Comedian, Philosopher, Joy Sparker & World's Worst Motivational Speaker Rodney Norman joins us to talk about comedy's powerful role in the healing process, the many benefits of making a fool of yourself and how nobody is really paying that much attention to you anyway so you may as well go do the thing you love doing. Formally educated as a philosopher, Rodney Norman found his way to stand up comedy 25 years ago and has been featured in the Boston Comedy Festival and was the Winner of the Rhode Island Comedy Festival. Rodney firmly believes that finding ways to laugh at ourselves, our foibles and even our traumas is one of the most powerful ways we can take the charge out of those things and get on with the healing process, and back to enjoying life - which according to him, is the point of the whole thing. His character Leonard, The World's Worst Motivational Speaker, is unassuming and intentionally unpolished, delivers deep wisdom in a mumbly-fumbly way that has a widespread appeal - many of his videos going viral within days of being posted. Chances are good, if you have been on the internet at all in the past year, that you have seen one of Rodney's videos. There is homework at the end of this episode, so listen out for that and if you want even more, have a poke around the Creative Genius Patreon - there is lots of really supportive bonus content there - homework, downloads and this week a gorgeous little Guided Meditation about Trust (which is also available for purchase for non Patreon supporters) Be sure to stick around to the end - Rodney's character Leonard answers our billboard question for us today! So many nuggets of wisdom in this episode. WHAT WE TALK ABOUT-Rodney's secret to accessing and unleashing creative genius-The ridiculously simple thing we all have in us that would let us be creative geniuses, and why nobody wants to do it-How we often use our past difficulties as an excuse or way out of growing and how we can begin to use comedy to rewire our brains, heal trauma and truly enjoy life-The hard truth about the learning process and what to do about it. -Why it's never too soon to look for the funny side of your situation. Even in the midst of grief. -The secret to having everything in your life open up, according to Rodney. -The thing he noticed after 25 years of doing stand up that helped him let go of needing to get it right when it comes to performing-Get out there. Be stupid, look weird. Perfection is a turn off anyway. -How we often use our past difficulties as an excuse or way out of growing and how we can begin to use comedy to rewire our brains, heal trauma and truly enjoy life-And we play you his favourite viral clip (and mine!)

Does God have a sense of humor? What is the role of comedy within society? Craig and Jason Mock are joined by comedian Rodney Norman for a fun(sometimes funny) conversation on comedy, politics, and Christianity. In this episode we are reminded of the importance and the power of joy and laughter. God wants us to be happy, to love one another and be joyous, but politics and fear can get in the way. Rodney helps us remember to laugh and to take life less seriously through comedy and a never ending curiosity. Bryce Prescott joins me for Episode 30. He is the 4th guest I’ve had on the podcast that has completed #75HARD, a program for mental toughness and discipline created by Andy Frisella. This was a fun conversation and Bryce shared some valuable life lessons about “success”. Bryce has been in the podcast space for many years. He is a podcast producer and produces a new show that I enjoy called The Sean and Sax Show. He also hosts his own podcast called The Rules of Rebellion Podcast. I really enjoyed his latest episode with Rodney Norman. When I started my podcast he was very helpful in giving me direction on ideas for equipment, audio recording software and how to distribute it. Bryce has a great sense of humor. He performs stand up comedy at Wiseguys Comedy Club in Utah and has opened for some big names in the comedy world. I’ve been watching his journey over the past few years and have been able to relate to him in several ways like leaving the Mormon religion and searching for true success in life. Grab a beverage of your choice and enjoy the show. You can find Bryce on Facebook and Instagram @bryceprescott www.brycepresott.com www.rulesoftherebellion.com

my intro:Isaac MillerFounder of The Daily ArchetypeIn the early 2000s Isaac was trained as a Pentecostal minister. After that spiritual side was taken to the extreme, he mostly departed that path and became a successful financial services entrepreneur. Eventually, the materialistic path was taken to the extreme. In 2017, before he knew what he was doing, Isaac decided to unite the opposites (spirit and matter). Since then, he has been on a relentless self study to find the truth, and help others do the same: He studies the works of Carl Jung and others. He was having trouble finding a place for those new to the Archetypal journey, to come together. In 2019 he started The Daily Archetype group. Since then it has expanded to several other media platforms with thousands of members, and is now a fast growing weekly podcast. He aims to continue to bring people from all walks of life of life to find themselves on the archetypal journey. If you want to see the interview in raw zoom call video form:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTif5OMlIKsThis is an episode I did with Dr. Lahab you probably haven't heard yet,https://open.spotify.com/episode/04QvfmyHpxNtYLKVIgZL0B?si=kjgDJAVZSRexsc0Yga10SgThere are more calls coming to youtube before they come to the podcast. This one is of me talking about books I want to get into in 2021https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAykKU2JXpYIf you want to see my get my MBTI typing by the blind typologist:https://www.youtube.com/watch?fbclid=IwAR10DLpsMqlKQJ8OTatZyRDUZDNQGGVG7_NlTxUJtqFpNSDypxCV2Xdrgak&v=Z5L8On7IBh4&feature=youtu.be These are the two I recorded with Boonn recently (available on all platforms)https://open.spotify.com/episode/660UA6PndgeFtQcnQ5nqlv?si=fbqebLS7Ql-F4KoDHKDZrghttps://open.spotify.com/episode/4WKLcQtiCScaDomrSnT1zQ?si=SIVUESPESVyoXWRm9ryw3wThe new website! https://www.dailyarchetype.com/I will also have a discussion premiering next week onhttps://www.facebook.com/ArchiveOwl/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSRV1qruhGW5iTbGjGpdNAQJoin the discussion on the FB grouphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/dailyarchetype/Also DailyArchetype on IGPlease check out what's in the works on Youtube and you can also see some of my old live chats if you like.
