For over 50 years, For the Strength of Youth has been a guide for generations of Latter-day Saint youth. I always keep a copy in my pocket, and I share it with people who are curious about our standards. It has been updated and refreshed to better cope with the challenges and temptations of our day. The new version of For the Strength of Youth is available online in 50 different languages and will also be available in print. It will be a significant help for making choices in your life. Please embrace it as your own and share it with your friends. This new version of For the Strength of Youth is subtitled A Guide for Making Choices. To be very clear, the best guide you can possibly have for making choices is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the strength of youth. So the purpose of For the Strength of Youth is to point you to Him. It teaches you eternal truths of His restored gospel—truths about who you are, who He is, and what you can accomplish with His strength. It teaches you how to make righteous choices based on those eternal truths.13 It's also important to know what For the Strength of Youth does not do. It doesn't make decisions for you. It doesn't give you a “yes” or “no” about every choice you might ever face. For the Strength of Youth focuses on the foundation for your choices. It focuses on values, principles, and doctrine instead of every specific behavior. The Lord, through His prophets, has always been guiding us in that direction. He is pleading with us to “increase [our] spiritual capacity to receive revelation.”14 He is inviting us to “hear Him.”15 He is calling us to follow Him in higher and holier ways.16 And we are learning in a similar way every week in Come, Follow Me. We pray that by God's grace, and with your support, we can continue to bring relief to the suffering and hope to the hopeless. --------------------------------------------------------
Today, I would like to witness to you about my Encounter Ministries project. If you have been listening for a while, you know I am in a two-year program with the Encounter School of Ministry. Year 2 students need to complete a ministry group project before they can graduate. I travel to class each week with 4 other ladies from my prayer group, so we thought it would be best to do our project together since we are always together anyway. We also had another student from class join us who lives close to where we met. When we first got together to discuss what we wanted to do, we all had the same thing on our hearts. We wanted to do something to help teenagers. We had several people in our prayer group who were personally touched by teen suicides last summer. I think there were 6 people in a two-week period. We also have been getting a lot of words of prophecy at prayer group over the last year or two that are urging us to pray for the children of the world. With these two things combined, we knew we needed to do something to help teenagers have a renewal of their minds. We knew we needed to come up with some way to help them see how loved they are by the Lord. This world is a rough place, and it is even harder for teens. With social media today, their bullies have easy access to them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It used to be we might be bullied on the bus, at school, or right after school. However, if they wanted to call us up and bully us, they needed to go through our parents, and they weren't likely to do that. Now, they can call, text, or send a message on social media any time of day. Then they also have to deal with the need to compare themselves with everyone they see on social media. Social media portrays the best of the best. Very few people put the real stuff on social media. They take 20 photos and post the best one. They act like they just rolled out of bed and snapped a photo when, in reality, that was probably the 10th photo, and it had a filter to put makeup on and get the lighting correct. No one looks unhappy, and everyone's life is perfect. I know people who seem to be knocking their lives out of the ballpark on social, and then when I am talking to them, they are sad, lonely, and really struggling.I get it. No one wants to air their dirty laundry on social media for the world to see. However, making it seem like all is perfect, when it is the opposite, really messes with people's perception of how the world should be. Imagine if you are a teen and everyone in your social media feed, everyone in your life seems so happy all the time. How do you reconcile that with your life? How does it make you feel to know that your life is not perfect? You are not happy all the time. You don't roll out of bed looking like a model. You don't have it all figured out. Then you start to think, what is wrong with me? Why is everyone else so happy, and I am so messed up?I know adults who struggle with comparison on social media. They see everyone posting about their kids, their spouses, their jobs, and their vacations, and they wonder why they don't have those things. They wonder why they always feel like they are 5 steps behind and the rest of the world seems to have life all figured out. If it affects adults, imagine how much more it affects teens. So, we knew we had to do something. We just weren't sure what. We prayed about it and talked about it, and we decided to come up with a program to talk about their identity in Christ. We wanted to answer this question for them. Who does God say that I am? We talked with the confirmation formation team, and they were happy to have us come in and talk with the confirmation candidates and their sponsors. It all worked out pretty perfectly, actually. They were looking for a candidate/sponsor event, and we were looking for teens to present to.We typed up a proposal for our teacher of how we wanted to run the event. We decided we would first let the kids know how ridiculously loved by God they are. Then we would talk about the lies that we all come to believe about ourselves. Lies like I am not a good mom. I am a loser. I am ugly. No one likes me. No one understands me. I can't do anything right. I am not a good Catholic. God doesn't love me. God will never forgive me. We all tell ourselves lies like this, and we thought it was important to show the kids that these are not true. The world doesn't get to tell us the truth about who we are. Our identity comes from Christ.Next, we decided we would have the students and their sponsors write these lies down on paper and nail them to the cross. We wanted them to know they don't have to carry these lies with them. They can hand them over to Jesus, and then they can replace these lies with the truth of who God says they are. After they do this, we talk about the truth of their identity. We talk about where their true identity comes from and how they can learn more about their true identity. We go on to teach the teens and their sponsors how to listen to the voice of the Lord. We cover the various ways we might hear the Lord talking to us. In our original plan for the project, we would then move on to having the students ask the Lord to share with them what truths he wanted to replace the lies with. However, when we turned our proposal into our teacher, he felt we should add an element of prophecy to the evening. At first, we weren't sure how this would go over. We thought the confirmation formation team leaders, the teens, and their sponsors would all be uncomfortable with this. Sometimes people can just hear the word prophecy and get very uncomfortable. We weren't sure how it would go over, but we really wanted to graduate from this program, so if our teacher said we needed to add prophecy, then we needed to add prophecy. I don't think we really saw the wisdom in it at the time. I think we were doing it because we had to, but we were unsure how it would turn out.Now that we have done the project once, we can see the wisdom in it. I think what our teacher saw, which we didn't necessarily see at the time, was that words alone don't change hearts. He knew the teens needed a personal encounter with the Lord. He knew they needed to hear directly from the Lord how much He loved them. We can teach them all day long, but until they have that personal encounter, it is still just words. We decided that after we explained what prophecy was, we would form three teams of two, and the six of us running the project would speak words of prophecy over each student. We started with a moment of silence so we could ask the Lord what He wanted to say to each student, and then we spoke His words out loud to the student. We asked the sponsor to come up and stand behind the student to witness the words the Lord wanted to speak over their candidate. After we spoke the words of prophecy over them, we asked them to go back to their seat and reflect on what they had just heard. We asked them to write down anything that really spoke to them or touched their heart. The confirmation formation team had printed off a paper that asked the sponsor and their candidate to write down he thing that touched them the most about what was said. After this, we moved on to talking about declarations and how important it is to take the truths they just learned about themselves and turn them into declarations that they can say every day. We gave them some examples of declarations of who God says they are and the Bible scriptures to go along with them. We had the sponsor and the candidate pick up to five declarations that would help them live into their true identity and then share it with one another. We thought declaring them out loud to their sponsor would help make an impact, and also having the sponsors say them to their candidates could be powerful. However, after doing this event for the first time, we realized that we didn't go into enough detail on why declarations are so important. We also think that although the examples we gave them were straight out of the Bible, we might need to write them in a way they can relate to more. From the feedback, we learned they didn't really resonate with them like we thought they would. We will revamp this part for our next presentation. We closed by recapping all we had gone over that night and reminding them of the key things to remember. We then played a song that went very well with digging all the roots of our lies up and replacing them with the truth. The song is called Look What You've Done To Me by Tasha Layton. That is one thing I didn't mention earlier. All throughout the night, we had current, upbeat songs that went along with the various sections of the talk. We figured instead of just hearing our voices all night; they could hear the voices of some younger people singing about the things we were talking about. The last thing we did was ask for feedback on the evening and to see if anyone would be willing to tell us what they liked or didn't like about the night. We had 13 students and their sponsors there that night. The feedback we got was that they loved the music. They loved the songs that we had chosen and the message each song had. What they liked the most, though, was the part about the words of the prophecy. They really liked getting to come up and hear what the Lord wanted to say to them. Even the sponsors loved being able to hear the Lord say such great things about their candidate. One woman said she knew all those things to be true about her niece, but she knew her niece didn't know they were true. So, it was nice to get to hear someone else tell her niece such nice things. Then someone else said they loved nailing the lies to the cross. The paper they used to write the lies on was red, and this candidate said it felt great to nail them to the cross. She said it felt like we were giving Satan a piece of his own medicine.God was in every step of this project. He was there from the conception of the idea through the planning process, and we presented it all throughout the night. The whole time we were planning it, God kept reassuring us that it would touch hearts, and we believe it did. Not just the teens' hearts but those of the sponsors as well. We are so honored that the Lord chose us for this project. We are honored that he chose us to take this class. We are honored that He put the six of us together and put this project in our hearts. We all listened to each other and worked well together to create an amazing event. Thank you, Lord, we love you! Thank you for all the hearts you intend to touch with this presentation. Thank you for showing up and speaking to the candidates through us.
You Get Out What You Put In2 Corinthians 9:6-8 “Here's my point. A stingy sower will reap a meager harvest, but the one who sows from a generous spirit will reap an abundant harvest. Let giving flow from your heart, not from a sense of religious duty. Let it spring up freely from the joy of giving—all because God loves hilarious generosity! Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace so that you will have more than enough of everything —every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.”I was planning to use a different verse today. Then, all of a sudden, this verse popped up in a notification on my phone as the verse of the day. The moment I read it, I felt as if the Holy Spirit said I want you to talk about the concept of “you get what you put into it.” When you first read this verse, you might think of money first. It sort of sounds like they are talking about how much money they will give to the church. In the verses before this section in the Passion Translation, they are talking about a donation they are going to give. I think the Lord wants me to touch on this, but this is not the main point of what He wants me to talk about today. So, let me begin with that to get it out of the way. When it comes to how much money we give to the church, or to the poor, or whoever we are giving money to, this verse is very applicable. This can be a difficult decision to make because we want to make sure we are still able to pay all of our bills and buy all the things we want to buy. However, are we buying much more than we actually need? As the verse says, are we stingy with our giving to the church and yet have plenty of money to waste on things we don't need? Giving to the church is part of our duty, even if we don't want to, even if we disagree with all the church is doing. We are all obligated to give to the church. Many churches will recommend you give 5% of your income to the church and 5% to the poor. This is where this verse comes in handy. It is a good thing to remember when you are deciding how much to give to the church. “A stingy sower will reap a meager harvest.” God cannot be outdone in generosity. We sometimes worry if we give too much, we won't have enough for ourselves. There is no way that God lets you give so much that you don't have enough for yourself. The more you give, the more God gives. God doesn't want us to give just because we have to, though. He wants us to give freely, and He wants us to do it with a joyful heart. Think about how you are giving your money. Are you doing it with a joyful heart? Are you being stingy or are you being generous? What I feel the Lord really wants me to talk to you about today is how much of You, you are giving to the Lord. How much are you putting into your relationship with the Lord? How much time? How much effort? How much vulnerability and openness? This is what jumped out at me when I read this verse this morning. If we are stingy with the time and effort in our relationship with the Lord, then our relationship will reflect that. We can not expect to have a close and intimate relationship with the Lord when we don't put in any effort.I always wondered what people meant when they said they wanted to have an intimate relationship with God or with Jesus. I mean, He is God; how can you have an intimate relationship with the Almighty God in heaven? The idea of it all seemed so foreign to me. I couldn't even picture what that would look like. I couldn't picture how that would work and how I could cultivate that. Yet, I still dove in. I joined a prayer group full of people who clearly knew the Lord intimately, and I learned from them. I would like to pass along what I have learned to you so you can have the same thing they have. Let me start by answering the questions that I had because if I had them, then some of you do too.My first question was, what does it even mean to have an intimate relationship with God? For me, it means really knowing Him and for Him to really know me. It means I know without a doubt of His love for me. I can take any problem to Him, and I know He will be there for me. I know He will comfort me and protect me. I know He will help me solve all my problems if I let Him. I also know He will celebrate with me. When good things happen, we celebrate together. When I need a pep talk, He is ready to give it to me. In short, He is my go-to for all things, and He is never too busy and never too upset. He always receives me with loving arms.My second question was, how do I cultivate this type of relationship? This was surprisingly simpler than I thought. The reason it was simpler than I thought is because this is the type of relationship God wants with each of us. The way you cultivate an intimate relationship with God is the same way you would with a person. Think about your person. The one you can always go to with anything. The one who will celebrate with you when you are happy and cry with you when you are sad. The one who will give you that pep talk you need when you need it because they believe in you way more than you believe in yourself. Think about how that relationship developed. Most likely, it started out by talking with each other and getting to know each other. Then you probably started spending more and more time together. Once you built up trust you started being more open and more vulnerable. Eventually, you grow to really love and trust each other. It's the same with God.It is ok if it is a gradual journey. It is ok if you don't trust God enough to open up and share your deepest darkest secrets with Him at the moment. He is ok with starting at the beginning. He is ok with just chatting with you. Just talking about surface-level stuff if that is what you want to bring to Him right now. The important thing at the beginning is to make the time to sit and talk with Him. What you are talking to Him about is not as important. The next step would be to get to know Him. You can do this in a couple of different ways. First, you can ask Him questions and listen to His answers. God wants to talk to us, and He will reveal things to us if we ask Him. Second, you can spend time in His word. God revealed all we need to know about Him through Jesus. If we want to get to know God, we can spend time in His word and read about the things He has done in the past. You can read stories on-line of the things He is still doing now. If you seek to know God, He will reveal Himself to you in many different ways. It says in Matthew 7:7, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” So, ask questions, seek knowledge and understanding, and knock on doors, and the Lord will help you.Once you start to spend time with Him and you get to know Him better, you will start to trust Him more. You will see you can bring all things to Him, and He will take care of them. If you begin to listen to Him, you will get to know how He talks to you. You will see He is gentle and caring. You will feel His love in a very intimate and personal way. You will understand what people mean when they say yes, God loves all His children, but He also loves you personally and individually. The love of God is something that is like nothing else in the world. What would you give to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God loves you, forgives you, and accepts you? When I hear that question, my answer is, what wouldn't I give? What about you? What is your answer? The verse above begins by saying, “A stingy sower will reap a meager harvest, but the one who sows from a generous spirit will reap an abundant harvest.” When it comes to your relationship with the Lord, you get what you give. If you invest heavily in your relationship with God, you will reap a great harvest. God already wants to have a close relationship with you, so you aren't risking anything by asking Him for it. The last part of the verse above says, “Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace so that you will have more than enough of everything —every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.”A notification just popped up on my phone as I was writing this episode. It was from the Amen app, and it said, “Do we have zeal and urgency to seek and follow Jesus?” Well, if that isn't confirmation of what God wanted to tell us this morning, I am not sure what is. Spend time with the Lord, talk to the Lord, and learn about the Lord. You won't be sorry that you did!Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all those listening to this episode this morning. Lord, I pray that each person who hears this episode desires a close and intimate relationship with you. I pray that over each and every one of them. I pray they seek you, Lord. I pray you let your presence known to them and that they know beyond a shadow of doubt your love for them. Help us find the time to spend with you, Jesus. Help us to be more positive in our thoughts. We love you, Lord, and we ask all this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen.Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. I want to remind you about an audio training I did on how to invite Jesus into our everyday activities. Spending time with God, talking to God, and spending time in His word is a great idea, but finding the time for it can be a problem. This training shows you how to add these things to the things you are already doing. If you would like this training, just go to my website, walkboldlywithjesus.com, and click on the button to get the video, or you can CLICK HERE. I look forward to meeting you here again tomorrow. Remember, Jesus loves you, and so do I. Have a blessed day!Today's word of the Lord was one I received yesterday at a prayer group. We were listening to a song by Tasha Layton called “Look What You've Done.” If you haven't heard this song, I invite you to look it up on YouTube and listen to it. It is an amazing song. In the song, it was talking about the Lord digging all her roots up, and this is the word that came to me: “I want to do this in each one of you. I want to dig the roots up for every single stronghold you have. Jesus died for your sins, yes yours. Let them go. Why do you hold onto them when I have already forgiven them? Why do you listen to the enemy's lies? Why do you let the shame in? I am stronger than the enemy. Is there anything too great for me? Let the shame go. Let my love in. You are blocking it. Open your heart with a few simple words. Come, Lord Jesus, come. I give you permission to come in and heal me. I love you, my children, believe that!"

External success does not mean there are no internal struggles. And yet, we often idolize celebrities and follow people on social media that look like they “have it all together.” If you have ever heard me speak or read any of my books, you've probably heard me say that we need to stop comparing our insides to other people's outsides. Well, today's conversation is going to illustrate why.My guest today is Tasha Layton. She is a contemporary Christian musician, Season 9 contestant on American Idol, former backup vocalist for Katy Perry, and named one of Billboard's Top 5 female Christian artists of 2020. Despite all her success, she couldn't escape the lies that had taken root early in her life.In her new book, Look What You've Done, Tasha shares the lies she allowed herself to believe as she struggled with comparison, self-image, and the uncertainty of finding her purpose. And most importantly, Tasha shares how God continues to bring her wisdom and truth regarding who He is, and who she is meant to be.In this conversation, you'll hear:About Tasha's journeyThe power in naming your emotionsThe difference between conviction and condemnationAnd much more!I hope this conversation brings you hope and helps you uncover the lies in your life!Show Notes: https://jillsavage.org/tasha-layton-151

Do you wonder how you can know the difference? Do you struggle to feel confident in your relationship with God and what He says in his word? Do you sometimes feel stagnant or like you hit a wall in your spiritual life? Hey, I'm your host, Rachael Groll: missionary, author, pastor, and life coach. And I have been there. I, too, was doubting God's voice in my own life. I, too, felt insecure about the things I thought God might be calling me to do. I wanted to make a difference in the world and be obedient to what God was calling me to do, but I wasn't quite sure how to figure out what exactly that was. I kept telling myself that I was wasting time trying to figure it out or waiting for Him to show me. Or that I wasn't qualified to do the things I thought He might be telling me to do. The answer for me was found in the pages of the Bible, as I learned how to understand what it was actually saying. If you are ready to grow in your faith and to step confidently into the calling God has for you, then join me as we dig deep into God's word so you can learn to live out your faith in your everyday life. Friend, you are loved, you are cherished, and you are His. The Hearing Jesus Podcast will encourage and equip you to step into the calling God has for your life, living out your faith in the everyday. Together we will break down walls that keep us from growing spiritually. We will dig deep into our Bibles to understand and connect the Scriptures to our lives. We will boldly obey what God calls us to do, walking through doors that only He can open. Join me for your daily dose of faith, honesty, and prayer. While Northern NSW metal duo Beast Machine may have been around for a number of years, it is only recently that the band has managed to spread their name where it matters – the hearts and ears of a frustrated musical landscape yearning for something they can claim as their own.As a live unit Beast Machine have never failed to deliver, with their dynamic, intense and encompassing performances forcing many-a-jaw to hit the floor, but, until now, have somehow managed to get lost somewhere in translation when it comes to singles. Not that their output has been bad – anything but – but perhaps their song selection could have been better utilized to play to their many strengths.Previous single Frozen hinted at what Beast Machine had to offer but they have certainly dished up the main course with new release Look What You've Done, a pummeling monster of a track that shows Beast Machine in their true, heaviest form.Coco Le Sex Bomb sat down with guitarist/vocalist Reg and drummer Josh for a glimpse inside the world of Beast Machine, discussing the new single, album, upcoming shows, road stories, their live show and much more.
Her incredible voice has taken her to American Idol, season 9, and a 4-year stint as a backup singer for Katy Perry. But Tasha Layton has finally landed in a personal sweet spot, writing and singing music that draws people closer to God. Have you heard her single, “Look What You've Done?” It undoes me! I was honored to hear her share a bit of her journey to this sweet spot of life, including going from performing in stadiums in elaborate productions to intimate gatherings of worship and being a mom and wife. Tasha is transparent and relatable, and also shares about her battle with depression that nearly took her life years ago. She is a breath of fresh air; grateful and grounded in her faith- and her music is just one part of a beautiful soul that you'll get to know on this episode of the podcast. 02:03 Meet Tasha05:15 Searching for truth09:02 Wounded by the Church11:30 Inspiration in nature15:01 Leading worship vs performing16:04 What's next for Tasha?

Tasha Layton talks the stories behind “Look What You've Done” and “Braveheart,” dealing with church hurt, our desire for perfection in our spiritual leader, leaning into our doubt, and our misconception about boundaries.
Growing up in a small town in South Carolina, singer-songwriter Tasha Layton was grounded in her faith, and passionate about music and worship. However, after experiencing a painful split from her childhood church, Tasha had doubts about her faith in Christ and began exploring other religions - a journey that ultimately led her back to Jesus, the only one who can give us a peace that passes all understanding. Tasha has had several songs featured on the top Christian billboard charts, her most recent being “Look What You've Done.” Her difficult story serves as an encouraging reminder that when we are at our weakest, God is at His strongest.ResourcesTasha Layton WebsiteInstagramFacebookTwitter

I recently had the immense privilege of sitting down with my friend Tasha Layton. In this episode I ask her, "How did your music career get started? "How do you keep a balance between a music career that is skyrocketing and your role as wife and mother of small children?" "What has your journey been like?" "Did you have any idea that the release of your song “Into the Sea” would coincide with a worldwide pandemic and bring hope to millions?" Tasha is not only engaging and wonderfully approachable, but her wisdom and faith is far beyond her years. Our conversation was like old friends over coffee sharing the wonder of all God has done in her life. Of course, the truth is, we are old friends. Tasha and I met while studying divinity at Kings University. We became close during that challenging season. We were following the Holy Spirit after receiving the call of God on our lives and had yet to see all the God would do to bring us to the places we are serving now. Oh yes, “Look What You've Done” is appropriate. It is also the title of her newest song. Join me, and my friend Tasha Layton.

More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music
Did you know God has a tone of voice? When He speaks to us, He comforts, encourages, or convicts with kindness. He offers the perfect balance of truth and grace. So if the voice inside your head has an accusing tone, then it's not from your heavenly Father. This is what Tasha Layton sings about in her song "Look What You've Done," and it's what we discover in Scripture as well. Let's compare and contrast the voice of evil and righteousness together this week. In this episode, I discuss: Taking a B.I.T.E. out of Scripture - this week's Bible Interaction Tool Exercises include: Compare and contrast Make a list The 30 Day Music Challenge Accusations and agreements The Place We Find Ourselves Podcast - Episode 42: Accusation & Episode 43: Agreements How satan is an accuser and a deceiver - Revelation 12:9-10 How satan is the "father of lies" - John 8:43-44 How satan seeks to devour us - 1 Peter 5:8 How satan as a strategy and sets traps - 1 Timothy 3:7 One of satan's strategies -- to accuse you of sin and bring condemnation on you to the point that you make an agreement to walk in the accusation rather than the truth and freedom of Christ How satan is our accuser, but God is our judge and has canceled the record of debt that stood against us - Colossians 2:13-15 Paying attention to the tone - evil's accusations are unkind and harsh, but God's confrontations never lack kindness How the accuser wants to deceive you into forming agreements with his accusations How spending time in God's Word is part of His freedom plan Psalm 52 and how it relates to our discussion about agreeing with evil rather than trusting in the steadfast love of God Additional Resources Lyrics - NewReleaseToday.com Chords - Ultimate Guitar Tabs Behind the song "Look What You've Done" with Kevin Davis -New Release Today Article This Week's Challenge Read and meditate on Psalm 52 this week. If you've ever stopped and really thought about your life, you've probably been in awe of where God has taken you from and where He is taking you to. Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing New Beat Fund over Zoom video! West Coast-based alternative/indie trio NEW BEAT FUND have revealed plans to release a new album in spring of 2021 marking their first music since 2018’s critically acclaimed album Chillanthropy—which included two collaborative tracks alongside close friends in The Driver Era and DJ duo Two Friends. The album will be self-written and produced by the trio who run their own production company under the moniker “The Fund” out of the legendary Sound City Studio Center (Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Red Hot Chili Peppers) in Van Nuys, CA.The band just released a striking and cinematic music video for their new single “Look What You’ve Done.” The track is an interpolation of the trio’s own original music mashed with rockers AFI’s 2000 single “The Lost Souls” featured on their fifth studio album The Art of Drowning.“AFI are a huge inspiration to us, and somehow a piece of music we loved so much growing up has blossomed into a new musical landscape through our creative filter,” shares NEW BEAT FUND. “Not only is the song a proper homage to our musical roots, but it became the sonic template for the new material.”The video for “Look What You’ve Done,” as seen below, was directed by South Korean film maker Dawn Suhyun Shim and filmed at various locations across Southern California. Taking inspiration from the classic film The Seventh Seal(1957), the video is a cinematic vignette experimenting with visual elements to express imperfection.“When I first listened to the song ‘Look What You’ve Done,’ I was drawn to the inner emotional struggle,” shares Shim. “The three lifeless characters stuck in one moment draw a parallel between themselves and a mythical figure. Jeff is mounted in the water looking out to the horizon, Paul is buried in the sand gazing at the sky and Shelby is stuck in his own reflection.“The first reference I brought to the artist was the iconic opening scene from ‘The Seventh Seal,’” Shim continues. “The knight is on the beach playing chess by himself when Death appears to inform him he is to die. Trying to outsmart Death, he challenges him to a game of chess. Like Death confronting the knight, the mythical figure in the video confronts the three lifeless characters, but in a curious way. The mythical figure feels great sympathy and releases them by connecting them.”“In a chess game, pieces must keep moving. Similarly, life keeps moving whether you are feeling stuck. To emphasize that feeling, we experimented with an in-camera shutter effect. The motion blur aids in both the illusion of time and the feeling of isolation. When we see someone looking at their own reflection, we interpret that a person’s soul is contained in their reflection. The mirror expresses a feeling of ambiguity, when one finds his reflection it’s revealed as more of a distortion.”NEW BEAT FUND consists of guitarist/lead vocalist Jeff Laliberté, bassist/DJ Paul Laliberté and guitarist Shelby Archer. Their debut album Sponge Fingerz was released in 2015 via Red Bull Records and was co-produced with Matt Wallace (Faith No More, Maroon 5) and mixed by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Angels & Airwaves). Following its release, the band was seen on tour with acts including Blink 182, AWOLNATION and Dirty Heads in addition to appearing at several major U.S. festivals. national radio airplay, worldwide playlists, and major festivals across the US. Gregg Hinzelman is an American-born Baylor University alum who currently works with Canada's arm of Campus Crusade for Christ, which is called Power to Change. Gregg has written a book called "What Are You Trusting God For?" which both paints a compelling Kingdom vision for Christians to buy into AND is exceedingly practical in how an everyday Christian can take steps toward greater Kingdom impact. He has mentored The CC Podcast's host, Matt Reisetter, in their work together with Power to Change Digital Strategies. This conversation about digital strategy and his book will encourage and challenge any Christian to think bigger and become more focused on using their time and resources to advance God's Kingdom here on earth. Host: Charles "IamBranded" Madison Guest: Music Icon Melba Moore Call in number (949) 270-5912 Hailing from a musical family, Ms. Moore graduated from the famed Arts High School in Newark, New Jersey. At the encouragement of her parents, she went on to pursue music education at Montclair State University where she earned her Bachelor of Music Education Degree. However, her inner voice told her to see if she could make it as a performer. Ms. Moore’s stepfather, pianist Clement Moorman, introduced her to several agents which eventually landed her a role in the cult classic musical HAIR. It was in HAIR that Ms. Moore became the first African-American woman to replace a white actress, who happened to be the acclaimed Diane Keaton, in a lead role on Broadway. A year and a half later, she starred in PURLIE, which earned her a TONY Award for her portrayal as “Lutiebelle". Ms. Moore later appeared alongside the iconic Eartha Kitt as “Marsinah" in the musical TIMBUKTU! Another first came when she landed the female lead role on Broadway as "Fantine" in the acclaimed musical, Les Misérables. Melba Moore was the first and last African-American woman to perform in that role. Although Ms. Moore enjoyed working on Broadway, she didn’t want to forget about her first love…music. Deciding to focus more on her recording career, she made her recording debut on Mercury Records with "I Got Love", followed by "Look What You’re Doing To The Man". She was nominated for a Grammy Award for ‘Best New Artist.’ During this time, numerous Grammy nominations, recordings, and television shows, including her own variety show entitled The Melba Moore-Clifton Davis Show, followed
