Catherine Bohart is an award-winning comedian, writer and actor who has performed multiple critically acclaimed solo stand up shows across the world. Her stand up special, ‘Immaculate' is available on Amazon Prime. She is also performing a number of shows in Australia so check them out! The blurb is below. Her broadcasting career is rapidly on the rise, with credits including: Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, A League Of Their Own, House of Games, Pointless Celebrities, The Stand Up Sketch Show, Roast Battle, Celebrity Mastermind and as a correspondent on The Mash Report. She recently filmed LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland for Amazon Prime. Catherine is also a talented actor, with credits including Mawaan Rizwan's BBC sitcom Juice and the sketch show Lazy Susan for BBC Three. During lockdown, Catherine co-founded and co-hosted the award-winning online stand-up gig Gigless. The gig won a JOE.ie Award for Best Online Show and Catherine also won a Chortle Award for Legend of Lockdown. She also hosts the podcast Trusty Hogs with fellow comedian Helen Bauer. Ireland's award-winning Catherine Bohart returns to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival with a very funny new solo show, Again, With Feelings. She's older than ever and quite frankly, adulthood isn't living up to her expectations. In this second coming-of-age tale, Bohart navigates the complexities of having death-obsessed parents, living in a shared house when you have OCD, and confronting the intricacies of queer reproduction in her thirties. What she thought would be a straightforward entry into adulthood turns out to be an hilariously twisted adventure. We chat about the highs and lows of doing standup, wanting to get better, being an expert debater, her unique path to comedy, perfectionism, what are you willing to do philosophy, being cut from Tv, her new shows, plus plenty more. The video footage of this entire chat is now out as well (one day after release)! In this episode, I talk to the great comedian, STEPHEN GRANT about his comedy career. Based in Brighton, Grant is a comedian, writer, and radio presenter.  At the time of recording the podcast, he ran and compered the Krater Comedy Club at the city's Komedia venue from 1999 to 2022.  The club won the Chortle Award for Best Comedy Club in the South for 2002 to 2006, 2008, and 2011 to 2014. In 2008 and 2011, Grant won the Chortle Award for Best Compere.  After 23 years, the Komedia ended his contract to run weekend nights at the Krater Comedy Club so in January 2022, Grant launched and is regular compere for the Forge Comedy Club at the Ironworks Studios in Brighton's North Laine.  The opening night featured the headliner, Romesh Ranganathan. I have seen Grant perform many times over the years including his solo show Second at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008 as well as comparing The Krater Comedy Club in 2015, 2017, online in 2020 and Krater Comedy on the beach in 2021. We cannot quite believe we've arrived at EPISODE 8. I hope you've been keeping well this week and are settled indoors with a brew for today's conversation with double Chortle Award-winning stand-up comedian, writer and satirist Kiri Pritchard-McLean. I have wanted to get Kiri on the show since day one; not only because she's one of the funniest comics on the circuit, but because I have been a huge fan of her brilliant work on The Covid Arms weekly digital comedy nights. This was such a good conversation. We chat about The Covid Arms, how it got started and how it broke a World Record. Kiri talks about what it feels like to be a comedian during lockdown and see an industry put on hiatus overnight. I ask what happened when she tried her hand at gardening (spoiler: it includes the most painful ‘slut drop' in history). And Kiri makes her pitch to present a certain BBC show. There's also the usual lockdown chat and telly recommendations.I can't recommend The Covid Arms enough. Not only will your ticket help support live comedy and comedians, but it's honestly the best digital thing I've done during lockdown. Visit www.comedyatthecovid.co.uk now to buy your ticket (you can get also pay a little bit extra to get front row tickets to interact with the acts – but get in early as those sell out fast). You can also buy merchandise on the website, with all the money going to the acts and The Trussell Trust. If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe, rate and review and tell a friend from at least two metres away. In this conversation I chat with award winning comedian Tom Ward (https://www.instagram.com/tomwardcomedian). Tom won the Chortle Award for Best Newcomer in 2017. He has been seen on Comedy Central’s ‘Roast Battle’, ‘Stand up Central’ and ‘Live From The Comedy Store’. In 2018 he was Joe Lycett’s official tour support and recently supported Jack Whitehall on tour.We went real deep in this conversation and covered a lot of ground. Tom talks about his battles with depression and how he went from verging on suicidal to being in a place where he now feels grounded and present. He cites much of this down to reading the teachings of Osho and developing a regular meditation practice. Tom describes this need in our society for us all to be busy all of the time and why it’s so important to take some time out and try and be present. We talk about the high’s and low’s of being on the road as a comedian. We also cover how Tom went from working in a charity shop to becoming a full time comedian, his former life as the lead singer of an indie band and lots more! Happy listening :)Steve - @offkeysteve See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

The show has been hailed twice as one of the world’s Top Ten Best Comedy Podcasts by The Guardian. Marsha is also the co-author of the book Off The Mic: The World’s Best Stand Up Comedians Get Serious About Comedy. The book talks about the mechanics of stand-up comedy and features interviews with 43 comedians including Lewis Black, Marc Maron, Sarah Millican, and Eddie Izzard. The book was nominated for a Chortle Award and The Independent considered it “Fascinating—part textbook, part therapist’s notebook.” Marsha’s Master’s degree in Psychology coupled by her more than a decade experience as producer and radio presenter gave her a good and thorough understanding of how connections are made. She now runs True Stories Told Live, Toronto’s biggest storytelling show and has told her story in Toronto, London, and in front of 3, 000 people at Portland’s World Domination Summit.   This week’s episode talks about content mapping and why it’s important, what the primacy and recency effects are, and the neurology of storytelling and how it works. Marsha also shares why it pays to practice when it comes to storytelling, her thoughts on brevity when telling a story, and what networking is and why it has a less than desirable connotation. When it comes to storytelling, Gretchen has this to say, “People seem to think that storytelling is the skill that you have or you don’t. And it’s not. It’s a learned set of rules.”

Chortle Award nominated Stand Up Comedian, Sean McLoughlin, returns to Spocklight to help Liam, Matt and Paul break down the first season of ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ episode by episode. In Part One of an epic two parter, we binge on the opening 9 instalments of Discovery as we retrace our steps to ‘The Vulcan Hello’ and ‘Battle at the Binary Stars’ to see if our opinion on them has changed at all since our initial reactions last year before deep diving into the rest of the first half of the season. Listen as Liam points out the attention to detail given to a late season twist right from the start and celebrates finally seeing the franchise treat a mature, same sex relationship with respect rather than just throwaway lip service. Meanwhile, Paul is glad to see the back of the Shenzhou early on but is upset at Sarek being shoehorned in as Michael's adoptive father. Matt thinks Lorca would batter Picard in a showdown (but really, who wouldn’t?!) and touches on the current climate of fan culture, Reddit-theorizing and Sean points out how much the new spore drive undermines the other Trek TV shows (hello Voyager!) and professes his love for his favourite episode of Disco so far but which one will it be? Hear our various Lorca theories (where is Prime Lorca? Who HASN'T he been shagging?) and a metric fuckton of spoilers (you have been warned!) as we discover, after all the production problems, whether this new voyage for the Trek universe is any good after all.
