In this series episode with host Kendra Semmen, author Angie Ward says although the issue of complementarianism vs. egalitarianism isn’t a “first-tier” issue like the doctrine of the gospel, she appreciates both views. Having come from a background that believes women should not be pastors, she now believes they have that right in Christ. While there are several levels to calling and various ways God can extend a leadership call, nowhere does the Bible teach that either gifts or secondary callings are bestowed according to gender. In fact, women preached, prophesied, and led in both the Old and New Testaments . . . sometimes over men. (See the examples of Deborah in Judges 4–5, Huldah in 2 Kings 22, Anna in Luke 2, Priscilla in Acts 18, and Junia in Romans 16. ) The exercise of calling was sometimes limited by gender, but the fact of calling was not. Angie Ward is Program Manager for the WA Traffic Safety Commission. She provides some details on the new "Distracted Driver Law" that takes effect Sunday July 23. NO hand-held cell phone use! Hands-free is allowed, such as thru Bluetooth, or cell placed in a holder. BUT with that, only a single touch action is allowed: to start a function such as GPS or music before you drive. "Research shows that phone conversations reduce visual attention." First ticket is $136. A second within 5 years is $234. Important to note, it's on your record for insurance agencies to see. Best policy, don't risk a ticket, but don't risk your life and the lives of others on the road. http://wtsc.wa.gov/ and on Facebook
