Flight Crash In NY From The WTC Attack to Other Disasters. Special Episode. When the world thinks of catastrophic events in New York City, two significant tragedies come to mind: the World Trade Center (WTC) attack on September 11, 2001, and the devastating crash of TWA Flight 800 in 1996. These disasters, marked by unimaginable loss and sorrow, remain etched in the memories of those who lived through them and those who responded to the aftermath. Stacey Goodman, a retired Suffolk County, New York, Police Officer, is our guest on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast. The podcast episode is available for free on our website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. She witnessed both of these harrowing events firsthand. With a background as a Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team (DMORT) specialist for the Federal Government, Goodman was no stranger to tragedy. Her first experience in disaster response was the TWA Flight 800 crash, a tragedy that took the lives of all 230 passengers aboard. Years later, her training and federal security clearance led her to Ground Zero, where she worked tirelessly on the Pile for 23 days following the WTC attack. Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Newsbreak, Medium and most all social media platforms In an exclusive conversation, Goodman shared, “The weight of these experiences is something you carry with you forever. Working in the heart of such devastation, recovering human remains, and facing the unimaginable grief of victims' families is something that stays with you.” Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium, Newsbreak and Blogspot. Her book, The Dust Never Settles, chronicles her experiences and the lasting impact of her service. Goodman describes the challenges of confronting conspiracy theories that often emerge from these events. “There will always be people who question what happened, who suggest alternative narratives. For me, I know what I saw, what I touched, and what I felt. That reality is indisputable,” she shared. Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Newsbreak, Medium and most all social media platforms The TWA Flight 800 crash, a tragedy that unfolded off the coast of Long Island, was initially suspected to be a terrorist attack. After a lengthy investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the FBI, the official cause was determined to be an explosion of flammable fuel vapors due to a short circuit. Despite the findings, conspiracy theories still linger, fueled by misinformation and conspiracy theorists. Many of whom spread their message across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter). Flight Crash In NY From The WTC Attack to Other Disasters. The interview is available as a free podcast on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast website, also available on platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most major podcast outlets. On September 11, 2001, the narrative of terrorism was tragically evident. The attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon, along with the crash of United Airlines Flight 93, left an indelible scar on the nation. The collapse of the Twin Towers killed 2,753 people, while the Pentagon attack claimed 184 lives and Flight 93’s crash in Pennsylvania took the lives of 40 passengers. For Goodman, the aftermath of 9/11 was a grueling journey. “Working at Ground Zero was surreal,” she said. “We weren't just sifting through rubble—we were uncovering stories, lives, and the remnants of a tragedy that the world watched unfold in real-time.” Today, Goodman’s reflections resonate through her writing, public speaking, and podcast appearances on The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast, available for free on their website, in addition to Apple Podcasts, Spotify and many others. Her mission is to share the unfiltered reality of disaster response, honoring the victims and the resilience of those who endured unimaginable loss. While platforms like LinkedIn may showcase her professional accomplishments, her story goes beyond the accolades. It is a testament to courage, sacrifice, and the resolve to face darkness while seeking light. In a world shaped by these tragedies, the voices of those like Stacey Goodman remind us of the lasting impact of loss and the strength required to carry its weight. Her story, both sobering and inspiring, echoes the need to approach these events with empathy, understanding, and respect for the truth. This video, recorded LIVE in Boise, ID on our Jan/2025 Northwest/Southwest Big Mini-Tour compellingly refutes the official narrative of what happened at the World Trade Center (WTC) on September 11, 2001. It presents overwhelming evidence that the destruction of WTC Building 7, the North Tower (WTC 1), and the South Tower (WTC 2) resulted from explosive controlled demolition. Drawing from eyewitness accounts, forensic evidence, and established principles of engineering, this report raises critical, officially uninvestigated questions about the events at the WTC that day.Understanding the true cause of the World Trade Center destruction is not just a matter of historical accuracy. It is a prerequisite for justice and accountability for the 343 patriotic New York firefighters and nearly 3,000 others whose lives were suddenly ended, and the thousands of their family members still waiting for the truth.Richard Gage is the founder and former CEO of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth and a member of the American Institute of Architects. He and his courageous wife Gail are now focused as RichardGage911 on educating the public about the World Trade Center destruction on 9/11. The organization he founded in 2006, AE911Truth, now represents more than 3,600 architects and engineers demanding a new investigation. He gives more than 100 interviews and speaking engagements each year.Support the show

Her Father Was Police in NYC During the WTC Terror Attack: Special Episode. On that fateful morning of September 11, 2001, Susan Fiorentino, then only 10 years old, had her world forever changed. Her father, NYPD Detective Pete Fiorentino, was one of many first responders who rushed to the World Trade Center (WTC) after the terror attacks. As chaos unfolded across New York City, the impact on Susan and her community was profound, shaping her life and her mission to preserve the memories of those affected, particularly the children of first responders. Check out the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Newsbreak, Medium and most all social media platforms. Now an author and advocate, Susan's story has taken her from that traumatic day to becoming a voice for many. Her book, "We Will Never Forget: The Stories of the Children of 9/11 First Responders," is a compilation of over 40 stories of children whose parents responded to Ground Zero. Proceeds from the book benefit the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a cause that's close to her heart. The interview with Susan Fiorentino is available as a free podcast on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. Life During the Attacks For Susan and many others growing up in Staten Island, NY, 9/11 wasn't just a national tragedy — it was personal. “Most of my friends had family members who were either NYPD or FDNY, and they were working that day,” Susan recalls. The attack didn't just shake the city; it changed the dynamics of entire neighborhoods. Staten Island, home to many first responders, became a hub of grief and anxiety as the reality of the attacks set in. Many parents, like Susan's father, spent days and weeks at Ground Zero, working tirelessly in the aftermath. Her Father Was Police in NYC During the WTC Terror Attack: Special Episode. Keep informed by following the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, MeWe, Pinterest, Newsbreak, Medium and other social media platforms. She vividly remembers the uncertainty in the days following the attack — wondering whether her father would come home and watching the toll it took on her family and friends. These early experiences with fear, loss, and hope would later drive her to write her book, a project she hopes will resonate with readers and keep the memories alive for future generations. Listen to this interview as a free podcast on our website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. Finding Purpose in the Pain. Her Father Was Police in NYC During the WTC Terror Attack. Susan's journey through recovery was challenging. The emotional toll of growing up in a post 9/11 world, coupled with the impact on her family, led her to seek ways to heal. Part of that healing came through community support and giving back. Susan became a dedicated volunteer with the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization that helps support the families of fallen first responders. “The work this foundation does is incredible,” Susan says, “and I wanted to be part of something that honored my father's work and the work of so many others.” The discussion is available as a free podcast on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio how and Podcast website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. Her involvement didn't stop there. Susan is now a member of the Foundation's Young Professionals Network, where she leads fundraising efforts and helps organize community events. All proceeds from her book will go directly to the Foundation. We cover her journey and story in platforms like Medium and Newsbreak. Amplifying the Voices of 9/11 Children Susan's book offers a unique perspective on the attacks. “Even though we all experienced that day, we all experienced it differently,” she explains. Collecting the stories of children who lived through the same trauma but coped in different ways has been a powerful experience for Susan. She hopes that by sharing these stories, others will understand the long-lasting effects of that day on the families of first responders. Some of the children in the book were inspired to follow in their parents' footsteps, becoming first responders themselves. Others chose careers in entirely different fields, seeking ways to give back to their communities in honor of their parents' sacrifices. Each story is a testament to resilience, bravery, and the lasting legacy of 9/11. Her Father Was Police in NYC During the WTC Terror Attack. The interview is available as a free podcast on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. Susan hopes her book will serve as a reminder that the impact of that day is still felt deeply. “It's important to raise awareness that this is still a community that is suffering, and we need to support them,” she says. Her Father Was Police in NYC During the WTC Terror Attack. For Susan, telling these stories is not just about remembering the past — it's about ensuring the future generation understands the sacrifices made by first responders and their families. “Through connecting with others and sharing my own experience, I've found healing,” she says. “I hope this book helps others find the same.” Learn useable tips and strategies to increase your Facebook Success with John Jay Wiley. On this week's episode we are running a rare re-run on the aftermath of 9/11. The tragic events of September 11, 2001, remain etched in the collective memory of not only Americans but also people worldwide. Beyond the immediate devastation, the aftermath of the World Trade Center (WTC) attacks brought forth an enduring health crisis among those who selflessly rushed to aid their fellow citizens. First responders, the courageous individuals who braved the smoke, debris, and toxic fumes of Ground Zero, now face a formidable foe: cancer. This essay delves into the harrowing issue of cancers among first responders as a result of their heroic work at the World Trade Center on 9/11. The Heroic Sacrifice On that fateful Tuesday morning in 2001, first responders raced against time to rescue victims, provide medical aid, and extinguish fires at Ground Zero. Their unwavering commitment to their duty and fellow citizens was nothing short of heroic. However, in their pursuit of saving lives and clearing the wreckage, these valiant individuals unwittingly subjected themselves to a hazardous environment, the consequences of which continue to haunt them. The Toxic Fallout The collapse of the Twin Towers released a vast plume of dust and debris, laden with a toxic cocktail of chemicals and substances. This included asbestos, lead, dioxins, and various carcinogens. The first responders breathed in these harmful particles, exposing themselves to long-term health risks. Moreover, the fires at Ground Zero burned for months, releasing even more hazardous pollutants into the air, further endangering the health of those on the front lines. The Alarming Statistics Over the years, an alarming number of first responders have fallen victim to cancer. The statistics are sobering, with many developing rare and aggressive forms of the disease. A study conducted by the World Trade Center Health Program in 2020 revealed that cancer has become a leading cause of death among 9/11 first responders. The incidence of certain cancers, such as prostate, thyroid, and multiple myeloma, among this group is significantly higher than in the general population. The Struggle for Recognition and Assistance First responders who survived the immediate aftermath of 9/11 are now faced with another daunting battle – the fight for recognition and assistance. Many of these heroes have struggled to receive adequate medical care and compensation for their illnesses. The process of proving that their cancer is linked to their exposure at Ground Zero can be arduous, and the burden of proof often falls on the shoulders of the afflicted. Legislation such as the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act has provided some relief by establishing healthcare programs and compensation for affected individuals. However, the fight for ongoing support and comprehensive healthcare continues, as the prevalence of cancer cases among first responders only grows. The Psychological Toll Beyond the physical health challenges, the psychological toll on first responders cannot be understated. Witnessing the loss of colleagues and experiencing the long-term health impacts has led to significant mental health struggles within this community. Many suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety, adding to the already burdensome weight of their physical ailments. The cancers afflicting the first responders who valiantly served at the World Trade Center on 9/11 represent a tragic and enduring consequence of that fateful day. These individuals sacrificed their health and well-being in the pursuit of saving lives and aiding their fellow citizens. As a society, it is our moral duty to recognize their sacrifice, provide them with the necessary medical care and support, and continue research to better understand and combat the long-term health effects of their selfless actions. The cancers among first responders of 9/11 are a stark reminder that their heroism should never be forgotten, and their needs should always be a priority.
Architect Richard Gage and a group of 3500 architects and engineers are demanding a new investigation into what happened to the World Trade Center (WTC) on September 11th, 2001. As professionals, they have found so many technical and logical flaws in the official narrative that they are convinced the truth has not been told. The US government's investigation concluded that fires made the steel melt, but Gage claims the temperatures had to be at least 500 degrees Celsius higher than any office fire, or even airplane fuel fires, can cause. 9/11 was the first and last time in history that skyscrapers fell because of fires, and WTC building 7 was not even hit by an airplane. Part One provided a picture of connections to organizations that had demolition access to explosive materials and to the expertise required to use explosives.Who could have placed explosives in the World Trade Center (WTC) towers? The management representatives of these tenant companies were seen to be secretive and powerful. Through these powerful people, the tenants were connected to organizations that benefited greatly from the 9/11 attacks, including the defense contractors Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, General Dynamics, Halliburton, and Science Applications International Corp (SAIC). The tenants also had strong connections to the Bush family and their corporate network, including Dresser Industries (now Halliburton) and UBS, and to Deutsche Bank and its subsidiaries, reported to have brokered the insider trading deals. There were also links between these tenant companies and the terrorist-financing Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI).
Who could have placed explosives in the World Trade Center (WTC) towers? Part 3 in this series attempts to answer that question. The first installment began by considering the tenants that occupied the impact zones and the other floors that might have played a useful role in the demolition of the WTC towers. The result was a picture of connections to organizations that had access to explosive materials and to the expertise required to use explosives. Additionally it was seen that, in the years preceding 9/11, the impact zone tenants had all made structural modifications to the areas where the airliners struck the buildings.Email: thefacthunter@mail.comwww.thefacthunter.com
In part two of this two-part episode, retired agent John Anticev continues his case review of his operation of FBI informant Emad Salem, who infiltrated an operational cell of Egyptian Islamic radicals but fired by John's FBI superiors while John was out on sick leave recovering from a brain tumor. Members of the cell were later found to be responsible for the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center (WTC). After the attack, John re-engaged his source to penetrate a second operational terrorist cell preparing to attack the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels, the United Nations, 26 Federal Plaza, and other New York City landmarks. This time, the case, known as TERRSTOP, resulted in the prevention of major attacks and identified links between the cell and a hostile intelligence service. John also discusses the stress and frustration he endured during the 6-year internal investigation into his and others handling of the source, who, unknown to John, had secretly recorded many of their conversations. John Anticev served in the FBI for 28 years. A Video Explaining the Doctrine of Reasonable Expectations https://zalma.com/blog The act of infamy at the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York City on September 11, 2001, is responsible for a great deal of insurance litigation concerning, among other things, the meaning of the term “occurrence” in first party property policies and the methodology required of insurers when interpreting a policy of insurance. In the WTC policies, “occurrence” was defined as follows: “Occurrence” shall mean all losses or damages that are attributable directly or indirectly to one cause or to one series of similar causes. All such losses will be added together and the total amount of such losses will be treated as one occurrence irrespective of the period of time or area over which such losses occur. Because WTC insurance issues are surrounded by the horrendous facts of the attack, and due to the fact that some policies had yet to be printed and delivered to the insured before September 11, 2001, the decisions rendered in interpreting the policies had far-reaching impact. The rulings in the WTC cases, combined with a decision of the California Supreme Court, are changing how insurance policies are interpreted. Since policy interpretation is essential to the presentation of any insurance claim, the following detailed discussion is important to all those concerned with insurance claims. “Reasonable expectations” does not mean, however, that the expectations of the insured can change or modify the clear and unambiguous language of the policy of insurance. The Third Circuit found, in Canal Insurance v. Underwriters, against the insured's claim of reasonable expectations, finding that in the context of the case before it “the refusal to look beyond the plain meaning of the unambiguous exclusionary language to Singh's reasonable expectations is consistent with the interpretation of Pennsylvania case law in our Circuit.” For example, a case decided over 200 years ago made the point that the reasonable expectations of the insured include the understanding that “every [insurer] is presumed to be acquainted with the practice of the trade he insures…. If he does not know it, he ought to inform himself.” Similarly, more than 150 years ago the US Supreme Court in Hazard's Administrator v. New England Marine Insurance Co., 33 U.S. 557 (1834) adopted the rule. It concluded that “no injustice is done if insurers are presumed to know their insureds' industry because it is part of their ordinary business.” © 2021 – Barry Zalma Barry Zalma, Esq., CFE, now limits his practice to service as an insurance consultant specializing in insurance coverage, insurance claims handling, insurance bad faith and insurance fraud almost equally for insurers and policyholders. In this interview, I speak with 9/11 whistleblower, Kevin Ryan, about 9/11 and comparisons with the Covid operation. From the blog of Kevin Ryan, Dig Within, Kevin writes: My work as Site Manager for the environmental testing division of Underwriters Laboratories (UL) led me to begin investigating the tragedy of September 11th, 2001. UL fired me, in 2004, for publicly asking questions about UL's testing of the structural materials used to construct the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings as well as UL's involvement in the WTC investigation being conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Since 2006, I've been the co-editor of the Journal of 9/11 Studies and a founding member of several action groups. I've also served as a board director at Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth and co-authored several books and numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles on the subject. I've given public presentations around the country and continue to do research into the crimes of 9/11 in order to help people come to a better understanding. Kevin Ryan is author the 2013 book, Another Nineteen: Investigating Legitimate 9/11 Suspects. This interview was broadcast live on August 22nd, 2021. Welcome to the Elevator World News Podcast. Today’s podcast news podcast is sponsored by elevatorbooks.com: www.elevatorbooks.com NEW RENDERINGS SHOW HOW 2 WTC WOULD FIT INTO NYC SKYLINE Four new renderings show how 2 World Trade Center (WTC), originally conceived by Norman Foster of Foster + Partners, would fit into the NYC skyline, New York YIMBY reports. The British architect recently won a second chance at designing the supertall at 200 Greenwich Street from developer Silverstein Properties, and the renderings, by YIMBY and Instagram user Sinaevart, provide a look at what could become the second-tallest skyscraper in lower Manhattan after the 1,776-ft-tall One WTC. The first shows the four diamond-shaped structures on the crown pointing down toward the 9/11 Memorial, the second is a morning view from Midtown that obscures 3 WTC, the third is a sunset view from New York Harbor beyond the Statute of Liberty and the fourth is from Hudson Square that accentuates the original design’s dark centerline. A new design could look considerably different, and a construction timeline for what would be the final piece of the WTC complex puzzle will depend on landing an anchor tenant. The Practical Prepper: A modern conversation about preparedness, survival and being self reliant
Facts (care of CNN): Nineteen men hijacked four fuel-loaded US commercial airplanes bound for west coast destinations. A total of 2,977 people were killed in New York City, Washington, DC and outside of Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The Victims: At the World Trade Center (WTC) site in Lower Manhattan, 2,753 people were killed when hijacked American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 were intentionally crashed into the north and south towers, or as a result of the crashes. Of those who perished during the initial attacks and the subsequent collapses of the towers, 343 were New York City firefighters, 23 were New York City police officers and 37 were officers at the Port Authority. The victims ranged in age from two to 85 years. Approximately 75-80% of the victims were men. At the Pentagon in Washington, 184 people were killed when hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the building. Near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, 40 passengers and crew members aboard United Airlines Flight 93 died when the plane crashed into a field. It is believed that the hijackers crashed the plane in that location, rather than their unknown target after the passengers and crew attempted to retake control of the flight deck. As of July 2019, 1,644 (60%) of 2,753 WTC victims' remains have been positively identified, according to the medical examiner's office. December 18, 2001 - Congress approves a measure to allow the president to designate September 11 as "Patriot Day" on each anniversary of the attacks. December 2001-June 15, 2004 - The original Victims Compensation Fund processes death and injury claims from families and relatives of September 11 victims. Families of those killed had until December 22, 2003, to apply for compensation. The fund reopens in 2011. May 24, 2007 - The Chief Medical Examiner of New York City, Dr. Charles S. Hirsch, rules that the death of Felicia Dunn-Jones in 2002, from dust exposure, is directly linked to the 9/11 attack and therefore a homicide. July 19, 2007 - The New York Medical Examiner's Office announces that the remains of three more people are positively identified. 1,133 victims, 41% of the total, remain unidentified. January 2009 - The medical examiner's office rules that Leon Heyward, who died the previous year of lymphoma and lung disease, is a homicide victim because he was caught in the toxic dust cloud just after the towers collapsed. January 2, 2011 - President Barack Obama signs the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010, reopening and expanding the scope of the Victim Compensation Fund. June 17, 2011 - The New York medical examiner rules that Jerry Borg's death on December 15, 2010, is a result of inhaling toxic substances from the dust cloud generated by the collapsing twin towers. May 10, 2014 - The unidentified remains of those killed in the attacks are returned to the World Trade Center site where they will be kept in a repository under the jurisdiction of the Office of Chief Medical Examiner of the City of New York. Homeland Security: The Department of Homeland Security was created in response to September 11. It merged 22 governmental agencies into one, including the Customs Service, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the US Coast Guard and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Through the Container Security Initiative, over 80% of imported maritime containerized cargo is prescreened before entering the US. The Mind Renewed : Thinking Christianly in a New World Order
For this important interview we welcome Tony Szamboti, mechanical engineer and 9/11 researcher, who joins us for a detailed discussion on crucial evidence that, in the words of his research group, "clearly demonstrate(s) that the reports produced by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on the destruction of the World Trade Center (WTC) were unscientific and fraudulent." With the group's recently-published white paper as our focus, "Areas of Specific Concern in the NIST WTC Reports" which lists 25 Points seriously challenging NIST's work in this area, we discuss striking new evidence demonstrating that NIST intentionally omitted significant structural components from its analysis of Building 7, and explore the almost inescapable conclusion that this was done in order to avoid the explanation of controlled demolition. We also discuss the potential these findings might have for legal action. (Tony Szamboti is a U.S. Navy Veteran, he holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University, and has worked predominantly in the Aerospace industry for the last 28 years.) On Sunday afternoon, March 6th, at the Boulder campus of the University of Colorado, Colorado 9/11 Visibility hosted a debate between Richard Gage, AIA (American Institute of Architects), and Chris Mohr, Denver investigative journalist and nondenominational minister. This is the audo of that historic debate. The question: What brought down the three World Trade Center skyscrapers? Richard Gage, AIA, is a San Francisco Bay Area architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects. He has been an architect for over 23 years and has worked on most types of building construction, including numerous fire-proofed, steel-framed buildings. His quest for the truth about 9/11 began in 2006, and he subsequently founded Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. Chris Mohr, investigative journalist and advocate of the “natural collapse” theory, is a sincere seeker of the truth who has extensively researched the collapses of the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings, consulted with independent physicists and engineers, and passionately argues that the buildings collapsed due to the plane impacts and fires. In November 2010 at Denver’s Mercury Cafe, Mohr debated attorney Earl Staelin on the collapse of the twin towers. This debate was unprecedented in its civility and professionalism. During this debate between Chris Mohr and Richard Gage, the discussion explored not only the collapse of the twin towers, but also that of 47-story World Trade Center Building 7, which collapsed completely at 5:21 pm on 9/11/01. For those of you not familiar with the collapse of WTC7, this is a riveting, don’t-miss controversy. We look forward to a dynamic, respectful, and thoroughly informative exploration of these topics. Special thanks to Colorado 9-11 Visibility and all the volunteers and donors that made this event possible.
The collapse of the World Trade Center buildings on 11 September 2001 created a massive cloud of dust that blanketed lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn. That dust comprised a complex mixture of building materials, office equipment, jet fuel, and combustion by-products. In this podcast, Paul Lioy discusses how this dust differs from other particulate matter and how these differences may have affected the health of those who were exposed to the dust. Lioy is the deputy director of the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Rutgers University. He is also the author of the book Dust: The Inside Story of Its Role in the September 11th Aftermath. Visit the podcast webpage to download a full transcript of this podcast.
As many as 70,000 volunteers and rescue workers responded to the 11 September 2001 World Trade Center (WTC) attacks, many toiling for months to clear mountains of debris containing a range of toxic compounds. Health effects seen since that time in WTC responders include respiratory, gastrointestinal, chemosensory, and mental health problems; many of these effects have persisted for years. In this podcast, Philip Landrigan discusses his work with WTC responders as a physician and an epidemiologist and how lessons learned from the WTC cleanup may be applied to other disasters. Landrigan is the chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine and dean for Global Health at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.
