A Mentor often offers (free) service in the form of their time as a form of 'give back' or community service in a way that guides, advises, and sometimes counsels someone new to their specific industry. This is often done in-person, by phone, or over email (one-on-one or in a group) or through their (paid) books, podcasts, and mentorship programs -- Mentorship is expected to be FREE, but yes, sometimes compensation is expected and appreciated! - However, - A Coach or a (paid) coaching program (which is what new entrepreneurs are often seeking) usually offers teachings, trainings, and instructions in specialized areas (like money, marketing, mindset, ministry, manifestation, etc). Mentors (usually older when dealing with The Small Business Administration (SBA) and/or SCORE are often retired executives (who may not have been entrepreneurs) and don't provide specialized teachings or may not be well-versed or extremely knowledgeable in your specific area of entrepreneurial expertise (like digital marketing, social media marketing, etc.). It's not impossible to find an older mentor's help with these, but it's very rare -- trust me, I've looked through the databases...recently! All of that to say, know what area(s) of your business you're seeking help in {and be willing to invest time/money}, and seek out a Mentor (or a Coach) in that specific area of your business -- someone who has had SUCCESS in that specific area(s) in THEIR business endeavors -- otherwise, you'll either land on a general 'business mentor' (who may not be willing to reveal all the "secrets" and shortcuts they took to success -OR- the information they share "used to work back in THEIR day" P.s. - NO ONE is going to mentor you long-term, for FREE on how to build YOUR money-making business idea(s) -- without expecting SOMETHING in return (like payment or a portion of your company)...Also, My last SCORE Mentor still had shag carpet from the 1970's, so...Click 'Play' to find out more about the Black Woman Christian Life Coach Certification Self-Study Training online ::::... In this episode, Jacob shares many stories from his upbringing that have led him to where he is today - running a non profit, a coaching business and a media company. Jacob shares the struggles that he faced along the way and the turning point in his life when he made a shift and didn't look back. Jacob made a list of the things that he couldn't live without - extreme sports, traveling, and helping people, and he found a way to build a life around them. This episode is packed full of inspiration. Jacob hopes to change the way people view skateboarders and after hearing this episode, you might just ponder the idea that skateboarders can do incredible work and also skate. Jacob Jenkins is a skateboarder and entrepreneur born in Charlotte, currently living in Phoenix. He moved to Arizona after backpacking around Central America for seven months and created Now Evolving Skateboarding Worldwide, a 501c3 nonprofit that focuses on building influential leaders through skateboarding while donating skateboards to foster care and feeding families in need. His inspiration came from seeing so many people around the world struggle and from the deep connection he had made with locals through the love of skateboarding. He made a commitment to himself that he would go back, build skateparks, and make the world a better place. He has donated over 100 skateboards through his nonprofit to local foster care and children in need around the world. The process is simple, when you buy a skateboard, NESW will donate one. He has also hosted the first skate competition in the Galapagos Islands, events in Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Arizona. But, his proudest accomplishment has been feeding families in need, consisting of a thanksgiving food drive where volunteers get together to deliver thanksgiving feasts to at-risk families throughout the holidays.Follow Jacob on InstagramGet a skateboard = donate a skateboard

Tad Stevens impresses me as a marketing strategy guru, He is fantastic at online advertising! He is a SCORE Mentor. He puts his money, where his mouth is with an incredible money back guarantee. He does exceptional high-ticket funnels in 15 days. Help me welcome Tad, it is great to have you with us today. Ken: So, Tad, everyone wants an amazing life but not everyone gets there, what do you think it takes to get to an amazing life? Tad: That is an interesting question because just a while back I was trying to answer that in a way that honestly, I could deliver to my audience that made sense and had a catchy acronym. I never got it to the catchy acronym but I came up with “FEAD” That stands for focus, empathy, articulation, and decisiveness. What I've seen in my coaching, my mentoring over the last several years and with me. Is if those four things aren't in alignment, then you generally don't get there. Most of the people that are doing those four aren't thinking about it. They are not consciously thinking, I got to be focused today, they just know. I got to be focused and I got a care about the people that I am selling to so I really understand what their needs are so I can provide that solution. Then I got to be able to articulate it. If I can't articulate my offer no one will take me up on it because they don't know what I offer. Then I have to be decisive. I have to make moves right or wrong. I got to move. Ken: It is so easy to get caught up in what's new and glamorous right I mean there is all over the place. Tad: Shiny Object syndrome is alive and well. Ken: So, Tad what skills or talents do you have that most people don't know about? Tad: I made a lot of mistakes, one of my favorite quotes is and I'll probably butcher it but it goes something to the effect of: I have no special talents or innate talents, I'm just passionately curious. What I have found in my interviews on my podcast on my show. Cuz, I ask people a similar question. I found that people that are successful by their definition have passion for what they are doing. It is what gets them out of bed in the morning. It's not the money, the money is important, but it's what they are doing. They really like it. In fact, I was talking to a guy yesterday who has a $100,000 coaching program. It takes a year, you sign up, he offers progress payments but it's 100 Grand. That is a niche audience and he was talking to one of his clients and they were asking how much coaching he did online” He said I'm coaching through zoom most of the day, they said “oh man, how can you do that?” The client asked a question which identified that he didn't understand. What the coach was doing and what we were doing would have been work to the client. He didn't know that it was passion and what the coach loves. Ken: Thanks for all that information, where can our listeners go to find you? Tad: They can find my podcast Micro Success Secrets or search any of the major networks and we pop right up. They can also go to our website. Please subscribe to this podcast and leave a rating and review, to help others find this podcast. Also join the Facebook group. You need a conversation-starting elevator pitch for your business.  You need a way to catch the attention of busy people, whether potential investors, customers, employees, and partners.  Without it, you'll lose the chance to engage them further.  Equally bad, you'll spend a lot of time chatting with people who really aren't a good fit.  Lots of people focus on the pitch deck, and that's important (take a listen to our podcast with Chris Banakis on pitch decks).  But if you don't have a "hook" -- a memorable, conversation-producing elevator pitch, you'll never need a pitch deck. John Fisher, founder & CEO of Rethinking IT and SCORE Mentor, joins The Savvy Entrepreneur radio show to talk about why you need a good elevator pitch.  He also walks through the elements of building your business elevator pitch and tips for making it memorable. Latest episode of Nonprofit Biz Talk™ Nothing significant happens in a nonprofit organization without well thought out and implemented programs. Programs are the lifeblood of every nonprofit organization. It is one of the most important markers for the good done in the community you serve. Moreover, it is one of the areas where funders determine if the organization is worthy of being funded. Let’s listen to Nonprofit Success Strategist, Tykeysha “Ty” Boone break it done for us. ABOUT THE GUEST: The Nonprofit Success Strategist, Tykeysha “Ty” Boone, MPH, CNC, is a wife and home-schooling mom with three children; serves her community as a published author, speaker, volunteer SCORE Mentor, and nonprofit success strategist. With nearly 20 years of experience in academic and clinical research, community program planning, and nonprofit management and development, Ty has a reputation for helping people secure and sustain nonprofit status without the traditional headache or hassle, while equipping them with the tools necessary to increase their capacity for nonprofit success. Ty is a Certified Nonprofit Consultant and holds formal degrees and training in psychology, public health, and community health education. Ty’s work in the academic/research institution setting proved pivotal in helping to establish and sustain relationships between the university and its community partners. It was during this work that Ty observed the desire of community-based organizations to reap the benefits that came along with having major partners or securing substantial amounts of funding. However, many of them either lacked the capacity or were not properly positioned to do so. As a result of wanting to work more closely with the community, Ty became department director for a community-based AIDS service organization. Under her leadership, the organization reached new and improved levels of community outreach, solidified relations with organizations such as the United Way, more successfully diversified funding efforts, and developed new partnerships and increased capacity, which ultimately resulted in millions in funding from federally recognized agencies including CDC and SAMHSA. Ty is the owner and chief consultant at Ty Boone Enterprises.
