In this episode, Dr. Kuba and Bethany talk about the various disappointments in continuing education courses and dental conferences. It is difficult to find a course or conference that meets everyone's needs, and it is even harder to justify the cost involved in these classes. Often, practice owners will limit down the number of team members they invite simply because the results of the course often do not justify the cost. Implementation is another difficulty with CE courses. Even if the team gets super fired up at the course, the implementation is dismal on the backend. This causes practice owners to wonder if they should have even invested in the event. Finally, Dr. Kuba quizzes Bethany on her out-of-the-box idea on what she believes is going to be the best education course – a 2-day consulting crash course designed for ONLY one office at a time. Confidence Hack #75: Students read books they are interested in. Do you remember reading George Orwell's ‘Animal Farm' in 6th grade and having no clue what it was about, literally checking out after hearing the pig talks? I have nothing against Orwell; he's one of my favorite authors of all time, and he's brilliant. But in sixth grade?? Come on, school systems. Finland has scored as the top education system throughout the 2000s. Why is this? A multitude of reasons ranging from: Students stay with the same teacher for multiple years Outside activities are mandatory No standardized testing Cooperation with, not competition against Fewer hours of the day actually ‘in school' Among many others, the most telling reason is allowing students to read books they are interested in. It's like anything: if you force someone to do something they don't enjoy or understand, there will be no benefit. Today, the confidence boost comes from embracing reading what you enjoy! It doesn't have to be the headiest novel written in 10th-century English, and please, parents and teachers, don't force kids to read something they despise and can't comprehend. Read for enjoyment, and the increased fun of learning will follow! Hey! If you love this show, share it with family and friends! It's the best way to help get this info into the hands of people who want to grow and become the most CONFIDENT LEADERS they can be! And please throw us a 5-star review! As I watch my girls grow and navigate the school system, it strikes me that today's education is lacking in actually helping our kids grow into healthy adulthood. But this isn't a new topic. Today's clip of Ken Robinson, pulled from a talk nearly 20 years old, shows that he seems to feel the same way. He points out the unpredictability of the future, even though we educate our kids as though we know exactly what the world will hold for them. Instead, we need to create space for them to use their unique gifts and authentically be themselves. Show links: Watch the full clip. Learn more at sirkenrobinson.com. What are some obstacles parents face when trying to find the right school for their children, and what resources are available? How can we empower parents to find the right education opportunities for their children, regardless of where they live? In this episode, Shree Recasner joins Kevin to discuss how we can empower parents to find the best education option for their children.

Grit or resiliency is one of the most important traits in modern life, especially if you're a Founder. Our guest today Reed Switzer is one of the youngest guests on Tank Talks, and he's been a Founder or Co-Founder of multiple companies. His current venture is Hopscotch, a simple, easy-to-use business payments platform that grew out of Reed's frustrations as a small business owner.About Reed Switzer:Reed Switzer is an entrepreneur and rising product leader in the financial technology space.Born and raised in New York, Reed got his start bussing tables at a local diner. In his early professional career, he developed a passion for apparel and launched his own brand in partnership with a couple of friends. He later served as Operations Lead for a music streaming startup led by the former CFO of Combs Enterprises. In 2021, studying finance and technology at Wharton, Reed decided to drop out of school to pursue his entrepreneurial spirit. He founded and currently leads Hopscotch, a FinTech startup backed by Stellation Capital, Shine Capital, NOEMIS Ventures, 3KVC, Valar Ventures, NfX, Valor Equity Partners, Red & Blue Ventures, The MBA Fund, Switch Ventures, and Brightlane Ventures.A word from our sponsor:At Ripple, we manage all of our fund expenses and employee credit cards using Jeeves. The team at Jeeves helped get me and my team setup with physical and virtual credit cards in days. I was able to allow my teammates to expense items in multiple currencies allowing them to pay for anything, anywhere at anytime. We weren't asked for any personal guarantees or to pay any setup or monthly SaaS fees. Not only does Jeeves save us time, but they also give us cash back on our purchases including expenses like Google, Facebook, or AWS every month. New users can earn up to 3% cashback for their first 90 days. The best part is Jeeves puts up the cash, and you settle up once every 30 days in any currency you want, unlike some other corporate card companies that make you pre-pay every month. Jeeves also recently launched its Jeeves Growth and Working Capital initiative for startups and fast-growing companies to enable more financial freedom for companies. The best thing of all is that Jeeves is live in 24 countries including Canada, the US and many other countries around the world.Jeeves truly offers the best all-in-one expense management corporate card program for all startups especially the ones at Ripple and we at Tank Talks could not be more excited to officially partner with them. Dr. Kashey believes that mentorship is the most collaborative platonic relationship you will ever have. A mentor doesn't only teach you what to think, but also how to think and why you are thinking it. Studies show that when the mentor/protege relationship clicks, the protege has 200% to 400% greater levels of achievement. Through modeling, collaborating, and providing consistent feedback, a mentor plays a very important role in an individual's life. While they are an experienced veteran in the field, they still maintain a close personal relationship with their protege and use everything they've learned to develop their protege as a person. The combination of knowledge via books and knowledge from experience creates something special that can be passed on.

In most areas of life, we find everyone in a "race for the bottom", trying to make everything cheaper to serve an increasingly poor customer base. While it is important to make necessary services available for poor familoes (which we do), it's also important to give wealthy families the opportunity to seek the best for the common good. In this talk, Mr. Michael discusses the best education for wealthy families, and how to obtain it today. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/williamcmichael/support

Do you take "No" for an answer? Well, Warrior Mom Rhonda Lyle does not! In this this week's second Money Matters podcast, she makes it clear how to set the stage for money to flow your way so your children will have every opportunity they need to succeed, and then some!Scholarship coach and author Rhonda Copeland Lyle: Warrior Mom: How I Fought to Get the Best Education and Scholarships for my Children and Others ($10M Won!) shows us how it is done.Parents everywhere will do well to pay attention to the new book. Rhonda is the mother of three adult children. As the children entered their early school years in Woodbridge, VA, Rhonda discovered the importance of advocacy on behalf of her son and two daughters. By respectfully forming working relationships with teachers and maintaining oversight of the children's extracurricular activities, she was able to expose them to numerous fun and educational activities nationally and abroad. This led them to unexpected and rewarding opportunities that in turn piggybacked, one on another, to reveal heretofore unknown programs with abundant benefits. Learning as she progressed over the years, Rhonda has helped many students and their families successfully apply for and be awarded approximately $10M in scholarship monies. For the Warrior Mom, it has been especially satisfying to see this progress for students and families who might not otherwise have known their children could be eligible for both the funds and the opportunities. There are even programs that cater to students with low GPAs, alternate ways to get college credit and free college.Get her book here - WARRIOR MOM: How I Fought To Get A Great Education and Scholarships For My Children and Others: Lyle, Rhonda Copeland: 9780578795379: Amazon.com: BooksReach out to her at RhondaLyle411@gmail.com www.MomsChangingtheWorld.orgHost: Ekua Walker, Child Development NP and CEO - Chief Encouragement OfficerProducer: Koby BlanksonPodcast Art: Esther and Joel Ishler
As pastors we get a lot of questions from parents about education. Is home school best? Is public school? Is private school? Today we're not arguing the different options. But we are discussing how we can make informed decisions as parents and how we can best partner with our educators so we stay involved. One thing to note: there's not a school choice that removes your child from the effects of the fall.

Jessica and Butch spend some time talking about the future of education, in terms of what education means, what its purpose is, and what a teacher is. We talk about how the most important thing to teach kids is WHO THEY ARE; also what our responsibilities are as parents, as a community; and the goal of a multi-generational community which needs its elderly (see Episode 33) and it needs its children. Jessica spoke about "intentional" parenting, which involves educator as the role of the parent. Obviously the role of technology came up, and the rule of this episode is, of course: "The Future of Education is not 'STEM'..." For only $20 a month you can join a small but growing number of families who are striving to be more intentional in how they teach their kids, whether they go to public, private, or homeschool. ________________________ Independent Education: https://inded.us Great Conversation(s) Blog: https://greatconversations.us Great Conversation(s) Network: https://gc.inded.us ROTG Podcast: https://rotgpodcast.us Patreon: https://patreon.com/rulesofthegame

ASK CODY YOUR QUESTION HERE As Featured on: Huffington Post, Bodybuilding.com, The PTDC, Dr. John Rusin, Muscle For Life, HLHL, iN3, OPEX Fitness and More… ---- Timestamps: 2:26 - Tailored Trainer 7:25 - When a client who is macro counting and working out has an unsupportive spouse who rolls his/her eyes, comments that they're over the macro counting stuff, etc... It can be a lonely process for your client! So what would you say to a client like that and how do you support them as a coach? 17:33 - What are your go-to research sites for training and nutrition? 22:45 - What are your favorite books for continuing education in nutrition and exercise science space? Need direction on what to read next and would love your input. 28:40 - I have a job that is fairly labor intensive. On an average day I'll get anywhere from 10,000 to 25,000 steps a day. I have MyFitnessPal app set so that it adjusts my calories each day based on how active I am. My base is set at my BMR which runs around 1500 cals on a day. I literally just stay home and chill. As I get my morning work out in and my daily steps and walking, it will adjust my calories up to around 2400-2800 cals that I should consume if I want to be eating the energy I need to fuel how many calories I'm burning that day. My goal right now is to gain strength and muscle, I am fairy happy with how I look right now and am quite lean naturally. Eating around this 2400-2800 calorie mark seems to be keeping my weight fairly steady or has for the last couple weeks and that's me only working out 4-5 days a week. My question is, is this a good approach to adjust my calories based on my daily activity? I work shift work so I'm away working in a camp for 2 weeks then home for a week so adjusting my calories I think is necessary for my off week and also to make sure I'm eating enough for what I'm burning. Thoughts? 35:45 - I've recently progressed from an under-eating/chronic dieting state for about 9 months (around 1300 cal) to reverse up to a maintenance state (ended at 1900 cal, although I believe my true maintenance is around 2200-2400 cal with a high activity level). I am really interested in the G-Flux topic of "eat more, do more”. What is the best way to periodize my nutrition to get to that G-Flux state? I still have a smaller target of fat loss, but want to be cognizant of the best approach here, which I think is to continue my progression to my true maintenance phase before cutting again. 42:35 - I have been training for the past 18 years, I am female, 34 years old and my question is: how should a woman train in PMS? I have an idea and heard some stuff of course, but I am really curious about your thoughts around this topic. 50:25 - How would one achieve body recomp at maintenance? 57:50 - If you ever produced a product or product line, what would it be? “I realized in 2016, when I came back to the US after 10 years in Asia, how different a lot of my parenting philosophies were. For example, my kids had a lot more freedom because at six-years-old in Japan, they were already completely independent… my six-year-old was taking the bullet train, which is the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka on his own. It’s a very safe country.” That’s New York-based Teru Clavel, a comparative education expert, bestselling author, and speaker sharing a glimpse into her experience educating her children in Asia. Clavel shares her insights on education and globalization in her book, World Class: One Mother’s Journey Halfway Around the Globe in Search of the Best Education for Her Children, which chronicles her experience over a decade raising her children in the local public schools of Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo and Palo Alto. Written with research, personal anecdote and takeaway, World Class offers real-world solutions to the toughest education dilemmas we face here and abroad. In today’s conversation, we talk about: How she got on a plane from New York to Hong Kong, with two toddlers, and she was searching for. Learning to parent in Asia and how it shaped her. How at six-years-old in Japan, her children were taking the bullet train alone. The question on every parent’s mind: “How can I support my child’s education?” Giving children the time they need in a culture of busy-ness. The philosophies and practises that have stayed with her from a decade in Asia. The research she’s studied about children who attend early childhood education. The can-do mindset in Asia. Why “struggle is a fundamental part of learning” Why the phase ‘Mental Health Day’ is becoming more and more common for children and what her thoughts on it are. Why homework at a young age instils curiosity and discipline. Why multitasking is just an excuse to avoid being focused. College Students Home for Thanksgiving (0:00:00) Imagine this - after tearfully sending off your child to college just a few months before, the time has finally come for them to return home for Thanksgiving break. You're so excited to see them again, but then you start to worry: what if they've changed? Are they going to be too busy with schoolwork to spend time with you? Do they think they're too cool for you? These questions are real to many parents of college age students who are unsure of how to act around their adult-aged children. Luckily, we are joined by college professor Geoffrey Greif as he explains these complex relationships and how to make their visit back home for the holidays both wonderful and restorative. Winter Skincare (0:15:24) It's hard to be cheery and positive when the skin on your face and hands is irritated and dry. For many of us, the winter months are our skin's worst enemy! Here to share some hacks with us is Tami Cummins, a licensed aesthetician and skincare expert who has been keeping faces soft and healthy for over 25 years. Holiday Preparation (0:33:01) Friend of the show, Carrie Ann Rhodes, shares how to prepare for the upcoming holidays. Class Discipline (0:50:36) I don't know if there's a job out there that is more difficult and underappreciated than being a teacher. Teaching on its own is hard, but the job becomes that much more complicated when you consider how hard it can be to get kids to listen to you! So what can teachers do to maintain order in their classrooms? Here to share with us his ideas on the subject is Michael Linsin, teacher and author of five books including: The Smart Classroom Management Way. Best Preschool (1:06:04) You found it – the perfect preschool. After months of hunting, this is the one. You go and talk to the admissions secretary, and walk out discouraged. With all of the requirements, other moms pulling strings, and inside connections, it seems impossible to even let your child set foot in this perfect place for the start of their education. How can you possibly make sure your preschooler gets the best education available? Teru Clavel is a Global Education Consultant and author of the new book World Class: One Mother's Journey Halfway Around the Globe in Search of the Best Education for Her Children. She joins us to share her tips. Satisfaction in the Mundane (1:25:51) Life can get boring and monotonous, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy every phase of life. Kirk Voss, a licensed family therapist, joins us to share ways to find satisfaction in the mundane.
Phobia of Giving Blood (0:00:00) Are you afraid of needles, blood, or even fainting? Then you probably have never given blood: a combination of all of those fears. Many people are affected by this fear of giving blood and make up excuses as to why they cannot donate. However, there is a great need for blood donors throughout the U.S., and the fear is easily overcome. Joining us is Stephanie Sarkis, a therapist specializing in ADHD, anxiety and gaslighting. KaBOOM! (0:10:43) Did you love playing on the playground as a kid? The woodchip souvenirs you would bring home in your tennis shoes, the calluses on your palms from the monkey bars, and the holes in your jeans from the plastic slides are all rites of passage for childhood. But there are a lot of children out there without access to a community playground. Only one in four kids in the US are getting the recommended amount of daily physical activity. KaBOOM! is changing that statistic one playplace at a time. They bring playgrounds to under-resourced communities. Here to talk about this business model is Amy Levner, the vice president of marketing and communications for KaBOOM! Kids' Safety on Halloween (0:31:57) Did you know that on average, children are more than twice as likely to be hit by a car and killed on Halloween than on any other day of the year? This heartbreaking statistic is more than enough motivation to prepare our kids for a safe trick or treating experience. Morag Mackay from Safe Kids Worldwide joins us to share how we can protect our young ones during the Halloween festivities. Scary Story (0:50:34) Sam Payne, host of The Apple Seed, tells us a scary story about Lisa and Richie. Banning Early School Starts (1:06:54) You see it every day – your kids are sleep deprived. They burn the candle at both ends, waking up early for school and staying up late with homework and extra-curricular activities. Well, California recently became the first state to push back start times for high schools. The bell can't ring before 8:30am – and middle schools will be banned from starting before 8:00am. Why? The legislation claims that teenagers, and their still-developing brains, need every extra minute of sleep possible. So, they seem to be on board with most of us. But is this the best way to get kids more sleep? Teru Clavel is the author of the new book World Class: One Mother's Journey Halfway Around the Globe in Search of the Best Education for Her Children. With her experience as an education consultant, we thought she might have the answers on this striking sleep issue. Halloween Activities (1:24:58) What do you think of when you hear the words, “Halloween night”? The most obvious answer is trick-or-treating. But is that the only thing you can do on the spookiest night of the year? Maybe your kids have outgrown trick-or-treating or the weather doesn't cooperate. Here to help us out with some alternative ideas of Halloween activities that don't involve trick-or-treating is friend of the show, Gina James.
