(Spoiler Section Length - 14min 41sec)From the creator of The Triplets of Bellville comes a film about an old magician living in a time where his talents are valued less and less by the day. While Triplets had sparse dialogue, this film goes even further than that while maintaining a less exaggerated style, both visually and in what few vocalizations do occur. This lends it even more of an 'artsy' flair, making it unsurprising that it was nominated for an academy award but also equally unsurprising that it never truly had a chance. A decade and a half later, does it still retain the flair that got it nominated? Listen to find out!

A recent incident in St. Clair County has rekindled efforts to pass legislation aimed at protecting DCFS and Adult Protective Services workers. Last week, a Bellville resident disarmed and fired an officer's gun during an investigation, though no injuries were reported. This has prompted House Minority Leader Tony McCombie to push for her 2018 bill, inspired by the tragic deaths of DCFS workers Pam Knight and Deidre Silas, to become law. The proposed "Knight-Silas Act" would mandate a three-year minimum sentence for attacks on these workers, paralleling penalties for assaults on teachers and firefighters, despite previous opposition.

• It took long enough, but La Vega has finally made it into the state rankings at No. 10. Obviously there are stout teams in Class 4A Div. II like Carthage, West Orange-Stark and Bellville, some of whom are in the Pirates' region. So what does a path to Jerryworld look like for La Vega?• If it's Week 11, that means a lot of games have playoff implications, including West-Whitney, which is a longtime rivalry. Who you got in this one, and considering how tough this loaded district is, how far can the winner go in the postseason, even as a fourth-place team?• This is the end of the regular season, which means there is a lot of football left to be played. But before we turn the page to postseason action, what's your most memorable thing that's happened so far in Centex football?• New Midway quarterback Andrew McNair is nicknamed "Sunshine," which seems like a clear "Remember the Titans" reference. So let's come up with some movie-related nicknames for Centex players, and even give ourselves some nicknames, too.----- Music: https://purple-planet.com Hosted on Acast. Beverly Logan was living in Bellville, Illinois when she was last heard from, in January 2022. She was also known to frequent homes in Warrenton, Missouri, and Belleflower, Missouri. A home in Belleflower was searched in April 2022, and many of Beverly's personal belongings were found. In June 2022, authorities were finally able to track down the man who lived in that home for questioning. A standoff ensued however, when that man, Charles Story, threatened to shoot anyone who arrested him. That incidence would end peacefully, thank God, and Charles was taken into custody on other outstanding warrants. He maintains his innocence in Beverly's disappearance and authorities have stated he is not a suspect. Beverly and her vehicle- a 2019 Blue Nissan Versa- remain missing. Weather for Baltimore on Sunday looks like it's going to pour. Kyle Shanahan gave an update on Deebo Samuel and his shoulder. Kevin Burkhardt was on the Jay Glazer podcast and talked about his prep before the game. Shaun Morash doesn't know how to pronounce ‘primary'. He also doesn't know what the name of the President mountain is. John Minko called his 500th St. John's basketball game. In the final segment of the hour, Tyra Banks was sitting in between two furries at the Knicks/Nets game. Gio had an experience with furries at a hotel once. Boomer segways into the World War II documentary on Netflix. A caller wonders if Boomer remembers his father, a teammate at Maryland. He didn't. Gio thinks he should have lied.
Hour 1 Jim Harbaugh has been hired to be the head coach of the L.A. Chargers. That's great news for Chargers fans, however many there are. We also talked about things that could be holding up Bill Belichick becoming the head coach in Atlanta. Boomer compares it to Bill Parcells going to the Jets and why it takes a long time to get things done if it involves the front office. Gio said he would blow everybody out of the front office if that's what Belichick wanted. Jerry is here for his first update but first we talked about Gio and Jerry both wearing almost the exact same gray hoodie. Nick Sirianni met the media and talked about growing and fresh ideas. In fact, he kept referencing ‘fresh ideas'. Travis Kelce said his heart hand gesture was for the Bills fans. He was trying to show love because of all the hate he heard coming into the stadium. Luka Doncic had a fan ejected last night. Giannis said he had nothing to do with the Milwaukee Bucks coach firing. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the Chargers getting their head coach with Jim Harbaugh and a Falcons fans said he doesn't want Belichick. Hour 2 Is John Minko keeping track of all the St. John's games he's called, or is St. John's? We got an answer, it's John Minko. Gio has a new golf coach and he's already been given a grip change. Boomer segways into the World War II documentary on Netflix. A caller wonders if Boomer remembers his father, a teammate at Maryland. He didn't. Gio thinks he should have lied. Hour 3 A caller said it was a total ‘lie spot' for Boomer when asked if he remembered that Maryland teammate. We talked about lying to children and when you should and shouldn't. We went through a list of Maryland players to see if Boomer remembers them or not. Boomer is recalling nicknames that he can't say on air. Gio said, as a child, your life changes when you realize, ‘there's a dude in the Goofy costume'. A caller had an experience with furries where he saw them going to the bathroom outside. Jerry returns for an update and we find out that somebody added Larry Abraham to the Wikipedia page for the 1981 Maryland football team. Ochocinco said everybody is naked on social media and there's no need for lingerie anymore. In the final segment of the hour, we took a call on Bill Cowher and furries and Barbie not being nominated for an Oscar. Gio was angry that Dua Lipa was snubbed for her Barbie song, meanwhile there were two terrible Barbie songs that were nominated. Boomer said that's the same sound as everybody else. Hour 4 A Bayport man calls in as he's in Vegas and doesn't know what to do there. This 60 year old man has never been to Vegas, finally goes, and doesn't have a gameplan. Jerry returns for his final update of the day but first we go over the weather for Vegas when we're there. Not all that warm. Boomer said to Gio, ‘your nipples are gonna be hard'. Jerry has audio of Lamar Jackson talking about the upcoming game against the Chiefs. Travis Kelce said his heart hand gesture wasn't for Taylor Swift, it was for Bills fans. He was trying to spread love while they were spreading hate. Jared Goff was asked about the Lions not having superstars. Hey Nick Sirianni, what would you say, you do here? Jerry has a Moment of The Day and an Awkward Moment of The Day involving Boomer not lying when he should have. In the final segment of the show, Boomer talked about the story of the Niners going after Tom Brady before this past season. But nobody seemed to mention that the Niners didn't know what kind of shape Brock Purdy's arm was in coming off the injury. It still seems to be up in the air whether Deebo Samuel will play Sunday. Gio is envisioning the Niners and Ravens in the Super Bowl. He had a dream of Lamar Jackson at media day.

It all started on August 23rd 1980, in the small town of Bellville, Texas. Sixteen year old Cheryl Dee Ferguson woke up that morning and was in a rush for the first tournament of the season. The volleyball team in which she was a part of had to ride the 60 mile bus ride to Conroe, Texas. The girls were excited – until Cheryl disappeared and the game was canceled. She was eventually found in the auditorium – naked and lifeless. Unfortunately, this is not the only tragedy that came from this story. The corrupt and racist investigators that investigated this crime had their eyes set on one person, and one person only: the African American high school janitor, Clarence Brandley. This story is not just about the murder of an innocent teenager, but also about an innocent man who sat on death row for 10 years for a crime he did not commit. This is the story of Cheryl Ferguson and the Wrongful Conviction of Clarence Brandley, and you are listening to Murder in America. - Find your inner detective and download June's Journey, available on Android and iOS mobile devices, as well as on PC through Facebook Games! - Get a 4-week trial, free postage, and a digital scale at https://www.stamps.com/mia.
