Kinnear, a former physical education teacher, has been involved in the VFL/AFL industry since the late 1980's. He coached with the Carlton U19's, then working as the Western Jets Regional Manager in the TAC Cup before moving to Brisbane, to be a part of their AFL recruiting program in 1994. After 12 seasons and three premierships, his next move was to the Sydney Swans, where he remains today. In this episode, Kinnear talks about his start in recruiting, the early years working at the Bears, the amalgamation with Fitzroy, the pressures of having the number one pick, building lists that win premierships, the changes in drafting to the current day and some of his favourite drafting moments.  A great listen with the sixty-ninth member of 'The 90's Club Footy Podcast'. It is autumn in the southern hemisphere which means it is harvest time for hops south of the equator.  This episode of the All About Beer Podcast is all about New Zealand Hops.  Don and Em chat with Brent McGlashen of Mac Hops and Ron Beatson of NZ Hops.Today, New Zealand hops are known for their tropical, fruity flavors, but it wasn't always that way.  The McGlashen family itself has been growing hops for five generations and have watched New Zealand hops evolve from a commodity crop that was profitable based purely on maximum output, to the specialized, premium product it is today, highly sought by craft brewers around the world.Much of that change is the result of hops breeding, which has improved the agronomics of hops, but also taken advantage of New Zealand's unique soil and climate. Beatson is such a legendary hop breeder, they named a hop after him - Nectaron, but he is also responsible for breeding such legendary hops as Nelson Sauvin, Motueka and Riwaka. Beatson  discusses what makes New Zealand hops unique. This Episode is Sponsored by:Estrella GaliciaEstrella Galicia is an independent, family-owned brewery  in northwest Spain, founded in 1906.Estrella Galicia Cerveza Especial is a world class lager, brewed using the finest Spanish malts, locally  cultivated Galician hops and the best brewing practices, in a state-of-the-art facility in A Coruna. This week on Beer is a Conversation we meet Dr Ron Beatson. It's not many people who get to have the impact on a country's industry that Ron has had on the hops industry in New Zealand. His research has been credited as having transformed NZ Hops from a cottage industry supplying hops to NZ-based brewers to a sophisticated export product with more than 85% of production now exported to the some of the world's leading beer producing nations. In Nectaron he has also had a hop named after him. I was in Nelson for the first time and had the chance to speak with Dr Beatson about a career that saw him move from research into tobacco into hops, what he loves about the industry and also where he sees hops and hop research going. LISTEN TO MICHAELA SOKOLICH-BEATSON TALK WITH D'ARCY AND GORAN ABOVESeven-game losing streak? Make it eight to Australia.Failing to improve on last month's promising Quad Series five-goal loss to the Australian Diamonds, the Silver Ferns fell to a 57-42 defeat in Brisbane this afternoon.Tipping off the Constellation Cup in style, however, the Ferns were level 10-10 with the Diamonds after what looked a promising performance from the New Zealand side in the opening quarter. But that's when things fell apart.Falling off the pace in dramatic fashion, the Ferns responded with their lowest quarter score (six) against the Aussie side in almost a decade and struggled to make back lost ground after falling behind by a massive 17 goals. An optimistic Noeline Taurua, who was desperate to claim her first win over the Australians as head coach of the New Zealand side, said she still saw improvements on the court but ultimately labelled the Ferns as too inconsistent."There are clear areas when we are under the pressure as to what we need to do, we do it sporadically," she said after the match."In reality when you look at the scoreboard like that, it's definitely an uppercut but also there's some really positive stuff and we've just got to keep the faith in what we're doing.""The positives are we can only keep getting slapped and when are we going to learn? That's what it's all about."Silver Ferns captain Laura Langman didn't hesitate to put her hand up for leading a weak midcourt performance which left the New Zealand shooters little opportunity to score, assuring it would be an area of focus ahead of their second test."We all identified those soft errors that we were doing, I was guilty of a number today and it's just not good enough and not international standard so we need to sort that out and that'll put us in the fight," Langman said."If everyone's doing four, or five [mistakes], and I was doing a lot, it's costly."Young goal shoot Aliyah Dunn performed well in her first starting seven appearance before her opportunities to score became limited and was replaced by Maia Wilson during the second quarter. The Silver Ferns then struggled to keep up with the pace as their rivals took control of the clash.Veteran Maria Folau remained consistent, leading her shooters with a decent 90 per cent performance but it wasn't until Taurua called Te Paea Selby-Rickit on at goal attack in the final quarter that things started to shift.Defensively, the Silver Ferns provided plenty of impetus with none better than the defensive pairing of Katrina Grant and Jane Watson to put the heat on Australia's shooters. The defending duo grabbed a game-high four intercepts before Sulu Fitzpatrick courageously took to the court for her first Silver Ferns appearance in seven years.Connections began to flow again in the final quarter as the Ferns' midcourt settled and Selby-Rickit's combination with Folau shifted into gear. But it was too little too late to make back the hefty amount of lost ground. The Ferns will face the Diamonds again on Wednesday night in Townsville before heading home for the third test in Hamilton.

What is the first thing any person does when they get an award, achieve something great or succeed in their pursuits? Ok probably they say thank you first to whoever gave them award, but immediately after they tend to heap gratitude upon those who help them get there. Successful people, among many others are, are often the first to admit that they couldn’t have done whatever they did to succeed without the help and guidance of others. Yes, whether an athlete, an entrepreneur, or simply someone wanting to make the most of life, coaching is a critical element to realizing your full potential. There is an ever growing trend, and it is a trend that podcasting has ridden in a major way of people seeking advice, tips, and how tos from others who have made it in their chosen field. Indeed the self-help industry has perhaps never been bigger than it is today. It seems many of us are looking for others who have done it to tell us how they have done it in such a way that we can simply follow their success manual and reproduce what others have done. Yes there is a massive market searching for, and indeed a very wealthy industry providing answers. Answers. Are answers really what we need though? A great coach is a person who has the ability to help someone be the best they can be, not by giving them answers but by asking the right questions. Yes questions are the key to great coaching, and coaching is the key to great success. So the true path to success lies not in discovering answers, but in seeking the right questions to unlock your ability to be the best you possible. In today’s podcast, I sat down with Lesley Beatson, a coaching expert from Rossland, BC. Through asking the right questions she has helped coach numerous athletes to high performance, CEO to business success and average everyday people to a better, happier place. Lesley walks u through what she loves about coaching, and provides a few tips, questions, not answers, that we can all use right now to help self-coach ourselves to being the best us we can be.

Prior to the 2015 general election, the Conservative Party undertook in its manifesto to repeal the Human Rights Act 1998 and to enact a British Bill of Rights. In this video, Mark Elliott addresses three key questions raised by these proposals:First, what lies behind the desire of some politicians to secure the Human Rights Act's repeal? Second, how might a British Bill of Rights differ from the present legislation? And, third, what constitutional obstacles might lie in the way of the implementation of these reforms? In relation to the last of those three issues, the argument is developed that although the UK Parliament has the legal power to legislate for the proposed changes, the increasingly multi-layered nature of the British constitution limits Parliament's capacity to exploit its sovereign legislative authority. In particular, the constraining effects of international law - in the form of the European Convention on Human Rights - and the devolved nature of the modern British constitution are likely to limit the UK Government's room for manoeuvre. As a result, it is likely to be difficult to deliver upon the manifesto commitments that were made in a legally coherent and constitutionally legitimate manner.Dr Mark Elliott is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of St Catharine's College. The House of Lords Reform Bill, which is currently before Parliament, is the latest of many attempts to reform the upper chamber of the UK Parliament. It is over a hundred years since the enactment of the Parliament Act 1911, which changed the balance of power between the Lords and the Commons, but which was intended only as a stopgap measure pending the transformation of the Lords into an elected chamber. In this video, Dr Mark Elliott assess the House of Lords Reform Bill, arguing that a commitment to democracy does not necessarily require an elected House of Lords – and that the debate about reforming the upper chamber must take due account of the wider institutional and constitutional framework. Dr Mark Elliott is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of St Catharine's College. His main research interests are in the fields of constitutional and administrative law. Dr Elliott's recent publications include Elliott and Thomas, Public Law (OUP 2011); Elliott, Beatson, Matthews and Elliott's Administrative Law: Text and Materials (OUP 2011, 4th edition); and Forsyth, Elliott, Jhaveri, Scully-Hill and Ramsden (eds), Effective Judicial Review: A Cornerstone of Good Governance (OUP 2010). Dr Elliott was the 2011 Legal Research Foundation Visiting Scholar at The University of Auckland, New Zealand. In 2010, he was awarded a University of Cambridge Pilkington Prize for excellence in University teaching. He writes a blog - http://publiclawforeveryone.wordpress.com/ - which includes information for people applying, or thinking of applying, to study Law at university. Law in Focus is a series of short videos featuring academics from the University of Cambridge Faculty of Law, addressing legal issues in current affairs and the news. These issues are examples of the many which challenge researchers and students studying undergraduate and postgraduate law at the Faculty.
