A Woman's Empire: Russian Women and Imperial Expansion in Asia (U Toronto Press, 2023) explores a new dimension of Russian imperialism: women actively engaged in the process of late imperial expansion. The book investigates how women writers, travellers, and scientists who journeyed to and beyond Central Asia participated in Russia's "civilizing" and colonizing mission, utilizing newly found educational opportunities while navigating powerful discourses of femininity as well as male-dominated science. Katya Hokanson shows how these Russian women resisted domestic roles in a variety of ways. The women writers include a governor general's wife, a fiction writer who lived in Turkestan, and a famous Theosophist, among others. They make clear the perspectives of the ruling class and outline the special role of women as describers and recorders of information about local women, and as builders of "civilized" colonial Russian society with its attendant performances and social events. Although the bulk of their writings, drawings, and photography is primarily noteworthy for its cultural and historical value, A Woman's Empire demonstrates how they also add dimension and detail to the story of Russian imperial expansion and illuminates how women encountered, imagined, and depicted Russia's imperial Other during this period. Katya Hokanson is an associate professor of Russian and Comparative Literature at the University of Oregon. Learn more about your ad choices. Murauskaite, author FPRI's new report "Russian Women in the Face of War Against Ukraine," to discuss the multifaceted role of Russian women in the conflict. Read the report here

These are the Trending news headlines in Argentina on Tuesday February 14, 2023. Argentinian officials are reporting a surge in the number of pregnant Russian women flying to the country. Over 5,000 women have arrived in recent months, seeking to give birth to obtain Argentine citizenship. It is believed the increase in arrivals is due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, making travel to many western countries more difficult. On Thursday, 33 pregnant Russian women arrived on a single flight, three of whom were detained for "problems with their documentation". The women sought Argentine citizenship for their children as it offers more freedom and the ability to enter 171 countries visa-free, compared to the 87 countries Russians can travel to without a visa. The rise in "birth tourism" by Russian citizens to Argentina is a well-established and lucrative practice. Argentine police are now investigating a suspected "million-dollar business and illicit network" that provided fake documents for pregnant Russian women and their partners to settle in the country. Argentina's President Alberto Fernandez is making a major reshuffle ahead of the October elections. He's replacing Cabinet Chief Juan Manzur with the current spy chief, Agustin Rossi. Rossi is a recognized political leader and served in the governments of Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernandez Kirchner. The Peronist government is facing tough times with inflation at nearly 100% and infighting among factions. Manzur will lead the campaign for the ruling coalition's governor candidate in the important regional elections in Tucuman. Fernandez may seek re-election but is facing splits within his coalition. Argentinian regulators are considering a new cryptocurrency regulation that may include proof-of-solvency requirements. According to reports, the national securities regulator, the CNV, is studying the possibility of including these requirements for crypto exchanges and custody institutions. This comes after the recent collapse of a leading cryptocurrency exchange, FTX. The government is preparing to launch new regulations for crypto companies to operate in the country. The focus will be more on exchanges, and less on the classification of crypto and tokens. The regulatory framework will be applied gradually and the CNV president, Sebastian Negri, has stated that all measures will be taken in collaboration with crypto companies in Argentina. The CNV will create a working group with the industry to agree on new regulatory parameters. Eight amateur rugby players in Argentina have been sentenced to prison for the 2020 murder of 18-year-old Fernando Baez Sosa. The verdict sparked debates about race and class in Argentine society. Five of the defendants received life sentences and the remaining three received 15 years. This was after a four-week trial in Dolores, located 140 miles south of Buenos Aires. The governor of Buenos Aires province expressed hope that the verdict would bring comfort to the Baez Sosa family. However, the family's lawyers have said that they are considering an appeal for the lesser 15-year sentences, instead of the life sentences they sought for all defendants. The murder case has reignited discussions about justice and equality in Argentina. It's a brand new week on The Nottingham Panthers' Audio Experience and it's another netminder in the hot seat as Noora Räty joins host Dan Kerry for another not-to-be-missed episode of the show.Noora is a veteran of the game having represented Finland at four Olympic Games, backstopping them to two bronze medal finishes, and nine World Championships, picking up four bronze medals and most recently a silver in a heart breaking shootout loss to Team USA in 2019.She made the jump to The States in 2009 to pursue a career in the game and joined the University of Minnesota, becoming team mates with Audio Experience alumni Megan Bozek, and proceeded to lift two NCAA Championships one of which came during an undefeated season and takes us behind the scenes to talk about the big moments and games from those seasons. After graduating Noora returned to Europe where she became the first female to play in the Metsis (Finnish second division) before joining Chinese side Kulun Red Star who did play in the Canadian Women's Hockey League, which include some unbelievable cross world road trips, before that league folded (an event that led Noora to sign up with the Professional Women's Hockey Player's Association) and they joined the Russian Women's Hockey League. It's another fascinating conversation with one of the world's premier hockey players that includes all of the above and much more such as her goals of signing up with the PWHPA, why she loves Minions so much, was it always netminding for her and just how many Finnish curse words did she teach her team mates at the University of Minnesota when she made the move to North America.

1. I have been a proponent of wholesome eating as the guarantee of good health and optimal weight. The approach has worked great for me, but I am still curious to know if eating high caloric density foods – but within strict daily caloric “budget” – is detrimental to one’s health? I have no cravings or addictions of any sort, it is almost an “academic” question mostly concerning socially inflicted foods like BBQ, wine, cheese, etc. 2. My girlfriend often slips into baby talk — and it grates on my nerves, but I don’t know how to stop it. Any suggestions? 3. I’m wondering, why we’re having so many beautiful women in Russia, but much less of handsome men. Is there any explanation? 4.Plomin states that the heritablity of weight is 70%. Is this statistic a byproduct of our modern food environment and therefore an explanation of the obesity problem? How would the heritability of weight differ in a stone-age environment? How would it differ if we measured a cohort from Chef AJ's group? That word heritability, is also confusing. Please explain. 5. Whats up with corporate jargon, like "Could you action this item?", buzz words like "synergy", being told to "think outside the box", needlessly fancy job titles and the like. I realize it's bound to be several things: conferring status cheaply, trying to motivate by conveying positivity, obfuscating to avoid concrete promises and cover asses, trying to sound smart and adjusting language use to match the in-group. Am I mistaken or missing anything? Where does this jargon come from -is it perpetuated by business schools or the fanciest companies? Am I penalizing myself significantly if I don't go along with all this BS?
Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Miah-Marie started playing basketball by chance. She picked up the sport so she wouldn't be on the sidelines watching her siblings play and it slowly became more than that. Her mother's philosophy: “Keep playing if the doors continued to open.” And the doors kept opening. Miah-Marie led the Windsor Lancers to four consecutive CIS National Championships, winning the CIS Final Eight Tournament MVP and CIS All-Canadian Defensive Player of the Year honours three times. She then went onto to lead the Canadian National Women's team to gold at the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2015 FIBA Americas World Championship, which qualified the team for the Olympics at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Miah-Marie now plays in the Russian Women's Basketball Premier League while spending her off time as a mentor and coach for the youth. We talk to Miah-Marie about her professional, what it takes to be an athlete, female empowerment and the importance of diversity and equality in sports. This is episode 10 and the marauding Wehrmacht is at Stalingrad's door – the enemy is at the gates. As we'll hear, the savage air raids the were a precursor to the main event that symbolised the start of the months of a battle that would change the world. We'll also hear the extraordinary story of truly courageous young women just out of high school and what they managed to achieve to the north of the city. We'll begin by joining German units and hear individual stories from soldiers who were convinced that within a week they'd be enjoying the delights of the Soviet Union's model city on the Volga River. Why not? The Russians were facing a stronger and more experienced force and had resorted to arming civilians as a last gasp effort to halt the German juggernaut bearing down on the oil rich caucuses. As we know, Hitler had split Army Group South and sent the First Panzer Army off South Eastwards towards the Black Sea coast and the oil producing region in a move which had baffled the Soviets. It had baffled his own Generals although they quickly forgot their misgivings about splitting Army Group South. On the 21st August 1942 infantry companies under General von Seyderlitz's LI Corps crossed the Don River at dawn using inflatable boats. They established a bridgehead at the village of Luchinsky. More Germans paddled furiously over the Volga, while downriver at Vertyachy an entire battalion crossed the river in around a hour. Pioneer units went to work building pontoon bridges to take the panzers and other vehicles of General von Wietersheim's XIV Panzer Corps across. The Don meanders about here, after flowing almost directly South East, it suddenly turns and flows westerly towards the Black Sea instead of continuing onwards to the Caspian Sea. IT's at that point where there's a land bridge between the Don and the Volga. In a few thousand years they'll probably weather their way towards each other and lead to the formation of a large marshland. But here we are in 1942 with the Germans crossing what they called The Stream. Some of the members of the Sixth Army had already decided that the mysterious Don was a place of beauty and would be setting up their farms there after the War. Most of course, would be dead within six months. But let's not jump the gun.

Domestic abuse in Russia is endemic with thousands of women dying at the hands of their partners every year. Despite this a controversial law was passed in 2017, which scrapped prison sentences for first-time abusers. Beatings that do not cause broken bones or concussion are now treated as administrative offences rather than crimes. As one activist puts it: “the punishment for beating your wife now feels like paying a parking ticket.” But Russian society is waking up to the crisis. The case of three girls - the Khachaturyan sisters - who face long prison sentences for murdering their tyrannical father, has sparked mass protests. More than 300,000 people have signed an online petition urging prosecutors to drop the murder charges. The girls’ mother tells reporter Lucy Ash that her daughters were acting in self-defence against a man who had abused them physically, emotionally and sexually for years. Lucy also meets the mother of a woman stabbed to death by her husband who was discovered in her blood soaked bed by her seven year old son. In all three cases, the frightened women had appealed to the police but to no avail. These tragedies might have been averted if only the authorities had taken earlier warnings seriously. In Moscow, Lucy talks to activists who are fighting back by supporting victims, pushing for legal reforms and drawing attention to the cause through art, video games and social media. And she meets a lone feminist MP in the Russian Duma who is trying to bring in restraining orders for violent husbands, boyfriends and family members. Today Russia has no such laws and domestic violence is not a standalone offence in either the criminal or the civil code. (Image: Woman holding sign saying “What is it for? On this particularly tipsy episode (brought to you by a bottle of Ame Du Vin Rose) the ladies are doing some extra credit and covering 3, count them, 3 women! Kelley covers two military women who felt the call to serve, even when no one asked (or wanted them) them to. First, Mariya Oktyabrskaya, who bought her own fucking tank to go fight the Nazis and avenge her fallen husband. Next, Sarah Emma Edmonds, who traveled all the way from Canada and dressed as a man to fight for the Union in the American Civil War! Finally, Emily tells the story of Isabella Goodwin and how he brought down a gangster with a hilarious nickname to become New York's first female police detective! Top off your glass, grab some Sour Patch Kids, and settle in because herstory is about to get tipsy! ** Mornings with u by Barradeen | https://soundcloud.com/barradeenMusic promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.comCreative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unportedhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/deed.en_US Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/winingaboutherstory/overview)

WW1 Centennial News is brought to you by the U.S. World War I Centennial Commission and the Pritzker Military Museum and Library. Today is July 5th, 2017 and I’m Theo Mayer - Chief Technologist for the World War One Centennial Commission and your host. Correction First, a quick correction from last week’s episode #26. In support of our article on Harley Davidson in World War 1, we posted a picture of a line of tough looking soldiers, goggles over their eyes, weapons places on thighs, and gas masks at the ready. It’s a great picture - BUT….. It turns out that this image was not actually - from WW1 but a bit later. So… we have replaced that image at ww1cc.org/cn with an equally interesting photo of a Harley - This time definitely from WW1 - and this bad boy is fully equipped with a machine gunner side-car. World War One THEN 100 Year Ago This Week [sound transition] We have moved back in time 100 years ago. It is the morning of July 4th 1917. At his residence in Paris, General John J. Pershing comes to his window as he hears the musical peals of the “Star Spangled Banner”. The music being played outside by the 4th mounted band of the French Republican Guard having arrived at the residence with a large crowd of people to honor the General and the members of the 2nd battalion, 16th infantry who had just arrived in Paris from Saint Nazaire the previous day. At a critical time during America’s Revolutionary War against Britain, the French had come to the aid of the United States, and today on the 4th of July, 1917, the French citizens of Paris are showing their gratitude and respect for the alliance renewed and the favor returned. Pershing, with soldiers from the 16th Infantry, begin a full day of events. This includes the descendants of French officers of the American Revolution who present their banners to Pershing. The symbol of Franco-American friendship is not lost on Pershing. He notes that Napoleon declared days of national mourning after the death of George Washington. Pershing will recall this event warmly in his memoire. Quote “No other occasion that I recall was more significant or more clearly indicated the depth of French sentiment and affection for their old ally.” Afterwards, the American and French battalions and a military band march to the Cemetiere de Picpus to visit the grave of the Marquis de Lafayette, a French hero of the American Revolution. On the route, hundreds of thousands throng the parade, giving particular attention to the marching American soldiers. French ladies push into the ranks walking arm in arm with the soldiers. Arriving at the cemetery, Pershing is coaxed into some brief remarks but soon turn it over to Lt. Colonel Charles Stanton who’s remarks include a line that will echo through history - “Lafayette, we are here!” This account of the 4th of July 1917 come from an article published by the American Battle Monuments Commission - the link to the article is in the podcast notes: https://www.abmc.gov/news-events/news/july-4th-1917-paris-celebrating-united-states%E2%80%99-arrival-world-war-i [SOUND EFFECT] Dateline: July 2nd, 1917 Headline: Race riots in East St. louis There is tension leading to violence in East St. Louis this day. The massive industrial expansion brought on by the war effort in the North and the Midwest, are drawing in new sources of labor including African Americans from the rural south. The newcomers are not universally welcomed by the white population. Certainly there are concerns about job security - but there is also the deep seated and pervasive racisms of the time. On July 2nd, 1917 the situation goes out of control! It begins as several white men in a car shoot into a crowd of black pedestrians and drive off. When an hour later a similar car comes back into the neighborhood, locals fire back and two plainclothes police detectives - inside the car - are killed. The situation escalates as white mobs descend on East St. Louis -- while the police look the other way. Over the next day, reports are that 150 black people are shot, beaten to death or lynched. Rioters torch large section of the neighborhood as over 7,000 people lose their homes. Finally on July 4th, the National Guard arrives in force and the riots are put to an end. People call on President Wilson to address the issue but he stays largely silent. Plans for a 10,000 man march in NY city are being made by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People - the NAACP to protest the situation. [SOUND EFFECT] Dateline: June 28th 1917 Headline: BAKER TO CENSOR ALL TROOP NEWS Today the New York Times reports that Secretary of War - Newton Baker is very very upset by the publication of dispatches from France telling of troop movements and Pershing’s men arriving. This puts him at direct odds with George Creel, President Wilson’s Propaganda chief and publisher of the Official Bulletin, the government’s daily war gazette. Clearly there is great tension between the desire to “sell the war” and the military needs for secrecy… a tension that is not going away anytime soon. Speaking of the Official Bulletin - This week - we picked another topic to emphasize through the week’s articles in the bulletin - this week we look at LOGISTICS [SOUND EFFECT] Dateline: Thursday July 5, 1917 Headline: HUGE FIGURES SHOWING THE SCALE OF ARMY OPERATIONS AT PRESENT TIME ARE GIVEN Here are some illustrative figures showing the scale of Army operations: Purchases have been authorized as follows : Over five million blankets. Thirty-seven million yards of bobbinette. Two million cots. Forty-five million five hundred thousand yards cotton cloth, olive drab. Twenty-one million three hundred thousand yards unbleached cloth. Six million pairs of shoes. Eleven million one hundred and ninety one thousand pairs light woolen socks. Compared to 1915 In the year 1915, for sustenance for the army personnel $9,800,000; this year, $133,000,000. In the year 1915, $10,000,000 for regular supplies ; this year, almost $110,000,000. In 1915, $13,000,000 for transportation ; this year, almost $222,000,000. “The list goes on… but the scale of change in acquisition and therefore the need to organize that - logistics - is impressive. In terms of construction - three quick stories this week alone [SOUND EFFECT] Headline: SIXTEEN TENTED CITIES WILL BE BUILT FOR THE GUARDSMEN The story reads: The War Department authorizes the following : Construction has begun on 16 wooden cities for our new National Army, but this is only half of the military cities which will soon be ready for our soldiers. Steps are now being taken to build 16 cities of tents to receive the National Guardsmen who will be called to the colors soon. It will not take so long to make them ready for the troops, and for this reason - the work on them has been held back until the wooden cities were planned and put under contract. [SOUND EFFECT] Headline: PUBLIC LIBRARY FOR EACH OF 32 ARMY CANTONMENTS The American Library Association has been asked by the War Department's Commission on Training Camp Activities to furnish public library facilities to the 32 cantonments and National Guard training camps to be opened by the War Department about September 1, and the association has undertaken to render the desired service. [SOUND EFFECT] Headline: PAYMENTS TO CONTRACTORS FOR ARMY CANTONMENTS EXPLAINED The story reads: Col. I. W. Littell, Quartermaster Corps, who is in charge of cantonment construction, in a letter sent to the General Munitions Board in reply to reported delays between the forwarding of invoices for materials shipped on Government order and the date of payment therefor, states : " It is the intention of the cantonment division to pay contractors for the National Army cantonments daily, covering material inspected and accepted and to which the United States takes title; weekly, for the purpose of their payrolls ; and monthly, on the 9th of the month, for all other bills not settled for in the daily payments. [Sound Effect] Headline: SUFFICIENT SUPPLIES FOR NATIONAL GUARD AND NATIONAL ARMY IN GOOD TIME ASSURED In The Last Three Months, More Troops Have Been Outfitted Than During Entire Spanish-American War - U. S. Soldiers in France Have Six Months' Supplies With Them. “The article explains that Secretary Baker went ahead and put in the orders for these massive supplies before there was actually the money to do so - and - the article states “It saved the day! The adjournment of Congress March 4, without passing, the urgent, deficiency bill, left the War Department without money to pay for the supplies for future needs, but the orders were placed and a great saving of time was effected. All this speaks to a level of coordination and process that is unprecedented.. This is called logistics. Guest Joe Johnson, Chief of Staff at the Defense Acquisition University And with us today is an expert on the subject - Joe Johnson, is the Chief of Staff at the Defense Acquisition University. Welcome Joe! [Joe - Let me start by asking about the Defense Acquisition University? What is it?] [Joe: The scale of the war effort ramp up is incredible and actually probably hard for us to fathom today. Was there any precedent to this? ] [Joe: The subject here - logistics - is as big as the war effort - and there really are two giant heads on this hydra - here and Europe - so just for today - I want to focus here in the US. How did this logistics capability change our nation - then - and into the following century - to today?] [what encompasses logistics - for most it’s only a word - but it’s much more than that, isn’t it?] Joe, if we can I would like to have you back over the coming weeks - though this is not the “flag, glory and fight” part of what happened 100 years ago - this really is a major aspect to the war that changed the world - and our country That was Joe Johnson, the Chief of Staff at the Defense Acquisition University - Joe does a full length presentation on logistics - If you woudl like to contact joe, send us a note here at ww1cn@worldwar1centennial.org and we will get you in touch. This week Mike is going to give us some in-depth on a subject we opened a few episodes ago - The 1917 Espionage act. It and the following year’s Sedition Act are probably the most draconian assaults on the bill of rights in our nation’s history. Welcome Mike. News The biggest news for the centennial and the commemoration was announced late last week. From Bloomberg the headline reads: President Trump to attend Bastille Day Parade in Paris honoring WWI U.S. soldiers who arrived in France 100 years ago U.S. President Donald Trump has accepted French President Emmanuel Macron’s invitation to attend France’s Bastille day celebrations as the two men put aside differences to pay tribute to the U.S. soldiers who fought in France 100 years ago. Trump will attend the traditional July 14 military parade where American troops will march alongside French soldiers to commemorate the centenary of the U.S. entry into World War I, - the offices of both leaders said. This is a pretty exciting acknowledgement of the centennial by the white house and we will continue to cover the story both here and hopefully with a live stream of the event on July 14th. We are working on it - Stay tuned! Under London’s streets runs 6.5 miles of train tunnels built solely to help the city transport mail. In the years leading up to WW1, the streets of London became clogged with horse and buggies and, increasingly, the speedy automobile. It became difficult and nearly impossible to successfully deliver mail and parcels above ground, so the Postal service circumvented the congestion altogether. In 1914, construction began and the mail moved from the surface to the tunnels. The tunnels also served a special Wartime purpose during WW1, safeguarding art treasures belonging to the National Portrait Gallery and the Tate Gallery, including the Rosetta Stone. In WW2, the tunnels were put back into the war effort as dormitories for troops, and…. flooding a few times during the blitz. London shut the whole thing down well over a decade ago - but it is now re-opening as a postal museum and attraction - where visitors can see replica locomotives, engineer tools, the bag exchange system and more. Learn about the history of this unique mail system and a new place to visit in London by following the link in the podcast notes. The headline of the article reads: “Pennsylvania Teen Makes Solo Flight in 100-Year-Old Curtiss Jenny” Meet Caroline Dougherty, a young lady who turned 16 earlier this year. While many soon-to-be 16 year olds are dreaming of a sweet sixteen party, Caroline had her head firmly in the clouds with dreams of flying her father’s pride and joy, his 100-year-old Curtiss JN-4D “ the flying Jenny”. And she GOT to fly the Curtiss - at a Flying Circus Airshow, impressing all spectators including her visibly proud papa. Paul Daugherty, Caroline’s father, is a bit of an aviation enthusiast, and runs an outfit called Dougherty Airshows with planes he restores. Caroline grew up in the world of aviation and history, with dad serving as the announcer for their family airshows. If her impressive solo-flight is any indication, this high flying lass will continue to be an important part of the US air show circuit for years to come. Read more about her flight in the Curtiss by following the link in the podcast notes. link:http://airmuseumnetwork.com/pennsylvania-teen-makes-solo-flight-100-year-old-curtiss-jenny/ http://www.doughertyairshows.com/ Articles and Posts The Bridge arrives in NYC It is time for our Articles and Posts segment - where we explore the World War One Centennial Commission’s rapidly growing website at ww1cc.org - This week in the news section you will find an article following up on last week’s “Bridge Race” commemorating the arrival of US Troops in France. The Queen Mary II -- the Cunard Cruise Line’s flagship ocean liner -- made port Saturday morning at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, after taking part in The Bridge 2017 -- a trans-Atlantic trip, themed to commemorate the 100th year of World War I, and 100 years of friendship between France and the United States. You’ll find the article and beautiful images of the Queen in NY harbor on her arrival in an article posted at ww1cc.org/news all lower case. The Cunard’s historical connection to WW1 reaches back to May 7th, 1915 when one of their ships - the Lusitania - was sunk by the Germany - beginning the shift of US sentiment against war neutrality in WW1. The US WW1 Commission co-sponsored an event at NY harbor on the centennial of the sinking - you can a link to that story and the video of that commemorative ceremony in the podcast notes. link:http://www.worldwar1centennial.org/index.php/communicate/press-media/wwi-centennial-news/2704-the-bridge-has-arrived-in-new-york-city.html Link: http://www.worldwar1centennial.org/index.php/communicate/press-media/wwi-centennial-news/650-lusitania-commemoration-events-in-nyc-and-dc.html WWrite Blog In our WWRITE blog, which explores WWI’s Influence on contemporary writing and scholarship, this week's post is: “Ernst Jünger: The Modern War Story“ This week, in an interesting flip on convention, the WWrite post steps out of the current narrative in war literature to explore our culture's allure not to peace, but to violence. Rather than glorifying war, recent memoirs and books have concentrated on its debilitating and destructive effect on the returning soldier. In this post, award-winning veteran writer Elliot Ackerman gives us his take on Ernst Jünger's seminal war memoir, Storm of Steel, and the ways in which it assigns a redeeming quality to combat violence. Don't miss this most interesting post. link:http://www.worldwar1centennial.org/index.php/articles-posts/2674-the-modern-war-story-by-elliot-ackerman.html The Buzz - WW1 in Social Media Posts That brings us to the buzz - the centennial of WW1 this week in social media with Katherine Akey - Katherine - what do you have for us this week? Happy holiday dear girls! Это 8-е марта! 8 марта мы отмечаем Международный женский день. Он появился в начале 20 века на Западе и быстро распространился во многих странах. Сегодня в России это очень важный праздник! Накануне в магазинах начинается хаос, мужчины спешат купить цветы и подарки, в офисах устраивают шумные корпоративы. 8 марта – лучший день для российских женщин. Завтрак в постель, цветы, подарки и никаких домашних дел. Уборку и готовку мужчины берут на себя. Full text is here - http://realrussianclub.com/slowrussianpodcast/episode-46/ My FREE Email course. Russian assassins, getting to the truth, investigation discoveries, Howling Commando action and the role of women and diversity in Agent Carter - this week is jam packed with topics for discussion. The Legends Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents Haley, Stargate Pioneer, and Lauren dive into Agent Carter Event episode 5 “The Iron Curtain” this week. They also discuss the week in Marvel news, interact with the live Mixlr chat room and review down all the awesome Legends Of S.H.I.E.L.D. feedback. First 13 Legends Of S.H.I.E.L.D. podcasts [1:58] One last reminder: The first 13 Legends Of S.H.I.E.L.D. podcast episodes are now available exclusively on the www.LegendsOfShield.com website for download or streaming. We really appreciate your support and if any of the GonnaGeek podcasts make it to the fan voting stage we will let you know as soon as we can! Unqualified Gamers 100th episode! [3:29] Congratulations to the GonnaGeek.com video game podcast Unqualified Gamers for reaching 100 episodes this week. We certainly think they need all the support they can get since they've gone 100 episodes without being qualified to podcast about video games. Agent Carter The Iron Curtain [3:51] The hosts find themselves on the backside of the Agent Carter special event as things heat up for Agent Carter and we learn to do as Peggy says. As usual Marvel does it best to successfully creep us out by showing us The Red Room and just why Dottie is as fundamentally crazy as she is. For those of us not making the connection at home Marvel pulls back the veiling curtain and tells us flat out that Leviathan is a secret Russian shadow organization. Marvel also tries to make us like Thompson but the hosts just can't totally get there from Thompson still being...well Thompson. And the hosts wonder why Sousa is sitting on his profound discovery and we aren't talking about what he discovered in the SSR changing room either. Plus maybe Chief Dooley isn't that bad of a guy either since he wants what we want - the truth. Russian women speak for themselves. A vengeful widow sending birds as incendiary bombs to raze enemy territory. A wife and mother abandoning her family to wage war against Napoleon. A cross-dressing saint. A Bolshevik revolutionary espousing free love. A brilliant bisexual poet. Meet these and other trail-blazing, hell-raising, rule-breaking, mold-shattering Russian women in readings of poetry and prose by members of the Department of Russian and Slavic Studies.
