When you open your Match Day envelope, you step into an orthopedic surgery field that looks nothing like it used to. John E. Klibanoff, an orthopedic surgeon, discusses his article "Navigating your orthopedic surgery residency after Match Day," published on KevinMD. He explains why nobody will care about your physiology grade or your rotation honors once you start residency, and why the old archetype of the tall, athletic, Northeast-raised orthopedic surgeon no longer describes the field. You will hear how AI and short online snippets have collapsed a week of attending-to-attending research into thirty minutes over coffee, how impaction devices and minimally invasive tools have opened recon and spine surgery to surgeons of any stature, and why younger faculty and peer networks are replacing top-down lectures. Klibanoff also explains why mentorship and adaptability matter more than competitiveness, and why patients now arrive with hours of their own research to bring into the room. Listen to hear what actually earns you the craft of orthopedic surgery after Match Day. Partner with me on the KevinMD platform. AI-Powered Misinformation and Financial Scams: Fake Opportunity, Authority, and UrgencyHosts Josh Sheluk and Colin White of Barenaked Money welcome back misinformation researcher and author Matthew Facciani (Misguided) to discuss current misinformation trends, especially how AI scales personalized scams across social media, email, and increasingly convincing audio deepfake phone calls. Facciani outlines three common scam patterns—fake opportunity, fake authority, and fake urgency—and shares examples of AI-tailored job-offer and book-club scams that quickly pivot to small fees. He recommends habits and tools to reduce risk: pause and reflect before reacting emotionally, avoid clicking links, verify credentials via official sources, use lateral reading to check independent coverage and digital footprints, and leverage tools like reverse image search, the Wayback Machine, and URL checks. The conversation also covers identity and network overlap as drivers of bias, plus Facciani's interactive tools for mapping identity complexity and social network diversity.Click here to view the episode transcript. Speaker: Rob BerrethScripture: Matthew 5:17–20Episode Overview:Jesus' words in Matthew 5:17–20 can sound overwhelming at first: a righteousness greater than the scribes and Pharisees is required to enter the kingdom of heaven. Rather than lowering God's standard, Jesus reveals something far better—He fulfills it. Every command, every promise, and every detail of God's Word finds its completion in Him. Where the law exposes our inability, Christ provides perfect obedience and a righteousness that is given by grace through faith.Because Jesus has fulfilled the law down to the smallest detail, believers are not crushed by its demands. Instead, they are freed to follow God's commands with new purpose and new power. The same Savior who secures forgiveness also transforms lives. With the burden of guilt removed and the Spirit at work within, obedience becomes the grateful response of those who already belong to Christ.Key Highlights:• Jesus Fulfills the Law and the ProphetsEvery command and promise of the Old Testament points forward to Christ, who perfectly accomplishes what humanity could never achieve.• The Standard Is Perfect RighteousnessScripture makes clear that failing even one point of the law leaves us guilty—showing our need for a Savior who keeps it completely.• A Righteousness Given, Not EarnedThrough faith, the righteousness of Christ is credited to believers, securing entrance into the kingdom of heaven.• Two Misunderstandings of GraceLegalism tries to add human effort to Christ's finished work, while antinomianism dismisses the transforming power of grace.• Freed to FollowThose who trust in Christ's righteousness are not burdened by the law but liberated to pursue obedience out of love for God.• Help for the JourneyThe finished work of Christ removes the burden of guilt, and the Holy Spirit empowers believers to grow in Christlike obedience.Call to Action:Take time this week to reflect on where you are tempted to rely on your own performance before God. Instead of striving to prove yourself, rest in the righteousness that Christ has already accomplished. From that place of grace, ask the Spirit to shape your heart so that obedience flows not from fear or pressure, but from gratitude and love for the One who fulfilled the law on your behalf.Redeemer Church211 Northshore Dr. Bellingham, WA 98226www.redeemernw.org

In part two of this extended conversation, Jeremy continues his discussion with Dr. Ken Castor as they work through more real questions from volunteer youth workers. This episode focuses especially on students who don't fit the typical youth ministry mold (think quiet students, highly scheduled students, and those who show up for reasons other than spiritual growth). Ken challenges the assumption that youth ministry is designed primarily for extroverts and invites leaders to rethink how leadership development, discipleship, and program structures can serve every student. From redefining success beyond attendance to building ministry around real relationships, this conversation offers you some thoughtful guidance on helping students follow Jesus, no matter their personality, pace, or level of engagement.Ken has written a number of books including the Make a Difference Bible and the Make a Difference Devotional.Have a question or want to dig deeper? PSALM 41 1 Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble. 2 The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and surrender him to the desire of his foes. 3 The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness. 4 I said, "O LORD, have mercy on me; heal me, for I have sinned against you." 5 My enemies say of me in malice, "When will he die and his name perish?" 6 Whenever one comes to see me, he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander; then he goes out and spreads it abroad. 7 All my enemies whisper together against me; they imagine the worst for me, saying, 8 "A vile disease has beset him; he will never get up from the place where he lies." 9 Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me. 10 But you, O LORD, have mercy on me; raise me up, that I may repay them. 11 I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me. 12 In my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever. 13 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen. NIV 84 LESSON NOTES Mercy Is Evidence of a Life Lived with God A defining characteristic of the Christian is revealed in how we treat the weak, vulnerable, and overlooked. Regard for the weak is evidence of a heart that has been transformed by God. “Regard for the Weak” Requires Thoughtful Compassion To “regard” the weak means more than noticing them; it means thoughtfully considering their situation and responding with intentional compassion. God's Mercy Meets Us in Every Kind of Brokenness “O Lord, have mercy on me” is a prayer that fits every season of life. Whether facing sin, sickness, relational wounds, or betrayal, God welcomes honest, humble cries for help. God's Mercy Does Not Remove Struggle but Upholds Us Through It The power of God's mercy is seen in the way He upholds us. God may not immediately remove suffering, but He promises to hold us steady within it. His mercy keeps us standing when we are too weak to stand on our own. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. Who is your “Mephibosheth”? Who is a specific person in your life—by name—that God may be calling you to regard, consider, and compassionately serve? 2. When have you experienced God's mercy personally? Can you recall a season when God delivered, restored, sustained, or rescued you? How does remembering past mercy strengthen your faith in present struggles? 3. Where do you need to pray, “O Lord, Have Mercy on Me”? Which area of your life currently reflects David's prayer—sin, sickness, relational hurt, betrayal, or weariness? How does this simple prayer give you language for your need? 4. What does it look like to trust God's sustaining mercy rather than expecting immediate solutions? How can this group help “hold one another up” as God does in His mercy? 5. Close the group by praying the six-word prayer together—slowly and intentionally: “O Lord, have mercy on me.” Encourage one another to carry that prayer into the coming week as both a cry for help and a declaration of trust in God's sustaining mercy.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe was known as the ‘godmother of rock and roll' and influenced countless musicians from Elvis to Johnny Cash. Now Olivier Award-winning performer Beverley Knight is playing Sister Rosetta in a new production, Marie and Rosetta, which has just opened at the Rose Theatre in London. It tells the story of Rosetta and her singing partner, Marie Knight, described as one of the most remarkable and revolutionary duos in music history. Beverley joins Nuala McGovern in the Woman's Hour studio to discuss how the show hopes to restore these forgotten musical heroines to the spotlight. The Government has announced that care workers will no longer be recruited from overseas as part of a crackdown on visas for lower-skilled workers. The care sector has criticised the plans as "cruel" and "short-sighted". To discuss this and what good care looks like, Nuala is joined by Gavin Edwards, Head of Social Care at Unison, and care worker Kathryn Faulke, author of the memoir Every Kind of People: A Journey into the Heart of Care Work. It's thought that around 3 to 4% of people in the UK, that's one in 20, have ADHD - Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. However many women still remain undiagnosed for decades of their lives, with those in their 40s, 50s and 60s only now discovering they have it for the first time. Jo Beazley was diagnosed with ADHD just two years ago at the age of 49, after her symptoms worsened during the menopause. She joins Nuala along with Amanda Kirby, the former chair of the ADHD Foundation and a professor in the field of neurodiversity. This week we'll be hearing different perspectives on the recent Supreme Court ruling on the definition of a woman under the Equality Act, and how it could and should be interpreted on the ground. The Equality and Human Rights Commission has issued interim guidance that, in places open to the public, trans women shouldn't use women's facilities such as toilets. Today Nuala speaks to Robin Moira White, a barrister who specialises in taking discrimination cases, and who is also a trans woman. Robin transitioned in 2011 and is co-author of A Practical Guide to Transgender Law. Presenter: Nuala McGovern Producer: Sarah Jane Griffiths

When it comes to versatile, stylish and practical clothing, few things can compete with the ever-popular hoodie. And if you're a traveler — especially someone who frequents magical destinations like Disney parks or other unforgettable places — graphic hoodies are more than just a cozy staple, they're an essential part of your travel wardrobe. Wardrobe Game-Changer: Nine Reasons Why Graphic Hoodies are the Ultimate Style HackWhy a Collection of Graphic Hoodies in Your Wardrobe is Better than OneThe nine things you haven't considered when it comes to the humble hoodieWhile owning one graphic hoodie might seem like it's enough, let's look at why having a small collection of graphic hoodies is not just a fashion statement, but also a very functional and fun way to enhance your vacation style and comfort.1. Style That Matches the Mood and DestinationDisney travelers in particular know that your outfit should reflect the magic of your day, whether it's strolling down Main Street, hopping on your favorite ride, or capturing Instagram-worthy moments in front of Cinderella Castle. Each hoodie in your collection should tell a different story.Having a hoodie collection means you can:Rotate hoodies to match the mood or theme of your day (perfect for Disney parks or other destinations where each area has its own vibe).Pair a hoodie with different outfits for fresh looks, whether it's a travel morning at the airport or an evening watching fireworks by the castle.Stay comfortable in varying weather conditions—hoodies layer well with jackets in colder climates or provide just the right amount of warmth during a breezy evening.Having multiple options ensures you're always dressed for the occasion while staying comfortable.2. Functionality for Every Kind of WeatherGraphic hoodies are the ultimate travel companion because they're versatile. With a hoodie collection, you can really cover all bases:Lightweight hoodies are perfect for warmer days or layering during chilly mornings.Fleece-lined hoodies keep you cozy during colder months or in overly air-conditioned shops, buses or planes.Oversized hoodies offer a relaxed fit for long travel days or lounging at your hotel.Even in a light rain or the start of a rain shower, a hoodie is a great item to have—pull up the hood and head for cover.By ensuring your wardrobe has different hoodie types and styles, you'll always have the perfect hoodie for the forecast, no matter where your adventures take you.3. Practicality Meets PersonalityYour wardrobe reflects your personality and a variety of hoodies lets you showcase different facets of who you are. Whether you're channeling your inner magic or proudly sporting designs inspired by your favorite travel destinations, your collection can serve as a wearable scrapbook of your passions and adventures.Plus, graphic hoodies are conversation starters. A fellow Disney traveler might notice your subtle Disney hoodie and strike up a conversation, making your travels even more memorable.4. Stay Fresh on Long TripsLet's face it—travel can be messy. From the inevitable coffee spill on a flight, to dripping ice cream in the heat of a ride line, having just one hoodie on hand isn't always practical. A collection of unique hoodies allows you to rotate through styles, so you always look (and feel) fresh without overloading your suitcase.5. Collect Memories, Not Just HoodiesMany graphic hoodies are designed to commemorate experiences or are inspired by events or activities. A hoodie purchased to celebrate your first park visit, another from a beloved travel destination, and one featuring your favorite travel mantra can all serve as keepsakes. Over time, your collection becomes a reflection of your journeys and the memories you've made.6. Practically Perfect for TravelersTravelers know the importance of packing wisely. Graphic hoodies serve as the ultimate travel companion for several reasons:Versatility: They work for multiple occasions, from a morning coffee run to an adventurous theme park day.Cozy for transit: Whether you're on a plane, train or bus, a hoodie doubles as an extra layer or even a makeshift pillow.Photogenic: Hoodies with unique designs make your travel photos pop, ensuring your memories are as stylish as they are magical. When you own a collection of several different hoodies, you'll always have a hoodie ready for your next adventure, perfectly suited to the destination and experience.7. Versatility Beyond TravelFor the record, your hoodies don't have to stay in the suitcase. They're just as perfect for running errands at home, grabbing coffee with friends, or relaxing with a beverage and snacks to watch a movie. A collection of hoodies ensures you're not always grabbing the same hoodie, which keeps your wardrobe fresh and fun.8. A Hoodie for Every MemoryDo you attach sentimental value to any pieces of clothing? A collection of graphic hoodies allows you to attach sentimental value to each one. One hoodie might remind you of your first visit to Disneyland, while another brings back memories of a whirlwind European trip. Each design tells a story, and over time, your collection becomes a wearable memory wall of your adventures. And the best part? You can relive those memories every time you slip one on, whether you're lounging at home or exploring a new destination.9. A Hoodie for Every Member of the FamilyIf you're traveling with friends or family, coordinating hoodies can be a fun way to add a little magic to your adventure. Matching tees are one thing, but picture your group sporting matching Disney-inspired hoodies or each person. They don't have to be all the same, but within the same theme or color. It's a fun, easy way to bring the travel party together and stand out in classic vacation photos.Ready to Build Your Hoodie Collection?A single graphic hoodie is great, but a collection? That's where the magic truly happens. With multiple options from graphics to color, you'll never be stuck with a single look or vibe. Instead, you'll have the freedom to express yourself, celebrate your travels and stay comfortable no matter where your adventures take you.At 1923 Main Street, we specialize in graphic hoodies that cater to Disney travelers and adventure travelers alike. Adam Rutherford gets to grips with the crisis in adult social care and asks, whose responsibility is it to fix it? David Goodhart, from the Policy Exchange think tank, writes about the huge changes that have been wrought on family life over the past 60 years and how they have impacted the way in which we live and care for each other. In his new book, The Care Dilemma, he argues that we are in desperate need of a new policy settlement that not only supports gender equality, but also recognises the importance of strong family and community bonds, and the traditional role women have played as carers. Bringing us her own personal story from the frontline of adult social care is Kathryn Faulke. She worked for years in a senior role at the NHS and then became a home care worker. In Every Kind of People she tells the stories of individuals who are part of the system, the cared-for and the carers, and shows how these issues affect us all. This is a story about real lives and real people, revealing the challenges, and the benefits, of working with some of the most vulnerable members of society. Every Kind of People will be Radio 4's Book of the Week, starting on Monday 28th October. So how can we improve the lives of those who require care and also support the carers themselves? Anna Coote is Principal Fellow at the New Economics Foundation and has written extensively on public health policy, public involvement and gender and equality. She believes in taking practical action to change the way we work and value time and believes in our ability to build a fairer and more sustainable social security system – both for ourselves and for future generations.Producer: Natalia Fernandez
One of the more intriguing musical migrations as of late has been the blurring of lines between psych, Americana, and synth. Ya know, that hint of trippy in the twang. That splash of pop songwriting against a Southern backdrop. And between our geographical position and Austin’s ever-expanding melting pot status, we’ve witnessed it unfold firsthand. How does God meet us in the spaces and actions that seem insignificant? Host Curtis Chang welcomes Grammy-winning producer Charlie Peacock and his wife, author Andi Ashworth, to explore just that – the profound mystery and importance of small things. The couple cofounded Art House America and explain what blossomed in the old church building they once called home thanks to their investment in a life of hospitality. Among other things, they tell the tale of how a certain Irish houseguest named Bono ignited a movement in their living room that would go on to save millions of lives. Curtis also wades into a topic that few of us consider: the ministry of cooking. You don't want to miss this Good Faith conversation. Paul chats with him about everything from his early days on the Norther California jazz scene, to writing hits for the Christian music world, to producing everyone from the Civil Wars to Switchfoot. PART ONE:Scott and Paul talk about aging, the Rolling Stones concert Scott just saw, the centrality of energetic drummers, and other fun stuff. PART TWO:Our in-depth conversation with Charlie PeacockABOUT CHARLIE PEACOCKFrom jazz to pop to rock to country, gospel, and Americana, Charlie Peacock is a Grammy-winning producer, artist, and songwriter who defies categorization. In addition to his own wide-ranging work as a recording artist, he has written well-known songs such “Every Heartbeat,” which was a major pop hit for Amy Grant, and “In the Light,” which is best known for the version recorded by DC Talk. He's responsible for developing and producing the Grammy Award-winning duo The Civil Wars and the Modern Rock band Switchfoot, including their multi-platinum Top 40 pop hit “Dare You to Move.” Peacock launched his career as an artist on the Northern California jazz scene before recording his debut album, Lie Down in the Grass, which was released by A&M Records in the mid-1980s. After a stint with Island Records, he moved to Nashville to work as an artist and producer. His 1990 album, The Secret of Time, earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Rock/Contemporary Gospel Album. In that decade, he produced nearly 50 albums for other artists, and was named the Gospel Music Association's Producer of the Year for three consecutive years. The long list of artists he has produced includes Nicole Nordeman, David Crowder, Holly Williams, The Lone Bellow, Al Green, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. He has produced a wide range of music for film and television, including the Mandy Moore film A Walk To Remember, Chris Cornell's "Misery Chain" from the soundtrack of Twelve Years a Slave, and "Hush," the title theme to the AMC drama Turn: Washington's Spies, featuring Joy Williams and Matt Berninger of The National. As an artist, he returned to jazz with the Love Press Ex-Curio album in 2005 before embracing vocal music once again with his 2012 album No Man's Land. In late 2015, Peacock was appointed the Director of Contemporary Music and Industry Outreach at Lipscomb University's College of Arts and Entertainment in Nashville. An author of several books, his forthcoming memoir will explore his musical life, while his latest album as an artist, Every Kind of Uh-Oh, will be released at the end of August.
