In this episode, Lyn interviews Etienne Peirsman who shares his story of being in almost complete kidney failure after a staph infection. He talks about his near death experience and how stillness and listening to his intution allowed his body to heal itself. We also dove into what craniosacral is (I highly recommend it!), why it is an important modality to support healing, and the importance of touch in our health and healing. About Etienne: Highly inspirational and respected teacher in the field of CranioSacral, Etienne Peirsman came to Cranio in a non-traditional fashion. After a a staph infection left him with nearly 20% kidney function, he found that preparing to die brought him the clarity of total silence. In a remarkable turn of events, he was able to heal his own body, which led him to travel to the Osho International Meditation Center, where he was first introduced to Cranio, during an immersive meditation and bodywork training. Etienne describes Cranio as the the closest thing to that wonderful silence he found during his near death experience, and from that time, 31 years ago, it became his life's passion. His journey led him first to apprentice at the Upledger Institute in Florida, then teach at Bastyr University in Washington and the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts. He is the founder of Peirsman Cranio as well as the CranioSacraal Therapie Academy in Holland, where he originated the CranioSacral Professional Organization and is an honorary member of The Dutch CranioSacral Practitioner Society. Author of the pioneering book, "Craniosacral Therapy for Babies and Small Children" published by Penguin Random House, Etienne is about to publish his second book "Tantric Aspects of CranioSacral". It is truly a unique experience to learn Cranio from such a passionate, talented teacher who infuses his classes with good humor and a deep dive into stillness. He strives to use simple language that engages our spontaneity. His methods are the middle ground between biomechanics Upledger style and biodynamic Sutherland style. In his classes, students learn to start from a no-mind space, a place where the mind can take a vacation, allowing their practice to unfold in non-duality, or what he calls the Midline. He emphasizes the power of touch to stimulate the secretion of oxytocin, a hormone that brings a feeling of oneness and values clarity as the result of being in touch with that Midline that connects us with our life-force, our true and infinite potential. Etienne travels the world with his life partner Toshiko, teaching where he is invited to share this opportunity of radical self transformation. He is also launching his first ever online class, that will have fascinating lectures and detailed instruction on all the hand placements, as a resource for students to learn and enjoy Cranio. In this episode, Lyn interview Susan Michel who shares her story of being a 2-time suicide survivor. Susan talks about what made her want to commit suicide and what pulled her back to choosing to live. In addition, we talk about the book "A Course in Miracles," as well as Susan's newly released book "Surrender to Joy." Susan talks about the importance of slowing down, feeling our emotions, and how doing so ultimately leads to healing and joy. We discuss why focusing on positive thinking alone can actually create blocks to the results that we want. About Susan: Susan is a 2-time suicide survivor and author of Surrender to Joy: From Suicide to Serenity. Based on the principles of A Course in Miracles, a spiritual thought system that she has studied and taught for 33 years, she helps women identify and process emotional pain so transformation can occur and they can grow and open up to their innate brilliance. In today's world we are taught that to create a positive life, we must think positive thoughts. That is only partial truth. Without stepping into our pain first, joy is impossible. Susan initially learned this truth while struggling with clinical depression in 1985. As a young woman, she felt abandoned and betrayed by her dad and everyone else in her life. Her life's journey hit a major turning point at the age of 20 when she tried to commit suicide twice. With 6 bottles of sleeping pills inside of her, she imagined her father lying over ger dead body in tears. She wanted him to feel her pain. Then she realized that sheI didn't really want to die, she just wanted to kill the pain. Her joy was on the other side of all of that pain and she didn't have the tools to process it. Once she found them, she found that the keys to true transformation are forgiveness and gratitude. Her business is Trust Transformational Truth. When we can trust our inner guidance system instead of trying to prove our worth, life starts to flow more smoothly. In this episode, Lyn talks about why hypnosis is, how it helps you to access and reprogram your subconscious mind to help create change in your life and health, as well as dispelling myths and misconceptions you might have about hypnosis (like you will be made to do something silly or you will lose control). Lyn then shares why she has chosen to incorporate hypnosis into her healing work and the role that the mind and our beliefs have in our ability to heal.
As part of a new series for the podcast, Lyn is interviewing those with inspiring stories of how they took charge of their health and healing. Today, Lyn interviews Amy Stein who is an herbalist, an energy medicine educator, and a PAUSE trauma informed breathwork facilitator. Amy shares her story of struggling to navigate through the medical system over the past 12 years and to figure out what was causing a wide range of physical symptoms she was experiencing. Ultimately, Amy learned that she had to empower herself to take charge of her own health and not rely on "experts" to figure it out. Amy's bio: Amy's mission is to educate and empower others who are suffering with physical, mental or emotional health issues to learn to reconnect with the innate intelligence of our bodies along with Mother Nature. She believes we can be our own best healers when we can quiet the internal and external noise in order to hear the body's messages for healing. Reminding ourselves that we get to choose what is best for us. Her approach is a mind-body-spirit one which uses the “power of the plants”, energy medicine techniques and breathwork to assist in reconnecting you back to your body. It's been quite awhile since I recorded any podcasts and I've felt inspired recently to reboot the podcast. In this episode, I start with my why and my story of how I became the hero of my own health story. Even if you've heard my story before, listening this time might be different as I've been reflecting recently aout the lessons I've learned through the journey and how it can help others to learn how to become their own heroes. While experts can be helpful to us on our journey, ultimately it is up to US to really take the reigns and become empowered to heal.

In this episode of the podcast, Lyn talks about a variety of reasons that we can fall into the trap of self-sabotage when we are making positive changes in our lives. In this episode, Lyn explores common ideas about what self-care is and how we can broaden our definition and understanding of self-care. While many see self-care as getting a massage, pedicure, or other pampering type of service, self-care is more than that and it doesn’t have to mean spending money to do. Lyn shares her own definition of self-care and explores how to address issues like not having enough time for it, having too many other commitments, and more.
In this episode of the show, Lyn talks about how we live in a society that over glorifies productivity and “getting stuff done” above the health and well-being of our bodies. While this is the paradigm that we are taught as a society, it is one that has detrimental effects on our health. Lyn shares more about the impact that constantly being in “go, go, go mode” has on our health, especially over time. She also shares how learning to instead rest when our bodies need and to also honor our mental and emotional health needs is vital to our well-being. This episode is a part of a larger conversation we as a society need to have about our health and well-being.

This episode was inspired by a conversation I had with a new client last week about how many days she feels "sub par." It inspired me to talk more about this subject as I see this as a common pattern for people to say feeling tired, achy, brain fog, hormonal, and other symptoms are just "normal" and many times those symptoms get attributed to "getting older," even when we are in our 30s, 40s, and 50s. This episode dives into why these things really AREN'T normal and invites you to take a look at what symptoms you may be writing off as normal that really aren't.
In this episode, Lyn shares her journey of losing over 25 pounds in the past year, as well as discussing her lifelong challenge with weight loss. She also dives into a few weight loss myths and talks about ways that we can finally be successful in our weight loss journey.
