S8E6 went out live from Sedgefield at 19h00 on 6 Feb 2025.  It was great to be back doing a live show.  We kicked off pretty chilled but that didn't last, we got through Ryan Eagles and into Pantera pretty damn quick.  There is something for everyone who loves guitars on this show.  The Twisted Twins featured two tracks called ‘Black & White'  by U.D.O. and Saxon.   The Rock and Metal Time Machine looked at 4 events: The Beatles on Ed Sullivan in 1964, Jimi Hendrix on ToTP's, The Clash signing to CBS, and Bon Scott's last-ever song with ACDC.  The Immortals was mellow with Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Diabolical Challenge was p@#s heavy with four albums produced by Ross Robinson, the godfather of Nu-Metal.  Slipknot, Sepultura, Korn, and Machine Head did the honours.    Artists featured:  Ryan Adams, Eagles, Thin Lizzy, Pantera, Hellyeah, Joe Bonamassa, Kid Rock, Counting Crows, Dio, Black Sabbath, Michael Schenker Group, The Winery Dogs, Alice Cooper, Saxon, U.D.O., BlackØwl, Black Stone Cherry, Seether, Accept, Rory Gallagher, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Clash, ACDC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Korn, Machine Head, Slipknot, Sepultura, LIVE, Tremonti, Rush, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Arch Enemy, The Gaslight Anthem.    The Story of Rock and Roll. S7E19 went out Live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 9 May 2024.  Winter is coming to Johannesburg so this show helped to warm up the airwaves.  We kicked off with Blackfoot of Tomcattin' and a track called 'Gimme, Gimme, Gimme'.  From there on out it was all the rock and metal we could squeeze in from the last 55 years.   Continuing with Evolutions we took in a track off The Foo Fighters' second album The Color and The Shape.     Just to reiterate please NOTE that if you listen to TSORR on Google Podcasts they are shutting it down and forcing podcasters onto YouTube Music.  The problem with that is you just can't get through the red tape and the shows get blocked due to the convoluted licencing structures.  You can find us on plenty of other sites if this happens.  The TSORR website www.thestoryofrockandroll.com will always be able to help.  You can also always contact TSORR on Facebook, X, or Instagram.     This week's Twisted Twins featured tracks called ‘Reason to Believe'.  Bruce Springsteen and Arch Enemy did the honours.     Immortals this week came from Gary Moore and a track called 'Blood of Emeralds'.  It was tempting to give ‘Parisienne Walkways' a go but traditionally we stay more obscure with immortals.  Maybe next time.     The Diabolical Challenge looked at four bands beginning with the letter ‘S'.  The idea is that we have 4 albums, and you can only pick one.  This week we had: Scorpions – Love At First StingSaxon – Wheels of SteelSeether – GasolineSkid Row – Skid RowWe also had Bomb Crocodile and Slow Panda's Picks of the Week featuring birthday boy Joe Bonamassa and Spiritbox.Check out the website to sign up for the monthly TSORR newsletterArtists Featured: Blackfoot, Badlands, Theory of a Deadman, Boston, Van Halen, Massive Wagons, Kickin' Valentina, Backyard Babies, Patti Smith, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, John Cougar, Last In Line, Def Leppard, Bruce Springsteen, Arch Enemy, Nirvana, Mick mars, Daughtry, Disturbed, Foo Fighters, Godsmack, Karen Zoid (feat Dan Patlansky), Dan Patlansky, The Black Cat Bones, Springbok Nude Girls, Gary Moore, Scorpions, Saxon, Skid Row, Seether, The Clash, The Stranglers, the Fismits, Joe Bonamassa, Spiritbox, Ghost Brigade, Billy idolThe Story of Rock and Roll. S7E15 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 11 April 2024.     TSORR was on Myoli Beach in Sedgefield for this episode so the view was great.   This week's Twisted Twins featured tracks called ‘Winter'.  We looked to a local band called Crash Car Burn for the first track and then went back to the amazing Goats Head Soup album for a Rolling Stones song called Winter.  It's interesting to note that this is one of the few Rolling Stones that Keith Richard did not play on.  The song was written and recorded by the two Mick's – Jagger and Taylor.     Immortals was courtesy of Avenged Sevenfold, the title track off The Stage, the last good album they made before they went mental and served up the biggest turd in the history of metal.  off the Born to Run album, we took a listen to ‘Jungleland'.  Springsteen is at his finest on this groundbreaking album but it's Clarens Clemons' sax solo that really makes it Immortal.     The Diabolical Challenge looked at four bands beginning with the letter ‘O'.  The idea is that we have 4 albums, and you can only pick one.  This week we had: Oasis – What's The Story Morning GloryOzzy Osbourne – The Ultimate SinThe Offspring – Killboy PowerheadOver Kill – The Grinding Wheel Artists Featured: King Kobra, Mötley Crüe, Phil Campbell & the Bastard Sons, Mick Mars, Airbourne, Doll Skin, Loverboy, Pat Benatar, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metal Church, KISS, W.A.S.P., Crash Car Burn, The Rolling Stones, System of a Down, The Winery Dogs, Thunder, Warrant, Judas Priest, Keel, Foo Fighters, Guns ‘n Roses, Massive Wagons, Phillip Sayce, The Pretty Reckless, Avenged Sevenfold, Over Kill, The Offspring, Ozzy Osbourne, Oasis, Green Day, Anti-Flag, Y&T, Triumph, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy, In Flames, ConilThe Story of Rock and Roll. S7E12 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 21 March 2024.  It was full throttle out of the gate with Dio and ‘Evil Eyes'.  We had some new music from Dan Patlansky, Judas Priest and Bruce Dickenson.  Most interesting is a new single from Vended.  I am really digging Vended a lot, sons of Slipknot, literally, Griffin Tayor and Simon Crahan doing their parents proud.   To remind you to get tickets for next year's Green Day, The Offspring, and Fokofpolisikar concert in Cape Town and JHB we again took a quick track from each of them.   This weeks Twisted Twins featured a song called 'Lost in Hollywood'.  The new Judas Priest is out so obviously we continued to rave about that.    This week's Immortals feature was incredible.  Mark Knopfler has assembled 60 musicians, mostly guitarists (he's got Ringo and his son Zak on drums and Sting on Bass), and it is a veritable who's who of guitar.  The track has been recorded by Mark Knopfler and Friends to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.  It's a new version of 'Going Home' (Theme from Local Hero) and, it includes contributions from among others Joe Bonamassa, Slash, Springsteen, Joe Satriani, Steve Lukather, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, John Mc Laughlin, Brian May, the list goes.  Incredible.       This week's Diabolical Challenge looked at four bands beginning with the letter ‘L'.  The idea is that we have 4 albums, and you can only pick one.  This week we had: Loverboy – Get LuckyLed Zeppelin – Over the Hills and Far AwayLynyrd Skynyrd – Second HelpingLive – Throwing Copper Artists Featured: Dio, Chickenfoot, Phil X & the Drills, ACDC, ZZ Top, Saxon, Motörhead, The Union Underground, Overkill, Black Tide, Alice Cooper, Doomsday Outlaw, Michael Schenker Group, Guns ‘n' Roses, Volbeat, Rainbow, System of a Down, Judas Priest, Bruce Dickinson, Bullet For My Valentine, Machine Head, Green Day, The Offspring, Fokofpolisiekar, Loverboy, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Live, Metallica, Megadeth, Vended, Piet Botha & Jackhammer, Joe Bonamassa, Dan Patlansky, Pink Floyd. The Story of Rock and Roll. S7E11 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 14 March 2024.  Last week we invented a new feature which, thanks to some audience participation, has become known as Twisted Twins.  It involves playing two songs with the same name but by different bands.  We continued with Twisted Twins on this show as well as the usual favourites The Diabolical Challenge and The Immortals.  The new Judas Priest is out so obviously we continued to rave about that.  There is also a new Pearl Jam album coming and we took a listen to the title track 'Dark Matter.  Plus we have great news!  Green Day, The Offspring and Fokofpolisiekar coming to SA in January 2025.   This week's Immortals feature – a track over 7 min that showcases an artist in a way that typical < 5 min radio tracks can't.  This week we had one of the world's most beloved bands – Pink Floyd and the 11-minute masterpiece off Animals titled ‘Pigs (Three Different Ones)'.  Log overdue some might say, excuse the pun.       On The  Diabolical Challenge, we looked at four bands beginning with the letter ‘K'.  The idea is that we have 4 albums, and you can only pick one.  This week we had: King Diamond – AbigailKrokus – One Vice At a TimeKiss – Lick It UpKid Rock – Rebel Soul Artists Featured: Nazareth, Mustasch, Buckcherry, Accept, Ratt, Iron Maiden, Volbeat, Green Day, The Offspring, Fokofpolisiekar, Great White, Jelusick, Cold Chisel, Airbourne, Mark Haze, Butch Walker, Tool, Pearl Jam, The Clash, The Stranglers, Annihilator, Burning Witches, Infanteria, Metal Church, Pink Floyd, King Diamond, Krokus, Kid Rock, KISS, Rush, Velvet Revolver, Elton John, The Beatles, Judas Priest, Saxon, Arch Enemy, Circus of Power.  The Story of Rock and Roll. Technocracy is to the transformation of society as Transhumanism is to the transformation of the human condition of people who would live in that society. Both are underpinned by a religious belief known as Scientism that says that science is a god and that scientists, engineers and technologists are the priesthood that translates findings into practice. It is a fatal error to equate Scientism with science. True science explores the natural world using the time-tested scientific method of repeated experimentation and validation. By comparison, Scientism is a speculative, metaphysical worldview about the nature and reality of the universe and man's relation to it.Scientism refutes traditional religious views, morals and philosophy and instead looks to science as the source for personal and societal moral value. The relationship between Technocracy and Transhumanism can be seen as early as 1933 when Harold Loeb wrote Life in a Technocracy: What It Might Be Like:“Technocracy envisages another form of domestication, a form in which man may become more than man… Technocracy is designed to develop the so-called higher faculties in every man and not to make each man resigned to the lot into which he may be born… Through breeding with specific individuals for specific purposes… A technocracy, then, should in time produce a race of men superior in quality to any now known on earth…”Thus, Loeb saw Technocracy (the society) as producing a superior quality of man by applying advanced technology to the human condition.Follow Patrick Wood at Technocracy News & Trendshttps://www.technocracy.news/the-evil-twins-of-transhumanism-and-technocracy/See Video & Follow us on Rumble:  https://rumble.com/vxuwf1-the-twisted-twins-of-global-domination-of-technocracy-and-transhumanism.html

For my wife's birthday I bought her a beautiful fridge freezer. I know it isn't much, but you should have seen her face light up when she opened it.*In the real world, the humble fridge is a purely functional home appliance which transfers its internal heat to its external environment; cooling its interior in order to lower the reproduction rate of bacteria thereby maintaining the optimal temperature range for preservation of perishable food. In Hollywood however, a refrigerator may be a portal to hell, a gateway to another dimension, a fighters training camp or even a temporary nuclear bomb shelter. Thankfully we're (mostly) talking movies here at Bad Dads so we're sparing you any discussion we might have had about this utilitarian white good in favour of discussing the Top 5 Movie Fridges. Our main feature tells a story as old as time itself, that of a talented and penniless surgical student, who when applying for a job in a strip club instead finds herself drawn into the fascinating and unusual world of extreme body modification before enacting a terrible revenge on the man who wronged her. Yes we've heard it all before but the Canadian twins Jen and Sylvia Soska (a.k.a. The Twisted Twins) bring a much needed feminine voice to the horror genre with their 2012 crime-revenge-thriller American Mary.Far less wholesome is this weeks kids show, Blue Peter. From defecating pachyderms, subtle Marxist political messaging and cocaine-fuelled presenters through to more virtuous subjects such as viewer submitted art work and the besting of challenges thrust upon the eager presenters, this hotbed of depravity and staple of British children's television for more than 60 years has content that is wide ranging. We're desperate for human contact! So come join us on Twitter - @dads_film - on Facebook or via email to baddadsjsy@gmail.com.Until next time, we remain...Bad Dads*not my joke, I don't want to be done for copyright in-fridge-ment.

Another week on End Credits means another superhero movie. At least that's the way it seems sometimes, but this week it happens to be true with a review of Spider-Man: Far From Home. In other unsurprising developments, there's casting controversy for a Disney remake, and Tarantino's talking about retirement again. We've got some new trailers too, and we're going to celebrate two-and-a-half decades of Gump!  This Wednesday, July 10, at 2 pm, Adam A. Donaldson and Peter Salmon will discuss: Open Seas-on. Disney announced that they've found their live-action Little Mermaid, and she's a young actress named Halle Bailey. While she's undoubtedly talented, and is an experienced singer/songwriter, the one thing she's not is a Caucasian redhead, which has, predictably, brought out racist trolls online. Why are so many people so mad about who plays a mermaid? Quentirement Plan. It's been known for years that Quentin Tarantino was going to retire after 10 movies, but might he retire sooner? Technically, since Kill Bill was released as two movies, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood would be Tarantino's 10th film, but let's ask the real question: Isn't it just time for Tarantino to s**t or get off the pot with all this retirement talk? Rabid Knives Out the Next Level. This week in new trailers, there's a lot to get excited about. The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson goes back to basics with the whodunit Knives Out, while the Twisted Twins remake one of their inspirations with the update Cronenberg classic Rabid. In the meantime, there's a new Jumanji coming out because of money reasons. Gump Up the Volume. This week marks 25 years since the release of Forrest Gump, the Academy Award winner for Best Picture in 1994. It seems timely for a re-examination of the film, so is it a harmless stroll through Americana in the mid-20th century, or is it an overwrought tale of a white guy winning while everyone around him struggles? REVIEW: Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). Fresh from a five-year break in existential nothingness following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man is ready for a vacation, but Nick Fury has other plans. This latest Spider-adventure is a chance to catch up and reset from the world-shattering consequences of Endgame, but you can't catch your breath too long because your friendly neighbourhood hero from Queens has new bad guys to stop! End Credits is on CFRU 93.3 fm and cfru.ca Wednesday at 2 pm.

We console ourselves though with some demo-dogs and the less-well-known Twisted Twins, which are actually pretty progressive for a couple mid-90s security guards - good for you, Twin Cenobites! Strap in for one hell of an afterburner with your favorite masters of pain on another episode of Horror Movie Night! This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

Alix's birthday month is here, and The Horrorble People's Podcast is celebrating with a film that's equal parts ambitious, gruesome, and badass: 2012's AMERICAN MARY from the Soska Sisters! The team looks at the career of the Twisted Twins, and how their film "Dead Hooker in a Trunk" earned them an opportunity to rush the script that would become their major breakthrough. Anthony and Alix break down the story as it unfolds, taking a look at the representations of the body modification community, and the badassery of Katharine Isabelle. It isn't for the squeamish (so, Anthony) but you guys should be prepared for that by now, and it's only the beginning of a big birthday extravaganza (of death)! As always: Like, subscribe, don't be afraid to express yourself - probably with 5 stars or something. Classic Horror 2 by Kevin MacLeodLicensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License

About six months ago Gigi Saul Guerrero, Luke Bramley and Raynor Shima from LuchaGore Productions came to the League to chat with J.J and Troy about their Kickstarter campaign they were in the midst of. That Kickstarter was for El Gigante, which not only met it's goal of five thousand dollars, but exceeded it by more than double. So, needless to say a lot has happened since we last talked to them. After they showed us this amazing film, The Stevil Dead sat down with the LuchaGore team about it's creation. They filled us in on great production stories about things like the five day construction of the wrestling ring in a sweaty studio space, their first time using a stunt coordinator and even giving on set character developments. Given the opportunity to check out the final product, it was very cool to get an inside chat about  their beloved cast and crew, their post production and incredible, atmospheric sound design. Now, with El Gigante doing the festival circuit and getting notice by Vancouver horror icons like the Twisted Twins and Luchagore still participating in competitions like the 72 hour Phrike Festival, this closely knit team of imaginative individuals movie to make this film a full length feature with their screenwriter, and writer of the source novel, Shane McKenzie. Our guess is the next time we have them in we will see them moving forward with into their first feature film.

“Twisted Twins” Jen and Sylvia Soska are back with their stunning follow-up to the indie hit DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK. Eli Roth and Clive Barker are huge fans of the Canadian twins, who are the "Next Big Thing in Horror."AMERICAN MARY is the story of a medical student named Mary who grows broke and disenchanted with medical school and the established doctors she once idolized. The allure of easy money sends a desperate Mary through the messy world of underground surgeries, which leaves more marks on her than the so-called freakish clientele. Appearances are everything. AMERICAN MARY is available on VOD and will be in theaters on May 31st. The Soska sisters have always loved film. Since childhood, they have been heavily involved in acting, with a special place in their twisted little hearts for horror. They trained in martial arts, and attended a film school that included an intensive stunt program. For one of their final film projects, they prepared to do a short film only to have their funding for the project pulled. Undeterred, they went ahead with the project on their own assembling cast and crew, doing production on their own time, and paying for it out of their own pockets. They decided to make their short film a fake trailer, in the trend of Rodriguez and Tarantino's GRINDHOUSE, which, at the time, was in theaters. The school had a list of things too inappropriate to be included and they made sure to include everything on that list and then some. The title of that trailer was DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK, which went on to become their debut film - they wrote, directed, produced, starred in, and performed the stunts.
