In addition to his own wide-ranging work as a recording artist, he has written well-known songs such “Every Heartbeat,” which was a major pop hit for Amy Grant, and “In the Light,” which is best known for the version recorded by DC Talk. He's responsible for developing and producing the Grammy Award-winning duo The Civil Wars and the Modern Rock band Switchfoot, including their multi-platinum Top 40 pop hit “Dare You to Move.” Peacock launched his career as an artist on the Northern California jazz scene before recording his debut album, Lie Down in the Grass, which was released by A&M Records in the mid-1980s. After a stint with Island Records, he moved to Nashville to work as an artist and producer. His 1990 album, The Secret of Time, earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Rock/Contemporary Gospel Album. In that decade, he produced nearly 50 albums for other artists, and was named the Gospel Music Association's Producer of the Year for three consecutive years. The long list of artists he has produced includes Nicole Nordeman, David Crowder, Holly Williams, The Lone Bellow, Al Green, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. He has produced a wide range of music for film and television, including the Mandy Moore film A Walk To Remember, Chris Cornell's "Misery Chain" from the soundtrack of Twelve Years a Slave, and "Hush," the title theme to the AMC drama Turn: Washington's Spies, featuring Joy Williams and Matt Berninger of The National. As an artist, he returned to jazz with the Love Press Ex-Curio album in 2005 before embracing vocal music once again with his 2012 album No Man's Land. In late 2015, Peacock was appointed the Director of Contemporary Music and Industry Outreach at Lipscomb University's College of Arts and Entertainment in Nashville. An author of several books, his forthcoming memoir will explore his musical life, while  his latest album as an artist, Every Kind of Uh-Oh, will be released at the end of August.

How do you operationalize sustainability in the semiconductor industry where rapid innovation and faster product life cycles add ever-changing complexities to the supply chain? For Michele Dumais, Manager within the Supply Chain Management practice at Deloitte Consulting, it's all about driving data, collaboration, and ensuring supply chain practitioners are involved in strategic planning. Polly Mitchell-Guthrie, VP of Industry Outreach and Thought Leadership at Kinaxis, joins Michelle to discuss the challenges of improving sustainability within the semiconductor industry. They discuss practical strategies to incorporate sustainability into existing capabilities and processes, the evolving role of AI in harnessing data and how everyone from engineers to suppliers can make an earth-friendly impact.Michelle says one of the biggest challenges semiconductor organizations face when it comes to embracing sustainability is properly managing big data throughout the different supplier tiers to address the biggest sources of emissions. It becomes especially tricky on a global scale because there are different ways to collect the data and questions regarding standardization. [06:15]Michelle says that it's particularly difficult for semiconductor organizations because scope 3 emissions usually occur outside of a supply chain's internal operations, but the good news is companies are starting to review the data through advanced dashboards for increased visibility, and AI can help create suggestions on how to best use that data to move toward sustainability goals. [8:53]To begin operationalizing sustainability initiatives, Michelle states that companies should begin with four main areas: getting the right data; alignment with their internal team to work towards a sustainability strategy that isn't siloed; assess their capabilities and update processes; and look at readiness in terms of having the right talent, processes and technology in place. [12:55]To hear more from Michelle and Polly about navigating sustainability challenges in the semiconductor industry, listen to our Big Ideas in Supply Chain Podcast. To learn more about the work Michelle is doing at Deloitte Consulting, you can follow her on LinkedIn.

Operationalizing sustainability is critical as most carbon emissions in companies are found within the supply chain. As new pressures emerge to reduce environmental impacts, supply chain practitioners are eager to know how their organizations plan to address these issues. Deborah Dull, Vice President and Global Supply Chain Sustainability Leader at Genpact, and Josué Velázquez Martínez, Director, Sustainable Supply Chain & LIFT research Labs at MIT, join Polly Mitchell-Guthrie, VP of Industry Outreach and Thought Leadership at Kinaxis, to discuss how making sustainability operational provides critical data to inform business and supply chain decisions that fuel growth while making a positive impact on the planet.Deborah is currently working on introducing carbon data into planning and operational systems to build carbon knowledge (also known as carbon intuition) into a supply chain professionals' day-to-day life. This will give them a better idea of their supply chain's current environmental impacts. She says, “We often know what the cogs are of something or how long it takes a container ship from China to the Port of LA, but we don't know the carbon emissions of that lane.” [9:02]Josué says a major challenge for companies looking to solve sustainability by following aggregate methods to estimate emissions may not be making the best decisions based on that information. He says it's important to look at the big picture to provide strategic solutions involving accurate metrics and transparency. [11:44]When looking towards the future of sustainability both Deborah and Josué are optimistic. Deborah says achieving sustainability within the supply chain is possible because the tools exist to do it and supply chain practitioners are experts at problem solving. Josué says sustainability isn't just a simple problem that needs to be solved now – it's an issue that we need to resolve for the future. He encourages supply chain practitioners to keep their eyes open for vulnerabilities within their supply chains that may make it unsustainable. Jennifer also discusses how she’s positioning the organization during this tough time of social distancing and what she’s focused on for the rest of the year.  Episode Highlights: Jennifer talks about her foundation as a writer and how that has helped her find new ways to tell company stories FayeBSG recently merged with another company, so the organization has been involved with a transition on the marketing side. Jennifer spearheads the content initiatives at FayeBSG where they focus on a lot of industry research to inform their customer base. Depending on the size of the organization, FayeBSG can have several different ideal customer profiles. In a lot of cases, their services are sparked by the need to evaluate and rollout a new technology stack. Jennifer discusses the key messages FayeBSG is sharing with prospects and customers during the social distancing period that is in place.  Jennifer pointed out that everyone has slightly different working hours now and it’s important to create content that can be consumed at any time (webinars, podcasts, etc.). Jennifer is focused on creating content that isn’t too “pushy” right now and is focused on helping sales professionals navigate conversations with prospects. Jennifer’s team has operated in a remote environment for awhile, so many of her day-to-day activities haven’t changed with social distancing rolling out.                                              Key Points: In times of crisis and uncertainty, we wanted our messaging just to be like…”we’re here for you.” Right now, it’s important to create virtual experiences, podcasts and webinars...because everyone’s hours are different. In this type of situation, there is growth that can come out of this period. Everyone can take a step back and test out new technologies that might be more effective moving forward. Hi Podcast Listeners! Contest Note: thecelebritycafe.com is hosting a contest where you can win a free copy of Ryan's Break the Business Book. Go check it out! In the first segment, Ryan and Dave talk about comedian Mike Birbiglia's NY Times Article "6 Tips for Making it Small in Hollywood. Or Anywhere." Even though Birbiglia's article mainly focuses on achieving success in comedy and writing, his lessons are also important ones for independent artists to hear. In the second segment, musician and industry expert Dave Cool drops by. Dave is the Director of Artist and Industry Outreach at Bandzoogle, a platform that allows artists to create a website and manage their content and merchandise. Ryan talks to Dave about building websites and also talks to him about his e-book "23 Ways Musicians Can Make Money." In the interview, Dave talks about the wide variety of (often unknown) revenue streams that indie artists have available to them to effectively monetize their career. Check out more of Dave Cool's work by visiting www.davecool.ca. In the final segment, Dave (our co-host, not Dave Cool) and Ryan talk about the new book "Powerhouse," which chronicles the exciting (and often shocking) history of Hollywood's Creative Artists Agency. Ryan and Dave then close with a rousing game of "Canada Town or Hoser Talk," with your host CanaDave. Thank you all very much for listening.
