The discussion also covered KAT's inconsistent playoff play and the Mets' 4-3 ten-inning victory over the Dodgers, featuring another Lindor leadoff home run. Other sports news included the Angels' historic three-homer first inning at Fenway, the retirement of the Lions and Patriots centers, and Aaron Judge's inability to leave his hotel due to fan mobs, prompting Boomer to reflect on the impact of phone cameras on athlete privacy. Hour 2 The conversation began with a nostalgic look at Neptunes, a spot Boomer frequented with his Jets players, and a humorous aside about whether Eddie will cry upon retirement. Larry in Indiana pledged support for Gio in a hypothetical fight with Carl Banks. Jerry's update highlighted the Mets' victory over the Dodgers, with Lindor's leadoff home run and RBI single, though Vientos sustained a hamstring injury. Positive news from Giants camp was tempered by Boomer's reminder that game performance is paramount. The hour concluded with Peter Schwartz discussing his resignation as GM of an arena football team that notably lacked helmets. Hour 3 The hour began with a discussion of Gio's comments calling Karl-Anthony Towns a "loser," a criticism aimed at his playing style not fitting the Knicks' championship aspirations. Jerry's update covered the Mets' ten-inning victory over the Dodgers, highlighted by Lindor's leadoff home run and RBI single. Charles Barkley's confusing move from TNT to ESPN was also discussed. The segment concluded with Boomer introducing his new twin grandsons and further calls about KAT's inconsistent performance. 2024 American League Championship Series Games Four and Five @ Progressive Field - Cleveland, OH The Guardians avoided going down three games to none thanks to the heroics of Jhonkensy Noel and David Fry, who respectively hit game-tying and walk-off home runs off of the Yankees relief aces. There's a ton of excitement in the Land, but there are some ominous signs for Steven Vogt's ball club. The starting pitching has not given length nor has it been very effective so far, and Cleveland will call upon the unproven Gavin Williams (3-10 4.86 ERA 76 IP) in game four and bring back Tanner Bibee (12-8 3.47 173 IP) on short rest for game five. More worrisome is the fact that the Yankees have been able to do damage against Emmanuel Clase, who is regarded as the best closer in the game. And with stalwarts Cade Smith and Hunter Gaddis having been used heavily to boot, the strategy of reliever carousel might not be so sound. If the Guardians are going to pull this off, they will have to bring the bats as they did in game three. That means much better production from José Ramírez and Josh Naylor, as well as frankly any production from the catching tandem of Bo Naylor and Austin Hedges. We know the Guardians will not go down without a fight, but do they have enough to contend with the Yankees onslaught. Game three was a whirlwind finish for Aaron Boone's squad, coming back in the eighth with back-to-back homers, but then unable to get the final out despite just being a strike away from a likely insurmountable 3-0 lead. Still, the Yankees are in good position in this series, and they will look to press their advantage as they seek their 41st AL pennant. They send rookie Luis Gil (15-7 3.50 ERA 150 IP) to the mound in game four, who was incredible to start the year, but seemed to hit a wall in the second half. Then for game five, Carlos Rodón (16-9 3.96 ERA 175 IP) will get the ball again, looking to replicate his outstanding game one start. The bullpen has shown its first cracks the postseason, with Clay Holmes and Luke Weaver coughing up the lead in game three. This is no worry with the offense, however, as Giancarlo Stanton continues to just hit home runs nearly every game, Gleyber Torres and Juan Soto get on base in about half of their at bats, and Aaron Judge has finally shown some life. They are a dangerous lineup, and if the Guardians continue to gift them opportunities with runners in scoring position, the Yankees will make you pay. Tune in to a competitive finish to this exciting ALCS. On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Jim Moore for the first hour of the show as they chat about the current landscape in college athletics and why Tony Bennett retired from Virginia and expect more coaches to follow suit. Will Jake Dickert stay in Pullman long term or if he wins will he be pried away from a bigger program?Puck and Jim are joined by their handicapper TroyWins.com who goes over his top picks for the college football and NFL weekend. Plus, Troy gives his “Lock of the Week.” After Puck and Jim say goodbye to Troy, they finish up their portion of the show with thoughts on the Yankees/Guardians and they played the great spanish radio call from Cleveland. Finally, before Jim goes they play “Friday Voicemails” and introduce two new characters in Jerry Seinfeld and Jimmy Lake. Puck then welcomes Chris Egan, KING 5 to the show for his weekly show to discuss all things sports, non-sports and life. Egan details his crazy night attending the Kraken game as a fan. Coors light, margaritas, burgers, hot dogs and cider. What a night for Egan! Egan and Puck talk about the cool scene in Cleveland where the Guardians pulled within 2-1 of the Yankees. When are the Mariners going to get back to that?Egan is off to Lake Washington/Issaquah for the King 5 “Big Game of the Week”. Lastly, Puck wraps up with “Hey, What the Puck!?” Puck loves playoff baseball and it's a terrible feeling as a Mariners fan to be left out of the party. Also, with Tony Bennett leaving college basketball, you'll see this as more of a trend in college sports.
Glass half full: We need one more magical night from the Mets at Citi Field. David Peterson is on the mound tonight so we should be thinking positively. Glass half empty: the Mets can't score on the Dodgers pitching. Boomer said the Mets lost the confidence or whatever they had the last two games. Pitchers don't want to throw strikes, they've had base running gaffes and fielding gaffes. They look like they got punched in the face. The Mets need some sort of momentum with David Peterson on the mound. Both Boomer and Gio said they trust him in this spot. The two starters for tonight's Yankees/Guardians game haven't pitched since September. Gio thinks they should be able to throw 200 pitches if that's the case. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with a message from Frank The Tank about the Mets game 5 tonight. Carlos Mendoza talked about the Dodgers lineup controlling the strike zone. We heard from John Sterling when Judge and Stanton went back to back. We also heard Sterling as Noel homered to tie it in the ninth and David Fry homered in the bottom of the tenth. The Moment of The Day: Future streaming services may have very odd names. In the final segment of the hour, our NFL Picks!
Jerry Recco is in studio because a talk show host in Cleveland, Ken Carman, is annoying him on Twitter. He must listen to the Warm Up Show on his way to work in Cleveland and has an issue with a few of the things Jerry said about the Guardians. Jerry put him in his place. Jerry returns for an update and we hear the Cleveland radio call as Judge and Stanton went back to back. Cleveland came back with homers by Noel in the ninth and Fry in the 10th and we heard John Sterling on the call. We heard from Howie Rose as Ohtani hit a lead off HR last night in Queens. Mets players are staying positive as we heard some post game sound from Lindor and Alonso. The Broncos went into New Orleans and dominated the Saints. Evan Neal was asked about not playing as the Giants are now dealing with the injury to Andrew Thomas. Davante Adams said he's not feeling any pressure coming to the Jets. In the final segment of the hour, tonight's Mets game is at 5:08pm and Gio is imploring fans to get there early and get into it. The Mets have not given the fans anything to cheer for. Twice last night with the bases loaded and they came away with nothing. In tonight's Yankees/Guardians matchup, you have two starters that haven't pitched since September.
Hour 1 The Mets are on the brink of elimination. The Yankees lost last night in walk off fashion. Boomer talked about the importance of the bullpen in both of these series. It feels like the magic has run out for the Mets. Gio is going to the Mets game tonight. Gio doesn't think last night's win is going to ‘catapult' the Guardians. He thinks the Yankees win in five. The Dodgers have seemed to figure out Francisco Lindor. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with Judge and Stanton going back to back to make it 4-3 Yankees with John Sterling on the call. Then the Guardians came back to tie it in the ninth and win it in the tenth and we heard the call from Guardians radio. We heard from Howie Rose as Mookie Betts hit a 2-run HR as the Dodgers are now up 3-1 on the Mets. The Broncos went into New Orleans and had no problem beating the Saints. In the final segment of the hour, Max Muncy is always on base for the Dodgers. Their relief pitching has been better and their top end stars have shown up for this series and the Mets' top end stars have not. Hour 2 Jerry Recco is in studio because a talk show host in Cleveland, Ken Carman, is annoying him on Twitter. He must listen to the Warm Up Show on his way to work in Cleveland and has an issue with a few of the things Jerry said about the Guardians. Jerry put him in his place. Twice last night with the bases loaded and they came away with nothing. In tonight's Yankees/Guardians matchup, you have two starters that haven't pitched since September. Hour 3 We talked Giants/Eagles and Boomer said this should be a tight game well into the fourth quarter. Gio thinks if the Giants can score 24 points, they can win the game. Gio is feeling a 24-20 Giants win. Boomer said the Eagles defense only has 2 turnovers, the lowest in the NFL. If the Giants can keep that going they can win this game. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the TBS TV call of the Judge HR that tied the game at 3. And then Stanton went back to back. We also heard the TBS call when Noel tied the game in the ninth with a HR and Fry homered for the win. We heard from Mets radio as Mookie Betts had a 2-run double and a HR. Carlos Mendoza talked about the Dodger lineup. The Broncos went into New Orleans and had no problem beating the Saints. Saquon Barkley returns to MetLife and Jerry wonders how he'll be received. In the final segment of the hour, it looks like Russell Wilson will start for the Steelers Sunday night against the Jets. Ben Roethlisberger doesn't like that idea and supposedly the guys in the locker room want Justin Fields as well. No matter where he goes, Russell Wilson doesn't seem to be popular in the locker room. Gio called him a douche and impossible to like. Gio said Aaron Rodgers is one hit away from getting hit and going back to Costa Rica. Especially against the Steelers defense. Hour 4 Glass half full: We need one more magical night from the Mets at Citi Field. David Peterson is on the mound tonight so we should be thinking positively. Glass half empty: the Mets can't score on the Dodgers pitching. Boomer said the Mets lost the confidence or whatever they had the last two games. Pitchers ...

2024 American League Championship Series Game Three - New York Yankees @ Cleveland Guardians The Guardians return to Cleveland with their backs against the wall, having lost the first two game of the ALCS to the Yankees in the Bronx. Steven Vogt's team finds themselves in a 2-0 series hole due to a mix of sloppy defense, shaky pitching, and shoddy hitting. There's a lot that this club will have to shape up in short order if they want to avoid being down three games to none. These guys were pushed to the brink against Detroit in the previous series, and they responded with aplomb. If they're to have any chance against the Yankees, they're gonna need to do the same tonight. The Yankees are just two wins away from returning to the World Series for the first time in 15 seasons. They haven't been perfect so far, but there has been little to complain about. The pitching has been outstanding, particularly Clay Holmes and Luke Weaver at the back end. They've gotten contributions up and down the lineup, with Torres and Soto setting the table and Stanton cleaning up. Aaron Judge may finally be breaking out of his postseason slump, homering in game two. But there is still work to do, and manager Aaron Boone is well aware of how quickly fortunes can change in the playoffs. Game three will feature a matchup between Cleveland lefty Matthew Boyd and New York righty Clarke Schmidt. Boyd has been effective so far, but his outings have been short by design. With no Cleveland starter having completed five innings to this point and with a bullpen that's been taxed, how many outs can the Guardians get from the lefty. The 28 year old righty for the Yankees was good, but unspectacular in his first postseason start. Boone will likely have a quick hook to set up his powerful back-end arms, but their heavy usage could be cause for concern. Tune in to one of the best playoff games of the past deade. The 2024 NLCS kicked off on Sunday night in rousing fashion, with the Los Angeles Dodgers flexing their offensive and pitching strength in a 9-0 victory over the New York Mets. With trade deadline acquisition Jack Flaherty spinning a masterful 7 innings of no-run ball, the Dodgers already find themselves up 1-0 in the best-of-seven series.Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman recap all the action from Game 1, followed by a brief preview of the series, including whether the Mets have an advantage over the Dodgers regarding their pitching rotation and why Shohei Ohtani might cause havoc for New York's later-inning relievers. Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, the guys preview the ALCS between recent postseason foes the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians. They discuss the one edge the Guardians have over the Yankees, the impressive nature of Cleveland's success despite their payroll, and Gerrit Cole's need to keep José Ramírez in check.Jake and Jordan then close the episode by recapping the exits of the Detroit Tigers and San Diego Padres, as well as how each team might try to approach the offseason to improve their odds in 2025.(2:14) - NLCS Game 1 recap(7:00) - Dodgers-Mets series preview(24:59) - Yankees-Guardians series preview(36:43) - Who has the edge in the ALCS?(47:52) - Saying goodbye to the Tigers(52:41) - Where do the Padres go from here?Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

In this episode of Three Inning Fan – The Podcast with Kelley Franco, we do a full League Championship Series preview. With the Mets versus the Dodgers, we look at whether the Mets' magic can continue. Can the postseason legacies of Alonso and Lindor help them advance, and can aces Manaea and Severino get them back on track after a Game 1 loss? We explore the Dodgers' starting pitching woes but the recent resurgence of their bullpen. The wild card could very well be whether the unpredictable Mets' bullpen can be at its best. With the Yankees and the Guardians, Judge needs to be Judge to move this team past the LCS, Stanton needs to stay hot and Soto needs to go from warm to hot. The Guardians bullpen is the "Clase” of the league, but will it be enough to stave off the Yankees? All this plus the secret to good chili, which should be on your stove for October baseball. *Music by Podington Bear

Kick starting another jam packed week of sports talk as I detailed ALL of the latest and greatest. Thanks for tuning in to get your fix. On deck: (6:37) It's championship series time in MLB with one game complete in the NL. The Dodgers have dominated the final two games of the NLDS vs. the Padres and Game 1 last night, to the tune of 33 consecutive scoreless innings. Is the pressure off of the NL West champs as they escaped another first round exit? What are the keys for the Mets to get back in the series and win the NL? I'll take a look at the AL in how the Yankees & Guardians have gotten to this point and preview what to possibly expect in that series? I'll also share my thoughts on what matchup MLB wants to see in the World Series. One isn't a surprise. The other one is, so you won't want to miss it. (34:48) After six weeks of the NFL season, it hasn't been as compelling or riveting to date. There are a few feel good stories (Vikings, Texans, Commanders), but overall, there hasn't been much to write about. What's going on with the Cowboys as they got blasted 47-9 at home? Is Jaguars coach Doug Pederson going to leave London with a job before it's all said and done? What got into Eagles coach Nick Sirianni jawing back at the Philly faithful? I'll go around the league to check on what's happening, including a big Monday night game between the Bills-Jets. (50:51) College football had another great weekend, including a classic between Ohio State-Oregon. But it comes with a big caveat. Has the college football playoff ruined the regular season? I'll explain why, even after big wins by Oregon, Penn State and LSU, among others made news on Saturday. (1:02:21) After a very brief mention of Donte DiVincenzo's spat with former assistant Knicks coach, Rick Brunson at the end of a preseason game, how about the Utah Hockey Club? Off to a 3-0 start, they've lit the lamp with plenty of goal scoring as they make their way through the tri-state area of NYC, beating the Islanders and Rangers while looking to sweep their visit with a game in New Jersey tonight. What is happening in Edmonton as the Western Conference Champs are off to an 0-3 start while being outscored 15-3, losing all three games at home!? Hour 1: Derek Carr is headed to New Orleans which leaves Aaron Rodgers as the only QB available that fans would be interested in. Boomer continues to believe it will happen. Daniel Jones' representatives are in NJ to meet with the Giants. A franchise tag is not good for Jones or for the Giants as they want to use that tag on Saquon Barkley. Boomer is happy for the contract Geno Smith signed yesterday. Jerry is here for his first update and starts with today at 4pm as being the deadline for franchise tags. Rich Eisen said he heard of Tom Brady to the Dolphins. Aaron Judge hit his first HR of the spring. Bob Costas was on the Bill Maher podcast and said he was not great for the Yankees/Guardian series. The Knicks have won 9 straight and they play the Hornets tonight. In the last segment of the hour, police surrounded the home of Joe Mixon but the scene has been cleared. There was a shooting but no more updates yet. Boomer's friend had a car stolen right from his driveway. Boomer is happy for Geno Smith, getting paid for his perseverance. Gio said if Aaron Rodgers doesn't come to the Jets, let's go get Jameis Winston :) We also took calls from people who had their car stolen Hour 2: Trey Wingo said Aaron Rodgers and the Jets had conversations yesterday and Rodgers is open to the idea of going to New York. Rich Eisen said he is hearing rumors of Tom Brady to the Dolphins. Boomer said the Jets want Aaron Rodgers here for 2 years or more and for Zach Wilson to sit behind him. Boomer is starting the Kroma cleanse since he was eating like a maniac on vacation last week. Gio said when people are well off and life is going well, you start searching for stuff. Is there more? This is what Aaron Rodgers is doing and now Boomer is doing for Kroma cleanse. Boomer's daughter, Sydney, suggested it. Jerry is back and starts with some Yankees spring training and we wonder if Aaron Boone could still hit a HR. Justin Turner got hit in the face with a fastball yesterday but it looks like he is going to be ok. The Knicks have won nine straight and play the Hornets tonight. In the final segment of the hour, Philip Rivers wanted to come out of retirement at the end of last year. Boomer could see Tom Brady going to Miami. Gio wonders how Mike McDaniel could coach Brady. Gio wonders about the Jets and Lamar Jackson. Boomer thinks he quit on the Ravens and doesn't want someone on the team that quit on a team he was on. Boomer is pretty definitive that Aaron Rodgers is going to be a NY Jet. Would Aaron Rodgers really take Joe Namath's #12? Boomer said if Rodgers comes here, he will not wear #12. Hour 3: Derek Carr signed with the Saints so now the Jets are left with Aaron Rodgers or nothing. The Jets really seemed to love Carr and they continually gushed over him. We also talked about Daniel Jones wanting $45 million or more. Jerry returns for an update and today is the day, at 4pm, franchise tag time. Lamar Jackson wants the Deshaun Watson deal and he's going to die on that hill. Vikings WR KJ Osborn and three others pulled a man from a burning car. Heroes, all of them. It's time for the Chris LoPresti award, an award for a really long question. Today's winner, Keith McPherson. It's a long question. A really long question. He broke the 2 minute mark. Jerry went around the NBA last night. In the final segment of the hour, Gio's old radio partner, Brian Jones, got engaged again. He sent Gio a bunch of pics of his fiance and Gio said that's never happened to him before. Gio said Jets fans in the hallway are very excited because Boomer is very confident of Aaron Rodgers to the Jets. Hour 4: Jets beat reporters seem to be confirming what Trey Wingo tweeted, that the Jets and Rodgers have spoken. The sports books seem to think the Jets are getting Aaron Rodgers. Our friend Rhadamus calls and is mad that he booked a flight and hotel and can't get tix for the live Jersey City show. A caller called Gio a ‘Mary' and Gio called him an ‘Assh**e'. The callers seem to be getting to Gio this segment. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the NFL franchise tag deadline that is 4pm today. Jon Jones won the UFC title and yelled ‘oh yeah'. We heard from Aaron Boone down at Yankees spring training in Tampa. Justin Turner got hit in the face during a spring training game yesterday. Bob Costas was on with Bill Maher and admitted to being off of his game during Yankees/Guardians. Jerry went around the NBA last night. We took another call who said Gio is doing a housewives type show. Gio said he is on two kinds of medication and going to therapy.
Commercial jingles, quarters from the 50 states, Top 5 NBA floppers, and Tito Francona becoming Cheato Francona as the fix was in for Yankees-Guardians.
