Beat the censors, sign-up for our newsletter: https://firstfreedoms.ca/call_to_action_pages/stay_informed/ Professor Iain T. Benson, of the University of Notre Dame Australia (Sydney) is of the view that the way to protect freedom is to go local and resist globalism. Our understanding of what is right and wrong does not come from the state but from local communities. People, in Western countries, are often weak when it comes to pushing back against the government. Unfortunately, democratic governments are moving toward a globalist mindset that takes advantage of the "business as usual" model that turns a blind eye to the suffering others have to endure in maintaining the profits for the elites. Little concern is given for how countries like China are taking advantage of the poor to supply goods to the West. Klaus Schwab and his WEF program supports the global capitalism that is destroying the local communities. The "Great Reset" is a plan that attacks (a) the self-determination of people's life, liberty and direction; and, (b) does not speak out against the colonization of the poorer countries. Further, Dr. Benson argues, the West has become corrupt in failing to call these abuses for what they are. So, the question is, "Are we going to be governed locally or from the top down by the 'smug internationalists'?" Mr. Schwab, and his associates, are technicians, Benson says. They do not have objective moral positions but are moral relativists that support the 'business as usual' paradigm. Mr. Schwab's proteges, Prime Minister Trudeau, President Macron, Prime Minister Ardern, and others, are untrained in the philosophical understandings that have built our society. Their global moral relativism is inconsistent with the richest strands of international law and natural law. We are left with courts that are convinced by legal positive thought that whatever the government issues is law with no regard to the larger picture of our legal history and basic human rights. The courts have been 'singing from the same song sheet' by refusing to give credence to the fundamental freedoms that have been the foundation of our society. Judges had the power to respond to the over reaching state enforced lockdowns which caused huge personal costs, but they refused to exercise their oversight role on government. This failure has led to a loss of credibility in the courts, government and the professions such as medicine and law. The way forward, according to Benson, is to re-learn the lessons of civil-disobedience and seek legal reform that does not allow government to solely determine when it can use emergency powers. The onus must be on the state to prove with verifiable evidence that the state is in jeopardy and such power is warranted. An independent body must be set up to make the determination and it cannot be only judges or politicians or medical professionals. There must be a broad range of people with different expertise that would be tasked with the job. Our current systems failed us and we need new systems. The population must be awakened to the "free-born mind" again. The managerial state has failed us. We cannot afford to keep giving government deference especially when even more challenging times are upon us as government plans to issue digital currency and continue its electronic surveillance over the population. The local must be the focus not globalism. Please note the views expressed by the individual(s) in this video are their own, and do not necessarily reflect the views or principles of the First Freedoms Foundation.

Solar developers are well aware of the energy it takes to win the uphill, sometimes prolonged battle of project approval. Is education the answer? And which strategy works the best? Community engagement via telephone land line is a thing of the past; Dynamic Online Sampling on social media is the method of today. Tyler Duvelius is Director of External Affairs at Conservative Energy Network. Jon Carson is a lead solar developer with Trajectory Energy. Robin Pressman is Head of Embold Research. Mike Casey is the President of Tigercomm. Today on Clean Power Hour, we have a team of experts and advocates from diverse fields within the solar industry: Robin is conducting the research, Tyler is advocating on the ground in the communities long-term, and Jon and Mike are managing installs and slowly chipping away at getting solar into rural America. Life is so busy. We need to slow down and we want to know God, but sometimes we don't even know where to start. Our last podcast episode on the sustainability of using tropical ingredients in our cosmetics raised the issue of transparency in supply chains. In this Green Beauty Opinion, Formula Botanica CEO and podcast host Lorraine Dallmeier examines one solution to this lack of transparency; going local. Should indie formulators seek to source their ingredients as close to their homes and labs as possible? What implications and advantages are there in doing so? Is it more sustainable to go local than shipping ingredients across the world? Lorraine points out that supply chains are hard to unravel. We have very little information on an ingredient apart from its safety data sheet (SDS), which says nothing about sustainability apart from mentioning the toxicity of a material. We can't know for certain if any ingredient, local or not, is a sustainable option. For example, a particular seaweed ended up crossing country borders five times as it was shipped in and out during its processing into a cosmetic ingredient. Would it still qualify as a local and more sustainable ingredient? Going local in your sourcing of ingredients can however hold out hope for indie beauty formulators keen to be sustainable. Formula Botanica has always stressed indie formulators should build strong relations with reliable suppliers. If they are local, then you can have even greater chance of making this a success. With strong ties, comes a flow of information, insights and advantages, such as greater quality control and brand differentiation. Lorraine points to her podcast interviews with international beauty brand founders May Lindstrom, and Sarah Brown of Pai Skincare who both said that that keeping manufacturing in-house and using trusted, mostly local suppliers had given their brands an edge in quality and transparency. By going local you can also infuse your brand with your heritage and with personal meaning. Every little we can do to help drive sustainability in our formulations and brands is worth it. Going local may not be the complete answer, but by doing so, indie beauty can start to make a sustainable difference and avoid those murky supply chains.

Episode 67: Local GOODfood+wine Season 8 - 12/ 2021 Happy Holidays everyone! This month, we bring you a condensed version of Local GOODfood+wine, in honor of the busy-ness of this season and all its festivities. I have for you in Episode 67 of our podcast an interview with Luisa Ravoyard who is France's Communications Director for Too Good To Go. Is food waste something you think about during the holidays? It is for me! Because while so many go hungry during the holidays - a travesty especially egregious during the holiday season when bounty and abundance is seemingly rubbed in our faces constantly by the industrial advertising complex - tons of food, perfectly good, edible food, is in fact thrown out.
We've all heard the chant from local evangelists to buy local but sometimes we wonder why - isn't it just more expensive and less convenient? Well, when it comes to flowers it can help you create a more beautiful expression of your aesthetic. Meet Abby and Emily who are partners in their Asheville-based floral business, Wander Floral Design. Local flowers are fresh and "pop" more compared to flowers flown in from around the world. And of course, local flower farmers grow with the seasons so this will help you decide on which flowers to get - just see what they are usually growing during the time of year when you'll get married!Listen in to hear about how they make their partnership work - and why local flowers might be a good choice for your WNC wedding.https://wanderfloraldesign.com/

More than a Few Words is a marketing conversation for business owners hosted by Lorraine Ball, founder of the Digital Toolbox As a business owner, the most important thing is for people to be able to find you. More often than not, they're going to Google to look for you. Unfortunately, you're competing with companies that are much larger than you. But you have an advantage if you're a local business, That advantage is Google My Business because Google plays such a vital role at each touchpoint throughout the entire customer journey. Whether they are gathering information, considering alternatives or getting ready to buy, they are turning to Google. If your GMB page is there ready and waiting with just the right information, you will have a better shot at closing the sale. About John Vuong John Vuong is the owner and founder of Local SEO Search. He helps small and medium-sized businesses rank on Google and dominate their local market. John puts a strong emphasis on relationships and treats his client’s like family, wanting to not only help them rank but to help their business grow and succeed.
The young geeks revolutionising health data in France with Covidtracker. How the pandemic has boosted demand for home-grown flowers. And Charles Perrault, father of the fairy tale genre. Some ten million people a day visit Covidtracker, which takes the government's official Covid data and presents it in an engaging and easy-to-digest way. Set up a year ago by Guillaume Rozier, a young data wiz, 40 volunteers now keep the site running. Elias Orphelin (@eorphelin), a 22-year old marketing analyst, was one of the first to join Rozier in the adventure. He talks about helping his country by "making data speak" and how the independent, apolitical nature of their platform has boosted public trust in the vaccination campaign. (Listen @2'45'') The Covid pandemic is transforming the French flower business. While the vast majority of flowers sold in France are imported from Holland, the first lockdown shut down transit routes and forced florists to turn to French growers. They're now seeing a boom in demand which they're struggling to meet. Florist Johanna Cacciamani, who sells only French flowers at her shop Fioretti, has seen her business grow and thrive during the pandemic. We accompany her to the Rungis wholesale market to buy flowers from local growers. (Listen @17'10'') Charles Perrault wrote the classic version of many of the world's most famous fairy tales in his 1697 book Histoires ou contes du temps passé, Stories or tales of times gone by, sometimes known as Mother Goose tales. The father of the modern fairy tale, whose versions of Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella are still popular, died on 16 May 1703. (Listen @13'35'') This episode was mixed by Cecile Pompeani. John Waterbury of Princeton University talks about his latest book, Missions Impossible: Higher Education and Policymaking in the Arab World, with Marc Lynch on this week's podcast. The book seeks to explain the process of policymaking in higher education in the Arab world, a process that is shaped by the region’s politics of autocratic rule. (Starts at 33:42). Irene Weipert-Fenner of the Peace Research Institute of Frankfurt talks about her article, "Go local, go global: Studying popular protests in the MENA post-2011," published in Mediterranean Politics. (Starts at 0:59). Mariam Salehi of Berlin Social Science Center discusses her new article, "Trying Just Enough or Promising Too Much? The Problem-Capacity-Nexus in Tunisia’s Transitional Justice Process," published in the Journal of Intervention and Statebuilding. (Starts at 20:24). You hear this a lot in the internet age: “If you're not winning national, or even global clients, your agency is backward and hopeless…” What if that wasn't always right? Might it still be possible to run a profitable, highly-regarded agency without planes or long distance conference calls? There are pros and cons to focusing […]
Let's make the most of the quickly approaching Small Business Saturday. If you're based in the US, it's on Saturday, November 24th. And in the UK, it's on Saturday, December 1st. This is notoriously the day after the big brands do their big push on Black Friday and a chance for small business owners and solopreneurs to get a little piece of the action. Now, if all of this marketing talk gives you the hives, no problem. Just skip right past to another episode we've released recently. But if you're looking for a simple way to make a big splash in sales, I've got a few ideas for you... Simple tips to increase your sales Create a 24-hour offer A limited offer will entice people towards one of your top-selling products or services online. Could you run a 24-hour promotion of 25-50% off the price if purchased on Small Business Saturday? You could suggest: They gift it to their spouse or co-worker or friend They reserve their spot on your next course They could lock in this special rate for future use Remember, this offer is only for 24 hours, so they need to act fast if they want to save money or get the extra bonuses you provide. Make it easy to pay you! Do you have an online shopping cart on your website? Could you create a BUY NOW button using PayPal or Square? Can you sell your wares on Etsy or some other 3rd party network? The point is, make it super simple for people to buy your products and services. I had to buy airline tickets from a local travel agency recently and couldn't believe how TEDIOUS the process was. I just wanted to click on a link, enter in my credit card details and be done with it. It took 2 hours on customer service calls and 24 hours later, I got a confirmation email. Not ideal. Bottomline - people want to buy your stuff. Make it easy for them to give you money through safe, secure online payment options. Go big, go local Now more than ever, people are doing their holiday shopping online. Encourage your customers and clients to ‘Go Local' this year, rather than spending ALL their money on Amazon. Maybe shoot a short video reminding them that when you buy from local businesses, you're making a real difference to people's lives; putting food on the table, new shoes on children's feet, and helping a real, live entrepreneur in the community thrive. When you buy from big box retailers, sure those are humans too, but by the time they pay off their massive overhead and marketing budgets, the factory workers get a fraction of the reward. And—here's an idea—when someone buys local from you, give them a badge they can post on social media (similar to the ‘I Voted!' stickers). Help customers see this as something they can be proud of! Keep it simple Ok, I know what you're thinking… “Crap - I don't have time to pull this off!” Wrong. You do. Here's how: Create a graphic using one of Canva's pre-built templates Create the promo code in your online shopping cart Schedule a few posts in social media Maybe shoot a quick video (60 seconds, tops) on your phone with your elevator pitch and your offer Start telling the world! What have you got to lose? Show notes available with all LINKS mentioned here: https://thesimplifiers.com/podcast/bonus-037/
