He enjoys following meditations on an app, but in person delivers deeper results. 5:06- “Whenever you’re chasing something, it is going to elude you.” (Clemens)6:40- There is somewhat of a DMT activation for about 10-30 seconds with focused breath work. 8:40- Clemens goes over the experiences that the early practitioners had, originally thinking they were only feeling the effects because they had taken LSD. 10:45- “When you are breathing with a lot of people you feel the interconnectedness.” (Clemens) 12:20- Patton feels like he is a guinea pig because of his openness to experiment on himself. Using Wim Hom Method has helped him from relying so much on taking naps to regain energy. 15:50- Clemens has a podcast and YouTube channel that she full creative control over and uses it to help people discover the power of their breath to reduce stress. 18:04- Using breath work reduces cortisol levels and activates the Theta brain waves. 20:46- “Your breathing pattern is how you respond to life.” (Clemens) 25:02- There are numerous ways to breath properly, Clemens enjoys the circular approach, where there isn’t a break between breaths and the diaphragm is used. 28:45- Breathing through the nose stimulates the third eye chakra. 32:33- Many people unconsciously gasp then hold the breath when faced with stress and continue the bad habit. 36:13- Clemens and Patton both agree that when you are in control of your breath, others can’t throw you off. Clemens describes it as breathing in the spirit. 38:14- Patton always does a breath work session in the morning before he begins his workflow. 38:50- Clemens had to deal with sexual abuse from her father when she was young which made her very defensive towards men. After breath work was introduced to her, she felt that she was becoming more anchored to her soul and able to heal. 43:37- “Your lungs were designed to be the heavy lifters of releasing toxins.” (Clemens) 46:00- Clemens’s son contracted COVID-19 but luckily it didn’t penetrate into his lungs. 48:58- Clemens has been a breath work practitioner for over seventeen years. 52:03- Patton describes his experience taking Adderrall where he would find himself accidentally holding his breath. He later found out how bad this was for his body and stopped taking it. 55:55- The Matrix is brought up when discussing letting go of resisting things. “What you resist, persists.”1:00:06- Patton describes his first basketball game where his dad was watching, which totally got him in his head and led him to having a very bad game. 1:03:14- Clemens feels like she is just now getting started on her journey. 1:05:15- Most people don’t appreciate a long, deep breath until they are unable to take one. One way Clemens built her appreciation was by fasting for four days and not shower for one week. Even the most simple things felt orgasmic after the fast was done and she took a shower.

Wilson enjoys playing acoustic guitar, listens to John Mayer and when he’s about to hit the gym, he turns up the house music.12:49- He is not obsessed with style, but likes to actually like what he is wearing.15:40- Wilson is eager to get into MMA training because he believes it can improve his game.18:00- Patton describes Comedians as ‘Thought Leaders’, Wilson enjoys listening to Joe Rogan and considers himself a big fan.20:14- If the Major League doesn’t work out for Wilson, he still would love to work in the media side of the Baseball world. His degree is in Communications for Advertising. He enjoys working in social media with photography and videography.22:39- After working for three months at an Italian restaurant in the summer while in Junior College, Wilson realized even more how he wanted to work for himself. Even though he is technically considered an employee in the League, he feels he has more control over where his career will go.24:55- Wilson views Meditation as his time for visualization and has a neutral approach to it.26:55- His best games are when his isn’t thinking and is letting his body do its thing. The worst games he’s had are when he is overthinking everything and isn’t locked in on the current pitch.30:20- Even during the quarantine, he and his wife have made it to the beach about once a week. Sometimes he will surf, but mostly just lay out and relax and eat lunch.32:09- Patton has been enjoying living in Colorado and describes it as a warm snow, not like the East Coast snow.34:06- Wilson and Patton both reflect on enjoying talking about the mental game of sports and life. “Be Yourself” is Wilson’s parting piece of advice.

The use of characters makes watching the fights entertaining, Patton believes.3:11- Nelson first began his UFC pro debut in December 2018 by fighting at 155 pounds against Diego Ferreira. After having a 12-1 record at 145 pounds prior to the UFC, losing to Ferreira was difficult to deal with but pushed him to continue training to be his best.7:23- Adrenaline dump is a serious issue for many athletes, Nelson experienced it strongly in the fight against Ferreira.10:36- Nelson’s home gym is House of Champions in Stoney Creek, three hours from his home in Huntsville. He will usually stay three or four days and sleeps on a futon in the extra training room.12:20- Nelson’s son, Corbin has already experienced the MMA lifestyle by watching and participating in training sessions. Even though he is a Kindergartner, he has learned to not be a bully and take the fighting outside of the gym.19:34- Patton used to laugh at people when they would get worked up and excited about their sport of choice, now Patton laughs at himself because MMA is what does that for him.22:07- Nelson has broken his wrist once while doing wrestling training. His introduction to MMA training was in Kick Boxing and Jiu Jitsu23:47- Nelson defeated his most recent opponent, Marco Polo Reyes with a knockout in the first round that resulted from a barrage of elbows and hard punches to the head.32:47- Nelson has to use an app that allows the UFC to determine where he is and if needed, he will be randomly tested for steroids through a blood or urine test. Patton talks about how he uses Testosterone replacement therapy to stay in top condition as he ages.39:39- Nelson isn’t interested in putting on a character for the audience, he enjoys being his real self and showcasing his authentic personality.43:19- Patton & Nelson agree that when winning the title shot, it is better to have a knockout than a close decision from the judges.    44:36- The UFC has a Twitch gaming account that Nelson is considering playing for down time. He put his personal training services on hold while preparing for fights and is still active in being a distributor in Canada for Sheath Underwear.48:48- Patton believes that twenty eight year old Nelson has at least a few more years until he reaches his prime, with thirty three being an age he felt best at.50:41- Nelson explains that in the Octagon, there is not thinking, time has slowed down. You have to be ready to react offensively or defensively. He works in the Sports Lab playing computer games that help to improve reaction time.56:06- The question that is often asked, “Would you still fight if you had lots of money?” Nelson’s answer is clear, he would absolutely keep fighting because it is his passion.

Using a sound with no connotation, he will make a sound for five to ten minutes and after stopping the sound naturally your thoughts will fall away and time is slowed down. Your shoulders are dropped and your face is loose, feeling your heart and organs operating in harmony.  Jewell imagines himself elsewhere and will take away all the other pieces of the environment until there is nothing left.17:17- Jewell is in a much more positive headspace after leaving behind toxic relationships and corporate work environments. Things that are truly important to him are happening on a more frequent basis.19:45- His current job is logistics at Amazon, while Co-Host Josh works at Apple as a repair specialist. Basketball is what he enjoys most and puts him into a zen state.34:00- The importance of dressing well to promote positive self image became more important after trying on new suits after too long of wearing the same, boring clothes. After wanting to leave the following morning, he talked with the Shaman and he encouraged him the cleansing was necessary to get the full experience. He ended up throwing up again with the first cup in the morning, then decided to drink another cup. After not getting the full effects he realized it was because he didn’t properly prepare his diet because he ate BBQ earlier before the first trip.18:00 There is a mutual agreement that regular exercise and clean diet and fasting (pre work)  is essential to fully benefit from the psychedelic experience.21:11 The importance of sleep is apparent after Issac has stated he has had an irregular sleep schedule for most of his 20's and has feelings of exhaustion after sleeping anytime over six hours. After ten years of horrible sleep apnea, Robert's doctor identified a severe case of Tonsillitis and a deviated septum. After his surgery, his sleep did improve but needed to break the habit of waking every three hours or so.Issac brings up his technique of sleep hypnosis that helped him while he worked as an EMT technician where he could fall asleep wherever he was at the moment, from the side of the road to a stretcher or standing, he could make himself fall asleep very quickly.28:00 Robert had to check himself after micro dosing Psilocybin early last year for a strong couple of months, beginning to feel like he wasn't focusing and optimizing with frequent use.32:00 Issac discovers Ju Jit Su in Montgomery, Alabama 7 to 8 years ago from a local group of guys that would meet up at a Taikwando gym after the kids classes let out.34:00 Recalling his high school swimming days where his coach would film the swims to improve technique, he adapted that strategy with his MMMA training. Studying the film and working on all details to get better.37:27 "You have to lose over and over and over again in order to get better", discussing the positive side of losing and gaining strength over adversity.39:44 Issac discusses his college football career start, being a walk on and observing the outlandish spending habits of the scholarship athletes who were given stipends.43:08 Robert and Issac reflect that school seemed to be a thing of status but also gave them real value on how to run business in modern society.44:56 Robert parallels how he used to be a scared and terrible public speaker while in college to his transition as a keynote speaker at an Inventor's roundtable convention, having a huge breakthrough after connecting with the audience and being on the verge of tears after telling the story of him not quitting on himself to become his best self.47:30 Issac brings up the importance of self education and explains how he used encyclopedias and google searches to enhance his continued pursuit of knowledge49:27 Robert & Issac both agree that Joe Rogan is the "Oprah of Meat Heads"51:47 Issac describes Podcasts as "eliminating echo chambers" to promote fluid conversation.

We chat with Steven Wise, the central figure in the outstanding new documentary Unlocking the Cagethat will screen at the 2016 Melbourne International Film Festival.Unlocking the Cage follows animal rights lawyer Steven Wise in his unprecedented challenge to break down the legal wall that separates animals from humans. After thirty years of struggling with ineffective animal welfare laws, Steve and his legal team, the Nonhuman Rights Project (NhRP), are making history by filing the first lawsuits that seek to transform an animal from a thing with no rights to a person with legal protections.Supported by affidavits from primatologists around the world, Steve maintains that, based on scientific evidence, cognitively complex animals such as chimpanzees, whales, dolphins, and elephants have the capacity for limited personhood rights (such as bodily liberty) that would protect them from physical abuse. Using writs of habeas corpus (historically used to free humans from unlawful imprisonment), Wise argues on behalf of four captive chimpanzees in New York State.Nonhuman Rights Project www.nonhumanrightsproject.orgOfficial Unlocking the Cage documentary website www.unlockingthecagethefilm.comSave the Chimps sanctuary www.savethechimps.orgPhoto courtesy of "Unlocking the Cage" filmmakers.
