A Table at the Tan-O: Conversations About the World of General Hospital
Gia and Keisha had really hoped to be electrifying tonight. But it's possible they blew a fuse instead. Who is to blame? Gia? A little. Keisha? A fair amount. Global warming? Well, no one thinks straight when it's unseasonably hot and humid. The General Hospital writers? Absolutely positively. So, if the writers aren't even going to try to stay true to characters who have been part of the show for decades, how are Gia and Keisha supposed to stay on topic? Tracy is suddenly shutting down the part of herself that allowed for a little warmth, a little kindness. Sonny is suddenly shutting down the part of himself that allowed for a little warmth, a little kindness. Wait. What? Gia thinks maybe the newest batch of writers may be psychopaths. Interesting. But regardless of whether the writers are cold-blooded or just plain sloppy, Gia and Keisha had to find more satisfying things to talk about, so welcome to the world of watermelon, international coffee, succulents (yes, they're back), Ricky Gervais's After Life, Star Trek, ER (yes, it's back), Emmy winner Lamorne Morris of New Girl (Winston and his cat Furguson)and Fargo, and more (which is somehow less). They apologize once again, but also believe the GH writers owe them and all of the fans an apology. #mauricebenard #kellythiebaud #rogerhowarth #maurawest #steveburton #delirious #tshirtgiveaway #barshampoo #daydrinkingwithsethmeyers #hillstreetblues #kinshriner #saveava #nicholaschavez #savediane #afterlife #rickygervais #stonewallkitchen #hallandoates #superstore #freaksandgeeks #waitingonafriend #memyselfi #freefallin #alanarkin #newgirl #lamornemorris #whosgonnarideyourwildhorses #maneater #whippingpost #colonoscopy #takethenap #alleymills #billylibby #chickadee #fortgorgeous #robertgossett #daydrinkingwithsethandlizzo #marcuscoloma #useastaplegun #riptwitch #ripepiphany #ripsonyaeddy #waywardchickadee #barshampoo #ripmiffy #lovedogs #justinebateman #brookeshields #neilgaiman #dnice #cq #deborahcox #malcolmjamalwarner #lume #godzillaminusone #ripjacklynzeman #jasonmomoa #adambelanoff #thecloser #majorcrimes #wings #murphybrown #thecosbyshow #pinkalicious #ripbillymiller #ripmatthewperry #riptylerchristopher #ripandrebraugher #ripjohnnywactor

Pittsburgh Trombonist Reggie Watkins has always had a knack for music. He has come a long way from learning how to play the piano at six. Born and raised in West Virginia and spending years in Pittsburgh, Reggie was exposed to musical influences that would later turn him into an internationally-recognized performer, pianist, arranger, and composer. Leveraging his experience fronting a quarter on a cruise ship, he then served as trombonist and musical director for trumpeter and band leader Maynard Ferguson. From there he went on to tour and record with Jason Mraz from 2008 to 2013. He has shared the stage with many great artists from various genres including Aretha Franklin, Dave Matthews, Dianne Shuur, Jose Feliciano, Willie Nelson, Arturo Sandoval, Trombone Shorty, The Temptations, and the O'Jays. He is also a member of the Grammy-nominated Orrin Evans' Captain Black Big Band. He joins us in this episode to talk about his epiphany moment with jazz, his music education and influences, his early cruise ship gigs, his years touring with the Maynard Ferguson band and Jason Mraz, his practice routine, and the honor of playing at Aretha Franklin's funeral.

Fighting for justice on our plates goes beyond fighting for the rights of animals. Between the implications of the USDA dietary guidelines for people of color, the disparity in food access and education, and gentrification pushing low-income neighborhoods deeper into food deserts, we have to confront the food injustice faced by our human neighbors too. John Lewis, also known as the Badass Vegan, didn’t see a mango or fresh avocado until he moved from Furguson, Missouri to Miami to pursue his MBA. After his mother was diagnosed with cancer, he threw himself into research that revealed a troubling connection between animal protein and the illness. While he’s joined his love for health and fitness with his business savvy to create VeganSmart, a plant-based protein shake company, he’s also digging into the darker side of food. John has teamed up with Keegan Kuhn of What the Health and Cowspiracy to confront food racism through the lens of hip-hop and urban culture in the upcoming documentary, Hungry for Justice. He joins Dotsie and Alexandra in this episode to explore how communities are being left behind in the fight for health and wellness. You’ll hear how certain populations are being underserved and overlooked when it comes to autonomy over their health -- and what you can do to help. What we discuss in this episode: - Dotsie’s trip to Washington, D.C., where she spoke to encourage the USDA to remove dairy from the food pyramid - Are we confusing what’s normal with what’s right? How John’s perspective of food evolved between his move to Miami and meeting with the doctor who encouraged him to try vegetarianism - The diagnosis that rocked John’s world and challenged him to research lifestyle versus genetic diseases - John’s journey ditching dairy for good and how he’s encouraging others to make the switch - The impetus for creating Hungry for Justice, the documentary exploring food deserts, racism, and injustice through the lens of hip-hop and urban culture - Food racism and dairy: Racial disparities in our ability to digest cows’ milk, and why more people of color are “lactose normal” - Category Killers: How chain store giants are proliferating the effects of food injustice - Understanding the intersection between race and food, and why it’s so important for more privileged voices to speak up against food injustice - Follow John on Instagram at @badassvegan and on his website at BadAssVegan.com, or email him at John@BadAssVegan.com Connect with Switch4Good - YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQ2toqAmlQpwR1HDF_KKfGg - Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Switch4Good/ - Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/switch4good/ - Twitter: https://twitter.com/SwitchForGood - Website: switch4good.org

Henry Ferguson joins the podcast again...when you carry your bow for your senior picture, you must be serious about Archery. The fellas meant to talk about gear that stands the test of time but end up talking about stiff shafts, gluten free tacos, and plaid shirts. Henry runs a website called Not Fit To Hunt Henry (bigchiefwhackabuck) Furguson on Instagram Come along with us as we help other archers to become better, more efficient shooters and hunters. We'll be posting weekly YouTube videos, articles and tips that have helped us become consistently successful in the field and on the tournament line. As bowhunters we realize that there are much more efficient methods for taking big game, but the challenge and the extended seasons are what we live for. Working all year to prepare your bow, backpack and yourself to perform at your peak in the singular moments where our skills are put to the ultimate test is practically a full-time job! However, we both have actual full-time jobs and families. Couple that with being active in conservation organizations, church, Boy Scouts, coaching our kid’s sports teams and the time to hone those skills is hard to come by. But if matters enough to you, you will find a way. Topics will range from archery form, equipment setup and how to use it, to how we scout, hunt and pack out game after a successful hunt. Bringing hope to the lost and disenfranchised hunters who might be 100 sit-ups away from perfection, will be our goal. Looking like you were chiseled out of granite is not and never has been a prerequisite to being a successful hunter.

The museum encompasses many aspects of motorsports including drag racing, road racing, land speed racing, motorcycle racing, open-wheel cars, NASCAR, and hydroplanes. Lewis oversees the museums programs designed for students. They team up with high schools to teach children the fundamentals of automobiles by allowing them to work on cars. They earn high school and college credits and learn valuable hands-on experience. Lewis’ goal is to introduce the next generation to opportunities in the automotive industry.regon.
