Dave Mays was once looked at as the Michael Jordan of hip-hop publications, and… he's back! As a 19-year-old sophomore at Harvard, he founded The Source magazine, which began as a monthly newsletter, eventually becoming one of the world's longest-running rap/hip-hop magazines.Mays had a vision to put hip-hop on the forefront of all genres and succeeded immensely turning his newsletter into a full-fledged publication. That ride ended in 2005, when he and Raymond “Benzino” Scott were forced out in a dispute with investors.Understanding today's needs, Mays returns with Breakbeat Podcasting network, which will host several culturally diverse podcasts with a variety of hosts. Mays also hosts his podcast, “The Dave Mays Show.”Breakbeat will also produce docuseries, starting with the “Unsigned Hype,” a popular series in The Source magazine that introduced several hip-hop and R&B acts. He also plans a series on Gangster Disciples leader Larry Hoover.

Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast we have and we promise you, one of the most unique, fascinating, jaw dropping, emotional and sometimes shocking interviews we've ever had on the podcast. Today we are talking to Grammy-winning musician/composer/vocalist/violinist Lili Haydn, whose sophomore album from Opium Moon Night and Day is up for another Grammy next month. She's also a composer, has recorded six solo albums and performed with everyone from Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, Herbie Hancock, Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn, Roger Waters, The Jayhawks, Tom Petty and Parliament/Funkadelic to name just a few. Talking to Lili was frankly, unlike anything we have covered before on any episode. Lili and host Josh Mills talked for a long time which is why this is a two-part episode. There was just too much amazing stuff, we couldn't cut any of it. We talked about her comedian/author/writer mother Lotus Wienstock, a free spirit who not only was engaged to Lenny Bruce but became one of the beloved comedians of her era. She was a trail blazer and influential stand-up comedian and was loved and respected by contemporaries like Richard Pryor, Jay Leno, Bill Maher, Sandra Bernhard and Jerry Seinfeld, She excelled in her own personal and inclusive brand of comedy that was as much a shared audience experience as stand-up could be. She was the impetus behind The Comedy Store founding “The Belly Room,” where only women could perform, in an era when comedy was essentially a men's only club. Lotus also wrote a fantastic book called The Lotus Position, changed her name twice and had her music recorded by Ritchie Havens. And that's just the beginning. Lili's father David Jove is a mythical figure himself. He was known as “King Acid David” in the mid-sixties due to fact that he was one of the first ever to mass-produce L.S.D. A friend of The Rolling Stones, he may or may not have been directly responsible for infamous “Redlands” bust of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Marianne Faithfull and others in 1967. He was also a colleague of Stanley Owsley The Grateful Dead soundman and L.S.D. aficionado, created two early music video shows including New Wave Theater which mixed punk rock, SCTV and SNL alums and was hosted by enigmatic host Peter Ivers whose unsolved murder we discuss on the episode. There is so much to unpack in our conversation with Lili in part one of this episode that it frankly left us a little spent. And oh yeah, Lili did this interview while quarantining at home with her second bout of Covid, a real trooper. All I can say is, buckle up….this is the Rarified Heir Podcast.

Last week we brought you the Epilogue show for the patch content following the release of Shadowbringers that brings that core story to a close. This week we dive into the content following that, namely patches 5.4, 5.5, and 5.55 that serve as the prologue to the events that we will be experiencing starting November 19th with the release of Endwalker. I feel like we probably know less about what is going to happen going into this expansion than we have previously, but we talk about what takes place and what we do know about the future. We also talk a bit about our mixed feelings regarding specifically the villains that we are going into this expansion with. Topics Discussed Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers Patch 5.4 - Futures Rewritten Patch 5.5 - Death Unto Dawn - Part 1 Patch 5.55 - Death Unto Dawn - Part 2 Discussion of the Endwalker Media Tour
About a month ago we were being nostalgic about that time when we used to do a spoiler show for a Final Fantasy XIV expansion, and then do a final show talking about all of the content that releases after the expansion and leading into the next. We had a few folks that were not caught up and we set a date in time of wanting to record this show on the 30th, just ahead of the Endwalker release mania. Last night we recorded this show and quickly realized there was no way that we were going to cram it all into a single episode. So as a result I bring you the Shadowbringers Epilogue show today covering patches 5.1, 5.2, and the wrap up of the Shadowbringers related story in 5.3. Next week we will bring out the Endwalker Prologue show because really the 5.4, 5.5, and 5.55 content is teeing up the beginning of the next expansion more than resolving anything related to Shadowbringers. I hope you as listeners enjoy both of these shows and it should go without saying that these are going to be full spoiler episodes as we cover everything we can remember that happened in each of the patches.

Grazie come sempre dell'ascolto!Iscriviti al podcast per non perdere le prossime puntate e seguimi su Instagram @elena_cosentino__ per rimanere aggiornata su tutti i miei contenuti :)

What is Yonder? Yonder Cider is made at the production facility in Wenatchee, Washington. Cider are made with both culinary and classic cider varieties that co-owner Caitlin Braam, who is our featured guest in this episode, says is key to the Yonder label. Wenatchee is also the home of Snowdrift Cider Company where Tim Larsen is based and who also co-owns Yonder. Listen to episode 37 featuring Tim Larsen to learn more about his background and why this region of Washington state is so important the apple industry of the Pacific Northwest. Caitlin Braam What is The Source The Source is a separate business, but also based at the Wenatchee site. Sourcing juice is jargon widely used in the cider industry for makers needing to "source" juice from orchards to make cider. The Source provides both customized blends and apples to makers. The Source in Wenatchee The Future of Yonder The future looks bright despite the closing of the Yonder Bar on February 15, 2021. The garage bar for Yonder was set up in Caitlin's own garage in response to Covid. Despite the overwhelming support of neighbors, one anti cider fan was out to close the "garage bar" and the city finally conceded. Later this year (2021) a new Tasting Venue will be opening with ample outdoor seating. This new site is a collaboration with Bale Breaker Brewing and will be located in the Ballard Brewery District of Seattle, which is 15 minutes to the north of the Seattle Fish Market. Expect 6200 feet of outdoor space and a shared Tasting Room inside. Thinking out Yonder of the Box Because of licensing regulations, Caitlin had to secure the licensing for a distillery so that the Bale Breaker and Yonder project could work. Thesource of lightTo understand the meaning of life, firstlywe should know what life is. For human beings, where does birth come from andwhere will death lead us to? To be alive is to be in a state, a state ofceaseless striving forward, of aspiration and hope. Our life is propelled bykarma. To be alive is to create better karma, to make our surroundings moreappealing, and to benefit all being. Everyone has the responsibility and theability to promote himself, his family and the world which he lives in to abetter state. The value of a human being is determined not by his status, fameor wealth, but by what he offers. Constantly keep noble intentions, speak kindwords, do good deeds. Be a seed of virtue. Be the source of light. Here liesthe meaning of our life, also the power of our life.

It all started in Miami with the 2 Live Crew, a group that took hip hop and made it faster, harder, and nastier than anything anyone had heard before. But in 1990 their music was declared legally obscene, and what followed is known today as the most controversial trial in the history of hip hop. This group, this city and this trial changed the course of music history as we know it. Mogul Season 2 features exclusive interviews with Miami legends like Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, Trina, Luke Campbell, Brother Marquis, Mr. Mixx, Walshy Fire, and more.
This episode of Mogul is a tribute to the life and career of Reggie Ossé, who hosted the first season of Mogul. A couple of months after completing the show Reggie was diagnosed with colon cancer and he passed away in December of 2017. We’re going to tell you Reggie’s story — His early days growing up a hip-hop head in Brooklyn, his time as a lawyer representing legendary artists like Jay-Z and Dame Dash, and his reinvention as Combat Jack, hip hop’s flagship podcaster. SCG Seattle winner Greg Mitchell gives us a tournament report, and then SCG Legacy writer Carsten Kotter joins in the discussion. A newly reborn Legacy deck dubbed “Noble Fish” (after the Vintage version) is making a splash. We discuss our thoughts on the deck as a whole and some possible changes.
