Ini adalah salah satu film series yang sedang saya tonton. Kenapa saya tertarik? Karena di dalamnya ada kriptografi. Janjinya begitu. Lumayan menarik karena ada campuran bodoran Inggris yang khas.
British actress Julie Graham - star of many TV shows including The Bletchley Circle, William & Mary and Shetland - was quick to produce a drama filmed on smartphones during the UK's extended lockdown last year. It's called Dun Breedin and it deals with something Julie cares deeply about - mid-life women and the extra challenges they face, including dealing with ungrateful children! Julie's also about to star in a second series of the Queens of Mystery whodunnits, where three crime-writing aunts help their police officer niece Matilda to solve tricky cases. Lynn Freeman first talked to Julie Graham about Queens of Mystery, a show that offered actresses like her in their 50s some rare good roles.
What's the problem with being an angry woman? This week I'm joined by actress and writer Julie Graham to explore all things RAGE. Yes, we're tapping into the power of all things anger and more. We cover: Fierce Feminism Why we aren't "allowed" to show rage or anger How this holds us back Menopause + Mental Health Why being attractive is 100% not our job Read my book, NOISE: A Manifesto Modernising Modernhood About my guest, Julie Graham: Julie Graham is an actress and writer. She's been a firm favourite in UK television for 35 years, with her best-known credits including At Home With The Braithwaites, William And Mary, Shetland, Being Eileen, Benidorm, Bletchley Circle and her most recent project Dun Breedin' - a Youtube comedy-drama created remotely during lockdown. Trust your gut! This week, Maggie and V analyze their favorite transgressive lady detectives through the decades: Nancy Drew, The Bletchley Circle, Veronica Mars, and Jessica Jones. They compare and contrast the ways each of these women navigate the sexism of their time, respond to sexual assault, and struggle to ever grow emotionally. Plus, V self-comforts after The Mandalorian season finale, and Maggie quibbles with The Queen’s Gambit.
In which there's a Twin Peaks reference, and we might as well bill the squeaky chair as a co-host. Also starring: SPAM, spies, Jack the Ripper, and Kate Middleton. Awarded? Fabulous scarf headbands.
Star of television programmes such as Benidorm, Bugs, William and Mary and The Bletchley Circle, and films like Tower Block and Nuns on the Run, the actress and writer Julie Graham has been on our screens constantly since appearing in Taggart in 1986. She's guest number 25 on My Time Capsule and chats to Michael Fenton Stevens about the five things she'd like to put in a time capsule; four she’d like to preserve and one she’d like to bury and never have to think about again .Watch Dun Breedin on YouTube.
Something for the murder corner kids this week as your new BFFs look at a pair of Netflix crime dramas: the London/Tokyo mashup Giri/Haji and the codebreaking crime fighting of The Bletchley Circle (40:40). We also talk about the likelihood of more Watchmen (9:36), the success of AEW (13:41), the return of Nicholas Cage (18:50) and updates on all we've been watching including theatrical remakes of 90s TV shows, #Megxit, our precious volleyball sons and more.
On this episode, we travel to Brighton to spend time with two Julies (or is it Lindas?) who met on Facebook and bonded over their shared "diva lite" tendencies. Hello TSP listeners. Hope this episode finds you well. We've got a treat from north of the border this week in the shape of the wonderful actor Julie Graham. Craig and Julie had never met before but that didn't seem to stop them having a proper good chin-wag about life, camper vans, London, auditions and having a bit of a legend for a mum. You'll know Julie from The Bletchley Circle, Benidorm, Shetland, or William and Mary. She's top company and we were honoured to hear her stories. We're sure you'll share our sentiments. This is episode 76 with Julie Graham. Get in touch...If you enjoy the podcast and want to donate we'd absolutely love that! Go to https://www.patreon.com/twoshotpod and give us a quid or two. What's not to love about a crafting competition show hosted by Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman? Wellll, Linda Holmes and the regulars could think of a few things, but our nitpicks stem almost entirely from liking the show and wanting it to be its best, punniest self. We talk host bits, judging inconsistencies, the comparison of apples to macrame, and there's even Sarah's obligatory semi-annual reference to Work Of Art. We go Around The Dial with Queer Eye, Kids Baking Championship, The Bletchley Circle: Mission Burrito (...okay, it's actually "San Francisco," but we like Dave's name better), and Trial & Error before Linda serves a warrant for inducting Brooklyn Nine-Nine into The Canon. Deadwood won (maybe; we'll see), networks' lip service to survivors and equal pay lost, and we entered the valley of the shadow of unbelievable/y crappy shows with Dan Cassino's Trough TV Game Time.

November 2015 Sarah Harding’s mother remembers Bletchley Park as a happy place. Dorothy Harding, nee Thompson, worked as a Morse slip reader in the Communications Centre from 1943 to the end of the war. Many years later, Sarah directed the hit ITV drama, The Bletchley Circle, about four fictional women who worked at the Government Code and Cypher School during World War Two and, some ten years later, regrouped in secret to solve mysteries including murder. Now Sarah is joining a worldwide community of Veterans’ relatives, who are being offered the chance to buy a commemorative brick in the Codebreakers’ Wall and cement their connection to this piece of British history. Visit the Bletchley Park Roll of Honour to find your Codebreaker relative and email friends@bletchleypark.org.uk to find out more about how you can celebrate that connection. May 2015 First this month we talk to our official photographer Shaun Armstrong who’s pictures help to tell the story of our new exhibition; Bletchley Park Rescued and Restored. Shaun was on hand to capture images from the start of the £8 million phase one restoration project, right through to the official opening in June 2014 by HRH The Duchess of Cambridge. Sarah Harding, director of the 2nd series of The Bletchley Circle was one of last years speakers in our Bletchley Park Presents series of talks. After her sold-out talk Sarah and her sister Gillian sat down to tell us about more discoveries of their mum’s Bletchley Park past. Over nearly 3 years of the podcast we have had the honour to interview around 40 of our amazing Veteran’s so far. These interviews, along with the Official Oral Archive, are building an invaluable resource of first-hand history, for not just the listeners of the podcast but for future generations to come. It is 70 years since Victory in Europe and to pay tribute to all the men and women who served we bring you the sounds of VE Day and from our own archive, the memories of our Veterans, not only remembering May 1945 but what they did next. For our Veterans their service didn’t end in 1945, as for 30 years and more in many cases, they kept the secret of their vital war work hidden from the world. The Veteran’s featured, in order of appearance are: Betty Flavell (WRNS 1944-1945) Joyce Bogoni (WAAF 1945-1947) Lady Marion Body (FO Civilian 1944-1945) Gwendoline Page (WRNS 1944-1945) Betty Webb (ATS 1941-1945) Elizabeth Marshall (WRNS 1944-1945) Dot Tuffin (WRNS 1943-1945) Jane Fawcett (FO Civilian 1940-1945) Marigold Freeman-Attwood (WRNS 1943-1945) Many thanks to The Three Belles for the use of their music. There's just not enough time. Just the British shows alone!! Don't you love British TV? Just when you thought you couldn't keep up with all the British programs on Netflix (Sherlock, Broadchurch,Happy Valley, The Fall, The Hour, Hit and Miss, Women of Bletchley Circle,Last Tango in Halifax, Black Mirror etc) I chat with Rosalie Carew, Supervising Producer of X Company - about all the shows that have ALREADY been a hit on the other side of the pond! Some of these shows I heard of but many of them, I had no clue. There just isn't enough time!! Check out; The Street, New Tricks, Skins, Party Animals, Line of Duty, Glue and State of Play. Rosalie also talks about why the Brits only write 3 or 6 episodes per season. It's bizarre but it makes perfect sense and it WORKS!

Agent Carter The Iron Curtain [3:51] The hosts find themselves on the backside of the Agent Carter special event as things heat up for Agent Carter and we learn to do as Peggy says. As usual Marvel does it best to successfully creep us out by showing us The Red Room and just why Dottie is as fundamentally crazy as she is. For those of us not making the connection at home Marvel pulls back the veiling curtain and tells us flat out that Leviathan is a secret Russian shadow organization. Marvel also tries to make us like Thompson but the hosts just can't totally get there from Thompson still being...well Thompson. And the hosts wonder why Sousa is sitting on his profound discovery and we aren't talking about what he discovered in the SSR changing room either. Plus maybe Chief Dooley isn't that bad of a guy either since he wants what we want - the truth. Sarah has had a long and distinguished career directing theatre, film & TV dramas including Coronation Street, Queer as Folk and Agatha Christie’s Marple & Poirot, to list just a few. We talk about her life behind the camera & how the service given by Veterans such as her mother led to her generation having the freedom to pursue such careers. February 2014 This month we join Bletchley Park Veteran Margaret Roland as she was asked to be the special guest at a ceremony to mark the completion of refurbishment work at White Spire School in Bletchley. We take you behind the scenes at rehearsals for February half term’s exciting Living History project, where Sorrel Meechan, one of the actors helping bring the buildings to life, tells us about her personal connection to the Bletchley Park having grown up knowing her grandfather worked as a Bombe Maintainer during World War Two. Hear the intriguing – and entirely coincidental – family connection Sarah Harding, the Director of the hit ITV drama, The Bletchley Circle had with the Home of the Codebreakers as her mother Dorothy Harding, nee Thompson, was a Wireless Operator & Morse slip reader at Bletchley Park. Michael Portillo, former Defence Secretary turned TV presenter came to Bletchley Park for an episode of Great British Railway Journeys. Between takes he shared a few insights into the absolute secrecy surrounding this place during World War Two & how some people, flying in the face of popular opinion, can keep secrets in this day and age. Finally our roving reporter Kerry Howard interviews Veteran Betty Webb, who did the tricky job of paraphrasing decrypted messages before they went out to commanders in the field, helping to cover up the very existence of Bletchley Park & how at the Pentagon she continued her ultra-secret job till the end of the war. January 2014 This month we take you exclusively behind the scenes during filming of The Bletchley Circle, hearing from the Producer, Standby Art Director & Bletchley Park Trust staff who were cast as supporting actors, to safeguard machines which belong to GCHQ. We hear from Veteran Audrey Wind, whose story is featured as a DVD extra, who was told when she was recruited: “You must not mention this conversation to any living person.” Years after the war, she was spotted by a fellow alumnus of Bletchley Park & the secrecy they shared caused all sorts of suspicion about their relationship. This month’s Podcast also lets you in on the plans for the fragile wooden huts being restored as part of the £8m, Heritage Lottery Funded restoration, with details of how their stories will be told. Hear about how actors will bring Bletchley Park to life with the Living History Project. Liv Spencer tells us what she will be looking for during the auditions.
