“When the world gives you no hope whatsoever in a situation you have 2 options: you can completely turn away from God. Or you can say, The world gives me no hope, so I'm going to hang on to the one thing that will.” ~Amber HayesNavigating parenthood is often compared to embarking on an epic journey, filled with unexpected twists and turns. In our latest podcast episode, we delve into a family's extraordinary journey of love, resilience, and faith. Amber opens up about the challenges and triumphs of parenting, particularly in the face of a rare medical condition diagnosed in their son, Nolan. One of the pivotal moments in the episode is Amber's recounting of their journey to parenthood through IVF. The initial joy of becoming parents is soon overshadowed by the discovery of Nolan's condition, Ataxia Telangiectasiam, a rare and progressive neurological disorder. The uncertainty and anxiety that come with such a diagnosis are palpable, as the family navigates through a series of medical tests and consultations. Faith plays a central role in this family's story. Amber discusses how their belief in God's promises provided a source of strength and peace amidst the chaos. Nolan's progress, from walking and playing sports to participating in American Ninja Warrior gym classes, is celebrated as a testament to God's faithfulness. The episode underscores that faith is not just a passive hope but an active, sustaining force that helps them face each day with courage and optimism.Another profound theme explored in the episode is the concept of finding faith in uncertainty. Amber reflects on the difficulty of waiting for answers and the struggle of trusting in God's plan without knowing the future. This period of waiting has deepened their connection with Jesus and led to a greater reliance on God's word. They emphasize the importance of living in the moment and recognizing everyday miracles, no matter how small. This mindset shift, from seeking grand miracles to appreciating incremental progress, is a powerful lesson for anyone facing similar trials.Throughout the episode, Amber's story is a poignant reminder that while we may not have control over life's trials, we can choose how we respond to them. By focusing on faith, resilience, and the support of our community, we can navigate even the most daunting challenges with grace and strength. At least 24 bodies were found in one of Haiti's upscale neighborhoods, an area where violence is unusual. Notorious Haitian coup leader Guy Philippe has made an alliance with the gangs who want him to be president. And, freedom of speech vs. posting dangerous misinformation on social media.
Haiti faces a myriad of complex challenges that threaten the well-being of its people and hinder the nation's development.Political Instability: Haiti has a long history of political instability, characterized by frequent changes in government, corruption, and weak institutions. Political unrest often leads to protests, violence, and economic disruption, further exacerbating the country's challenges.Economic Crisis: Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, with a significant portion of its population living below the poverty line. High unemployment rates, low wages, and limited access to basic services contribute to widespread poverty and economic vulnerability.Natural Disasters: Haiti is prone to natural disasters, including hurricanes, earthquakes, and flooding. The country's vulnerability to these events is compounded by factors such as deforestation, inadequate infrastructure, and poor urban planning, leading to significant humanitarian crises and loss of life.Environmental Degradation: Deforestation, soil erosion, and environmental degradation are serious problems in Haiti. Rampant deforestation, driven by charcoal production and agricultural expansion, has depleted the country's natural resources, leading to soil erosion, loss of biodiversity, and increased vulnerability to natural disasters.Healthcare Challenges: Haiti's healthcare system is underfunded and poorly equipped to meet the needs of its population. Limited access to healthcare facilities, medical supplies, and trained personnel contributes to high rates of preventable diseases, maternal and infant mortality, and poor health outcomes.Education: Access to quality education is limited in Haiti, particularly in rural areas where schools are often poorly resourced and understaffed. High dropout rates, low literacy levels, and inadequate infrastructure hinder the country's human capital development and economic growth.Crime and Violence: Haiti struggles with high levels of crime and violence, including gang-related activities, drug trafficking, and interpersonal violence. Weak law enforcement, corruption, and socioeconomic inequality contribute to the perpetuation of criminal activities and undermine public safety.Humanitarian Crises: The combination of political instability, economic hardship, natural disasters, and social challenges has led to recurring humanitarian crises in Haiti. These crises often result in displacement, food insecurity, and inadequate access to clean water, shelter, and healthcare services. In this episode, we get our daily look at how quickly things continue to decline and the toll it is taking on the people of Haiti. The death toll has reached over 10,000 in Gaza, just one month after fighters from Hamas launched a series of surprise attacks on Israel that killed 1,400 people. Aid hasn't reached Northern Gaza since the crisis began, and the UN says it has no information on the needs or conditions of an estimated 400,000 civilians thought to be there. Conditions for the civilian population in Gaza are deteriorating, with humanitarian aid trickling in slowly, and shortages of vital supplies becoming acute. Mike Seawright is the founder of New Zealand charity ReliefAid, which is delivering aid in Gaza. Seawright spoke to Corin Dann.

“The current state of reproductive affairs can't continue much longer without threatening human survival,” says epidemiologist Shanna Swan. Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are the worst for average Testosterone levels. Russia, Brazil, Mexico, India, Afghanistan, and most of Africa are way higher than the US and Europe. How's that going to work out for the future of world civilizations? It takes testosterone to build business. . .to fight wars. . . to defend countries. . .to go after the bad guys (on the part of civil governments who do not bear the sword in vain.) As you can see from the collection of articles added below, the housing recession has finally reached a point where only the most oblivious could possibly claim that it's not happening. Despite the best efforts of the Fed to control inflation, jobless claims and mortgage rates are rising, and housing prices are falling. What does all this mean for the economy? Chris and Saied are here to offer some thoughts. In today's episode of The Higher Standard, Chris and Saied take a look at all this new information to try and understand the economic implications of it all, starting with an article from CNBC stating that a new report from Redfin shows that home purchase cancellations are above 15% for the second straight month. They discuss why the Fed's attempts to curb inflation seem to not be going well. The difficulty is that the primary method for curbing inflation - raising the Fed borrowing rates and pulling out liquidity with quantitative tightening - has an impact on earnings for corporations, which has its own implications. Chris and Saied discuss a recent article from Bloomberg which states quite clearly that US housing prices have fallen for the first time since 2012, and one from Fortune, reporting that housing prices have plunged in 77% of US metro areas. They also discuss the many reasons to be wary of advice from people like Grant Cardone, and why Cardone Capital is not a real estate investment trust, but a long-term investment vehicle. If you have burning questions about commercial real estate, this is the episode you've been waiting for! Join Chris and Saied for this fascinating conversation. Enjoy! What You'll Learn in this Show: The reasons why in August, 15.2% of home purchase agreements fell through, similar to 15.5% in July, according to a new report from Redfin. Why the Fed's efforts to curb inflation has repercussions for corporations as revenue is drawn away, along with earnings. Why 'The Turn has Finally Happened,' according to Fortune, while mortgage rates have hit 6.7%, the highest rate in two decades. Some important considerations to keep in mind when listening to so-called "experts" like Grant Cardone. And so much more...
