We had the pleasure of interviewing Capstan over Zoom video! To make a mosaic, tiny pieces interlock as a larger picture. In similar fashion, distinct elements coalesce as one in Capstan. The Florida quintet—Anthony Demario [vocals], Joe Mabry [guitar], Harrison Borman [guitar], Andrew “Boz” Bozymowski [bass, vocals], and Scott Fisher [drums]—merge metallic precision with pit-splitting hardcore grooves and the kind of hooks you can't shake. After amassing tens of millions of streams and earning acclaim from the likes of KERRANG! and many more, the group paint a definitive body of work on their aptly titled third full-length offering, The Mosaic [Fearless Records]. Since 2015, Capstan have progressed with each subsequent move. Following Seasonal Depression [2015] and In The Wake of Our Discord [2018], they made waves with their full-length debut, Restless Heart, Keep Running, in 2019. Among many standouts, “Stars Before The Sun” racked up over 5.1 million Spotify streams followed by “We'll Always Have Paris” with 2.5 million Spotify streams. 2021 saw them level up again with Separate. Right out of the gate, KERRANG! rated it “4-out-of-5 stars” and proclaimed, “This is Capstan at full strength and it's a second outing to be proud of.” They toured with the likes of Trash Boat, Doll Skin, Silverstein, and many more. This time around, the boys opted to self-produce, engineer, and record what would become The Mosaic. At the same time, they collectively absorbed the spirit of a more optimistic season. As with any mosaic worth pondering, this one might just leave you uplifted. We want to hear from you! S7E15 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 11 April 2024. TSORR was on Myoli Beach in Sedgefield for this episode so the view was great. This week's Twisted Twins featured tracks called ‘Winter'. We looked to a local band called Crash Car Burn for the first track and then went back to the amazing Goats Head Soup album for a Rolling Stones song called Winter. It's interesting to note that this is one of the few Rolling Stones that Keith Richard did not play on. The song was written and recorded by the two Mick's – Jagger and Taylor. Immortals was courtesy of Avenged Sevenfold, the title track off The Stage, the last good album they made before they went mental and served up the biggest turd in the history of metal. off the Born to Run album, we took a listen to ‘Jungleland'. Springsteen is at his finest on this groundbreaking album but it's Clarens Clemons' sax solo that really makes it Immortal. The Diabolical Challenge looked at four bands beginning with the letter ‘O'. The idea is that we have 4 albums, and you can only pick one. This week we had: Oasis – What's The Story Morning GloryOzzy Osbourne – The Ultimate SinThe Offspring – Killboy PowerheadOver Kill – The Grinding Wheel Artists Featured: King Kobra, Mötley Crüe, Phil Campbell & the Bastard Sons, Mick Mars, Airbourne, Doll Skin, Loverboy, Pat Benatar, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metal Church, KISS, W.A.S.P., Crash Car Burn, The Rolling Stones, System of a Down, The Winery Dogs, Thunder, Warrant, Judas Priest, Keel, Foo Fighters, Guns ‘n Roses, Massive Wagons, Phillip Sayce, The Pretty Reckless, Avenged Sevenfold, Over Kill, The Offspring, Ozzy Osbourne, Oasis, Green Day, Anti-Flag, Y&T, Triumph, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy, In Flames, ConilThe Story of Rock and Roll. Episode 3 of Season 6 launched promptly at 19h00 on Rebel Rock Radio and then crashed back to earth like a failed rocket launch. It was restarted and got back on the air at 19h17. The joys of internet radio. This was the first episode going out on fibre. While podcast people have not been affected, listeners to the live show have had a really rough ride of late thanks to load shedding in South Africa. Since late 2022 it has either been my cell towers collapsing (Telcom) or if mine are up then the guys trying to listen have no power. It is, as they say, a shit show. When we did get going we started with Aerosmith and 'Young Lust' of the hugely successful Pump album. From there we had Ratt and then Sixx A.M., with 'Lies of the Beautiful People'. There were two tracks with a Metallica theme running through, W.A.S.P. with 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' and then Volbeat with an excellent cover of ‘Don't Tread on Me' to keep the show Rambling On. Speaking of which I used Led Zepellin with ‘Ramble On' and Judas Priest with ‘Better By You Better Than Me' to talk a bit about the development of modern Metal. On the local scene, we checked out more of Infanteria's phenomenal album Patriarch and a track called ‘Repent Through the Orders You Seek'. It was a pleasure to play the brand new track by South African Metal heavyweights Deadline. The track is called 'Cult of Prometheus, it has just been released, Dave Devo Oosthuizen who works tirelessly to promote SA music, sent it to me and it is a pleasure to give it some airtime. We had classics from ACDC, and Motörhead, plenty from the ladies, Laura Cox, Samantha Fish, Doll Skin, and L7. This weeks Songs that may be about South Africa included 'The Ditch' (Dave Hause), 'Don't Lie To Me' (Dokken), High 'n' Dry (Def Leppard), 'Sucker Born' (Samantha Fish) and 'Take Back Your Life' from Disturbed. This week The Immortals, i.e. classic metal tracks that are over 7 min long and will last forever, came courtesy of Deep Purple with ‘Child in Time'. Following on was hard and I delegated the job to Tool and their amazing track about two additional chromones ‘Forty-Six and 2'. A highlight of the show was a track sent to me called ‘Goodbye To The World and The Whole Damn Thing' by a band called deadfilmstar. I really enjoyed it, it has such an evil feel to it. It is Mansonesque but very fresh, check it out. Wrapping up we had UK Punky stuff from The Police, the Jam, and then for good measure, we had Böhse Onkels and a track called 'Saufen ist wie Weinen' which means drinking is like crying. It is the best Böhse Onkels track I have ever heard, love that little bluesy intro. The new Bush album The Art of Survival gave us a track called ‘More Than Machines'. Metalheads can go to the last 10 minutes of the show for Obituary and In Flames, Nu Metal fans can go twenty minutes before the end and catch Birthday Boy Kid Rock and a track off Rock ‘n' Roll Jesus and Limp Bizkit with the amazing Wes Borland on guitar doing a track called Rollin', thanks as always for tuning in guys, much appreciated, Adios Amoeba's catch you next week. Artists featured: Aerosmith, Ratt, Sixx AM, Thin Lizzy, Y&T, The Quireboys, Def Leppard, W.A.S.P., Volbeat, Sword, Infanteria, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, Drowning Pool, Disturbed, Laura Cox, Samantha Fish, Doll Skin, L7, Dave Hause, Slash (feat Chris Cornell), Motörhead, ACDC, Dokken, Manowar, Deadfilmstar, Deadline, Deep Purple, Tool, The Dead Daisies, The Police, The Jam, Böhse Onkels, Bush, Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, Obituary, In Flames, David Lee Roth The Story of Rock and Roll. This week, Bailey and Tyler ask the question: how risky is it to attend concerts? A recent interview done by the people at Billboard this week helped answer just that by talking to an infectious disease expert Dr. Amesh A. Adalja. They give you the gist of the interview while trying to help out any concert-goers that may feel uneasy or unsure about the safety of concerts. Before they get to that, the crew runs through some interesting music news, then they talk about State Champs' new teaser for their upcoming "Just Sound" song, as well as give their takes on new music released this week from Noahfinnce, Save Face, Yungblud, Doll Skin, happydaze, Real Friends and Royal Blood.Source: Billboard (https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/touring/9616439/concerts-safe-vaccinated-people-infectious-disease-expert-advice/)Want to hear the new music we discussed this week? This is a final installment of interviews recorded at the Detroit stop of the Vans Warped Tour, this one with Sydney Dolezal & Alex Snowden from the Arizona-based rock band Doll Skin. Already wise beyond their youth, with all the members of Doll Skin only at 18 to 19 years of age, they have a sound that varies from punk, metal, and alternative. They released their debut full-length album Manic Pixie Dream Girl in the summer of 2017 and has been turning heads every since. During our conversation, we talked about their experiences on the Warped Tour, what it means being the only all-female band on the tour, the need to progress the amount of women in music while still trying to just be known as simply a band, having their parents on tour, and dealing with enjoying their youth while being a touring band, among other very interesting topics discussed. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/freshistheword/message

Today, I am talking about mental illness. Recently, Hayley Williams and Lynn Gunn have spoken openly about their battles with depression and anxiety. I also mention the War on Women articles on how Warped Tour is still perpetuating sexism, and Bethany of Best Coast telling everyone she is in fact a person outside of a band and also keeping the girlhood alive in music. PRESENTED BY BOOST MOBILE I love Doll Skin (Sydney Dolezal, Alex Snowden, Nicole Rich, Meghan Herring). They have great music, hooks, harmonies and swagger. It was a pleasure meeting them in Crest Hill before their Bada Brew gig in mid-May. We covered a lot in a short time, including: Trying to appease the vegetarians in the band. How was I to know one was allergic to avocado? Eating on the road: It sucks. Not-so-lady-like burping on the microphone. My delay in punching up details on Facebook for the Boost Mobile live stream. It's an age thing. Clearly. How they started, and how they were taken under David Ellefson's wing. No big deal there... he's only in MEGADETH. Ellefson's advice? "Always say yes" Why is Dave Mustaine scary? My sad confession: "I've never worried about the guys in Megadeth listening to this." The new (and anticipated) Doll Skin album "Manic Pixie Dream Girl." The Boost Mobile Social Media Message of the Week gets to the bottom of why Car Con Carne doesn't go to the suburbs as often.

Kingdom of Rock - Helping DIY Musicians and Music Entrepreneurs with Business
Photo by Pao Glitter in Buenos Aires Argentina If you like heavy metal or thrash, David Ellefson needs no introduction. As bassist and co-founder of the iconic band Megadeth, David has pretty much seen or done it all in the world of rock and roll and especially in the music industry. In this amazing chat, David breaks down the walls and stereotypes of what it means to be a rock star and what it takes to make a living as a music entrepreneur in today's world. We talked about his current and upcoming tours and projects with Megadeth, Dollskin and Metal Allegiance and honestly just had a great conversation about music and life. I hope you all find it as informative and uplifting as I did! After the interview, I talked to David about my dream to be a rock star and shared some of my concerns about being able to take care of my family as a full time artist. His advice to me was "follow the music where it takes you". That got me thinking and I came up with this: Sometimes we try so hard to control our destinies that we miss the destiny right in front of us. Live the best life you can for the benefit of yourself and others right here -in the destiny you are living - maybe the music will take me somewhere else? Time will tell! Until next time - keep dreaming my friends! Matt PS Be sure to like the Kingdom of Rock Facebook Page! // Episode 14 is LIVE and WOW it was so fun to chat with Megadeth bassist David Ellefson!
