Welcome to another episode of the Leading and Growing Your Real Estate Business podcast. I'm your host, Coach James Short, and today we're diving into the science of hiring and how understanding subconscious strengths can transform your business. Our guest is Denis Preston, a Positive Psychologist with over 20 years of experience. Denis helps real estate groups enhance their growth strategies by identifying the hidden subconscious strengths that drive up to 95% of a candidate's behavior before they even step into an interview. Drawing from research by three eminent psychologists, Denis developed a scientific hiring tool using statistical analysis that he successfully implemented in his financial services business, UNAC. This tool has been instrumental in finding ‘A' class people for key roles, leading to significant growth in productivity and profitability. Alongside Julie Bowden, Denis co-developed the SelectHire Platform, giving SMEs access to a powerful tool that benchmarks and compares candidates against the strengths of internal role models or industry champions. This platform allows HR teams to hire with greater certainty, aligning candidates with the qualities that make top performers in the field. To learn more about the SelectHire Platform, visit his website: https://www.truecolourspeoplesolutions.com.au/ In this episode, Denis shares his insights on: ✅Industry Trends and Personal Experiences: Drawing from his extensive background, Denis offers a unique perspective on real estate hiring strategies. ✅The Power of Adaptability: How staying flexible in a changing environment is crucial for success. ✅Engaging Anecdotes: Illustrating key points with real-life examples from his career. ✅Valuable Advice for Aspiring Professionals: Tips for those looking to advance in the real estate field. ✅Continuous Learning and Self-Improvement: Encouraging ongoing growth as a professional and leader.

Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard is meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday, as Mexico and the US try to reach an agreement over immigration and tariffs. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his government negotiators are trying to delicately negotiate their way out of looming US tariffs. But many fear that talks with the Trump administration could break down, leading to a backlash here and long-term damage to the bilateral relationship. We have a bipartisan group of senators, led by Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey, the top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, and Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, a Trump ally and once a staunch defender of Riyadh, trying to force nearly two dozen votes rebuking the Trump administration's decision to declare a national emergency to circumvent Congress and sell billions of dollars of munitions to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. What does this say to you?The US announced major new restrictions on US citizens traveling to Cuba late Tuesday, blocking the most common way Americans are able to visit the island - through organized tour groups that license US citizens to travel automatically - and banning US cruise ships from stopping in the country. American tourism is not explicitly permitted in Cuba. However, Americans could travel to Cuba if their visits were covered under specific categories, which included organized group travel, known as group people-to-people travel, until Tuesday. Commercial flights from the US will continue to be permitted, as they "broadly support family travel and other lawful forms of travel," according to a spokesperson. Is President Donald Trump taking us through "Groundhog Day?"After ignoring shouts of "build the wall" from a Republican congressman and defeating amendments designed to kill the legislation, the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives passed the "Dream and Promise Act" on Tuesday, with the goal of providing a pathway to citizenship for millions of young undocumented immigrants who are facing the threat of deportation under the Trump administration. The bill, H.R. 6, passed by a vote of 237 to 187, with just seven Republicans voting in its favor. How significant is this? The US Supreme Court is siding with a lower court and striking down part of an Indiana abortion law. The high court declared invalid the part of the law prohibiting abortion because of gender, race or disability of a fetus. However, a portion of the law was upheld that requires fetal remains from abortions to be buried or cremated. This happened a lot faster than I thought it was going to. The Supreme Court Tuesday sidestepped part of a case that could have tested the constitutional right to abortion established in Roe v. Wade, turning down an appeal to reinstate the strict Indiana abortion law. This law has two parts. The first part banned abortions sought solely because of fetal characteristics like sex or disability. The law's second provision required abortion providers to bury or cremate fetal remains. The court's decision, issued without briefing on the merits or oral arguments, was unsigned and just three pages long. It stressed that the decision to uphold the fetal remains provision “does not implicate our cases applying the undue burden test to abortion regulations.” Indiana, the court said, has a “legitimate interest in proper disposal of fetal remains,” quoting an earlier decision.Texas Secretary of State David Whitley, who was behind the botched effort to remove alleged non-citizens from the state's voter rolls, resigned Monday as the Texas legislature's session came to a close. What does say about the whole discussion on voter suppression? Whitley, who was appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott in December, needed a two-thirds vote from the state Senate to be permanently confirmed to the position, but voting rights groups put pressure on Texas Democrats to stop the confirmation following his voter purge efforts. Earlier this year, Whitley's office sent local election officials a list of more than 90,000 people on the voter rolls who it suspected might not be citizens. Whitley, the state's chief elections officer, asked officials to vet the list and possibly remove those names from voter rolls. The list was compiled by flagging the names of people who at one point told the Texas Department of Safety they were not citizens and then also registered to vote within several years. In European Union parliamentary elections, the traditional centrist coalition lost its majority, while far-right and far-left populist parties made gains. A recent New York Times article states, "But if Europe has been an incubator for resurgent nationalism in recent years, it now also feels like an active battleground. With Europe's decades-old project of unity increasingly in the balance, the voting energized both sides on a polarized continent. It was a contest between angry, disaffected nationalists who want to beat back what they see as a remote and overreaching bureaucracy in Brussels, against the once-sleepy, complacent supporters of Europe looking to defend a unity that can no longer be taken for granted." The United States walked out of the Conference on Disarmament on Tuesday to protest against Venezuela assuming the rotating presidency of the UN-sponsored forum - the same thing it did a year ago when Syria took the chair. Is the US fighting a losing battle? The Trump administration, which has stepped up sanctions against the government of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, has not ruled out military action to remove what it and dozens of other nations consider an illegitimate government and which they accuse of rigging a 2018 election.GUESTS:Hannah Dickinson — Associate professor at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and an organizer with the Geneva Women's Assembly. Welcome to the radio magazine that brings you news, commentary and analysis from a Black Left perspective. I’m Glen Ford, along with my co-host Nellie Bailey. Coming up: Police in Buffalo, New York are up to the same tricks as were exposed in Ferguson, Missouri, saturating the Black community with police checkpoints to fatten the city treasury; New York City cops use a secret list of 42 thousand alleged gang members to justify mass arrests in Black neighborhoods; and, most people on the planet think it’s a good idea for the U.S. and Russian presidents to have a summit meeting – except for the Democrats and U.S. corporate media. Cities around the country are going deeply in debt, selling bonds to speculators to pay for judgments and settlements against cops that brutalize their citizens. The Action Center on Race and the Economy did case studies in Chicago, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Cleveland and Lake County Indiana, showing that these so-called “Brutality Bonds” are costing these localities almost 2 BILLION dollars. Angela Peoples is director of the Action Center’s campaign. She’s also with the Washington, DC Chapter of Black Youth Project 100. Civil rights group have filed suit against the city of Buffalo, New York, charging that, for more than five years, Buffalo cops have been saturating Black neighborhoods with police checkpoints for the purpose of extracting millions in fines. According to the suit, 91 percent of the checkpoints operating in Buffalo are located on the Black side of town. We spoke with Keisha Williams, a staff attorney with the Western New York Law Center. She says what’s going on in Buffalo is very much like the systematic draining of the Black community through over-policing and excessive fines that a U.S. Justice Department report documented in Ferguson, Missouri. Black and brown activists in New York City are outraged that the police department maintains a data base of more than 42 thousand names of alleged gang members, The cops have used the list to bring conspiracy charges against hundreds of young people caught up in massive sweeps of poor neighborhoods. Shannon Jones is co-founder of the community organization “Why Accountability.” Her statemnt was read into the record at recent hearings of the City Council on policing in New York. Shannon was interviewed by Black Agenda radio producer Kyle Fraser. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump will travel to Helsinki, Finland, July 16, for a summit meeting. Most people in the world think the summit is a good idea, to improve relations between the two nuclear super-powers. But much of the Democratic Party in the United States is negative on the subject. Sara Flounders is with UNAC, the United National Anti-War Coalition. In general, Flounders thinks the summit is a good thing, but she isn’t optimistic about the immediate outcome.

The United States is now in its 17th year of the "War on Terror" with no end in sight. President Trump is escalating aggression and tension in Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan and is threatening Russia, Iran, North Korea and China. He wants to increase military spending by $54 billion while he cuts critical safety net programs. On top of that, militarization and the security state are growing within the United States. We discuss the impacts of living in an Empire Economy and the inherent racism with Joe Lombardo, co-coordinator of the United National Antiwar Coalition. UNAC is holding a national conference in Richmond, VA from June 16 to 18 called "Stop the Wars at Home and Abroad." Then we speak with Alice Slater of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation about the United Nations treaty to ban nuclear weapons currently being negotiated.
