Tony from Hack the Movies drops by to preach the gospel of Road House! Doug and Jamie may not be completely convinced though. Catapulting Commissions with Anthony Garcia
76 - Increasing Sales Revenue Through Optimization w/ Doug Brown

Catapulting Commissions with Anthony Garcia

Today’s guest is going to help address a challenge many sales professionals face: increasing sales, but they’re lacking something. Joining Anthony this week is Doug Brown. Doug is America’s number one expert in revenue expansion and sales optimization, and works with businesses of every size, helping them generate over 500 million dollars in sales. He’s breaking down his process and secrets for us on the Catapulting Commissions Podcast.    When you’re looking to improve your business’s revenue (as most entrepreneurs and sales professionals are) Doug reminds us to take a close look at your ‘truthful mission’ -- a mission you can measure. Then, get clear on the realistic setting and timeframe for hitting those goals. Once you’ve set the foundation, look at what you have, what you’re missing, and what your blind spots are. Make an assessment and build a growth plan that makes sense and is achievable for your business. Gain clarity upfront to set expectations and grow.    There are lots of challenges that can creep up in your blind spot. There are about 10 facets to growing sales revenue, but what happens is people focus myopically on one or two aspects. For example, if you’re too focused on attaining new clients, you may be ignoring the buying frequency of your existing base. It could be follow-up, prospecting, or any number of things. The point is, there are usually areas that aren’t getting the attention they need for you to hit your goals. Many companies pick the low-hanging fruit and ignore the others. Assess the people, skills, and system behind it and optimize.    When companies come to Doug, there are different processes that could undergo, or it could be multiple. In fact, it’s a formula more than a process. When you’re baking a cake, you look at the ingredients you have and identify what ingredients you’re missing, or maybe you have too many ingredients--sales are the same way. There are often places where businesses get stuck--that’s the blind spot. When you can close those gaps, you increase revenue.    During the implementation of the strategy, there are moments where you need to bring in new talent and opportunities to cultivate existing team members--it all depends on the situation. Doug uses sales-specific assessments to determine the sales DNA of the salesperson. Sometimes, that can reveal that people are in the wrong position, sometimes it’s getting rid of someone or multiple people who are disruptive to the growth of your organization. When you’re hiring, you have to make sure you can handle a team of top producers. Everyone wants the A-player, but not everyone is an A-caliber company.    A-players are always A-players for a reason. It isn’t like they are going to object at every opportunity, it depends on their goal. Every company needs to be clear on what role that A-player fills. Is it to win back clients? Blaze a new train? Start an independent agency? Define what you’re looking for before you look. These A-players are going to expect that the delivery will be exactly what they’re told. Every A-player has a recruiting score that measures their metrics against their peers. Once you have the persona, it’s about finding where they are. Organizations, clubs, and groups of networks are good places to find highly competitive players. One of the biggest mistakes companies make is being in too much of a rush and not working with a process that is measurable. You’re better off taking 5 months to find the right person than hiring 2 people in 3 months and having both burn out. Don’t hire because you like them, hire who can do the job.    Tune in to hear Doug talk about his philosophy on sales. For Doug, “the root of all objections is fear.”   LINKS   https://businesssuccessfactors.com/   http://winwinsellingbook.com/   Email Doug to self-assess: doug@businesssucessfactors.com and ask for the checklist!   DougBrown1234 on LinkedIn

The Real Estate Podcast has come a long way since the first episode and now it’s already in its 50th! In this episode, Jimmy Burgess talks about the top takeaways from the first 50 episodes of this podcast. Tune in and learn more!  The Top Takeaways Chris Stuart, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, Episode 3 Most times, agents are too busy looking for resources and other lead generation tools but in truth, that’s not what people want to see.  Prospects and clients want to see you, the real estate agents. They want to see the commitment and how you go beyond in providing extraordinary services to them.  Your ability to provide value to your clients is the greatest resource you have at your disposal.  Grier Allen, CEO and Founder of BoomTown,  Episode 11 While the speed of lead is important, it’s also critical to give the leads a little bit more time on the website.  A prospect who registered on the website and a person who inquired about a property on the website are two different things.  For people who registered, the ideal time frame for calling the leads is between six to nine minutes.  For those who are asking about a property, speed is the key, so reach out to them within a two-minute time frame.  Heidi Harris, Episode 41 Heidi Harris reached out to people by sending them referral letters. She got a phone call from one of the people she wrote a letter to in the past. Tony, the man she sent a referral letter to, called and asked her if she could help his friend look for a house.  Needless to say, she went out and offered her service and she was able to close the deal two weeks after.  Craig Duran, Episode 5 The basics of lead generation involve the following: lead generation, lead capture, and lead conversion.  Knowing the basics of lead generation helps you find a way to capture the leads and be able to convert them into business.  Price Rainer, Episode 21 The key to evaluating what neighborhood you should farm is the numbers. You need to look for a community without a dominant listing agent.  Price Rainer calls it a fragmented market where there are several players with a little bit of market share each. Look for a neighborhood with enough homes where you can compete and win.  Molly Slagle, Episode 43 Molly Slagle used her previous connections and that includes all those people who sold her various items in the past such as leggings, salon services, and other things.  She went to Facebook and messaged them one by one and told them how glad she was to support their business in the past. Then she told them that she’s now in the real estate business and said that if they know someone who is looking to buy or sell a home, she’s the girl to call.  Sarah Davidson, Episode 25 Sarah Davidson has a list of the top 10 people who are going to buy in the next three months, and the top 10 people who are going to buy in the next six months.  She then focuses her attention on them and reaches out to them whenever a new property comes up.  She pays attention to the people she’s engaged with and works to add value to them.  Brad Dahler, Episode 23 For Brad Dahler, he thinks of everyone as potential buyers and leads.  It’s his way of growing his database.  Glenda Baker, Episode 17 For Glenda Baker, nothing accelerates credibility faster than proof.  Being able to show someone how you’re going to do it and that you have done it repeatedly before is an effective approach.  Todd Crockett, Episode 15 Todd Crocket uses pop-up parties on the properties to show people the house and let them get a feel of the home.  It’s also a great way to network and socialize with other potential buyers and other agents in the market.  Kristyn Nelson, Episode 2 Kristyn Nelson writes seven things on her to-do list. She numbers them according to priority. It’s been a good strategy to ensure that she remains effective even when she’s working from home.  Karin Carr, Episodes 37 YouTube is an effective platform because it is a research tool and is owned by the biggest web search engine, Google.  People don’t go to Facebook or Instagram when they’re looking for new homes; they go to Google and Google suggests YouTube videos as part of the search results.  Chris Jones, Episode 27 The top mistakes that sales agents make are: not keeping a daily calendar and not knowing how to win.  Without a calendar, you won’t be able to know your schedule and what you need to do.  Without the ability to know how to win, you won’t be able to determine how to get in front of people, talk to them, and bridge the gap between you and the buyers.  Chip Collins, Episode 33 Chip and his team do two annual drives - a food drive before Thanksgiving and a toy drive before Christmas.  They started in non-gated communities where there were no restrictions and neighborhoods where their team members live. They also staple out flyers in the big boxes and they go by foot and put the flyers outside of mailboxes all the way down the street.  The flyers have the information on their food drive, the schedules, and when they’re coming into the neighborhood to pick up the bags. There are a lot of opportunities to connect with other people in the whole process. It’s a great team-building activity as well.  Neal Schaffer, Episode 35 Creating content is about being active on social media, offering value, and building up a great network.  The goal is to become the go-to person in your community. When you put yourself out there and you give value to other people, things come your way.  Mario Mitchell, Episode 1 Mario’s clients look forward to their annual review. They send their clients an annual review of their homes every year in order to stay connected with their previous buyers.  Doug Edrington, Episode 9 Doug Edrington and Jimmy talked about where he’d be interested in investing money today. For Doug, he would invest it in himself to attend events. Because investing in yourself in making yourself better in the field means that nobody can take away whatever you’ve learned.  Sometimes, it only takes one idea in an event to change the trajectory of the business.  Zach Sikes, Episode 13 It’s important to have a sphere of influence. It can be your past clients in the community. This will serve as the database of your business. They are your referrals and most of your sellers will come from that sphere of influence.  Brad Nix, Episode 48 There are four things that matter most to sellers: time, money, convenience, and certainty.  Brad Nix taught his agents to ask what matters most to sellers and then they’d craft their offers depending on which of the four matters most to the sellers they’re talking to.  If they say that money matters most, then the offer would include an escalation clause. There’s an appraisal gap guarantee to make sure that the money is going to come above the appraised value.  If they say time then the offer includes having the freedom to choose the closing date. It’s going to include flexible clauses.  If they say convenience, they won’t ask for any repairs. There may be a diligence period but they will be willing to take the property as it stands.  If they say certainty then the offer means that they remove the financial contingencies, remove the appraisal contingencies, and other things. They make sure that the property the buyer is going to close is certain.  “Top Takeaways from the First 50 Episodes (Must Listen Episode!)” episode resources Connect with Jimmy Burgess on LinkedIn and Facebook, as well as his YouTube channel.   If you like what you heard today, we’d love it if you’d share a rating or review, and then subscribe to the podcast and tell others about it as well. Episode: 131 Rich Carey and Doug Nordman Join your hosts, David Pere and Alex Felice, with guests Doug Nordman and Rich Cary as they talk about investing and asset allocations during the pandemic. While in the military, Rich paid off $230k for a mortgage. Now, he's acquired a fourplex and six-plex during the pandemic as an addition to his properties. Later, Doug shares a story on getting a 529 account for a granddaughter and explains what it teaches about picking an asset allocation that one can live with personally. For Doug, everything flows, first and foremost, out of figuring out what one can tolerate in an asset allocation. In this episode, listen as they also throw in their two cents on scaling and managing properties and what they hold as personal opinions on what 'sure money' truly is, especially for service members. About Doug Nordman and Rich Cary: Retired at age 41 after 20 years with the U.S. Navy's submarine force, today Doug Nordman is an enthusiastic surfer, an omnivorous reader, a martial arts student, and a veteran of many chaotic home-improvement projects. With his retired Navy Reserve spouse, they raised their daughter in Hawaii. Rich believes that conservative investing is superior to aggressive tactics. He's been successful with conservative index fund real estate investing. Rich currently owns 30 units, with 20 single-family homes paid off. He has served 20 years as a Special Agent in the Air Force (similar to NCIS). After retiring from the United States Air Force, he is now living in Montgomery, Alabama, where all of his properties are located. - Sponsor: The War Room Real Estate Mastermind Group: Email wrmastermind@gmail.com to apply! Reconstructing Healthcare: Innovative Solutions For Employers To Lower Their Healthcare Costs

In this episode, Michael introduces Doug Aldeen, a healthcare and ERISA attorney. He has represented reference-based pricing organizations, PPO networks, medium to small self-funded plans, TPA’s and provider sponsored HMO’s in various capacities.  Doug started his career at an insurance defense firm, then worked at a local HMO for years. It was there that he learned the ins-and-outs of the healthcare industry and realized that “discounts” aren’t real, but the prevalence and unsustainability of cost-shifting very much are. He found that in many cases there’s no correlation between what hospitals charge and their cost, and “turbo-charging”—where hospitals raise billed charges at unreasonable rates—is common in commercial insurance yet illegal in the Medicare world. Doug has seen “turbo-charging” of 12-24x, and 30x pricing on prescriptions and implants.  Surprisingly, employers are often completely unaware of what’s going on under the hood of their healthcare plan. They’re left in the dark because of limited access to data, billing statements without itemized, line-item costs, and “Revenue Neutrality Agreements” that sometimes allow providers to be paid more than they bill. Doug believes commercial insurance plans serve as an ATM for hospitals at the employers and patients expense, all because no one is monitoring, auditing, and demanding to see what’s getting billed, what’s getting paid, and why. And with the employer fiduciary duty under ERISA, this could be a costly oversight for employers that may lead to lawsuits in the future.  Doug works primarily with employers who have self-funded plans and reference-based pricing plans. He develops direct contracts with Hospitals and Providers on behalf of employers and their employees. For Doug, a successful agreement with a provider should be simple; only clean claims are paid, all claims are auditable, price is reasonable and there is a benefit incentive for employees to receive care at the facility.  More importantly, a safe harbor has been created where the employee can receive care without having to worry about balance bills which are not allowed under the contract. With his day to day work and advisory position at RIP Medical Debt, Doug is making a positive impact in the healthcare industry and we’re excited to see him keep up the good work.  Here’s a glance at what we discuss in this episode:  00:30 - Introducing Doug, a healthcare and ERISA attorney who helps employers and payers offer affordable healthcare to employees and dependents.  02:12 - He’s been a lawyer for 28 years; he worked in an insurance defense firm doing dram shop cases in 1997 and ended up at a local HMO for 7 years. 03:30 - The most fundamental flaw in the industry: discounts aren’t real, overpaying, and cost shifting in the commercial market are unsustainable.  05:45 - There’s no relation between what they are charging and their cost; we need honest conversations and common middle ground.  06:30 - Hospital “turbo-charging”: Hospitals charge X and insurance companies match it with the premium; it’s “chumminess” between providers and insurance carriers.  08:35 - Turbo-charging is expressly illegal in the Medicare-world but not the same in the commercial world; you can see this anywhere from 12-24x. 09:30 - He’s seen 30x pricing on Rx and implants; CFOs need preservation of P&L and need to get motivated to understand how this all works.  11:00 - Turbo-charging is illegal with Medicare; we can’t vilify healthcare providers, it’s not them. 12:40 - Data ownership: Cigna owns the data and allows you to access it on a limited basis; the data should be a part of the plan; you should be able to see bill charges. 14:10 - Anthem has a “Revenue Neutrality Agreement” executed on the side with the hospital system - they found 30% of claims were paid more than the billed charges.  16:05 - Employers don’t know if they’re getting what they’re...

Where Sellers Get Stuck   Sometimes sellers get stuck but where exactly do they get stuck?   Umar Hameed was previously working in Silicon Valley where he worked for high-tech launching companies from Asia, Europe, and the Valley into the U.S. market. He noticed that there were employees in the company who were rockstars in the sales department. Others, however, would invest in training, motivation, coaching, and incentives where they'd only improve a little bit. Still others would improve a lot but for only a short amount of time. Umar saw how the problem wasn't in the sales training, process, or strategy. The problem was with the people and their mindset.   Umar's work entails looking for ways to give salespeople an owner's manual for their mindset in order to change their world.   Getting the team together  This can be applied to the sales team and the whole organization. It's imperative to change the mindset of individuals because that's how you shift the entire company and improve its trajectory. Consider: How you can win How you can beat the competition How you can support each other   Changing the mindset of the organization can produce a work environment where everyone is enthusiastic and passionate. This, in turn, will boost the morale of your sales team and increase their speed.    The author of the comic strip called Pogo wrote this quote: We have met the enemy and the enemy is us. Oftentimes you may think that the enemy is the economy or the competition. The truth is, how you feel about yourself at a subconscious level determines how well you do. The only way to truly improve is to change the mindset. Umar's job is to give people the tools to do just that.    Getting unstuck  Umar had a client, Paul, when he first started his career in the mindset space. Paul was a sales rep from the east coast who had been hitting way above the quota but he still approached Umar for coaching an area he was lacking confidence:  asking for referrals. The sales rep was an excellent closer but always hit a block when it came to asking his client for the referral. Umar asked Paul to tell him about a time when he asked for a referral badly. Umar says when a client goes back to these memories, the body will offer clues to what happened. As Paul went back to that moment, Umar asked him what he felt at that moment.  Paul answered that he felt weird. It was an uncomfortable feeling. Paul then remembered a time when he was a child his father had a friend over. Paul overheard his father tell this friend that real men don't ask for help. Paul's hero was his father so little Paul took that statement to heart. As a sales rep, Paul was subconsciously remembering that statement when he thought of asking for a referral.  His mindset considered it asking for help and Paul's subconscious was reminding him of his father's words. Once Paul realized that, he was able to change his mindset and has been able to ask for referrals comfortably.    Changing your core belief  You have to let go of the core beliefs instilled in your brain that keep you from becoming more successful.    After training, you may change for a week but you'll revert to old habits if you don't address the underlying belief that's keeping you from changing your mindset. You want to be able to show up to your meetings with the consistent confidence that comes from permanent and sustainable change.     Many people have a variety of skill sets but there tends to be a tendency to focus on their weaker areas. It keeps them from realizing their strengths and stepping out as their best selves. When you can get to the core reasons why these weaknesses turn up, they can be addressed and conquered.    If you don't address the underlying negative belief systems, you'll revert back to those old behaviors and still be stuck. #SalesGoals   Launching the NeuroBoosterz App Umar has been helping people find their true potential by providing them with the necessary tools in his app, NeuroBoosterz. He has created audio tracks that use applied neuroscience to take his clients through a thought process that improves their subconscious outlook. It helps people change their mindset exactly when they need it to help them show up as stronger and more powerful individuals in whatever situation needs a boost of confidence.   The app comes in several categories including:  Sales Mindset Confidence and Motivation Life's Ups and Downs Health and Wellness Transformation Sleep and Relaxation   A free sample on his app is called Mind Movie. When a person goes to a sales meeting, Umar asks them how confident they are that they're going to do great in their appointment. The Mind Movie will get you to really think about what you want to accomplish in your next meeting. It will get you to think at a much higher level and see how you can improve what you're about to do.    NeuroBoosterz is grounded in a science that helps you learn a technique to take charge of your mind.    Sales Success Story with NeuroBoosterz Doug Miller was a successful salesman when he found Umar.. He had a problem waking up consistently for his morning run.  It was a problem because Doug realized his sales day were better on the days he ran. They got together for a 15-minute phone consultation to make a personalized neuro boost. For Doug, Umar framed it around a moral imperative. Umar used a mental pattern and created a six and a half minute track that Doug could listen to. Now Doug wakes up at 4:45 and runs by 5 AM. As a result, Doug's sales days are better and his stats have improved dramatically.    Another benefit of the NeuroBoosterz app is it can help families connect better at home. There's a tendency for parents to be so stressed and overwhelmed with their work that even when they're home, they're not mentally checked in with the kids. Under the category, Life's Ups and Downs, Umar has a track that parents can listen to in the driveway to alleviate the stress they've brought home from work. Once they've decompressed, they're able to  go join their families with a better attitude and be more available.    Change for the better  We all have the ability to change our mindset. Tools like NeuroBoosterz can empower you to do that.    “Where Sellers Get Stuck” episode resources Visit the site of NeuroBoosterz and sign up. The app is only for $12.99/month and $99.99/year. This episode is focused on Dougys river and his life growing up as a only child in the upper middle class suburbs. He tells us how hard it was growing up with a speech impediment, being ugly, kinda fat, shy and socially awkward. The real point of doing the My Life As A River exercise is to re-open some of those doors we shut from out past. Both negative and positive instances. For Doug it was re-opening the doors that contained his drug addiction demons and his insecurities. Its not good to live in the past but its okay to revisit the person we use to be every now and then. Reflect and go back in time to your rock bottom low moments in life and face them with the brain you have today. Do the same with the positive moments in your life. It made Dougy realized that sometimes we don't get the full closure we need until we gain the wisdom or experience to do so. This episode was streamed live on: www.youtube.com/douglife

The City of Dublin, Ohio, USA, is a city of 50,000 residents. Under the leadership of its Chief Information Officer, Doug McCollough it has been one of the first to launch a publicly owned fibre optic networks and also a digital identity project built on the blockchain. Join us in this exciting podcast to hear how Doug is ensuring that the City of Dublin not only doesn’t get disrupted but is also at the vanguard of innovation. Dublin is a small city, really a suburb on the northwest corner of Columbus, Ohio. Dough really loves municipalities and is into smart cities, smart mobility, blockchain and all kinds of emerging technology and how they can help public sector organisations.   What is blockchain? Blockchain is a technology, infrastructure or innovation that combines existing technologies like databases, peer to peer networks, encryption, distributed computing algorithms, to form a different way of distributing compute, data storage and data security. In its most basic form, it works by recording pieces of data into blocks that exist with a chain. The chain becomes more resilient every time new blocks are added to it. For Doug the most important thing to him is that as an infrastructure it is superior to other databases, networks, or distributed computing models. Especially for data transactions. It tracks what happened, when, where and with whom.     City of Dublin, Ohio, USA The City of Dublin, Ohio, USA, is a small community of 50,000. In spite of it’s size the city has a Chief Information Officer, a role which is usually reserved for very large cities like Boston, New York or Los Angeles. Most cities have an IT director whose job is to keep the technology running, not necessarily to envision what’s new and what’s new. A few years ago, under Doug’s leadership, the City of Dublin started its path towards innovation by developing one of the first publicly owned fibre optic networks, called Dublink Broadband. Since then the city has earned a reputation of being techno centric as it embraces utilising technology to advance its economic development interests. The city has the Global Institute for the Study of the Intelligent Community. The institute was established to help share what the City of Dublin has learned about intelligent communities and smart city development, and share those lessons with other communities. They aim to be a kind of conduit and light in showing how communities can use technology to improve the lives of their citizens.   Cities being disrupted Today cities around the world are facing an unprecedent amount of challenges: There’s a declining and degrading trust in government which extends to cities Cities’ residents are increasingly concerned by a dangerous data privacy environment which can have a negative impact on cities and public transactions Budgetary constraints along with innovation around automation and bots have led to government bodies letting go of staff which in turn disrupts the service models that service people Another core challenge is that cities themselves run the risk of being disrupted by digital native companies. If cities do not innovate they will be disrupted like any other business. Google Waze and Google Maps are more often used for information on which roads to travel on instead of government. Government isn’t effectively in control anymore for telling people where to drive or in restricting roads. That’s a disruption. The work undertaken by smart cities is very much centred around transportation. The very nature of transportation, the roads, the traffic lights, how fast people go, a lot of that is being moved into technology vendors. If you look at the technology that's going into connected vehicles it is from those same technology vendors. When these vendors get better at directing people, traffic, and at keeping them safer than governments are, then governments may stop doing it.

Throughout the last few decades, the amount of data that has accumulated on the internet and in our systems has grown by orders of magnitude. Most believe that much of this data is useless. Logs, miscellaneous accounts and lines of code were just floating in the ether, and to many people, that was just fine. But Doug Merritt was not one of those people. Doug is the CEO of Splunk, which is helping people and companies turn “dark data” into usable, measurable analytical tools that can push a business forward. It’s not all business, though. For Doug, the story of data is more than just what Splunk is doing for businesses. In today’s society, the population is giving access to all kinds of data to various companies and third parties, which then go and sell our data to others for profit. Doug believes that we can democratize all of this data and create an economic good that will benefit all people. Plus, by analyzing big data and partnering with others doing the same, problems like human trafficking are being addressed in a way that’s never been done before. And it’s actually been successful. “Over a three-year time period, using Splunk and a host of other technologies, Global Emancipation Network has been able to make a significant dent in both identifying victims of human trafficking and the perpetrators. It is starting to actually turn the tide in a positive direction just by being curious enough to begin to ask questions of what would it take to solve a problem like this?” On this episode, Doug and Chad dive deeper into how that was possible, plus they discuss the ways data can be used to solve all manner of problems, and how we might prepare for a future where data is the key to everything. — Mission Daily and all of our podcasts are created with love by our team at Mission.org. But his life was changed when control of the estate and the business was divided among the brothers. Tension and distrust grew and lawsuits followed.“Intra-family lawsuits are like gasoline on the fire,” Doug said, blaming himself for filing the first one. “After that first lawsuit was filed, we were never able to make any decent decisions.”Having lived through the turmoil, Doug Box is more than qualified to work as a family business advisor helping them understand why it’s important to think harder and smarter about preserving the family wealth.

Thanks for tuning in. Seahawks- Seahawks lose 2 legends... Doug Baldwin and Kam Chancellor both released. These are the poster boys for what I think Seahawks football should be about. Part of that to me is not about football. These 2 just show what it is to be a great man, a great leader and at the same time a great NFL player. They will be missed immensely but I look forward to seeing what they do going forward off the field. There have been some great tributes to these guys tweeted out the last week or so and I just want to thank both those guys for the service and joy they have brought the city and the fans of the Seahawks. Put them both in the Ring of Honor ASAP. There is no replacing these 2 for the Hawks but they are doing what they can... including Signing Ziggy Ansah DE 1yr/ 8 million with incentives to 12million. Signed DT All Woods. - run stopping guy who played for hawks 2011. Sort of a dead time now for a little while however still some signings that could happen. For me. Bucs Gerald McCoy if he is released and possibly Eric berry ( although that's a long shot at best) Mariners- 20-23 6gb in AL West. Last 10. 2-8 Slide back to earth continues Lost 12 of 14 and outscored 103-48 during that time. Including 34-8 in this Boston series. This is much closer to where I expected them to be at the beginning of the year. Its completely okay with me as we are building for the future. Keep building some of these veterans up for trade chips and building these young guys for the future. Felix may be done with the Mariners after IL stint. Struggled the last couple starts and ERA is 6.52 in 38.2 innings just looks like he might need to sit or change of scenery. Ups Brennan still pitching good. 2.11 ERA and .178 average against. Kikuchi- pitched lights out last 2 starts. At least 7 kings and 1 run in both. D. Santana- .409 in last 7 games 2 hr. 6 rbis. Narvaez - .412 last 5 games. Downs Tim Beckham- .095 last 5 games Vogelbach- .136 0hrs. Last 6 games. Haniger-. 143 last 7 games and .200 in last 25 games. SWARsak- 21 era in 2 games this last week Felix- 15.95 ERA last 2 starts. 13 runs Teams stats. 1st in Errors with 43 23rd in team ERA , 27th average against. 16th in batting average, 1st in HR, RBIs, 4th in SBs, 14th OBP. So offense is still doing something but not as much and pitching is still the struggle. They called up J.P Crawford and Shed Long this week which is nice for more youth. OAK FOR 2 and Minnesota comes to TMobile park for 4. NBA Playoff- GSW beat the rockets in 6 without KD for the last 1.5 games. Portland moved past Denver in game 7 to reach western conference finals And on the other side MIL takes on Toronto in what should be a good matchup. Pass it to the homies- Favorite memories of Kam Chancellor and Doug Baldwin? For me both of these guys are similar in that one moment doesnt stand out for me. Both of these guys have a large collection of moments. For Doug the amazing and clutch catches and some of the motivational interviews and for Kam the hits the boom, and then for me the leadership of the D. And the pick 6 against the Panthers. The hits on the superbowl and against the 49ers earlier on. Again as always, thanks so much for listening and please let me know how I can improve this listening experience. Many people can name a specific reason why they became a Christian, but how many would say the reason is “math”? Probably very few, and Douglas Ell is one of them. Kevin talks to Doug about his recent book Counting to God, in which he explains how mathematical analysis of the scientific evidence over several decades finally persuaded him to change from atheism to Christianity. For Doug, it wasn’t moral arguments, spiritual feelings, or difficult life circumstances that brought him to God. He needed hard evidence, and that’s just what he found. Kevin and Doug discuss this evidence, from biology (the fact that so many organisms have completely unique and functional DNA code with no evolutionary history) to quantum mechanics (the existence of measurable, physical phenomena that defy the laws of physics) and beyond. They show that God isn’t just a last resort to cover gaps in scientific knowledge: there are irrefutable positive evidences why He is absolutely necessary to understanding life and the universe. After graduating from MIT with a double-major in mathematics and physics, Doug earned a Masters in Theoretical Mathematics before entering into field of law. His long and successful career practicing law, combined with his training in mathematics and science, have made him the ideal person to examine both the evidence and arguments for (and against) God. After repeatedly finding that the evidence points to God rather than away from him, Doug remarked to a colleague (Professor Peter Fisher, Head of MIT’s Department of Physics) that someone needed to write a book about this incredible information. His colleague responded, “Why not you?” The resultant work, Counting to God, is available at Doug’s website (CountingToGod.com) as well as from other booksellers. It is a great tool for strengthening the faith of believers, as well as prompting unbelievers to think deeply about their worldview and the questions it raises. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” –John 1:1 This episode first aired on March 19th, 2016.
