legendary Bruce Doull and tells a couple of stories about him. And he tells us about his final game against West Coast in Perth, and how he forgot to tell Carlton that he was retiring. We chat about Dustin Martin and the criticism he's copping at the moment. Dane reckons people should lay off and enjoy Dusty while he's playing, David says that not a single Tigers support would be bagging Dusty, and Dane thinks that he might be the greatest Tiger of all time. And we talk concussions, and given they weren't measured in David's day, how he addressed them when he had what he thought was one.A great guest friend today in David Rhys-Jones, and don't forget to slip a few bucks and buy a raffle ticket at the Prader-Willi Syndrome site here.Follow us, share the pod with a mate, and support us if you feel the urge. In episode 168 of The Just Checking In Podcast we checked in with Sicarius McGrath. Sicarius McGrath is a former gang member and street-level arms dealer from Merseyside. He became involved in gangs when he was 15 years old and went to prison when he was 21 for the attempted murder of a man in Birkenhead. Whilst in prison, Sicarius watched an ITV drama series called ‘Little Boy Blue' which was based on the real life story of the murder of Rhys Jones, an 11-year-old boy who was caught in the crossfire of a gang-related shootout whilst going about his day. Sicarius marks this moment as the turning point for his life and when the penny dropped for him to want to turn his life around and stop young boys and men from going down the path he did. When he came out of prison, he started OCG Solutions UK, an organisation which runs youth rehabilitation programmes to tackle organised crime, young boys caught up in county line drug operations and the victims of grooming by older men into these gangs. In this episode we discuss his journey into criminality, prison, redemption and how he's turned his life around. The Bloody Bible Podcast

In this episode, Em and Caz shine some light on biblical figures who are “disappeared” when their victimization and violation are overlooked or ignored by readers of the Bible. They focus particularly on biblical narratives of genocide, colonialism, wartime rape, and sex trafficking, making connections with more recent examples of these various forms of violence. They also take a deep dive into “missing white woman syndrome,” exploring the ways that some victims of violence - both biblical and contemporary - are “disappeared” by virtue of their being painted as less “worthy” of attention than others.Find us on Twitter @BloodyBiblePod, on Facebook @TheBloodyBiblePodcast, and on Instagram @bloodybiblepodcast. Giles Rhys Jones Interview | Addressing the World

The Safety Doc Podcast

Giles Rhys Jones, Chief Marketing Officer for what3words, was interviewed for this episode of The Safety Doc Podcast. Dr. Perrodin contacted Giles after recently learning about what3words and instantly realizing its potential to recast swaths of school safety protocols. Giles and David discuss how w3w has interfaced with, and improved, rescue platforms and the potential ways the system might benefits schools. With 55 million students attending school daily in the  United States, w3w could immediately have a profound impact on improving school safety. Giles shares the fun story of a comparison of two persons assigned to deliver packages to addresses. One was provided traditional mapping options and the other with what3words. The person with w3w not only delivered the packages faster, and without having to seek clarifying directions, but also was happier with the activity! WHAT IS WHAT3WORDS? what3words (yes, all small letters) is a really simple way to talk about location as the company's geospatial engineering team divided the world into a grid of 3m x 3m squares and assigned each one a unique 3 word address. It means anyone can accurately find any location and share it more quickly, easily and with less ambiguity than any other system. The service can be used via the free mobile app or online map. It can also be built into any other app, platform or website, with just a few lines of code. You might not be aware of the software, but it's already integrated into several everyday platforms. For instance, car navigation systems are shifting to the precision of what3words. MERCEDES-BENZ USES W3W IN ITS VEHICLES. Mercedes-Benz is the first car company to integrate what3words into its in-car navigation systems. Drivers with compatible models can now say or type in a 3 word address to get directions to a precise 3m x 3m location, anywhere in the world. The adoption of what3words shows the company's commitment to a premium and intuitive customer experience and sees Mercedes-Benz leading the way in destination input. SOLVING AN INDUSTRY-WIDE PROBLEM. In a recent survey of new car owners, JD Power found that car navigation systems being difficult to use and inaccurate is one of the most frequently reported problems, along with voice recognition issues. The automotive industry has struggled to improve these features, and a significant reason is that the world's street addressing systems are incompatible with modern navigation needs, and especially voice input.‘Street addresses were just not built for voice input' says Chris Sheldrick, CEO and co-founder of what3words. ‘15 Ammanford Road and 50 Ammanford Road are hard for a voice system to distinguish between, and many road names aren't unique. There are 14 different Church Roads in London, and 632 Juarez streets in Mexico City. Street addresses can also be difficult to pronounce correctly. The town of Godmanchester, is actually pronounced ‘Gumster'. Mercedes-Benz is known for innovation, so it's no surprise to us that it is the first automotive company to integrate our system into their vehicles'. SCHOOL SAFETY AND 3-WORD ADDRESSES. David identified several benefits that what3words would bring to existing school safety practices. The first is the ability to map an entire campus. If a student is hiding in unfamiliar area of a campus due to an intruder, that student could use the w3w app to convey his or her specific location to emergency responders. Dr. Perrodin's second point is carried forward from his previous podcast in that what3words solves the age-old problem of what to do if an evacuation site or re-unification site is not available due to a myriad of reasons, including a larger perimeter established by law enforcement that encompasses those pre-determined locations. W3W efficiently allows for sharing of the evacuation or re-unification site as part of “working the problem” by authorities. It prevents people from locking in on a sub-optimal outcome of heading to a location that might not even be available as dictated by the dynamic context and situation. FOLLOW DR.
