Fans of the franchise who enjoyed seeing The Phantom Menace back in theaters last weekend were also treated to an extended look at a scene from the first trailer featuring Carrie Ann Moss. James Gunn took to social media, rather than the sky, and debuted a first look at the Superman costume that will be donned by David Corenswet. Set against a Metropolis that looks to be in distress, Corenswet appears to be getting ready to go to work as the new Man of Steel. The baddest superheroes around will soon be back.  The Boys Season 4 trailer dropped this week showcasing a crossover with characters from Gen V. Late Gen V actor Chance Perdomo's character Andre Anderson will not be recast in that show's second season, according to a joint statement from the producers. A24 has secured the rights to produce Checkmate, a project centered on a book proposal by Ben Mezrich, the author whose books were adapted into films such The Social Network and Dumb Money. Checkmate will reteam Nathan Fielder and Emma Stone to direct and produce and will tackle a recent public chess cheating scandal between chess players Magnus Carlsen and Hans Niemann. Paul Walter Hauser is set to play Captain Ed in director Akiva Schaffer's untitled new Naked Gun film that Paramount Pictures plans to release July 18, 2025. Hauser will star opposite Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson. Anna Sawai, the breakout star of the hit FX series Shōgun, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that she was forced to turn down an audition for the part of Katana in the 2016 film Suicide Squad because the company behind FAKY, the J-Pop girl group to which she then belonged, forbid it. The upcoming live action adaptation of Masters of the Universe finally has a release date of June 5, 2026. Bumblebee director Travis Knight will direct. Netflix announced the sixth and final season of Cobra Kai will consist of 15 episodes, with the season split into three, five-episode blocks. The first five episodes will premiere on July 18th. Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac are set to star in Flesh of the Gods, an 80's vampire thriller to be directed by Panos Cosmatos, the filmmaker best known for his hallucinatory 2018 horror movie Mandy. Wheel of Time and Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike has joined Lionsgate's Now You See Me 3, the upcoming installment in the magic heist franchise. Steve Carell is set to star opposite Tina Fey in the upcoming Netflix comedy series Four Seasons. The series is based on a 1981 film of the same name. A24 has picked up Onslaught, the upcoming horror action film from director Adam Wingard. Wingard is fresh off directing Godzilla x Kong and Warner Brothers hopes that following the filming of Onslaught, he will return to direct another chapter of the monsterverse. Hugh Jackman and Emmy winner Jodie Comer are set to star in The Death of Robin Hood, a dark reimagining of the legend of Robin Hood. A Quiet Place Day One director Michael Sarnoski will write and direct the feature. Ahmed Best who played Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars prequel films, will return to voice Darth Jar Jar, a Sith version of the character for an upcoming Lego Star Wars special titled Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, which will debut on Disney+ on September 13.

JJ Abrams, in his directorial debut, brought us the third installment in this franchise in which Tom Cruise plays “Ethan Hunt”. He is joined by a great ensemble which include Michelle Monaghan, Maggie Q, Simon Pegg, Johnathon Rhys Meyers, Keri Russell, Billy Crudup, Laurence Fishburne & the late, great Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Ving Rhames returns to his respective role. After one of Ethan's brightest students is kidnapped & killed, he is forced back into action to complete her assignment which was uncovering & locating a biochemical weapon that was manufactured by an criminal chemist and being sold to the high bidder. This film marks the debut appearance of Simon Pegg's character who eventually becomes a main staple for the rest of the franchise. Due to scheduling conflicts with Abrams, many of the original actors, who had signed on for this film, eventually left the project entirely. The names included Carrie Ann Moss, Kenneth Branagh & Scarlett Johansson. This was originally going to be directed by David Fincher but he too would leave the project due to creative differences with Paramount.

Or you could just be watching the 1999 movie hit The Matrix.   Keanu Reeves stars as Neo, a computer hacker that discovers none of his world is real. Once Morpheus releases him and shows him the truth, Neo must discover whether or not he is the One, who is the savior in a prophesy that hopes to save all humankind.    Throughout the film, we see Neo find his true potential as he battles Agents of the Matrix, virtual computer programs that are seemingly indestructible and dangerous to the humans that have escaped their captivity.    Lilly and Lana Wachowski used this film to show their extraordinary filmmaking ability and also present a deep story that makes us question our reality and ponder destiny vs choice. After the incredible success of the first film, they followed it up in 2003 with two more stories that completed the trilogy. At least for a little while.    Before the two sequels showed us what our ultimate destiny would be, the Animatrix told us some of the history of the machine war in a series of Anime stories that laid the groundwork for this world.    Then, in 2021 Lana Wachowski was told the movie studio wanted to make a new Matrix movie with or without the Wachawskis. Sl she came up with Matrix Resurrections. Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann Moss returned with a few new surprises and ideas that added to the universe.    So the Matrix has a rich history that continues to give us interesting ideas to ponder. "The Matrix Resurrections" is the fourth installment in the 'Matrix' film series, seeing Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss return to the screen as Neo and Trinity for the first time since 2003's "The Matrix Revolutions." Critic at large for Vox, Emily VanDerWerff, joins us to talk the legacy of the Wachowski sisters' film franchise, which she has discussed in multiple articles, including, "Why The Matrix never stopped being relevant" and "How The Matrix universalized a trans experience — and helped me accept my own."

The Matrix Trilogy redefined action movies, but by the third film in the franchise it had begun to topple under its own weight. The film's creators, the Wachowskis, seemed to recognize this and went on to other projects, forswearing any future sequels. However, based on the profitability of the franchise, rumors of a reboot persisted, either with or without the creators' involvement. And so a fourth Matrix movie became like the Matrix itself - no one can be told that it exists, you have to see it for yourself. In the end, Lana Wachowski returned to bring Neo and Trinity back to life, with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss reprising their roles.
