TTRPG Characters, especially D&D characters, should win and overcome most of the challenges and threats you put in front of them. There is fun in being the winner and succeeding. But failure is important too!! We need to have setbacks, failures, and losses so that our players can grow, learn, and play out these fun and exciting situations!!But how do we navigate the players failing, how often should they fail, and what should failure look like without it feeling forced and wrong? That's all on today's episode of DoubleDM!Check here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://bsky.app/profile/doubledm.bsky.socialhttps://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. Character Development is an integral part of playing TTRPGs, we all come to the table to play a game using a character to tell a story. And in that story our character develops, changes and grows. But how do we make sure players feel comfortable developing their character? How do we as Game Masters give them to opportunity to do so?This is exactly what today is about, how we as Game Masters can help our players develop their D&D characters, how we can encourage growth and set the stage for our players to have their moments.Check here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://bsky.app/profile/doubledm.bsky.socialhttps://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. Game Masters have so many tools to work their stories and play the game, and yet in our opinion the greatest one you can have is Honesty and really its as simple as that! But how does that work? Well, that's what this episode is about on how to be more honest as a game master, why this is so important, and how you can still be lying and deceiving without being dishonest in the context of TTRPGs.Check here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://bsky.app/profile/doubledm.bsky.socialhttps://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. It's something that happens to every TTRPG table at some point. The game might feel like it's in a slump, players don't know what to do next or they are just waiting for something to happen that might never happen. How can we, as Game Masters and Players, keep our D&D Games from getting stale and grinding to a halt? How can we ensure the game keeps moving and stays fresh and exciting for all around the table? Wish is the most overpowered and unbalanced spell in D&D! That's Great! Now, let your players achieve and cast that ultimate power! Why? Wel, cause it's fun and we love fun!To be a little more serious, wish is just one way to showcase ultimate power, and many TTRPGs are about overcoming obstacles and what better way is there to do that with ultimate power? So why not give your players that power and see what they do with it? This has many great aspects that will make your game more engaging, trust us :DYou can check out GAST right here: https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/hatchlings/gast-horror-zine-collection-publishing-startupCheck here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://bsky.app/profile/doubledm.bsky.socialhttps://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. Hello and Welcome to the Realm Forge, come sit down and get inspired with us! Today we are starting our newest project and show, the Realm Forge, a Show where we will worldbuild and create an entire TTRPG Setting from Scratch over several episodes. We will be using different techniques and mechanics to create this world and highlight all kinds of worldbuilding and storytelling so you can build along side us,In this first episode and our first season we focus on our fantasy world Omen, a world of celestial constellations and magic, a world vast with niche places and filled to the brim with different types of signs and creatures. Many TTRPG Rules have many weird aspects when you start thinking about their implications. Take the Immovable Rod from D&D. it says it's unaffected by gravity, so does that mean it stays affixed to that space while the planet is spinning? Or is your world a flat disk without any real space around it?This and more random little tidbits of information can make your world incredibly weird... And we are here to tell you: THAT'S GOOD!You can check out Nathan's Game Dream Investigators right here: https://lurzblurbz.itch.io/dream-investigatorCheck here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://bsky.app/profile/doubledm.bsky.socialhttps://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. Sometimes recovery is just as hard as the fight and this is no exception. Even with Drumlin defeated, standing in the wake of his actions is devastating. Returning the memories held hostage is a prime concern but so is figuring out how to help those that the warlord had abused in captivity. Not to mention the thought of how the journey home will begin. Devices are tinkered with, memories are held dear and plans are made. Join us as Nehemiah, Smalren, and Jhori rest, recuperate and reconstruct . Most TTRPGs have some form of damage, be it hit points, sanity, emotional damage or whatever. All these systems then also have something else... Healing! When there is damage you need to think about healing and recovering from said damage. But most of the time the healing feels... unengaging and more like a tacked-on necessity than an actual gameplay mechanic. That's not necessarily bad but let's think about how to make the healing more interesting!Check here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://twitter.com/DoubleDMpod https://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. Confidence is something everyone struggles with in TTRPGs, at least somewhat. Be it not knowing what your character should do, not knowing if your characters are cut out for the task at hand, or even if you are "good" enough to play.Today we talk about exactly that. How to foster a vibe and atmosphere of trust at the table to give new players the confidence to speak up and share their ideas and a few reminders for players struggling with overthinking about the game and what they should do and how they should act. It is all just a game for fun so let's play some D&D.Check here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://twitter.com/DoubleDMpod https://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. Campaign length (no not base building like i said in the recap) is something that we have talked about before but we wanted to discuss the topic again. So why does this even matter?TTRPGs, like D&D, are a time investment for players and GMs alike, knowing how long a campaign will be is a good way to know how much you should and can invest in said game. But you can't define the length strictly to 5 sessions or 2 chapters... you have to have playroom to let the freeform medium of ttrpgs bloom but just saying 'as long as it takes' is also not the right answer. So what is?Check here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://twitter.com/DoubleDMpod https://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. Base Building is something that often feels lacking in TTRPGs, to me personally, why is that? It feels like it's there to be used but not ingrained into the core of the game so it just becomes a bonus add-on.But does it have to be that way? No it doesn't. In this episode Nils talks to us about Bases and we discuss their benefits and Emils problems with them to maybe find a better solution.Check here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://twitter.com/DoubleDMpod https://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. How do you make your worlds fit for your TTRPGs? One technique we all use and should use even more consciously is Dynamic Worldbuilding. But what is that exactly?Dynamic Worldbuilding is a Way of making your world fit your current situation in your D&D and TTRPG Campaigns without building the world first and trying to make your campaign ideas fit into a smaller mold. This leaves much of the world blank at first and lets you fill in whenever you want. Every single good TTRPG setting has something that sets it apart from the others. What is that unique part about your world? Now don't get scared you don't even need something incredibly never been done before thing... just some cool detail you like is enough. In this episode, we discuss how to make a setting unique and how all of your TTRPG and D&D settings are already unique. The Future of our D&D and TTRPg Games is obviously uncertain, we are here to write the story together and explore a world together, however, in Stories and Storytelling, there is still always foreshadowing of what is to come through dreams, prophecies, and other ways. How can we incorporate them into our games too? Well, it's easy. In this episode, we discuss the important aspects and notions you should look out for to give your players a glimpse of their future and whether they will save it. Player Characters in D&D need secrets, at least something that makes them interesting and maybe hides a facette of them for some time from the rest of the party. But the importance of these secrets does not come from keeping them well, it comes from revealing them and letting the rest discover them. So today let us spill the secrets on how to create good secrets!Check here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://twitter.com/DoubleDMpod https://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. Building your TTRPG Campaigns to be like TV Shows is a great way to make every single session engaging and immersive but also gives you many upsides to playing TTRPGs outside of the game, like scheduling and information retention. In today episode we discuss making your games more episodic and less one plotline broken up into several little chunks of play so that your games are easily digestible and fun.Check here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://twitter.com/DoubleDMpod https://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. Yeah, we mean it! Just seed in a bit of betrayal at your tables (with consent obviously) to spice the game into the most juicy game you can imagine where player characters clash about beliefs and morals, where the game takes unexpected turns that leave even you, the GM, speechless. In today's episode, we are talking about how to seed those moments and opportunities and how players can seize them. So strap in and enjoy the episode, but don't let your guard down!Check here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://twitter.com/DoubleDMpod https://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. Let's discuss law and order, especially lawmaking, in your D&D settings today!! How do you write some good legal texts for your D&D Settings that represent the people making it, living under it, enforcing it, and convicted by it?There are some special questions about law-making in fantasy and sci-fi worlds but general rules still apply and we will discuss both from the basis to the specialisation. We also changed our Podcast Host so if this episode appears weird that's probably why and please let us know what is weird about it.Check here for all further information: You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://twitter.com/DoubleDMpod https://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledm If you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.com Our Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. What's the best thing to do when you arrive in a new city? Shopping of course! And since Dynafel is known for its textiles, some new clothes are definitely on the list. It's also decided to check out the dream based performance troupe at some point. But that's going to have to wait till some shins are spent. Beautiful garments are tried on, technological vestments are purchased, and simple apparel is donned. How many ways can I say they bought a bunch of clothes? Join us as Nehemiah, Smalren, and Jhori go shopping. Time is a Resource that we don't have much of in our lives so how can we make sure that every moment of that time that we use for TTRPGs can be used to create the most joy and fun around our tables? That is exactly what we are here to talk about and discuss today. We talk about how you as a Game Master can improve every single aspect of GMing by using time effectively. From taking a few seconds in the game to think about reactions and outcomes to taking needed week-long breaks from TTRPGs altogether to beat D&D and TTRPG Game Master Burnout. There is a lot to cover when it comes to making sure your TTRPG moments are the greatest they can be but we are here to help with this episode. In this episode, we talk about if you should split your D&D and TTRPG Parties. This is a meme as old as Tabletop Roleplaying itself and came from the first Editions of D&D where characters would run through dungeons and splitting the party just increased the difficulty of each encounter. But TTRPGs evolved since then, so is it still true to never split the party? We discuss everything around Splitting your D&D and TTRPG Party. Spoiler Alert: We believe you should and sometimes will have to split the party. So we talk about when you should or shouldn't do it, how to do it as a player, and how GMs can split the party to achieve certain narrative, dangerous and suspenseful moments at the table. If you ever asked yourself: "Should we split the party in my D&D Game?" This is the episode for you! Today we talk about ways you can make your D&D and TTRPG combats more interesting, difficult, and engaging by using monster and enemy tactics. In this episode, we talk about what it means to use tactics and how even the most simple tactic can already have a great impact at your tables. We also discuss how you can come up with tactics easily for every single monster and enemy by just using them the way they are already designed. We discuss and advise on creating tactics and the most simple ways to spice up your combats and make your players sweat. We talk about what different Monster features mean and how they would be using their features to their advantage or how a simple structure and a leader on the enemy's side can already make combats better for everyone involved. We talk about how they heighten immersion, make the world feel more natural, and create a sense of complexity in your world too. This episode of the Prismatica Magazine Podcast features the story “From the Ashes” by Alexis Ames and is read by K.A. Smith.Alexis Ames (she/her) first picked up a pen when she was eleven years old and hasn’t put it down since. Science fiction is her preferred genre–more specifically, exploring the intersection of humanity and artificial intelligence. It’s rare that she’ll write a story without a robot (or three). Angst is her lifeblood. World-building is her favorite part of writing. Writing the middle of the story is the worst. Nothing makes her happier than a good conversation about all things Star Trek.In her spare time, she runs, hikes, reads, and dreams up ways to make robots sad.Theme Song:Odyssey Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Other Music:Ascending the Vale Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Devastation and Revenge Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Magic Forest Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Twisting Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)

--- Músicas usadas en este programa (nueva política de Ivoox, ya sabéis): "RetroFuture Clean", "Baba Yaga", "Arroz Con Pollo" and "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
