Hiring on a unicorn, or building a whole team of them, isn't about narrowing in on uber-unique people who possess the “just right” combination of skills to help you succeed in your spa business. Actually, building a Unicorn Team is about getting ultra clear on your brand and the values that drive it. From there, you're able to navigate, motivate, and communicate as the Unicorn Leader you are, and thus, rally and lead other Unicorns who want to build your brand with you, too. Here to walk us through the foundation of that innovative process is Jen Kem, the author of the new book, "Unicorn Team: How to Rally the Right People Around the Next Big Winning Idea that Changes the World.” Named Forbes' top brand strategist, Jen's company, Master Brand Media, represents influencers, celebrities, CEOs, experts, specialists, authors and speakers to get seen, heard and paid more through brand management, team optimization and corporate brand collaborations. With a focus on the four essential areas for brand success called Brand T.I.M.E. - Team, Identity, Messaging and Experiences - Jen and her team of Strategizers and Mobilizers have advised over 400,000 leaders to grow their brand, expand their businesses and lead teams who "get" their mission and follow-through on their vision. In her upcoming book, "Unicorn Team,” she outlines the frameworks for everyone to leverage the concept of Brand T.I.M.E. so that they can make the next level impact they know possible. In this episode, we discuss: Why your team is a critical piece of the entire brand experience you're building (yes, solo aestheticians, this applies to you, too!) Social media success thrives off of authentic, real-time content. Still, a business owner building a brand needs an extra edge of professionalism and polish than your everyday social media user or influencer. You need to showcase your space and services and tell a story that emotionally resonates with your ideal clients so they can easily decipher whether you're the expert to help them achieve their goals. So, how do you do that? One piece of the puzzle is crafting the right visual narrative, which I'm discussing with my guest on this episode, Brianna Shrader. Beyond the fact that retail revenue can make or break your spa's profitability, generating more retail revenue is one of the best ways to create cash infusion since your strategy should largely hinge on your existing clientele, which is always easier to sell to than bringing in new leads and clients. And, of course, we're never solely focused on the sale; we're approaching these five strategies from a place of sales as service, so don't let the feeling of sales being “slimy” keep you from growing that retail revenue while bolstering your client relationships and the results you're working with them to achieve. Joining me on the mic is Team Addo coach Sara Sykes Moore, a retail rockstar in her own brick-and-mortar spa, and you won't want to miss her value-rich insights. In this episode, we discuss: Our top five strategies for selling more retail to your existing clientele and using retail to draw in new clients Leaning on educating your client as a top way to sell and taking note of how to sell individually to each client based on their personal season of life Our top retail selling tips that make selling retail a natural part of your client process rather than a sales activity you have to sludge through How to transform retail selling into a practice that showcases your thoughtfulness To read the full show notes for this episode, visit: https://www.addoaesthetics.com/podcast/ep404 Keep the conversation going inside the Spa Marketing Made Easy Community by clicking here.

Many aestheticians start as solos, and with time and business growth, a natural next step is shifting out of a solo suite and into a storefront. In that shift, there are countless things to consider and decisions to make. “Building a business and life you love” has been integral to the Addo Aesthetics mission statement since day one. Part of how building a business and life you love manifests is that when it comes to taking vacation time, it's not an attempt to escape the trappings of life and work. Instead, it's an enrichment, a time to reflect, reinvest in yourself, and pour back into your cup in a different environment so you return to life and work with a fresh perspective and a renewed sense of purpose. If you're not at that place yet, don't fret; this is why we work to build systems-based businesses so that vacation time doesn't feel like an escape or even an impossibility. In this episode, I'm sharing some of my biggest takeaways from time spent disconnected this summer and how you can take a “vacation” (no plane ticket required) to reflect and make big moves in your life and business, too. In this episode, I go over: How I define “vacation” in the context of taking time away from your business and why I believe it's a critical activity for Spa CEOs What vacation time allows us to do as the leader and visionary of our businesses Four of my key takeaways and top lessons from taking a month-long vacation in Europe this summer Insights gleaned from my time on vacation why they're my North Star in building a business that supports a life that I love and how you can do that, too To read the full show notes for this episode, visit: https://www.addoaesthetics.com/blog/398 Keep the conversation going inside the Spa Marketing Made Easy Community by clicking here.

The magic “million dollar mark” is a goal my team and I frequently hear within our coaching programs and among our Spa CEO students and clients, and for good reason. Being a seven-figure business owner is a huge accomplishment, one that many small businesses don't achieve, especially women (a statistic we're set out to change among spa owners!). However, just as frequently as we hear that goal, we see the same mistakes made by spa owners that hinder their ability to grow to that million-dollar-per-year mark. The good news is that these mistakes aren't complicated to fix. But they do require consistency in your commitment to being and acting like a Spa CEO because, when you own that role and what you need to do to fulfill it, these are mistakes you'll naturally avoid. Join me and Team Addo coach Nicole Cooley for our second episode of Finance Month on the Spa Marketing Made Easy podcast, where we discuss: The five most common mistakes spa owners make keeping them from hitting $1 million in annual revenue Why knowing your numbers is critical to your ability to reach $1 million as well as how to analyze those numbers so you can leverage them Nicole's tips for creating a cash reserves calculation that works specifically for you Understanding lines of credit and how to leverage loans and other financial assistance to grow your business How scheduling and capacity planning play into your big picture goals, plus how to have several success plans so you're never left wondering what move to make next on your journey to $1 million in annual revenue To read the full show notes for this episode, visit: https://www.addoaesthetics.com/blog/393 Keep the conversation going inside the Spa Marketing Made Easy Community by clicking here.
“It's one-click to get this, that and the other, so we really need to do a deep-dive and check in a few times per year to really make sure we're scaling back and focusing on not wasting." That's just one of the nuggets you'll glean from this week's episode, which is all about lowering your spa's operating expenses. Beyond making more sales, the other simplest way to create more cash available in your business is to slash those expenses, especially the ones that aren't bringing you a return on your investment. Joining me on the mic on this episode of Spa Marketing Made Easy, we have Nicole Cooley, one of our Team Addo and Growth Factor Framework coaches who approaches money in a way that combines numbers, values, beliefs, and dreams, making it a topic you can actually feel excited about and empowered by as you work toward growing and scaling your spa business. In this episode, we discuss: Where to begin analyzing your expenses and what you can easily cut first Why it's critical to begin incorporating your patterns and behaviors into your financial system How tracking your marketing efforts plays into your overall financial plan, and key points of consideration on how to adjust your marketing budget Nicole and Daniela's top tips on making money decisions that align with your overall business vision and growth plan To read the full show notes for this episode, visit: https://www.addoaesthetics.com/blog/392 Keep the conversation going inside the Spa Marketing Made Easy Community by clicking here.
While I no longer work in the treatment room, I'm an aesthetician at heart, and when I attended a recent DermaConcepts event in the DMV area, I had the pleasure of sitting in on one of Toni Lee Roldan-Ortiz's presentations focused on the unique science of Vitamin A delivery that DermaConcepts delivers through their Environ line. I gleaned a ton of new insights during that presentation, and since Addo Aesthetics is a strategic partner with DermaConcepts, I knew I had to have Toni Lee on the show. Toni Lee has over 30 years in the beauty industry where she began as a television and celebrity makeup artist, and with time, followed her passion into skincare and became a licensed esthetician who also holds certifications in paramedical camouflage makeup, Pastiche Advanced Skin Analysis, and Oncology Aesthetics. With extensive experience at a prominent plastic surgery office in New York where she helped grow the practice, train the team, and create treatment protocols as well as build sales as their lead aesthetician, Toni Lee eventually shifted into her current role as a National Master Trainer and Sales Manager for DermaConcepts, the exclusive distributor of Environ Skin Care in the USA, where she trains physicians, nurses and estheticians on the leading science and skincare that Environ delivers. In this episode, we discuss: The importance of Vitamin A for everyone and many skin conditions The science behind how DermaConcepts is delivering Vitamin A in their Environ products Why lipid forms of Vitamin A are more beneficial to achieving best results for our client regardless of skin condition or season To read the full show notes for this episode, visit: https://www.addoaesthetics.com/blog/391 Keep the conversation going inside the Spa Marketing Made Easy Community by clicking here.
