Saved from Rejection and Fear (Audio) David Eells – 1/5/25 God loves you, rejected brethren, and He has a plan to set you free. Many millions of people are so wounded inside that they don't even want to examine the real cause of their pain. It's like they are saying, “Leave us alone and let us serve the Egyptians”. This is a self-preservation tactic of the demons who keep them in bondage. Christian, you are not wrestling with flesh and blood but principalities and powers and rulers of this darkness. The demons have deceived you into thinking men are your enemies so you will leave them alone and be a submissive host in their divide and conquer tactics. Their plan is to break up every family and fellowship so they can pick the lambs off one by one. When I speak on this subject, I know these spirits will speak to their hosts and say, “He is talking about you again” and they will feel that pain again. But we must get to the real problem and the real solution. So bear with me and a little pain and those of you who believe will be totally set free. Those of you who do not believe will destroy and be destroyed. You are a porcupine Christian. You are wounded and you wound everyone who gets close to you. When someone deals with you they have to be so careful or they will get stabbed. When someone tries to help you, it's like a man who finds a spiny cocklebur on his socks and tries to take it off and it sticks in his hand. He quickly tries to pull it out of his hand and it sticks in his other hand. I would like to share with you from my own painful experience with these demons and about God's solution. My own dad inherited a spirit of rejection from his dad and passed it on to me by association and by blood. When we were in darkness, we could not do anything about what we inherited through the gene pool but we can now. I loved my dad but to my mind I couldn't please him because he couldn't show any love or favor to me for “fear of rejection”, a companion spirit to “rejection”. He was a stern disciplinarian but he couldn't show any love with it. So I grew up with feelings of rejection, which were very painful. This spirit brings feelings of being unloved, unwanted, disliked, looked down on, incapability and loneliness, even in the midst of a crowd, etc. {Pro.18:14} The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; But a broken spirit who can bear? I was tormented with recurring thoughts from this spirit that I was rejected because of what my dad or some other person said or did to make light of me or criticize or correct me. Correction, although necessary and necessary for growth, is always seen and felt as painful rejection by one who has this spirit. This is a terrible trap because being angry at correction ultimately makes one a fool. This spirit blows minor correction or criticism all out of proportion to actuality with his lies and constant bringing of these things to memory. Some literally shake their heads when these painful thoughts come. This constant pain programs the host into a deadly spiral of other spirits of unforgiveness, frustration, hopelessness, depression, anger and retaliation, or it goes the other way to suicide. This is all unloaded on the person they FEEL is the culprit because the spirits make them feel that the problem is NEVER, NEVER them. Everyone else can know it's them but they refuse any blame for fear of more rejection. This is another self-defense mechanism of the demons in them. Some people go beyond fear to paranoia about what they perceive everyone is thinking and saying about them. When this perceived offence is unloaded on the perceived culprit, that person is at a loss for words, wondering what just happened and what is wrong with this person. Little do they know it is a coven of evil spirits warring with and through this host. The host is equally dismayed, wondering why this culprit does not understand they have offended him or her. And so two people are totally divided as the demons laugh at them. If a son feels rejected by his father, for instance, the demons can pull a switcheroo. The son will equate a father figure later in life with the rejection of his father and unload on him. And that father figure will wonder, “What in the world just happened?” A daughter FEELS rejected by her father and equates him with her husband many years later and unloads on him. And he wonders, “What just hit my family?” It is a vicious demonic cycle that never stops until families and churches have been destroyed and, ultimately, the host, too. As a young man, I didn't realize I was trying to ease the pain of rejection with alcohol and drugs. My dad was just like me. He tried to ease the pain with alcohol for a short time. After I became a Christian, I commanded this spirit of alcoholism out of him and it left immediately. He was thankful to God that He even cared about him enough to do this. Many people with drug, alcohol, sex, food, etc. problems need to be delivered of unforgiveness and rejection so they can get and stay delivered of these crutches and false comforts. Having my dad's fear of rejection made me close many out of my life for fear of being hurt, so I had no social relationship to people who were not like me. I built a spiritual wall around me for fear that if I let myself be known or love outwardly, I would be rejected. I became frustrated and angry with anyone's questions about my personal life, in order to help me because I felt they wouldn't like what they saw. I always desired and sought my dad's acceptance but never FELT I had it. So now I felt rejection, fear of rejection, frustration and anger about people who were much more normal than I and sometimes just wanted to help me. In my mind, I turned their attempts to find out my problems and help into attacks against me. These demons had me in a sullen, stand-offish trap that I would have died in, had I not come to the Lord and found out their lies. I learned of the sovereignty of God and learned to pity and forgive others as I wanted to be forgiven. I learned it was I who was deceived and not they. This delivered me from the wall I had built all around me with the demons' help. When I had these spirits, they made it painful for me to be around good people who could help me and they lied to me about them. They made me comfortable to be around people who had the same spirits that I did so I would never get deliverance through association and transference of demons with them. When I raised my own kids, some of whom also inherited rejection through the blood, I didn't like bringing them around my father because I saw that these spirits strengthened in them when they associated with these spirits in him. There was a transference of spirits through association. When they got away from him, this subsided. I raised my children as Christians but when they got out on their own some of them went their own way and became cold toward the Lord and began to manifest the same spirits inherited from both sides of our family. I have told them to forgive and they would be delivered and I know that they will be soon. The Lord has shown me that many of the ministers who have attacked me or our ministry have done so because they were infected with these spirits and are seeking a place God has not given them. Although not ordained by the Lord, they seek to be in the ministry for selfish, egotistical desires. It is easy to do nowadays; with the Internet, anyone can share knowledge that they have gained from others and before you know it, they have claimed a title and no one knows where they came from. These men don't just teach against bad doctrines and principles, they teach against individuals by name a lot, which is very seldom done in the New Testament. This was never done by Jesus, once by Paul and once by John. In these few cases, these men were causing great destruction to the local body because of their own ego and rebellion against the Lord. The reason these self-ordained or Babylon-ordained preachers pick out certain men to rail at is because, in a perverse way, this soothes their own ego that they are better than someone else and they are saying this very loudly. Why do they do this? Those who have rejection spirits many times desire and seek what they don't feel they are getting from others: acceptance, esteem, respect, even worship. This leads to much idolatry and submission to what the world expects of you. If they don't feel they get this respect from you because what you teach is against their wicked lifestyle, they will attack and belittle you to make them feel better about themselves and to make sure their followers won't hear you. This, of course, is a perverse way to gain esteem in their own eyes and in the eyes of others who are like them. Birds of a feather flock together. {Mic.3:5} Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people to err; that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and whoso putteth not into their mouths (or feed their egos and wallets), they even prepare war against him: {6} Therefore it shall be night unto you, that ye shall have no vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down upon the prophets, and the day shall be black over them. When you see these people, pray for them. Like Paul, they can be delivered and be a great witness. The Lord moved me to write this article when I was realizing how big this rejection problem is among Christians and that day I was put in contact with a young man who was a drug addict and wanted deliverance. It was ruining his relationship to everyone, including his wife. As I spoke to him, I felt the drugs weren't the foundational problem. I asked him what kind of mental pain he was seeking relief from in drugs. He wasn't sure. I asked him if he was not forgiving anyone. I asked him if he felt over-corrected and under-loved by anyone. He said that would be his dad who recently died. He said his dad was constantly correcting him and he couldn't take it. His dad was at one time an alcoholic. I told him that his dad had passed on a spirit of rejection to him through constant correction without the ability to show love. He basically said I hit the nail on the head, although it was the Lord. I told him he was trying to cover up or get relief from the mental and emotional pain of a rejection spirit with drugs. I told him he should forgive and pity his dad because he was also in bondage to rejection and didn't know how to be free and used alcohol to relieve the pain. I asked him to pray a prayer of forgiveness for his dad and his granddad that he said he felt unforgiveness toward because he left him alone through his death. When he did this, I commanded rejection, fear of rejection and abandonment to leave him in Jesus name, which they did. He had labored under their bondage for some years. He had been delivered over to the tormentors because of unforgiveness, as Jesus said would happen. After this, we were able to command the spirits of addiction to leave him and they did. We talked again and he was feeling greatly relieved and had come off the drugs and is seeking to be a disciple of Jesus. His mom told me, “I can see the son I haven't seen for quite some time and I praise the Lord for that”. He said, “I wanted to let you know that my sickness has passed. Thank you, Lord, and thank you, David. Thank you for your help; you guys saved my life”. Jesus saved his life through his forgiveness and faith. As a young man, I never forgave from the heart and, therefore, rejected others in return. I was, therefore, delivered over to the tormentors, as Jesus said. {Mat.18:32} Then his lord called him unto him, and saith to him, Thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou besoughtest me: {33} shouldest not thou also have had mercy on thy fellow-servant, even as I had mercy on thee? {34} And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due. {35} So shall also my heavenly Father do unto you, if ye forgive not every one his brother from your hearts. So the key to take away the demons' rights over you is to forgive and to believe that Jesus delivered you from them at the cross. {Col.1:13} who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love. Friend, if you will be sure to forgive everyone and exercise your faith toward God's promises, you will be a new person who is free to love and associate with good people. You may believe that a person's sins are cast into the depths of the sea, as Micah 7:19 says, to be remembered no more. But when a person does not forgive, their past sins are remembered and they are judged for them. {Eze.21:24} Therefore thus saith the Lord: Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand. ... {Mat.6:12} And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. {13} And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil [one.] {14} For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. {15} But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. I pray you will forgive whatever you believe any has done to you so you will be forgiven and the tormentors will have no authority to hold you in bondage ever again. There is not a set of classic symptoms for this spiritual disease. Rejection isn't always the same because it is only one spirit, but depending on the tactics they are using to destroy the individual, other spirits are invited in. It's like a demonic family tree which changes with different people and their blood inheritances. Some seek acceptance and recognition in order to comfort themselves and end up with pride, manipulation and controlling others. Many seek to be pastors because of this. Satan loves that. Some go another way and have fear of more rejection so they separate from others and become very introverted and cannot be joined to anything or anyone. Some cannot be corrected because of their fear of rejection and become fools, as the scriptures say. The demonic branches are as different as family trees. We are told that many ways seem right unto men but the end of this all is death, just as Satan plans. But for the grace of Jesus there go I. If some of these symptoms are in you and you will seek to be honest with yourself and God, He will deliver you. Please pray with me. Father, with my will I forgive _______ _______ and I ask you to take the emotions of unforgiveness and bitterness from my heart. I ask you to forgive and bless them to know You in all Your fullness and restore them from any damage I may have done to them. Now, please take the authority given to you by Jesus, Who said: {Mar.16:17} And these signs shall accompany them that believe: in my name shall they cast out demons. If possible, do this with other Spirit-filled believers. Say with me: I command you, spirits of rejection, fear of rejection, frustration, hopelessness, depression, anger, retaliation, suicide, etc., to leave me now in Jesus' name. Now agree with me that this is done according to: {Mat.18:19} Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father who is in heaven. And: {Mar.11:23} Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that what he saith cometh to pass; he shall have it. {24} Therefore I say unto you, All things whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Now go and confess your deliverance before men, according to: {Rom.10:10} for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. {11} For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be put to shame. ... {Mat.10:32} Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in heaven. {33} But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven. Now walk in the steps of Jesus as His disciple. Love from your servant in Christ, David Friends, the solution for what you have suffered all your life could be forgiveness from the heart. Listen to The Curse of Unforgiveness series. It ends with part seven, which is a revelation on rejection, anger and retaliation. If a Christian does not forgive from the heart, he will go to hell, no matter how much he has done for the kingdom because he cannot be forgiven, according to Jesus. Read Deliverance from Rejection. Read about how good and evil traits are passed generationally through our DNA. Also, a sister suffered all her life with bondage to rejection, fear, anger and separation from others. She began to have terrible headaches and we would pray them away but they continued to come back until she seemed to have a stroke. Her speech was slurred and her leg was numb and she would drag it. The pain was terrible. Everyone was praying for her, as we are you. She got a revelation that she had only been forgiving her ex-husband with mental assent and not from the heart, as Jesus commanded in Mat.18:34, 35 under threat that the tormentors would have control of her life. Esau was a son of Abraham and Isaac, as we are through faith, but sold his birthright through a root of bitterness that defiled his seed -- Hebrews 12:14-17. Don't let this happen to you. This sister repented under this pressure and forgave him from her heart. Then something wonderful happened to her -- her bonds just fell off and she was a completely different person than she had ever been her whole Christian life. She is loving, friendly, outgoing and joyous. Everyone recognizes that she is totally different. She has been bubbling over with joy since this happened. Her husband has never known this person.   Chris Boswell - 05/20/2010 I just read the above article. Rejection and fear of rejection are big in my family and have been in me, also. I am glad I read this article because it brought me great insight and deliverance from these demons! I pray also that my whole family be delivered from these evil spirits, in Jesus' name! I can also see how these demons have destroyed many lives around me, and people I grew up with, and I pray that they would all be delivered from these destructive spirits. I am so glad to be rid of these demons; it has brought me great relief! And I know now that I also am able to receive forgiveness and healing that I so desperately need. Thank you, brother David, for sharing your own testimony about deliverance from rejection and its fears. God bless!   Lorena Wagner - 05/20/2010 Tonight's Bible study was absolutely fabulous!!! I loved it! I know it was for me. I have been devouring The Curse of Unforgiveness audios. Last year I was royally burned. All I thought about was, just add water -- The Water of the Word -- and turn the other cheek, which I did. With the ashes of burning the wood, hay and stubble, and the Water of the Word, it was a potent, purifying cleanser. I was delivered of two demons that flew out of me with such a strong force that it woke me up. I had been sleeping at the time. One demon flew out and hit my window, and my window even rattled because of it. I wasn't even trying to get rid of any demons when that happened. Tonight I was delivered of the spirit of rejection, the fear of rejection and condemnation, which I had been battling all my life. Father is amazing!   Jim and Andie Dearest family and friends, We read the article above this morning in our daily devotional and prayed the enclosed prayer and received deliverance from the feelings of rejection and the fear associated with it that have plagued us (both) all of our lives. Praise the Lord! In His love, Jim and Andie   Melanie - 01/06/2011 It seems peculiar but I was helped to see that I had a spirit of rejection when I was listening to your broadcast last night and after reading about the railings and the topic of slander. Though I hate such things, I did realize that I had a spirit of rejection when I realized how insurmountable it would seem to me to address all of this as the elders and David have. I looked up the post on the spirit and rejection and prayed and forgave all others I could think of. I believe that God has done a great deliverance in my life because of this. Thank you God and UBM.   Rejection Lied; Father Loves Me Anonymous - 04/04/2015 (David's notes in red) Friends, one of the biggest plagues in Christianity is people who received rejection spirits through their relationships with their earthly parents and/or inherited them through the bloodline, who now relate to their Heavenly Father or spiritual fathers in the faith in the same way because of these deceiving spirits. This is also what spawned the faction movement. I hope this will help the saints not to fall into the same traps of Satan. It was sure an eye-opener for me, though. I wasn't realizing that the thoughts and feelings I was having were sinful and were grieving Father. Most people don't recognize that feelings of unworthiness and self-pity or self-loathing (all side effects of rejection) are sin and contribute to fear, doubt and unbelief. They create a huge gulf between us and the saving power and deliverance of Jesus, and keep us from receiving the gifts of God. I feel there are two manifestations of rejection. One is that people lash out at others and defend themselves and the other is that people turn inward on themselves in the form of self-loathing and unworthiness. (We cast these spirits and their thoughts down from all who agree with the good news that Jesus bore this curse on the cross.) I believe these issues go along with unforgiveness, even of oneself. I think there may be others besides me who have forgiven everyone else, except themselves. (Unforgiveness of oneself or of Father God or of spiritual fathers causes many much grief and gives the devil authority over us.) Father has shown me in this dream that now it is time to forgive myself. I believe Father has shown me that this has been a main block to overcoming and receiving healing for trials and temptations. (I pray, Father, that You will show Your love, grace and forgiveness of all who have this need today.) There may be other things but Father is being faithful to reveal these things to me. I know in my head that He loves me but I desire to know it in my heart also. (We pray that all who hear these words and have a need to feel the love of the Father, that they receive this today, in Jesus' name.) It is His will that I be in perfect health. I know He will be with me every step of the way and that I will have a great testimony at the end. I dreamed that I was in a white surveillance van parked outside of the home of an old, Middle Eastern man who was a doctor. (He represents Jehovah Rapha, our healer. [This is Jesus Christ who repairs broken lives and bodies.]) His home was my childhood home. (Many people's hurts start in their childhood but our Healer was there and knows of these hurts and is meeting those needs today.) I remember that this house faced east. (The coming of the sun/Son in their lives.) {Eph.2:19} So then ye are no more strangers and sojourners, but ye are fellow-citizens with the saints and of the household of God, {20} being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief corner stone; {21} in whom each several building, fitly framed together, groweth into a holy temple in the Lord; {22} in whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God in the Spirit. I was watching the doctor closely through a pair of very powerful binoculars. I watched every move He made and studied all His activities and His comings and goings. He was very predictable and seemed like a nice, gentle man. {Heb.13:8} Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and to-day, yea and forever. I was studying him from afar because I was fearful of Him and concerned about His activities. (This represents trying to understand the Father through natural senses and finite understanding and assigning our own human nature and qualities to our Heavenly Father. Trying to make Him into our image and trying to understand His ways through a human perspective. This causes us to be fearful of God in the wrong kind of way. We cannot understand God through our own intellect. We need the Holy Spirit to understand anything about God and His ways. (God's foreordained plan to transform us starts in our beginning with the dirt He sows the seed in. Our natural life is the dirt, which cannot be compared with the eternal seed of the sons of God. All sons and daughters of God must be saved from sin so that they know and understand grace -- unmerited favor of God.) (Jesus said, “He that hath seen me, hath seen the Father”.) (Jesus' giving heart. His kindness and graciousness to men exhibited in the Gospels is an example of our Heavenly Father's love for us. He cries to us.) {Isa.55:6} Seek ye Jehovah while he may be found; call ye upon him while he is near: {7} let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto Jehovah, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. {8} For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith Jehovah. {9} For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. {Joh.14:8} Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. {9} Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and dost thou not know me, Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; How sayest thou, Show us the Father? {10} Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I say unto you I speak not from myself: but the Father abiding in me doeth his works. One day, when this kind doctor went out on an errand, I decided to go inside his house and find out what was inside and what he was doing in there. I thought he might be doing something to hurt the 'children'. (This represents viewing God as an angry and punishing father. Many, like myself, who have had this type of earthly father, may unconsciously project that experience onto our Heavenly Father. This is caused by a spirit of rejection that will keep you from an intimate relationship with the Heavenly Father and from being able to receive all the benefits He has for you.) {Luk.11:9} And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. {10} For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. {11} And of which of you that is a father shall his son ask a loaf, and he give him a stone? or a fish, and he for a fish give him a serpent? {12} Or if he shall ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion? {13} If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? When I went inside, I saw that he had a bunch of servants (angels [and earthly ministers]) who were preparing many gift packages out of the gifts that the doctor had made for the 'children'. They were wrapping them in clear cellophane and getting them ready for delivery. {Heb.1:13} But of which of the angels hath he said at any time, Sit thou on my right hand, Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet? {14} Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to do service for the sake of them that shall inherit salvation? (These gifts represent salvation through Jesus and the promises of Father in His Word to us.) {Rom.11:28} As touching the gospel, they are enemies for your sake: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sake. {29} For the gifts and the calling of God are not repented of. {30} For as ye in time past were disobedient to God, but now have obtained mercy by their disobedience, {31} even so have these also now been disobedient, that by the mercy shown to you they also may now obtain mercy. {32} For God hath shut up all unto disobedience, that he might have mercy upon all. Only sinners can be saved and understand mercy and grace, given to those God loves in manifold ways to bestow upon the needy. {12:6} And having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith; {7} or ministry, let us give ourselves to our ministry; or he that teacheth, to his teaching; {8} or he that exhorteth, to his exhorting: he that giveth, let him do it with liberality; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness. The gifts were all over the house on tables and along the floors next to the walls. I was surprised at all these wonderful gifts he had prepared and then I felt ashamed. I had thought that he meant to do harm to the 'children' and that I didn't trust him. Then I realized that so many of these gifts had been sitting in their places for a long time because many of the 'children' felt the same way toward the doctor that I had felt. I thought to myself, ‘If only they could see these gifts!' Then my husband (representing Jesus) came up behind me and encouraged me to go lay down and rest on the large king-sized bed that was in the middle of the living room. I was still fearful of the doctor because, even though I saw all the wonderful gifts that he had prepared for the 'children', I felt that he didn't intend any of those gifts for me and I thought he would be angry at me for intruding into his house and doubting his person. (This is representative of a lying spirit of rejection. If we listen to these lies, it will keep us from receiving all the gifts that Father has intended us to have.) {Heb.4:2} For indeed we have had good tidings preached unto us, even as also they: but the word of hearing did not profit them, because it was not united by faith with them that heard. So I decided to lay on my right side, underneath the bed. My husband was disappointed and didn't agree with this, but he loved me so much that he still went and laid next to me under the bed with his arm around me to bring comfort and peace to me. (Many live beneath their privilege and relationship with Jesus. We are sons and daughters of God through Him.) {Rom.8:35} Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? {36} Even as it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter. (We endure the death of the old man of self.) {37} Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. {38} For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, {39} nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. The underneath of the bed was very high up, so that I could sit up underneath it and there was a blue, transparent bed skirt that I could see the front door and the rest of the living room through. (The place of rest, on top of the bed, is high up in Heavenly places. Laying underneath represents being overcome by our carnal mind.) {Rom.8:6} For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace. I then saw the doctor come in through the front door. I watched his every move, while laying under the bed, through the transparent bed skirt. My husband gently said to me, “Let's get out from under here. It's okay. It's safe”. So I came out from under the bed, but I couldn't face the doctor. He knew what my thoughts were and saw the brokenness of my being. He knew I felt unworthy of his gifts and his love. This saddened him. He longed for me to come to him and receive his love with open arms. {Heb.3:17} But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? (Fear, doubt and unbelief are sin and it grieves the Father. Spirits of rejection, self-loathing, self-pity and unworthiness hide very well in “religion” and in those who are under the law and self-works. We must not forget that it is the sacrifice of our Savior and the grace of the Father that we are counted worthy and reckoned as righteous.) (This is what we must believe for deliverance.) I went out and sat on the front porch on the first step. I was feeling hopeless when, suddenly, I saw the doctor's hand place a love letter to my right on the step next to me. (The Word of God is His love letter to us and all His promises in it. This is always the “first step” to victory over the enemy and his lies!) I looked at it. It was in a white business envelope with my name written on it with fancy lettering (like calligraphy). I then looked away from it, as tears rolled down my face and a pain went through my heart. I was afraid to read it and afraid to accept His love. Then the evil voice of Rejection told me that if I opened it there would be nothing but rebukes and words of rejection and condemnation! Self-pity said that I didn't need any more of that in my life and Self-loathing said, “How could you even think that He could love you?” All the while, my Spirit man, inside, knew how special I was to the doctor, but the lies of the enemy were casting me down, discouraging me and making me feel unworthy. (And so having no faith toward God, we miss out on all of His benefits, as the demons plotted.) I wanted to leave the letter there, unopened, and slide down a yellow slide that appeared, now, in front of me, off of the porch. (“Yellow” signifying being fearful or chicken.) My husband appeared behind me and again told me, “Please! Don't go! Open the letter. It is a love letter just for you! He wrote it just for you! Can't you see how much he loves you? You are so special to Him”. I could see past my husband and through the wall of the house that the doctor was sad that I was ignoring His special letter that He had written just for me. I wanted to believe so much that I was special to Him but at the same time I was afraid to let myself believe it because I was afraid that my trust in Him would be betrayed and that eventually He would turn on me in a punishing way. (These demons are called fear of rejection and fear of failure.) When I woke up, I knew that I was making Father sad because I wasn't trusting Him for His gift of healing and deliverance from the enemy and that I needed to get back into His Word to renew my mind daily and remind myself of His love for me. {Eph.6:16} withal taking up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. {17} And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. I asked Father for a verse or text through faith at random for this dream and He couldn't have picked a better “love letter”! My finger landed on Psalm 40:11, but here it is in context. {Psa.40:1} I waited patiently for Jehovah; And he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. {2} He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay; And he set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. {3} And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: Many shall see it, and fear, And shall trust in Jehovah. {4} Blessed is the man that maketh Jehovah his trust, And respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. {5} Many, O Jehovah my God, are the wonderful works which thou hast done, And thy thoughts which are to us-ward; They cannot be set in order unto thee; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered. {6} Sacrifice and offering thou hast no delight in; Mine ears hast thou opened: Burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not required. {7} Then said I, Lo, I am come; In the roll of the book it is written of me: {8} I delight to do thy will, O my God; Yea, thy law is within my heart. {9} I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great assembly; Lo, I will not refrain my lips, O Jehovah, thou knowest. {10} I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation; I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great assembly. {11} Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Jehovah; Let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. {12} For innumerable evils have compassed me about; Mine iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; They are more than the hairs of my head; And my heart hath failed me. {13} Be pleased, O Jehovah, to deliver me: Make haste to help me, O Jehovah. {14} Let them be put to shame and confounded together That seek after my soul to destroy it: Let them be turned backward and brought to dishonor That delight in my hurt. {15} Let them be desolate by reason of their shame That say unto me, Aha, aha. {16} Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: Let such as love thy salvation say continually, Jehovah be magnified. {17} But I am poor and needy; Yet the Lord thinketh upon me: Thou art my help and my deliverer; Make no tarrying, O my God. CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITIONThis is the first episode in our new series, "The Foolishness of God: The End Times." The term "foolishness of God" comes from St. Paul, who said "the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men" (1 Cor. 1:25). He was speaking about the Passion of Our Lord, which the Church teaches is a type of the end times Passion of the Church (see the Catholic Catechism, paragraphs 675-77).In this first introductory installment, we'll discuss the Antichrist Agenda as outlined by the famous 19th century protestant convert, St. John Henry Newman, and how most Christians have already accepted many parts of it.Support Eternal Christendom: https://eternalchristendom.com/become-a-patron/Connect with Joshua on social mediaX: https://twitter.com/JoshuaTCharlesFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/joshuatcharles/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/joshuatcharles/EPISODE CHAPTERS00:00 - Intro01:34 - The End Times Passion of the Church05:55 - St. John Henry Newman on the Antichrist Agenda15:22 - ConclusionListen on Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/eternal-christendom-podcast/id1725000526Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3HoTTco6oJtApc21ggVevuOutro Music: “A Place in Heaven” by Thomas BergersenLicense Code: 9OTZEL9EAVMBUDMY

Sin is not okay with God —Many, sadly are taught wrong in the Church. They are told, it's okay to sin, no one is perfect —yet Jesus said He is coming for a Bride without spot or wrinkle. 2 Peter 3:14 So, beloved, since you are expecting these things, be eager to be found by Him [at His coming] without spot or blemish and at peace [in serene confidence, free from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts]. Of course, Jesus will perfect us, only He can, but we have to be willing to be corrected —recreated in His likeness. Ephesians 2:10 Revelation 3:19 Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude]. Thus you should know that you need to know Jesus for yourself. Take the time needed to know Him so that you are not deceived. Take God's warning seriously, it's a matter of heaven or hell! Matthew 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name? 23 And then I will say to them openly (publicly), I never knew you; depart from Me, you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands]. AMPC Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and will eat with him, and he [will eat] with Me. Blessings Follow Sanctification (6)  (audio)  David Eells (7/7/24)  We've been studying sanctification and its resulting blessing, and we've seen that the Church and the Bride are coming to such great maturity in their sanctification that they are as (Isa.62:1) … as a lamp that burneth. All of the true Church is going to grow 30-, 60- and 100-fold in the fruit of Jesus Christ, and the Bride gloriously comes into His image, as we studied in Isaiah 62. But Isaiah 63 is a different story because it tells you about those who are not sanctified.   I'd like to back up a little bit first and review what I shared about last time. (Isa.63:1) Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, marching in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. (2) Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winevat? (3) I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was no man with me: yea, I trod them in mine anger, and trampled them in my wrath; and their lifeblood is sprinkled upon my garments, and I have stained all my raiment. We noticed in Revelation 19 that the Lord does come back with a garment that is sprinkled with blood and it is the blood of His enemies.   The enemy that He is speaking about in this chapter is Edom. He is coming from Bozrah of Edom and bozrah means “sheepfold.” We saw in our previous study that the Lord Jesus came to the sheepfold in a time when the Old Testament Church was very apostate and He called His sheep by name and led them out of the sheepfold. Shortly after that, those people who refused to come out of their apostate sheepfold were hardened and rejected, and then the Beast came and devoured the Harlot. We know that same history is going to repeat in our day and this is who Isaiah 63 is talking about; it's talking about the Harlot. We also learned that Edom, or the seed of Esau, represents the opposite of Jacob. (Gen.25:29) And Jacob boiled pottage: and Esau came in from the field, and he was faint:   (30) and Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red [pottage]; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom. (31) And Jacob said, Sell me first thy birthright. (32) And Esau said, Behold, I am about to die: and what profit shall the birthright do to me? (33) And Jacob said, Swear to me first; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. (34) And Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: so Esau despised his birthright. At the time when Esau decided to sell his birthright, he was called “Edom,” which means “red,” and “red” is the color of sin. As it says in (Isa.1:18) Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.   Remember what it says in Hebrews. (Heb.12:14) Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man shall see the Lord (When Jacob was sanctified, or separated, from Esau, he bore so much fruit that it shocked his brother.): (Heb.12:15) looking carefully lest [there be] any man that falleth short of the grace of God (Many people fall short of the grace of God for the same reason that Esau fell short of the grace of God.); lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble [you,] and thereby the many be defiled.... A root of bitterness will defile many people because a person who has it will export it and Esau certainly did. If nothing else, he exported it to all of his seed because the sins of the parents are passed on to the children to the third and fourth generation (Deuteronomy 5:9).   When a person sins by allowing a demonic spirit of bitterness, or criticism, or unforgiveness toward their brother, which was Esau's problem, then that sin is passed on to their seed. The sin of Esau is the sin of the Edomites, whom the Lord says He will destroy, He will trample (Isaiah 63:3). “The many be defiled” is what happened from Esau's sin and even today there are Esaus, so Paul warns us that we need to make sure that no one falls after that same example of disobedience. Esau was the brother of Jacob and he was a son of Abraham, and he represented a son of God, but still he sold his birthright because of this root of bitterness. (Heb.12:16) Lest [there be] any fornicator, or profane person (We discovered that “profane” here means “permitted to be trodden.” In other words, this is someone who was “trampled underfoot,” someone who was conquered by his spiritual enemies.), as Esau, who for one mess of meat (I liken that to “flesh” because I don't think it was an accident that they used the word “meat” there.) sold his own birthright.   Because he walked after the flesh, because he submitted to these spirits of criticism, anger and bitterness against his brother, Esau sold his own birthright. (Heb.12:17) For ye know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected; for he found no place for a change of mind [in his father] (Literally, it doesn't say “in his father,” but “found no place for a change of mind.” The phrase “change of mind” is the Greek word metanoia and it means “repentance.” Esau could not repent and we saw in 2 Peter 2 that unrepentant people can't cease from sin.), though he sought it diligently with tears.   He found no forgiveness in himself, he found no repentance in his life and he could not cease from sinning because he was bitter. He was turned over to the tormentors and the tormentors made him what he was. Jesus told us in, (Mat.18:32) Then his lord called him unto him, and saith to him, Thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou besoughtest me: (33) shouldest not thou also have had mercy on thy fellow-servant, even as I had mercy on thee? (34) And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due. (35) So shall also my heavenly Father do unto you, if ye forgive not every one his brother from your hearts.   When we see that the people whom the Lord is judging here is Edom, we are not seeing the whole story. Edom specifically represents those who are brothers of Jacob and sons of Abraham, whether physical or spiritual, but who sell their birthright through walking after the flesh and go on to persecute their brother. In the case of Edom, they sell their birthright because of bitterness. The whole story is found in Revelation 19, where He is judging all of the nations at the time of the wrath of God. (Rev.19:11) And I saw the heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and he that sat thereon called Faithful and True; and in righteous he doth judge and make war. (12) And his eyes [are] a flame of fire, and upon his head [are] many diadems; and he hath a name written which no one knoweth but he himself. (13) And he is arrayed in a garment sprinkled with blood: and his name is called The Word of God.   (14) And the armies which are in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white [and] pure. (15) And out of his mouth proceedeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty. (16) And he hath on his garment and on his thigh a name written, KINGS OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Also, notice how He uses the same language in Isaiah. (Isa.63:3) I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was no man with me: yea, I trod them in mine anger, and trampled them in my wrath; and their lifeblood is sprinkled upon my garments, and I have stained all my raiment. (4) For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.   What is this “day of vengeance”? What is this “day of wrath”? And what is the “year of my redeemed”? Well, the “day of vengeance” and the “day of wrath” are the same day. They are a day that we're told is a year; they are the “year of my redeemed,” when God is judging all those who have persecuted His people. (Isa.34:8) For the Lord hath a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion. (9) And the streams of [Edom] shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch. In the days of Noah, God brought His wrath upon the earth and this “day of wrath” was the year in which the flood waters were upon the earth to destroy lost mankind (Genesis 6-8).   God told Noah, (Gen.7:4) For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living thing that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the ground. So after seven days the flood waters came. In type, the flood represents the “great and terrible day of the Lord” (Joel 2:31 KJV) that comes after seven years of the Tribulation. And we can see this again in Daniel's 70th week where each day is a year. (Dan.9:27) And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease; and upon the wing of abominations [shall come] one that maketh desolate; and even unto the full end, and that determined, shall [wrath] be poured out upon the desolate.   There was a continual wrath from the Edomites against Israel and here we see in Isaiah 63 that God is judging this. The spiritual Edomites today cannot stand holiness, they cannot stand purity, they cannot stand truth and they are just like Esau, who continually persecuted his brother. A great persecution is coming from the religious Harlot against the true Church and the Lord is going to deal with that in the “day of vengeance” or “day of wrath.” It will be the “great and terrible day of the Lord” (Jeremiah 46:10; Joel 2:11,31; Acts 2:20; 1 Thessalonians 5:2; 2 Peter 3:10).   Another thing that's going to happen before this “day of vengeance” is that there's going to be a great “falling way” (John 16:1; 2 Thessalonians 2:3; Hebrews 3:12) and, as a matter of fact, in Revelation 6 it is very plain. (Rev.6:12) And I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the whole moon became as blood. We know that the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the “great and terrible day of the Lord,” which is a year, as we've seen in Isaiah 34:8.   The Bible also says that the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood after the Tribulation period. (Mat.24:29) But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. (Act.2:20) The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the day of the Lord come, That great and notable [day]. In other words, after the seven days, which is exactly what God told Noah, there would be another year. Between the seventh and eighth year, the sun is turned into darkness and the moon into blood, but at the beginning of the eighth year is when the ark lifted off and the floods came down and judged the world.   So when the sun and the moon are darkened, which is the beginning of the great and terrible Day of the Lord, what happens? (Rev.6:13) And the stars of the heaven fell unto the earth, as a fig tree casteth her unripe figs when she is shaken of a great wind. That's when the “stars” of heaven fall to the earth and we're told Abraham's seed are as the stars of heaven. (Gen.15:5) And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and number the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And Scripture also likens God's people to a fig tree (Jeremiah 29:17; Matthew 24:1-10; Isaiah 28:4; Nahum 3:12; etc.)   Also in (Hos.9:10) I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the first ripe in the fig-tree at its first season: but they came to Baal-peor, and consecrated themselves unto the shameful thing, and became abominable like that which they loved. So then, who is this who's falling away? As a type and shadow, these are the Edomites. Even though they are as the stars in heaven, they still will fall away. (Rev.6:13) And the stars of the heaven fell unto the earth, as a fig tree casteth her unripe figs when she is shaken of a great wind. You see, we have only a certain amount of time to become mature, to bear fruit, to be ripe figs.   What is it that's going to cause this great falling away? We read in (Rev.6:13) And the stars of the heaven fell unto the earth, as a fig tree casteth her unripe figs when she is shaken of a great wind. God said that He would “shake” the heavens and the earth. (Heb.12:26) Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more will I make to tremble not the earth only, but also the heaven. This shaking is the one that is coming and it both causes the falling away and brings in the Kingdom. (Rev.6:14) And the heaven was removed as a scroll when it is rolled up; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.   (15) And the kings of the earth, and the princes, and the chief captains, and the rich, and the strong, and every bondman and freeman, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains; (16) and they say to the mountains and to the rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: (17) for the great day of their wrath is come; and who is able to stand? So, again, when the sun and moon are darkened, we know that this is before the great and terrible Day of the Lord. (Mat.24:29) But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.   Then the Lord sends forth His angels and gathers together His elect as it says in, (Mat.13:24) Another parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man that sowed good seed in his field: (25) but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares also among the wheat, and went away. (26) But when the blade sprang up and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. (27) And the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst thou not sow good seed in thy field? whence then hath it tares? (28) And he said unto them, An enemy hath done this. And the servants say unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? (29) But he saith, Nay; lest haply while ye gather up the tares, ye root up the wheat with them.   (30) Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn. (36) Then he left the multitudes, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Explain unto us the parable of the tares of the field. (37) And he answered and said, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; (38) and the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil [one]; (39) and the enemy that sowed them is the devil: and the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are angels.   (40) As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire; so shall it be in the end of the world. (41) The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that cause stumbling, and them that do iniquity, (42) and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. (43) Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear. The Lord sends forth His angels and gathers together His elect, just like with Noah. Noah lifted off at the beginning of the “great and terrible day of the Lord,” which was the year when the water came down and put to death the wicked.   Obadiah has something to say about this Day of the Lord concerning the Edomites, but first I want to point out that he is talking about the time of the Day of the Lord. (Oba.15) For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee; thy dealing shall return upon thine own head. The Lord Jesus said when He came back, He was going to render to every man according to his works. (Mat.16:27) For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then shall he render unto every man according to his deeds. He said, “every man”! Some people think, “Well, that's not necessarily speaking about God's children,” but the Edomites sold their birthright as sons of God. I'm talking more specifically about the spiritual Edomites, those who are speaking against their brothers, those who are persecuting them as the Harlot persecutes the true Church.   And when the Lord comes back, He is going to render to those Edomites according to their works. (Oba.8) Shall I not in that day, saith the Lord, destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau? The mount of Esau is Mount Seir, just as Mount Zion is the Mount of Israel, and it represents a kingdom, the kingdom of Esau. (Oba.9) And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one may be cut off from the mount of Esau by slaughter. Everyone! How is it possible that every Edomite could be cut off? It's possible when we understand that these Edomites are a type and shadow. (1Co.10:11) Now these things happened unto them by way of example (The Greek word for “example” here is “type” or “figure.”); and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.   “To the end that every one may be cut off from the mount of Esau by slaughter” is a type or figure; it's a parable. It was in the “letter” according to natural Israel, but is to be understood in the Spirit according to spiritual New Testament Israel. We also have our brothers who are persecuting, critical, unforgiving, bitter, railing against the truth and fighting against those who walk in holiness and sanctification. God is going to deal with them when He is through using them to bring His people to their cross and this is what He is talking about when He says He's going to cut off every one of them. If you're saying, “That will be a real slaughter against an awful lot of humans,” that's true, naturally speaking. Of course, that slaughter is coming in the great and terrible Day of the Lord, too. It's coming in the “flood” of judgment that is going to destroy multitudes of people. And that flood is also going to destroy these spiritual Edomites, those who have persecuted their brothers.   Going on in (Oba.10) For the violence done to thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off forever. (11) In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away his substance, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them. In other words, the Edomites sided with the Beast kingdoms that came against Israel; this is a historic fact. They did this constantly. Herod was an Edomite who was put there by the Romans to rule over Israel and they called it “Palestine” to insult the Israelites because there wasn't really a Palestine; the land belonged to Israel. “Palestine” is the Latin version of the name “Philistine.”   Once again, in our day, brethren from our midst will side with the Beast kingdom against us, just as Judas did from the midst of the disciples. He sided with the Beast and betrayed the body of Christ. (Oba.12) But look not thou on the day of thy brother in the day of his disaster, and rejoice not over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither speak proudly in the day of distress. (13) Enter not into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, look not thou on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither lay ye hands on their substance in the day of their calamity. (14) And stand thou not in the crossway, to cut off those of his that escape; and deliver not up those of his that remain in the day of distress. That's exactly what Judas did; he delivered up Christ to the Beast.   In the previous teaching, I shared a dream concerning soldiers dressed in red uniforms, who parachuted down from heaven and were trying to block God's people from escaping into the wilderness. It was very interesting and that is actually what Obadiah is saying here. Those soldiers dressed in red are Edomites because, as we saw, “Edom” means “red.” And they were parachuting down because they were like those figs being cast down when a fig tree is shaken of a great wind and like the stars of heaven falling to the earth. This is a great falling away about which the Bible speaks and it will come through deception and delusion. And who can fall away, except a people who have known the Lord? Here was Esau, a son of Abraham, a son of God, who was in the position of the firstborn and yet he fell away.   We see this again in Ezekiel concerning the Edomites being betrayers of their brethren and it also appears very much like the destruction of the Harlot. Let's read that in (Eze.35:1) Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, (2) Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir (Again, that represents Esau's kingdom.), and prophesy against it, (3) and say unto it, Thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I am against thee, O mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against thee, and I will make thee a desolation and an astonishment. (4) I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate; and thou shalt know that I am the Lord. (5) Because thou hast had a perpetual enmity, and hast given over the children of Israel (who was Jacob, his brother) to the power of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time of the iniquity of the end....    We know that at the end of the Roman Beast kingdom, the Edomites sided with the Romans against their brother Jacob and they are going to do it in these days, too. America, the “great eagle” at the very top of the image of the Beast (Daniel 3), is ultimately going to side with the Edomites against Israel. We know that from Jeremiah, where he speaks about Babylon, the great eagle, conquering all of the nations. First, all the nations drank of the cup of wrath that came from Babylon and then, ultimately, at the end, Babylon itself drank of the cup of wrath (Jeremiah 25:1-33). So the Lord said, “Those of you who side with the world against your brothers in the day of their calamity, you are going to be judged in the time of the iniquity of the end.”  Going on in (Eze.35:6) Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: since thou hast not hated blood, therefore blood shall pursue thee. (7) Thus will I make mount Seir an astonishment and a desolation; and I will cut off from it him that passeth through and him that returneth. (8) And I will fill its mountains with its slain: in thy hills and in thy valleys and in all thy watercourses shall they fall that are slain with the sword. (9) I will make thee a perpetual desolation, and thy cities shall not be inhabited; and ye shall know that I am the Lord. This is the iniquity of the end! (Eze.35:10) Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it (Even today, the natural Edomites are claiming those two nations and yet the land doesn't belong to them.); whereas the Lord was there:   (Eze.35:11) therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast showed out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I shall judge thee. (12) And thou shalt know that I, the Lord, have heard all thy revilings which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to devour. This is what's going to happen to natural Israel and, of course, the Church. The Church, being spiritual Jacob or spiritual Israel, is going to become desolate. War is going to be made against the saints and the Church, as we have known it, a prosperous, somewhat respected entity in the world, is going to go by the wayside.   The whole world is going to be against the Church and the Harlot, the Edomites, are going to side with the world. The Edomites will do this for the sake of advantage and because of their hatred of their brother. (Eze.35:13) And ye have magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard it. (14) Thus saith the Lord God: When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.   When the whole world comes against natural and spiritual Israel, and think that they have finally done away with their voice when the Two Witnesses are killed, the Bible says they will be rejoicing. As it says in (Rev.11:7) And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that cometh up out of the abyss shall make war with them, and overcome them, and kill them. (8) And their dead bodies lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. (9) And from among the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations do men look upon their dead bodies three days and a half, and suffer not their dead bodies to be laid in a tomb. (10) And they that dwell on the earth rejoice over them, and make merry; and they shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwell on the earth.   And yet God says at that time, “I will make thee desolate,” because that is what the great and terrible Day of the Lord is; it is the time for Him to render the “day of vengeance.” (Eze.35:15) As thou didst rejoice over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Edom, even all of it; and they shall know that I am the Lord. All of it! All of Mount Seir! How is that possible, except that God is almighty and He will do according to His Own will? (Dan.4:35) And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?   Nothing can restrain His hand and one thing He has determined is to destroy the Edomites, both the spiritual and the physical Edomites. Back in (Oba.15) For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee (He will render to every man according to his works.); thy dealing shall return upon thine own head. (Oba.16) For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink continually; yea, they shall drink, and swallow down, and shall be as though they had not been. This is speaking about the Jeremiah 25 scenario, where God offered this cup of wrath to all the nations and made them drink it.   The last one to drink it was Babylon, the “great eagle,” which was God's vessel to bring this judgment to those nations, and yet it is all going to be turned around in the end. (Oba.17) But in mount Zion there shall be those that escape.... Again, we're seeing that there are going to be certain people who are going to escape. And in the dream that I shared last time, the brother saw that I and the others with me had all escaped. (Oba.17) But in mount Zion there shall be those that escape, and it shall be holy.... Notice this. The reason that people are going to escape is because they are holy; they don't need any more sanctification and they don't need any more crucifixion. Crucifixion is for the purpose of putting to death the old man to bring forth a people who will walk holy before the Lord.   In other words, crucifixion is so they will sanctify themselves from the world and repent of their sins, and turn to God. This is the place of safety and the people who will do this are the people who will escape. (Oba.17) But in mount Zion there shall be those that escape, and it shall be holy; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. Yes! God's New Testament spiritual Jacob, or Israel, the true born-again Church, and especially the Bride who has been sanctified and is holy, will “possess their possessions.” We have been without our possessions for a long time now and the Lord has promised through Joel to restore everything that has been taken from us. He says, Joe 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the canker-worm, and the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm, my great army which I sent among you. Praise be to God for that!   (Oba.18) And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble.... God's people are going to have something to do with the destruction of Esau, or the Edomites, in the great and terrible Day of the Lord. Remember that for the first 40 days the ark set on the earth in that Day of the Lord, which was a year. Then, after 40 days, it lifted off. That represents the Lord coming for His people and He isn't coming back alone. At that time, when He returns to gather the saints and to bring judgment upon the earth, He has the armies of Heaven behind Him. (Rev.19:15) And the armies which are in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and pure.   This is when He tramples the “winepress of the wrath of God.” In (Rev.14:18) And another angel came out from the altar, he that hath power over fire; and he called with a great voice to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Send forth thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. (19) And the angel cast his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vintage of the earth, and cast it into the winepress, the great [winepress], of the wrath of God. (20) And the winepress was trodden without the city, and there came out blood from the winepress, even unto the bridles of the horses, as far as a thousand and six hundred furlongs. The Lord and the armies of Heaven with Him are bringing judgment to destroy the flesh of men.   (Rev.19:17) And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in mid heaven, Come and be gathered together unto the great supper of God; (18) that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses and of them that sit thereon, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, and small and great. One group in that list of the unregenerate nations is the Edomites, who had the birthright but sold it and they should not have been there in the first place.   Do you remember what the Lord said about the lukewarm? (Rev.3:16) So because thou art lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spew thee out of my mouth. When does that happen? Here in (Rev.12:3) And there was seen another sign in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his heads seven diadems. (4) And his tail draweth the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon standeth before the woman that is about to be delivered, that when she is delivered he may devour her child. The lukewarm are spewed out when the stars fall from heaven.   Some people think that the “stars” are angels, but, (Isa.9:15) The elder and the honorable man, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail. (16) For they that lead this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed. “The prophet that teacheth lies ... is the tail.” And the Bible also says that the “stars” of heaven are Abraham's seed (Genesis 15:5). So one-third of the “stars” of heaven are going to fall away. The dragon Beast is going to deceive and conquer them, and the spewing-out from the body of Christ of the lukewarm is that falling away.  Back to (Oba.18) And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall burn among them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining to the house of Esau; for the Lord hath spoken it. Some people have the idea that this is all natural. They don't understand that it's a parable because they don't see anything in the spirit, but those who go up in the great and terrible Day of the Lord are not a physical people anymore. God is giving them the power to destroy the Harlot, the Edomites, but they are no longer in the flesh.   I am not saying that natural Israel won't be upon this earth fighting against the nations that are brought against her. I believe that is absolutely true and Zechariah 12-14 speak of that. (Zec.12:6) In that day will I make the chieftains of Judah like a pan of fire among wood, and like a flaming torch among sheaves; and they shall devour all the peoples round about, on the right hand and on the left; and they of Jerusalem shall yet again dwell in their own place, even in Jerusalem. This has both a spiritual and natural meaning. When the Lord returns with all of His saints at the end of the great and terrible Day of the Lord, it will be to defend and preserve a remnant of natural Israel, and destroy the nations that come against it, including Edomites.   (Zec.14:5) And ye shall flee by the valley of my mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azel; yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah; and the Lord my God shall come, and all the holy ones with thee. Notice it says “all the holy (or ‘sanctified') ones with thee.” Obviously, the unsanctified are on the earth and going through the great and terrible Day of the Lord. (Zec.14:12) And this shall be the plague wherewith the Lord will smite all the peoples that have warred against Jerusalem: their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their sockets, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. I know that in the natural this could be speaking about nuclear weapons, but also it's like the “pan of fire” (Zechariah 12:6).   It's like the fire that is coming out of the mouth of the Lord and out of the mouth of the saints to destroy the wicked. (Zec.14:13) And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the Lord shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbor, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbor. (14) And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the nations round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance. The Lord is going to bring an end to the Edomites joining with the Beast entity to fight against their brothers, who are God's true people.   Let's go back to Obadiah and read a little bit more of this. (Oba.18) And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall burn among them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining to the house of Esau; for the Lord hath spoken it. (19) And they of the South shall possess the mount of Esau, and they of the lowland the Philistines; and they shall possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria; and Benjamin [shall possess] Gilead. (20) And the captives of this host of the children of Israel, that are [among] the Canaanites, [shall possess] even unto Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, that are in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the South. (21) And saviors shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's. This is the time when the kingdom of this world has become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.   God's people are going to be on Mount Zion; they are going to be in Heavenly Jerusalem and they are going to bring judgment against the wicked. Revelation tells us when the Kingdom is the Lord's: (Rev.11:15) And the seventh angel sounded (or, the “last trump”); and there followed great voices in heaven (speaking that the ark has lifted off), and they said, The kingdom of the world is become the kingdom of our Lord, and of his Christ: and he shall reign for ever and ever. So we do not have to guess about the timing that he is talking about here when he says, (Oba.21) And saviors shall come up on mount Zion.... God's people will totally overcome!   They will come to their Heavenly city, just as Paul spoke about them coming to their city back in his day. (Heb.12:22) But ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable hosts of angels, (23) to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, (24) and to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better than [that of] Abel.   And so we read, (Oba.21) Saviors shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau and the kingdom shall be the Lord's. Praise be to God! Are these “saviors” doing this judging in their new bodies? Yes, that is exactly right! As we saw earlier, they are no longer a physical people and they, with the Lord, are bringing this judgment. By the way, in the Book of Daniel, God gives credit to the saints for destroying this kingdom of the Beast. (Dan.7:23) Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all the kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. (24) And as for the ten horns, out of this kingdom shall ten kings arise: and another shall arise after them; and he shall be diverse from the former, and he shall put down three kings.   (25) And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they (the saints) shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time. (26) But the judgment shall be set, and they (the saints) shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. (27) And the kingdom and the dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High: his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. So the “saints,” meaning the “sanctified ones,” have returned with the Lord to bring this judgment upon the earth. God has given it unto them to do this and the Lord on His white horse is guiding His people. Praise be to God!   Back in (Oba.19) And they of the South shall possess the mount of Esau, and they of the lowland the Philistines; and they shall possess the field of Ephraim (This is speaking of the northern 10 tribes; that was the name that was used for them at one time.), and the field of Samaria.... In the time of Jesus, the Samaritans were not considered by the Jews to be true believers because they were not of the seed of the Jews. After the Assyrian Empire had conquered Samaria, they carried away the 10 tribes and replaced them with other conquered tribes from various pagan nations, who eventually ended up with the religion of the Jews, along with their own religions.   This is a kind of parallel with the Edomite situation and Ezra has something to say about it. In (Ezr.4:1) Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity (These were the people who were returning from captivity in order to rebuild the Temple, which is what is happening today.) were building a temple unto the Lord, the God of Israel; (2) then they drew near to Zerubbabel (His name means “born from Babylon” and he represents the Man-child here.), and to the heads of fathers' houses, and said unto them, Let us build with you; for we seek your God, as ye do; and we sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assyria, who brought us up hither. They're talking about having been relocated from other nations to Samaria after Samaria was conquered by the Assyrians.   (Ezr.4:3) But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of fathers' houses of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us in building a house unto our God (The Edomites, just like these Samaritans who represent false Christians, have nothing to do with building this house of God. Only the true holy people are the ones who are building the house of God and I'm going to explain that a little bit better further on.); but we ourselves together will build unto the Lord, the God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us. (Ezr.4:4) Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building. So these people wanted to join with the true holy people of God, but Jacob only bore fruit when he separated from Esau. And today, the Edomites want to join the true people of God, as though they are Christians, but they're not because they are defiled with that root of bitterness.   (Ezr.4:5) And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia. The Edomites sided with the Beast every time, as did these Samaritans. (Ezr.4:6) And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem. Throughout history, the Harlot has always accused God's people and the Edomites are always accusing God's people.   (Ezr.4:7) And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of his companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian character, and set forth in the Syrian tongue. (12) Be it known unto the king, that the Jews that came up from thee are come to us unto Jerusalem; they are building the rebellious and the bad city, and have finished the walls, and repaired the foundations. (13) Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls finished, they will not pay tribute, custom, or toll, and in the end it will be hurtful unto the kings. This is what the Samaritans threatened, which caused the king to order a stop to the building of the Temple.   Let me go back to who these people actually were and look at who the Samaritans are in our day. In (2Ki.17:24) And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Avva, and from Hamath and Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof. (25) And so it was, at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the Lord: therefore the Lord sent lions among them, which killed some of them.   (26) Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast carried away, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the law of the god of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the law of the god of the land. Well, they were living in Samaria, but they were not Israelites, were they? They called themselves Samaritans, but these were pagans who were brought in to take the place of the true Samaritans and it was the Beast that did this. The Beast entity, which is the world, which is the flesh, which is all those who don't walk according to the Spirit of God, has infiltrated the Church. These are people who talk like Christians but they don't fear God. If they feared God, they would be convicted with the Word of God to change their ways, but they just want to play “country club” religion.   Continuing in (2Ki.17:27) Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the law of the god of the land. You can teach a pagan all about Christianity and you can send them to Sunday School, but they will still be a pagan. That's the problem. (2Ki.17:28) So one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Beth-el (“Beth-el” means “the house of God.” Who are they teaching in this house of God? They're teaching people who are not Israelites; they're not Christians but they like going to church.), and taught them how they should fear the Lord. (2Ki.17:29) Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt. So they studied the God of the land, they studied the Lord, but they worshipped their own gods and, of course, it's that way in much of Christianity today.   People have a “Jesus” of their own making who's not the Jesus of the Bible. (2Ki.17:30) And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, (31) and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burnt their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. These were the actual “gods” these people worshipped. (1Co.10:20) But [I say], that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have communion with demons. According to Apostle Paul, these are demons impersonating God. Is it the same today? Yes! It's the same today; there are demons who impersonate the true God. There are people who claim to be God's people, but they are merely studying God and not really fearing Him. They're not really submitting to Him. These people are not Christians and will never be converted.   Continuing in (2Ki.17:32) So they feared the Lord, and made unto them from among themselves priests of the high places, who sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places. Notice that these are not ordained priests; they are not Levites. These priests came from among their pagan people. (2Ki.17:33) They feared the Lord, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations from among whom they had been carried away. They called Him “Lord,” but it was really their own god that they were serving. (2Ki.17:34) Unto this day they do after the former manner: they fear not the Lord, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law or after the commandment which the Lord commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel. This is the problem: dispersed among the people of God are people who don't walk as Christians.   The Lord said He would judge every man according to his own works, yet people think that God is going to judge them as to whether or not they have had the Christian experience of a new spirit. But that is not what the Word tells us. Paul writes in (Rom.2:5) But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; (6) who will render to every man according to his works: (7) to them that by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life: (8) but unto them that are factious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, [shall be] wrath and indignation, (9) tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek;   (10) but glory and honor and peace to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek: (11) for there is no respect of persons with God. The Lord says it will be according to your works. Your nature is what proves who you really are. If you walk after the regenerate spirit that God gave you, you will become regenerate. Your soul, which is your mind, will and emotions, will be renewed, but if you walk after the flesh, you must die. (Rom.8:12) So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh: (13) for if ye live after the flesh, ye must die; but if by the Spirit ye put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live. (14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. It all has to do with your works. God will judge these Judases who are among His people and who mistreat their brethren.  Back to (2Ki.17:35) With whom the Lord had made a covenant (this is speaking of Israel), and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them: (41) So these nations feared the Lord, and served their graven images; their children likewise, and their children's children, as did their fathers, so do they unto this day. And I might say, “So do they unto this day.” This is still going on because this is all a type and shadow of God separating the wheat from the tares. The tares are sown among the wheat but they do not bear fruit. These are people who claim to be Christians. They have invaded the Church just to do their own will.   They submit to their false gods, who are actually demons, and their works are going to prove who they are. They are not sanctified, therefore they don't take part in the Bride's blessing, but instead they take part in the great and terrible Day of the Lord. Everyone who is not sanctified will go through the great and terrible Day of the Lord, the day of God's wrath upon the wicked, the day of God's judgment upon the Harlot. God will use the Beast to devour the Harlot with fire. And it will be God's people who are exercising the authority of God's judgment. It will be God's people who are the fire in the midst of the Judases.   God bless you to follow the God of the Bible.

Jesus, the Word of God: Many people sense there must be something more to life, but what could it be? There once was an ambitious, hot-tempered young man named John whose life was dramatically changed by his friend, Jesus. John came to believe the new life he found — a real life, an eternal life, a life to the full — is available for all who believe. And this is what John's gospel is all about. Real life is found by faith in Jesus' name. Recorded on Jul 2, 2023, on John 1:1-18 by Pastor David Parks. Finding Life in Jesus' Name is a sermon series on the gospel according to John in the Bible. Have you ever felt unsatisfied with your life? Or, even when things were going well, something was still missing? Many people sense there must be something more. But what?? John, one of the closest friends of Jesus, believed that Jesus came into the world so that we may have life and have it to the full. Jesus turned John's life upside down, and John claims this new life — marked by God's power, presence, and purpose — is available for all who believe. Sermon Transcript So today, we have the privilege of starting a new annual theme for our preaching ministry, that is: Finding Life in Jesus' Name. Now normally, we'd have a selection of sermon series under this one annual theme from the Old and New Testaments in the Bible, but this year, we're going to do something a little different. For almost the whole next year, we're going to slowly (chapter by chapter and verse by verse) work through the gospel according to John. This morning, I have the task of introducing this whole series, but we'll also jump into the beginning, or the prologue as it's usually called, which John uses as an introduction to his gospel. So, as we kick off this new theme, you might be wondering what John is all about and why we should care about what he has to say today. And those are good questions, but I'd like to start with a few questions for you. How do you feel about your life? Have you ever felt unsatisfied with your life? Or, even when things were going well, that something was still missing? I know I've had those questions over the years. Not that good things haven't happened; certainly, many good things have happened in my life. But still, many people sense there must be something more to life, but what could it be? Well, a long time ago now, there was a man named John who was one of the closest friends of Jesus. John was an ambitious and hot-tempered young man when he started following Jesus. So much so that Jesus called John and his brother James the “Sons of Thunder.” At one point, John wanted to call down fire from heaven to destroy a city that wasn't very receptive to their message. He was ready to fight for the kingdom of God. But by the end of his long life, John became known as the Apostle of love. It really seems as if everything about his life had changed. He saw himself no longer with the hungry ambition to sit at Jesus' right or left hand in glory but simply as the disciple that Jesus loved. And he came to believe that God was not only loving as part of his character but that God himself is love. And he came to believe and teach that the main marker of a Christian, the most important thing that distinguishes the life of a disciple of Jesus, is their love for one another. If you grew up with John and met him later in life, you'd wonder, “How did this happen?” Well, how did John experience this kind of radical change in his life? It was Jesus. Jesus turned John's life upside-down. Jesus set him on a different path and walked with him until John understood and believed that Jesus came into the world so that we may have a new life, an eternal life, and have it to the full. Of course, this is what Jesus does. So why should we care about what he has to say today? Because John claims that the new life that he found — a life marked by God's power/presence/purpose — is available for all who believe, even for us today.

Is Traditional Church & Religion Distracting You from REAL LIFE CHANGE?!

ELITE PerforMENce with Dr. Brad

This is a topic I've been meaning to address for awhile. However, I have recently been very convicted to share, due to an overwhelming concern we may be placing our focus, and more importantly our dependence, on something that could be ultimately hindering our growth & development in our work and lives.   The reality is that we ALL want to live amazing lives…but I believe we are relying and depending on the wrong things and are ultimately going in the opposite direction of what will allow us to experience the amazing life we envision.   Here is what I know, and believe, beyond a shadow of a doubt, because it is true…   Consistent & Close Relationship with God will make EVERY AREA of life better!   Relationship with God Will make you a better man and the man you are looking to be. Psalms 37:4 makes it very clear…   “Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart”   Very simply put…'delighting in the Lord', means to build a healthy delightful relationship with the Lord…and you can expect life to get better (aka. the desires of your heart).   However, my concern is that people are NOT seeking RELATIONSHIP because they may be distracted by religion!!   I define religion as ‘the set of rules and regulations' one must follow to be in ‘right standing'.   Example: Because I know how powerful relationship with God is…when I ask someone to describe their personal relationship with to me…they immediately reply with something related to their attendance to up church.    MY CONCERNS: People(including us men) are relying more on religion than we are relationship with God People(including us men) are missing out on the real transformative power of a close relationship with God There is a misconception, within many that believe in God, that in order to live a life of success, significance, impact, fulfillment and meaning, that it you find this outside of relationship with God Let me make this clear. When you have a consistent and close relationship with God, he becomes your… Source of strength, energy, & fulfillment (providing endurance and happiness) Secret to peak performance in your work and life (providing more productivity) Solution to any problem or challenge you face (providing peace of mind) People live like their faith is a part or aspect of their life…instead of a way of life.   Therefore, this results in… Many church goers…not a lot of Christ followers Not enough examples of real men Christ followers for other men to model after   This idea of religion and traditional church vs relationship with God, what brought to my attention as a result of my personal story during the peak of the Covid pandemic in 2020. I noticed when the churches shut down, one of 2 things happened to peoples' faith: It decreased because their faith was dependent on ‘traditional church' It increased because they learned how to build a more personal relationship with God that was NOT dependent on traditional church. I experienced #2. And the more I developed a more personal relationship with God, I saw every area of my life (family, marriage, work, business, health) improve, including my ability to handle conflict and crisis.   THE CHALLENGE: Many are depending on church more than they are God Traditionally we have associated our faith with (1)church attendance, (2)serving in the church, and (3)tithing to the church. Therefore… Church has traditionally been perceived as the place where you go to worship God Many believers view service as primarily taking place within the walls of the church Tithing is associated with being a good ‘church goer' We feel like we are doing what we need to do for the ‘faith part of our lives', by checking those 3 boxes off of the list…and therefore believe we are doing what we need to do for our faith.   Yet unfortunately, many people still feel stress, depressed, unhappy, unfulfilled, life lacking meaning, don't know our purpose, making bad decisions, can't hit our goals, etc DESPITE checking off all the boxes of faith.   I once thought this exact same way…but here is what I discovered…   We often depend on religion and traditional church to replace the relationship God is seeking with us in order to transform us. Relationship is the answer…not religion and traditional church!   Don't get me wrong...i'm not saying church is bad! However, what I am saying is that it doesn't replace the thing that actually transforms you…it doesn't replace what you are ultimately looking for and need!   Example: Imagine being dehydrated. Water is what you need…water is what will rehydrate…water is the solution. However, if someone gave you orange juice instead…it would give you hydration, and maybe even some good flavor…but it IS NOT WATER! Don't get it confused…relationship with God is the water you need for the dehydration of your spiritual life. And dehydration looks like stress, unfulfillment, vices, bad habits, etc.   Church as we know it…is supplement, not sustenance! Relationship with God is sustenance! Nothing replaces it!   MY STORY: Once I realized this…my life drastically changed! I was no longer dependent on any place, event, or deed for a connected spiritual life. I became personally responsible for my faith and building this relationship as the foundation and sustenance for my life. This translated into showing up as a great husband to my wife, father to my children, leader at work, clarity in business & life…aka REAL LIFE CHANGE!   Nothing replaces relationship with God…not even church!   Spend DAILY TIME with God that is NOT DEPENDENT on anything but you and your time with Him. Build an actual relationship…I Dare you!! Watch what happens!     If you need help, book a 1:1 Discovery Call with me at https://drbradmd.com

A very religious people speak and make boasts in the name of God and the Lord Jesus Christ, but in their delusion they have no knowledge of the holy God and sovereign Saviour. They make up their own impotent gods in their evil and corrupt minds and the devil their father deceives them to believe they speak on behalf of the Almighty. They mislead many equally wicked followers to believe they are servants of the mighty God, yet they tell their gods what to do and issue wicked commands to them; they are NOT servants of the eternal God in heaven.  They have NOT stood in His counsel because of their wicked ways, corrupt and evil hearts, foul and deadly tongues, and their pride!  They cannot speak for the living holy God, but will perish in their own sins if they do not repent.

Proverbs 27:21 The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and a man is tested by his praise. 22 Crush a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, yet his folly will not depart from him. This passage is compelling to me… Of course a crucible is a hopper that metals are placed into and then heated until they melt and then pour into molds in order to form them into useful tools. Alright, what might we gain from these words of Solomon? Well, when the heat is on… impurities are separated from precious metals which makes them worth something when they were of no use before. I think this is the parallel that applies spiritually in our life. Troubles and trials have the potential to make us more pure and holy and in tune with the Lord. We saw this on a National scale with the 911 terrorist attack. The US found itself in a kind of crucible… people were scared and many turned to God… Many churches were packed with people. So brokenness points us to the Lord… Now, as he often does, Solomon adds something to this truth that I would not expect. He says a man is tested by his praise. I would have thought a man is tested by the troubles he faces… as we said… when the heat is on… when he’s in the crucible… So I think there is truth in that… but the test can begin long before the trouble arrives. As gold and silver even before the crucible and furnace… with their impurities… they stir up lust and greed don’t they? Then they are sent to the fire and the impurities can be removed. In a similar way, when a man receives praise the test is on. If he is a man with prideful impurities in his life, he will receive that glory gladly. His lust for popularity will cause him to fail the test. And what does Solomon tell us about pride? Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Remember King Nebuchadnezzar?… Daniel 4:28 All this came upon King Nebuchadnezzar. 29 At the end of twelve months he was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon, 30 and the king answered and said, “Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?” 31 While the words were still in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, “O King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom has departed from you, 32 and you shall be driven from among men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. And you shall be made to eat grass like an ox, and seven periods of time shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will.” 33 Immediately the word was fulfilled against Nebuchadnezzar... 34 At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation; … 37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble. So, yes, Solomon is right… a man is tested by his praise. For some the praise and the crucible that follows brings humility and holiness. For others reread today's passage in verse 22. Thankfully, all who look away from their own pride to Jesus receive his purity imputed to them. Ultimately, he took the crucible for us when he was crucified on the Cross… We are made pure by Jesus and practically we are his work in progress while in this body. Isaiah 53:4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

--Scrub to 12min for the start-- Have you ever felt like you just weren't good enough for God? Many followers of Jesus never accomplish much for the Kingdom because they don't feel like they're good enough for God to use. Maybe it's a medical challenge, a learning struggle, you don't know the Bible cover to cover, or you're new to faith. The difference between you and those you see God doing incredible things through has nothing to do with worth and everything to do with willingness. There are 4 primary characters in Judges chapter 4, 3 were willing, none were really worthy and 1 was just wrong, but all of them will inspire you to stop waiting until you're worthy and focus on being willing.

Today we live our heroes, on the sporting field, in politics and in movies. I was watching TV recently and saw an ad with a montage of the various stars of  Discovery channel shows and they start to applaud and when the shots pull back they are applauding doctors, nurses and first responders in this pandemic.   Suddenly we see the fact that real heroes are very often ordinary people who, through adverse circumstances, rise to do extraordinary things. Today want to examine the life of an ordinary, discouraged, oppressed even timid guy who became a judge, a leader and a conqueror. His name is Gideon.   SIX LESSONS ON FAITH FROM A FAITHLESS GUY   In Judges, we see the cycle of the nation of Israel’s fortunes. They rebel against God, God allows Adversity and oppression, in their pain they cry out to God, and God in His love sends a hero to rescue them. They repent, then fall away again and the whole cycle continues. Maybe this is how your life looks?   That’s where we meet an ordinary guy called Gideon, who has something to teach us about faith. He’s as oppressed and scared as the next guy with his situation, not an impressive hero at all, and I for one relate to that!   1.      GOD USES TOUGH TIMES TO GET OUR ATTENTION   This pandemic has driven some people away from God, and some of us towards Him. Either way, for the first time in a long time, He has our attention. People are not thinking about cars, houses, things, football or food, they are thinking about life, family and what really is important in this world.   But the end of Judges 5, we find the nation at peace, at ease and, as often happens, complacent and apathetic about God… Many of us just a few months ago. They had it all, and as it tends to happen to us all in such times, Israel forgot God. They became self-sufficient. They didn't need God.   So the Lord thought He’d shake things up a bit by rousing an enemy against them to show them how hard life can be without Him.   Judges 6:1-2 (ESV Strong's) The people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and the LORD gave them into the hand of Midian seven years. And the hand of Midian overpowered Israel, and because of Midian the people of Israel made for themselves the dens that are in the mountains and the caves and the strongholds.   So God sends these evil Midianites to oppress them for 7 years. The Midianites were a terrifying and warmongering tribe who raided and stole all the produce on the land, forcing the Israelites to live in fear and even retreat to caves to survive. And although these Israelites had largely forgotten God, and were back into idolatry by this stage worshipping Baal, in a pinch they turned back to the true God…   7 years, you might ask why they waited so long to turn back to the Lord? Because they're a lot like us - they waited until every other possible option played out and they couldn't take it any longer.   Judges 6:6 (ESV Strong's) And Israel was brought very low because of Midian. And the people of Israel cried out for help to the LORD.   How many times have hard circumstances come to us, and we never stop to ask what God is planning for us in those circumstances? Instead we hold out, thinking that we can handle it on our own. Learn this from Gideon: every experience in life is a test. And every trial in the lives of God's people is tailored to draw us closer to God, and grow faith in our hearts.   Here's the point: When tough times come, instead of looking at them as if God is punishing you, instead of whining and complaining about how tough life is, try to see them as God's gift of grace. A test, even a blessing to grow your faith.   C.S. Lewis said it like this, "God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains. It's His megaphone to rouse a deaf world."   Right now God is shouting to a unbelieving world, and to us who are Christians, and we need to hear Him and respond by turning to Him.   Hebrews 12:11-12 (ESV Strong's) For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees,   2.      GOD’S VIEW IS BIGGER THAN OURS   God sees far more than we do, and He is waiting for us to turn to Him. He sends an unknown prophet to call the people back to repentance, then He raises up an unknown and unlikely hero, called Gideon.   Gideon’s name actually means, “One who cuts down tress and destroys stuff,” But he was anything but that! He was frustrated, timid and scared.   Judges 6:11 (ESV Strong's) Now the angel of the LORD came and sat under the terebinth at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress to hide it from the Midianites.   Winnowing wheat should be done in a breezy area, not a hole in the ground. But so scared were the Israelites of Midian they resorted to compromise. And the angel of God, with ironic humour, says this…   Judges 6:12 (ESV Strong's) And the angel of the LORD appeared to him and said to him, “The LORD is with you, O mighty man of valor.”   God sees things inside us when we cannot. Here’s Gideon, threshing in a wine press, and he is greeted not as who he sees himself as, but as who God sees him becoming!   One of the biggest lies the devil sells us is that God only uses special people. If you are a born-again believer, you are God's child, royalty, a prince or a princes, and God says He has plans to prosper you. He says you are His workmanship, His masterpiece, and He is out there preparing opportunities for you to become the mighty man or woman of God you are destined to be!   Ephesians 2:10 (ESV Strong's) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.   God sees not who you are right now, but who you can become in Him.   3.      GOD CONFIRMS HIS PRIORITIES WITH HIS PRESENCE   Gideon felt like God had long abandoned them…   Judges 6:13 (ESV Strong's) And Gideon said to him, “Please, my Lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all his wonderful deeds that our fathers recounted to us, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has forsaken us and given us into the hand of Midian.”   Some of you feel like that right now. Isolated, lonely, socially distanced, many feel disconnected from the church, and from God. Gideon felt like that. It’s ok to feel like that, it’s just not ok to stay there. God looked him full in the face,   Judges 6:14 (ESV Strong's) And the LORD turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?”   Gideon then throws up his upbringing.   Judges 6:15 (ESV Strong's) And he said to him, “Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.”   Listen, whatever your family, your background, your failures or your past, destiny is determined not by circumstances, but by choices. If the devil tries to remind you of your past, try reminding him of his future! God’s reply was   Judges 6:16 (ESV Strong's) And the LORD said to him, “But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.”   When God calls you, He empowers you and even better, He walks the road with you. You are never alone. People ask where is God in all this COVID stuff, and I tell them I know where He is… Right here with me, walking the road!   God confirms His priorities with His presence. He says, I will be with you, and He doesn’t lie…   Numbers 23:19 (ESV Strong's) God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfil it?   But Gideons lack of faith began to shine through in his next words…   Judges 6:17 (ESV Strong's) And he said to him, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, then show me a sign that it is you who speak with me.   Many of us are like this, we doubt the promises of God. Gideon is talking directly to God, and has nothing but doubts and excuses. Here’s the thing… God didn’t zap him! God loved him, and showed grace by slowly building his faith. But once built, Gideon needed a test to prove to himself that God can use him to rescue his people.   4.      PERSONAL FAITH PRECEDES PUBLIC USEFULNESS   How could Gideon leads his people to victory when his own family were idolators. God isn’t God to Gideon’s people, Baal was!   So the first assignment from the Lord was to take his dad's prized bull and tear down the idols. Then, Gideon was to sacrifice said bull using the wood from the destroyed idol. Gideon did it, passed the test and kicked up a huge storm of reaction.   Why would this detail be in the Bible? To show us that, if we want to become great for God, we must first set our own house in order.   Before God can use you mightily, He must be magnified in your own life, in your own home. Private faith prepares us for public power from God, and there are no short cuts… Holiness is holiness.   Judges 6:27 (ESV Strong's) So Gideon took ten men of his servants and did as the LORD had told him. But because he was too afraid of his family and the men of the town to do it by day, he did it by night.   So there was still fear, but he stepped out and did it, scared or not. So is there anything you've been holding on to? Is there any sin that you're clinging to? Knock down your idols today. Confess your sin. Deal with it and return to full obedience to God and the God will use you to impact the world!   Will it stir things up when you do this? You bet, but God will honour those who honour Him! It happened for Gideon, and even his idolatrous father Joash began to change and stand up for his son and the Lord.   Judges 6:31 (ESV Strong's) But Joash said to all who stood against him, “Will you contend for Baal? Or will you save him? If he is a god, let him contend for himself, because his altar has been broken down.”   5.      GOD IS PATIENT WITH OUR FAITH   Now despite Gideon being touted in Hebrews as a hero of the faith, his story shows anything but a hero for a long time.  He passed the personal test of faith, and now people rallied to the cause of fighting Midianites, 32,000.   Judges 6:34 (ESV Strong's) But the Spirit of the LORD clothed Gideon, and he sounded the trumpet, and the Abiezrites were called out to follow him.   If this were a movie, he’d come up with a rousing speech, “We will fight them on the fields, on the ground, in the mountains, this is our finest hour, this is our Independence Day. But no, Gideon was busy doubting.   I’m like that as a pastor. You’re called, God has anointed you, but some days your faith just has the wind sucked out of it. It only takes a few words of criticism, a questioning glance, and suddenly you doubt that God’s even called you at all.   Even after his encounter with Almighty God, even though he had been obedient to clean shop at home, and even though the Holy Spirit was empowering him, Gideon still struggled with doubts. He knows that God has promised to save Israel through him, but he's looking in the mirror and the reflection he sees doesn't look encouraging.   God still doesn’t zap him. God doesn’t even chastise him for lack of faith. God loves him, and extends grace to him and meets his bizaar request about fleeces.   Judges 6:37-38 (ESV Strong's) behold, I am laying a fleece of wool on the threshing floor. If there is dew on the fleece alone, and it is dry on all the ground, then I shall know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said.” And it was so. When he rose early next morning and squeezed the fleece, he wrung enough dew from the fleece to fill a bowl with water.   A fleece is not faith, but it is faith building. Faithful people don’t need to put out a fleece, but sometimes some of us do.   Great… Fleece put out, God comes through, I’m ready to go Lord! Oops, maybe not…   Judges 6:39 (ESV Strong's) Then Gideon said to God, “Let not your anger burn against me; let me speak just once more. Please let me test just once more with the fleece. Please let it be dry on the fleece only, and on all the ground let there be dew.”   Again God does it to prove He is with him in power.  I love how loving, tender, and patient God is with us. Gideon is making a deal with God. He wants a confirming sign. I bet most of us are no different.   Why did God bother? Why not just say, I’ve had enough of your doubting attitude Gideon, I’m going to empower Joshua down the road instead of you.  That’s how we think God is with us, but when we genuinely have doubts, God loves us enough to persist… Not forever, but until our faith is stronger.   Our Lord was developing this man into a fully invested man of faith, matching each doubt with a kind reassurance. God will show you the same patience as well as you seek His face, dealing with each of your fears to grow you into a man or woman of God.   6.      VICTORY IS OBTAINED BY GOD’S POWER, NOT OURS   Gideon is good to go, it’s game on, and he heads off to war with his 32,000, knowing God is empowering him. But God has other plans. We think we know  best, we have ideas and opinions, but sometimes God just trumps them.   Judges 7:2-3 (ESV Strong's) The LORD said to Gideon, “The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel boast over me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’ Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, ‘Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return home and hurry away from Mount Gilead.’” Then 22,000 of the people returned, and 10,000 remained.   Brilliant God, just chop our numbers by 2/3. Why? Because God doesn’t want us to take the glory for ourselves, thinking we did it all! And God knows us so  well. Pastors think they are great because they have a big church. Business people who are successful praise their skills and hard work. Families where kids turn out good praise their parenting. Yes, our actions and abilities influence it, but no matter how good we think we are, it is all, every bit of it, a blessing from the Lord.   James 1:17 (ESV Strong's) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.   BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!   Only 10,000, but still God says that’s too many. Really God? Yes, He culls the army down by 9,700 men who stoop to drink from a river, leaving only those 300 who lapped water from their hands. Now God’s happy, and Gideons faith is stretched but holds…   Judges 7:7 (ESV Strong's) And the LORD said to Gideon, “With the 300 men who lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hand, and let all the others go every man to his home.”   God does this to us as He builds our faith. Little by little He teaches you to rely solely on Him. Ignite Church is scattered and stretched in this COVID time. My faith is stretched, and trying to restart live church is scary. It’s an unknown, and perhaps God is stripping us back to teach us to trust Him more. Jesus said,    Luke 18:27 (ESV Strong's) But he said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”   God created an impossible situation of human weakness to exalt His own strength. This is His specialty!   Accomplishing God's purposes is not determined by the bottom line on a finance sheet, or the size of our congregation, or the efficiency of our plans, or our skills, talents or determination. We need to attend to all those things, sure.   But the truth is, God is looking to glorify Himself on earth through people who are fully dependent on Him, who believe He is with them and are ready to charge the enemy in the name of the Lord!   God doesn't need a majority vote from us on this. He doesn't need us at all. But He loves us so much He invites us to join Him in doing His will. When we do, we reap the blessing and He gets the glory. D. L Moody said: "Give me ten men who fear nothing but sin and love nothing but God, and I shall change the world."   So Gideon led the 300 out with trumpets, torches, and jars to meet the crazy killers. God sent confusion into the ranks of the enemy so that they began attacking each other. When it was over, 120,000 Midianites had killed one another and the other 15,000 fled. God had answered Israel's prayers, and He did it all using a fearful, normal bloke who decided to trust God.   SO WHAT ABOUT US?   Gideon shows us that you don’t have to be a super Spiro to be used by God. You don’t need a Bible degree, a ton of money or extreme talent.   God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things, and in this extraordinary time, I believe God wants to use you. You don’t need anything special, just a heart for God, a phone, a Facebook account and it also helps to have a church who believes in you.   But you need 2 things… A heart devoted to God, and I mean really devoted, not just “Hey God, can you get me this,” But, “I’ll serve with everything I have no matter what.” And the second thing you need is faith, faith to step out and believe God, faith to stand when others fall, faith no matter if you get what you want or not.   I know many of you watching want to be used by God. Maybe you struggle with faith. Pray with me and let’s commit ourselves to the Lord to use us as a church over the next many months to shine God’s love.

The Desire to Destroy• Famous street artist Banksy has published a video, revealing how he secretly built a shredder into one of his paintings years ago and showing the moment it got ripped to shreds, after selling at auction for $1.1mn at Sotheby’s.• “The urge to destroy is also a creative urge,” wrote Banksy, citing a leading anarchist theorist of the nineteenth century, Mikhail Bakunin, but attributing the quote to the famous painter Pablo Picasso. What Went Wrong in the Garden?• The issue of violence extends as far back as the garden in Genesis 3. But why?• God creates the whole world, He creates a garden, puts humans in it. There’s this tree; they’re not supposed to eat from it. The serpent tells them to eat the fruit, they do, that’s bad, they must be out of the garden now. And so, because of that, that guilt is then passed down to all humans, including me and you, and there’s nothing good about us now.• In this interpretation, the main problem is humans are guilty of sin. God therefore decrees death to all of us. God wants to kill us (an act of violence?)• But why is there a serpent?• There is more to the story behind the scenes.• It is not just Adam and Eve eating the apple deserving of death. The Cosmological Notion• Ancient Israel, for whom Genesis is written, lives by the notion that there is a heavenly realm of divine beings (polytheism).• This is the mindset of Israel and her neighbors.• The basis of Genesis is … there is one God (Yahweh) and other gods (Elohim?).• There is a realm of other spirit beings (Yahweh’s council?)• Yahweh, the high God almighty, speaking to other spirit beings, “let us make man in our image” (Genesis 1:26). The purpose is so “they may rule” (have dominion).• Adam and Eve are not just first humans but are the first kings and queens on earth.• The garden is an ancient motif of the new dwelling place of God.• In the ancient world gods lived on the mountaintops and lush gardens.• Now the best of the best (the garden), has new kings and queens. Why Does the Serpent Show Up?• Where does he/she/it come from? There is something going on before the creation account in Genesis.• There is the presence of other “divine” beings.• There is another realm before the Garden of Eden.• The act of tempting the humans to eat from the tree is to energize an act of rebellion against the high God.• The humans are being sucked into an act of war and rebellion.• Now they are given a taste of evil and introduced to the desire to destroy.• Why is there an evil figure in the Garden?• There is a jealousy that the job to rule the creation is given to humans not to the nachash (serpent).• There is a bitterness against God’s decision.• Now it becomes a battle for power.• This isn’t about animals.• It is about two orders of beings in conflict with each other.• This isn’t about humans vs. snakes but the first element of violence based on bitterness, jealousy, hatred, etc.• The idea in the curse on the “serpent” is that there will be ongoing hostility, warfare in the human experience.• The serpent is calling the humans to join the rebellion with the rest of the supernatural beings.• The supernatural beings end up getting worshiped in a form of idolatry as the gods of the nations.• Paul will end up calling this rebellion “principalities and powers” (Ephesians 6:12)Connections between the divine rebellion and earthly kings• Ezekiel 28:1-17• A judgment against the king of Tyre• Compared to the nachash (serpent) in the Garden to illuminate the judgment against the earthly king.• There is a story in the mind of the author of a rebellion to take the high place of God, yet the story is not in our Bible.• It is found in the book of Enoch (chapters 6 and 7)• Isaiah 14:4-15• A judgment against the king of Babylon• Connecting one of the ringleaders of the divine rebellion to the early kingThe gods are involved• There is a battle going on even before human beings' step onto the stage of history.• In the early development of the Bible, the Israelites believed in many gods.• The technical term is monolatry• There is only one God worthy of worship• It is not the same as monotheism (belief there is only one God)• Many gods exist (Elohim) but only one is worthy of worship (Yahweh)• Psalm 95:1-4• Psalm 82:1• Exodus 12:12• The plural construction (Elohim) translated “let us” (Gen. 1:26-28) reflects the divine council (1 Kings 22:19-22; Isaiah 6; Job 1-2).• In Genesis 1:26-28, God the King announces the proposed course of action to His cabinet of subordinate deities, though He alone retains the power of decision.• Behind the text is the cultural belief of the battle of the gods in Genesis 1-3.• This is also reflected in the Babylonian creation account.• In this myth, creation is an act of violence.Frolicking Gods• In the beginning, according to the Babylonian account, Apsu, the father god, and Tiamat, the mother god, give to the gods.• The frolicking of the younger gods makes so much noise that the elder gods resolve to kill them so they can sleep.• The younger gods uncover the plot before the elder gods put it into action, so they kill Apsu. His wife pledges revenge. Terrified by Tiamat, the younger gods turn to their youngest member, Marduk to kill Tiamat.• In the Babylonian myth, violence is no problem.

Is the Bible really the Word of God? Many in our culture would claim that the Bible is really just a power-play; the theological preference of those who happened to win the battle for doctrinal supremacy. Others would say that the Bible is merely one example among many of God's words to humanity. But the testimony of the Christian Church is that the Bible is the definitive, authoritative, final Word of God. But how do we know? How do we have confidence that this particular book, and no other book, is God's Word? How do we know that that it is really God's Word and not someone else's? Please join us as we seek to find answers to these questions in the second week of our sermon series on the Bible: "The Book."

The LORD always has a “path” for you to take―if you will listen and obey―so that you can be healthy, blessed and productive! ___________________________________________________________ GOD IS GOING TO DELIVER YOU AND MULTIPLY YOUR RESOURCESDIFFERENT PLANS FOR DIFFERENT TIMES God is going to deliver you from that situation that is confronting you and multiply your resources … if you will listen and obey. Have you ever wondered why God deals with you differently at different times in your life? God has different plans―not only for different people―but for you. It seems like Elijah the prophet went through a lot of experiences that could have been traumatic to other people, but to Elijah, they were just visitations from God. Just another chance to see God work and get to know Him better. Elijah, thanked God for his experiences because he knew it was just another chance to be seeing the hand of God manifested. He thanked God for the privilege not only to be used by God, but to be provided for by the living God. I wonder, will you give God the glory ahead of time for saving you from that problem in your life? Will you thank God for the chance to see Him work and to get to know Him better today? And then will you allow God to multiply your resources through this next “mountain moving” event? Remember when God told Elijah to hide after he had delivered a message to the leader of the nation? God sent him to the brook and commanded the ravens to feed him there, but an amazing thing happened. After a while the brook dried up. Has God ever told you to do something and you've moved out in obedience and then it seemed like the opposite should have happened. It seemed like that if you were to figure it out or if you were to design it in the natural, you would have done it the opposite. But I'll tell you, God doesn't work the way man works. God's ways are not our ways. God's thoughts are above our thoughts and thank Him for that. Elijah probably wondered if he'd really listened to God. He might have said, "God, why in the world did you lead me here and then dry the brook up?" But Elijah was just eating his prayers. You remember, he had just told the leader of the nation that God was going to cut off the rain. Did you ever realize that the situation you're in right now may be the result of your own prayers? Have you ever eaten your prayers before? Well, I'm sure that we eat our prayers more than we realize, not just in a negative sense, but in a positive sense. But God is allowing situations in your life ... in answer to your prayers to bring you to a full maturity in Christ. God wants you to be productive. He wants you to be a tool, sharpened for His use. Did you ever visit a factory, or possibly work in one? Wherever there's great productivity, you'll find waste and sometimes dirt; wherever there is productivity, there's energy expended: one of the basic laws of thermodynamics. But our God can even take the waste and make it productive. The Bible tells us in Second Samuel Chapter 22, verse 33, "God is our strength and our power and He makes our way perfect." There's a reason for the different situations that you and I come up against in life … or I should say the different situations that God allows to be in front of us. Different options that God designs for you and for me. You see, we're custom made―were designed for this time in history. “Option A” for Elijah was a trip to the brook. To drink of the water and to be fed by the ravens ... but then the water ran out. There was no need for Elijah to be alarmed, no need for him to become fearful―and there's no need for you to be alarmed today or fearful. Don't be anxious! Just place everything in God's control, and you will find that God will work for your best. God will allow you to produce … and He will allow you to receive MIRACLES! Yes, Elijah was merely eating his prayers. Now it was time for “Option B” in Elijah's life. God told him to go to Zarephath next, to a widow lady. I think Elijah probably pulled his hair and said, "God, why in the world? Here we are again in another situation. Why don't you ever explain to me ahead of time, God?" Many times God would give his prophet the message for the leaders of the nation, and for the prophecies that should go forth to other of God's people. Many times God would speak to his man about things in the future―but so often the things in his own personal life―Elijah had to wonder about. And here, Elijah was at that place again. Elijah thought, “Here, I am at the brook. You sent me here and it dried up, God.” And then, all of a sudden, the Holy Spirit dropped a thought in his mind. Elijah, that's just what you told the king. So here we went. This time Elijah was directed to go to the widow lady―“Option B” in his life. A new transition … again―God tugging at his roots again―God moving in the depth of his spirit again. And I wonder today ... could you be like Elijah? You may be a mighty man or a mighty woman of God; but are you getting your roots planted into your geographic environment BUT God is saying move? Elijah was just getting used to the clockwork of the ravens. That's dangerous for a servant of God. That's religion. Are YOU, my friend, just getting settled in your ministry? Are you just becoming comfortable as a spirit-filled Believer? If you are, it MAY be time for “Option B” in your life. If so, God will save you from that situation today AND He will multiply your resources. REMEMBER DIFFERENT PLANS FOR DIFFERENT TIMES LISTEN AND OBEY THANK GOD AHEAD OF TIME Remember, when you couldn't make it at your best, Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) died for you at your worst. _________________________ FREE BOOK OFFER My friend, I want to give you a FREE book. Pastor Lynn continues our series on "Who Switched the Price Tags: The power of sin or the Power of God?" Many times as Christians we say that the power of God is greater in our lives but we live like the power of sin is greater. We act or talk like God can't rescue me from my sin! We can fall into the deception the world and the enemy feeds us that there are some sins, addictions, or problems that we simply can't have victory over. But Jesus' work defeated sin, death, and the curse. He gave us power to be overcomers no matter the problem, challenge or situation. Come and be challenged to live the powerful and abundant life Jesus paid for on the cross.

We are in week 17 of our sermon series on the book of Ecclesiastes. This week is the last of four weeks that have gone together to provide an overall view of life, money, and satisfaction. The overarching theme of the past few weeks has been the following question, “Have you ever thought about how much you need God?” Many times we do not live in a place where we consistently remember how much we need to trust Jesus and His grace over us. Most of the time we live our lives and only think about God when something or someone falls apart around us. We do not live with a consistent, Gospel-centered life of surrender; trusting in the person of Christ. DOWNLOAD PDF SERMON NOTES HERE

Your Faith Journey - Finding God Through Words, Song and Praise

Over the past few weeks, I feel as though we have been living what one theologian calls “the Saturdays of our lives.”  The Saturdays of our lives represent those desperate places in life between the crucifixion of Good Friday and the resurrection of Sunday.  They represent the stench of death we have experienced and felt over the past few weeks.  They represent the wilderness of despair.  They represent those places in life where what is crystal clear is the suffering and the pain and the agony and the chaos, and where Sunday, the resurrection and the promise of new life, seems like a fantasy or fairytale that is certainly nowhere in sight.  Living in the Saturdays of our lives is a difficult place to live.  And, that desperate place of despair – that is the context for our reading from Isaiah on this day.  It was the 8th century BCE and the people were in a dark place.  The Assyrians had swept in.  They had captured the Israelites and forced them to scatter throughout the empire.  It was, in essence, yet another wilderness experience and the people were asking that despairing question, “Where is God?” Many had lost their faith and it was there, in the anguish, that God came to the people of Israel. God met them right where they were, made God’s presence known to them through the prophet Isaiah, and gave them words of hope they desperately needed to hear.  God gave them words of hope and promise that ring down through the centuries to provide the words we so desperately need to hear on this day.  It is interesting that when the Bible deals with matters of death, it talks about them in terms of the future.  It offers words of hope in terms of a future that is out in front of us but not yet here.  The Bible often does this by means of poetic writings and visions.   And, in Isaiah, we hear these beautiful, poetic, hope-filled words of a future day when God throws a big party, when the “Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food.”  We hear the hope-filled words of a future day when God will destroy “the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations.”  We hear of that future day when God will swallow up death forever, wipe away the tears from all faces and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth!  Oh, these are hope-filled words we so desperately need to hear in the Saturdays of our lives.  Then, in our reading from the Book of Revelation, we are given another vision of the future as the writer describes a whole new heaven and new earth.  And, what is so interesting about this vision is that it is about the future of ALL things.  It is about an amazing future that God is creating where the chaos and pain and destruction of this present time will be no more!  Oh, we need to hear the promise of this future as we experience Saturdays of our lives!    But, wait.  There is yet another story of hope and promise!  On this day, we are also told of the raising of Lazarus when the very shroud of Lazarus is cast off.  Oh, we need to hear these words because the stench of death and the roiling chaos reeks all around us.    Lazarus, Jesus’ close friend, has died.  Mary and Martha knew their brother, Lazarus, would not have died had Jesus been present.  They are living and experiencing the Saturdays of their lives.  And, like us, we discover Mary using the “if only” phrase as she kneels at Jesus feet saying, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”  Then, as Jesus responds to Mary’s weeping, we are confronted with the harsh but ultimately comforting truth of the situation.  In this moment of darkness, this moment that renders God’s Word silent, we find that Jesus himself weeps.  It is in this moment that we discover the incarnate God who weeps with us as Jesus reveals the passion and love of a powerless yet seemingly almighty God.  And, in this moment, Jesus reveals one of the most important characteristics we can ever learn about the heart of God: "Jesus weeps."  When Jesus experienced Mary and Martha weeping for their dead brother Lazarus, he was "deeply moved in spirit and troubled." The God whom Christians worship is not a remote and aloof "sky god" somewhere out there. No, God is a tender God who is deeply moved, even grieved, by anything and everything that threatens our human well-being.  In this moment, we discover God with us, a God who even weeps with us.  And, oh, as we experience the Saturdays of our lives, we need to hear these words! But, the story does not end there.  Jesus commands them to take away the stone blocking the entrance to the tomb.  Now, there is nothing pretty about death.  Death brings decay, rotting and stench.  Oils and spices applied to a dead body would have held unpleasant odors at bay for a while, but after four days the stench would have been overpowering.  And, so it was with Lazarus.  Martha becomes the realist as she says, “Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days.”  However, Jesus responds by saying, “Take away the stone,” and with those words we cannot help but be reminded of Jesus’ coming resurrection.  Oh, yes, we need to hear these words in the Saturdays of our lives. When Jesus cries out with a loud voice saying, “Lazarus, come out!” he heralds a stunning new possibility as the stench of death meets the fragrance of the resurrecting power of God’s Son.  It is fascinating that the Greek verb used for come out occurs only eight times in the whole Greek Bible, six of which are in John.  And, it is used four times for the shouts of the crowd that cries out to crucify Jesus.  So, isn’t it interesting that while the crowd’s shouts will bring death to Jesus, Jesus’ shout brings life to Lazarus!  Lazarus, the dead man, emerges from his tomb, bound from head to foot in burial wrappings.  Jesus then commands that these burial wrappings, the last remnants of death, be removed as he says, “Unbind him, and let him go.”  The shroud, that death sheet that had been spread over Lazarus’ body, is removed and the stench of death is gone.  Oh, we need to hear these words in the Saturdays of our lives. My friends, Lazarus is us.  Bound by death in our current lives, we are called to life by Jesus who is the Light and the Life of the world.  And, it is from the light of Easter dawn that we confront the darkness of death.  Jesus stands at the edge of the Saturdays of our lives, at the edge of our tomb, the many tombs in which we presently exist, as we shrink from being fully alive.  Jesus stands shouting, “Come out!”  He calls us to come out and walk into the light of day, pulling free of our grave clothes as we go.  From the other side of Christ’s resurrection, we gain the courage, not to deny death, but to be honest about its ability to cripple us.  We gain the courage to not let the fear of death distort our lives, but to walk through it and figure out ways to integrate it into our lives.  As we do this, we walk placing our faith in the Risen Christ who has promised us that death does not have the last word.  And, knowing that death is not the last word, we are free to live.  We can stare death and darkness in the face and even embrace its reality as a part of earthly living – even in our grief, and even in our pain.  Oh, yes, we need to hear these words on this day! Friends, we are Lazarus, and the good news is that, in Holy Baptism, we have been joined to Christ’s death and resurrection.  And, we have been promised not only life eternal but also abundant life right here and right now.  We are called to live as though the Eternal were now because God is, and because God is present to us here and now.  We are called to live as though we belong to God, in life and in death.  We are called to live fully alive because we have been given the promise that neither death nor life, nor things present nor things to come, nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.  So, we can let go of the despair and the fear.  We can let go of all that holds us in the Saturdays of our lives because the future God holds out before us is not dominated by death.  It is one of life and God calls us into life!  Oh, yes, we so desperately need to hear these words in the Saturdays of our lives!

What does it really mean to have a relationship with God? Many people who seek God are faced with the challenge of making a personal connection with him that is unique, and separate from the traditions they learned growing up. A person who is used to making conversation by making small talk or jokes may have a hard time feeling like they are actually engaging in a conversation with God if it is mostly comprised of ritualistic behavior. Coming Home is a new series of episodes for our Deep Spirituality podcast that explores what it means to make God your home. Home is where you go when you're tired, lonely, looking for security, or just don't know where else to go. Coming home to God means letting go of the expectations we place on ourselves that may come from family or religious institutions, and allowing our genuine interest and desire for spiritual connection to drive our behavior instead. Russ Ewell sits down with Cameron Straw, David Traver, and Parker Allen to talk about our context and how that shapes how we view God and how we approach our relationship with God. In the end we hope to walk with God as we go through life, uninhibited and free to build a deep connection with God to transforms who we are from the inside out.

Exit the stadium, leave the church. Shared identity,Do you know why you go to a sporting event? TO WATCH THE GAMEDo you know why you go to church? TO WORSHIP GODJohn 4:23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.Sports are wrong worship to a wrong God- Many churches worship wrong God as wellWe want to worship the right God in the right way. What is worship? A decision to make everything about thanking God for everythingWe see that in 1 Sam 2:1-11 READWhat do we see from that? HANNAH WORSHIPPED GOD. We should worship GODWhat did we just see in the song of Hannah? A heart of worship!Now- don’t think that Hannah had an easy life. Remember she was barren. She was attacked for her barreness, and her husband was clueless. She was hurting. She was sad. She had a broken heart, anguish and resentment. She was at war with others, herself and GodYOU- Why do people attack me? Why do I hate myself? Why wont God give me what I want?Common story even today- But NOW her worship shows she has been transformed! She was THANKFUL for what God had done. She SAW God for who he was. She wad DEPENDENT on him. Here’s what Hannah had based on her worship: A heart that worships, knows protection, sees a Holy God, wants life change ,sees strength in God, sees God’s provision, sees God’s sovereignty, sees God’s dominion, sees God’s justice, sees God’s plan to install an eternal King- JesusHere’s the biggest thing- the response from Hannah for having God move in her life was to WORSHIP- To be THANKFUL. To have God be BIGGER than HER and HER ProblemsShe didn’t just take what she was given and go on her merry way- she WORSHIPPED GODThis is what AW Tozer said– “Sometimes I go to God and say ‘ God, if you never answer another prayer while I live on this earth, I will still worship you as long as I live and in the ages to come for what you have done already’ God’s already put me so far in debt, that if I were to live one million millenniums I couldn’t pay him for what he’s done for me” This is a heart of worship! Our Verse: Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God made the heavens and the earth. It's hard to watch any science show on TV or a movie without hearing this phrase. “Millions and millions of years”, our acronym- MAMOY…The phrase is a clever device to help people not be responsible to God. One of the New Testament writers says that men are "willingly ignorant” of the things of God” Many humans choose not to believe. It's just too painful to concede that God truly exists and made the heavens and the earth. Because if He did, every single person is responsible to Him, their Creator. One way people avoid being responsible to God is the “theory” of evolution. First claimed true in 1859, it's believers needed millions of years for the theory to work. Now, 159 years later, modern followers keep adding more millions, claiming 150 to 200 million years! Why? Because for any possibility of evolution happening, you need an immense amount of time. Scientists claiming the faith of evolution need more time! Just remember it is a theory not a fact! One part of MAMOY faith is transitional species, (Sadly, there are none!) Some proposed the “hopeful monster” theory. Evolutionist R. Goldschmidt opined “that a reptile laid an egg that a bird hatched out of.” Another problem is the missing bones. If animals and people had populated earth for MAMOY (millions and millions of years) there would be immense piles of their bones world wide. Where are those pesky bones? They simply don't exist! A much simpler and solid hypothesis is built on believing what God wrote us in His book. His first words to us: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Seeing the complexity of human and animal life, we know there is a Creator. So...before you unthinkingly accept a theory claiming MAMOY (millions and millions of years), consider God and the huge volume of evidence from our Creator!

The Attributes of God Many suggest that all religions worship the same God. The truth, however, is that each religion defines God VERY differently. Scripture reveals the true God very clearly and makes bold demands of us to look to Him alone.

The sermon was delivered on Sunday, September 20, 2015, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Barbara Prose, Executive Director of Ministry. SERMON DESCRIPTION What does it mean to be made in the image of God? Many have said it’s our intelligence that is God given and distinguishes us from all other species. But what if it’s our creativity? What if it’s not “I think, therefore I am,” but “I imagine, therefore I am?” Then our purpose on earth is simplified and becomes to create – as we sing about every Sunday - something that is good, true and beautiful. Come this Sunday to explore how creativity and family life, creativity and aging, creativity and purpose are intertwined and how we can prime our brains to unlock what is creative in us. Founders use of God Many things that were part of the founding of our country revolved around God. Many liberals now can't stand to even say the word God, let alone acknowledge the God exists, even though many of them say they are Christians. What does this say about their definition of what a Christian is? Being a Christian means that you believe in the word of God, have given your life to bring glory to God, repented of your sins, have accepted Jesus Christ as your savior, and strive everyday to be more like Christ. Wanting to be nice to other people does not make you a Christian. Going to church does not make you a Christian. Taking from others to give to people you think should have more, does not make you a Christian. Liberals have not been given the authority to decide who has too much and who should get some of what others have.

What does it take to have a relationship with God? Many people are not sure. Maybe they’ve never read the Bible. Or, they read it but didn’t understand it, and no one has sat down with them and explained it to them. Or, maybe they went to a church that did not teach what is in the Bible. Let's open up God’s Word and hopefully clear up some of the confusion, because knowing that we are right with God and have a relationship with Him is the most important question of our lives!
