On this episode of “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock breaks down what Muslim socialist Zohran Mamdani's stunning victory in New York City's mayoral race means for the city and for America at large. Whitlock explains that Republicans lose elections because they are afraid to talk about domestic issues, and rather than boldly proclaim their vision for America, they simply react to Democrat talking points. Whitlock holds up Charlie Kirk and Tucker Carlson as examples of fearless leaders in the sociopolitical space and calls for all Christians to elevate their faith over fear. Virgil Walker, Shemeka Michelle, and Anthony Walker join the show to react to Whitlock's assessment of the political and cultural landscape in the wake of Mamdani's election. Pastor Corey Brooks also joins the show to provide an update on his Walk Across America tour to raise funds for Project HOOD. Whitlock closes out the show with a chat with Danny Kanell about all things football. Send Wilk a text with your feedback! From Rooftop to Roadwork: Faith, Dignity and the Walk Across America  Pastor Corey Brooks — known to many as the Rooftop Pastor — is back on Derate The Hate with a story that's nothing short of incredible. What began years ago with a bold stand on a rooftop has grown into Project Hood's 90,000-square-foot community center, now halfway complete on Chicago's South Side. This isn't just a building. It's a lifeline — with trade schools, culinary arts programs, restaurants, financial literacy training, and spaces where purpose and opportunity come alive. But Pastor Brooks isn't done yet. On September 1, 2025, he'll lace up his sneakers in Times Square and begin a Walk Across America — 3,000 miles in 365 days — to raise $25 million and finish the center debt-free.This conversation is about more than fundraising. It's about faith that moves mountains, the dignity of hard work, and the belief that every step we take can change lives. The world is a better place if we are better people. That begins with each of us as individuals. Be kind to one another. Be grateful for all you've got. Make every day the day that you want it to be! This episode of Spinal Cast highlights the transformative power of writing, community, and overcoming adversity. Our guests are Zach Foor, a rehab technician, and Greg Mans, a survivor of a C3 incomplete spinal cord injury. Their friendship began in 2020 at the Recovery Project, a neuro-specialized physical therapy clinic in Livonia, Michigan. Bonded by a shared love of nature, adventure and writing, Zach decided to hike across the United States, east to west, on the American Discovery Trail (ADT) in Greg's honor. He started on March 25, 2024 from Cape Henlopen, Delaware with Greg providing support including occasional in-person visits and virtual encouragement during his rehabilitation. At the heart of this shared journey is the Certain Steps Writing Workshop – an eight-week virtual program led by author and teacher Peter Markus. The workshop is designed for those affected by paralysis and their caregivers, exploring how writing can become a new form of movement. Both Zach and Greg have participated in the program and are now strong advocates raising funds to support another FREE workshop upon the completion of Zach's hike for those interested in participating. Something so difficult, so crazy, so beyond your ability that it didn't even make sense. You'd dismiss it, forget about it and act like you were never asked, right? But what if it were God asking? What if you were absolutely sure that you had just heard God speak? This is that story. It is the story of ultimate Christian Evangelism. It is the story of life-changing adventure driven by a desire to share the gospel. It is the story of two very unlikely people who God asked to walk across America. They were to walk from one side of the country to the other, in every conceivable kind of weather, facing what seemed like insurmountable odds, taking every step together and accomplish it in just six months. As you read this memoir, you'll take each step with them, meet the people they met, hear the prayers they prayed, feel their pain and celebrate their victories. This is the incredible, true account of their once-in-a-lifetime, and how it transformed their lives forever. Rick explains their incredible story about their 6-month trek to share their faith and pray for our nation as they walked across America. While they walked 2,770 miles, over 5 million steps each, it was more about the stops and conversations than the steps they each took. Once described as “mavericks,” Rick and Jane have literally stepped out into the unknown to embrace God's call and have experienced God's presence in a way that only comes through a life of obedience. Whether planting and pastoring churches, traveling the world to perform concerts, building a house in Mexico, or traveling from village to village in India, they had followed God's voice as He led them forward, one step at a time, even when God asked them to walk across America! “The people that you share the experience with and the land that you are traversing are really the two most important things and how they make you feel.” Welcome everyone to the It Matters To Me Podcast, a show that seeks out the passions in all of our lives and the motivations behind why we pursue them. Today, my guest is Rickey Gates, professional runner and writer whose most recent book, Cross Country, is a first-hand account of his 2017 journey across the United States on foot. Rickey's career has always stood out to me not just because of his physical accomplishments but more due to his ability to bring a different, experiential side to running. His relationship with the sport has evolved over the years and with that has come a sincere wish to help others experience running that doesn't involve setting course records or finish line medals. For years now, Rickey has put together guided running trips that include, Hut-Run-Hut, which is a six-day, one-hundred-mile, Aspen-to-Vail mountain running adventure with a priority of fun over fast. If you've heard any of the other episodes with professional runners, you know I try to stay away from any sort of dialogue around training regiments or race-day nutrition because I believe that running can be so much more than a competition against a clock. And true to form, this was a conversation focused more on the personal growth a runner goes through over their career and less about the stats behind their name.
