Innate Health is a description of the effect of The Three Principles in action. Everyone has Innate Health; it is the pure spiritual energy of creation that is aliveness in us. It is the pure energy we bring to our experience via our power to think. The Principles have no role in what we think; they describe that we think. Innate Health is the state we experience when we are in the present moment, with a quiet mind. It is "innate" because it is natural, neutral life energy, before we add ideas and images that then appear to be real to us in that moment. Once people see that until we think, we are in neutral, we realize that the power to think again, to get a fresh perspective with one new thought, to have faith in the universal gift of Thought, is the power we have to come back to neutral and clear our minds and think again. Innate Health is the fact of humanity that allows us to forgive ourselves and others for thoughts we regret acting on, or for getting stuck in negative thinking about life or people. As soon as we "see" that, we are able to come to peace and open our minds to insights and fresh ideas.Support the show
This week on Rebel Spirituality, we explore the mind-bending truth that you're not feeling objects 'out there' in the world but your perception of them.
Dr Dan O' Neill, Associate Professor in Companion Animal Epidemiology at Royal Veterinary College, joins us to discuss the latest research from VetCompass on comparing three ‘designer' cross breeds namely the Cavapoo, Cockapoo and the Labradoodle on whether they are healthier than their ‘pure bred' parts. Revealing to some surprise that these three mixes are indeed no healthier than their pedigree parents, we chat about bias, stigma and trends that influence dog owners. We discuss the shift in dog ownership towards these new ‘breeds', in the wake of much discussion on the health limiting over-exaggerated features of some pedigrees that has caused a shadow to fall across all purebreds. Dr Dan is passionate about ‘Innate Health' which simply means dogs should be able to express themselves as dogs being able to breathe, run, and communicate as a dog is meant to! We discuss the work that Vet Compass is doing to paint a picture, a Demo-graph, on all aspects of modern post-pandemic dogs and their owners, including husbandry, which is coming soon! For many doctors a career in medicine seems like a conveyor belt, but increasingly people are willing to take stock and consider what it is that they want in their lives, and what kind of a career suits them. This may be decisions relating to specialties, locations, allied roles, leadership roles, or wholesale changes. In this episode, Giles Croft tells me about career decisions that he has made. We identify that slowing down matters, happiness is an inside job, and we create a six point plan for career transitions.Giles is a psychology graduate and former NHS surgeon who stepped aside from clinical practice to seek happiness in a number of alternative career paths, including health informatics, cycling journalism, public speaking and high street retail with his wife. Ultimately he realised what we all know to be true — that happiness is indeed an ‘inside job' — and since 2018 has been helping individuals and groups to rediscover their own ‘Innate Health' as a speaker, coach and trainer. He has worked extensively with busy Health & Social Care staff, and his 6 week Reconnect Programme was recently found by the UK's What Works Centre for Wellbeing, to be the most effective way to improve staff wellbeing and mental health, out of more than 200 different interventions across the UK. Giles writes a monthly wellbeing column in the South Wales-based Focus Magazine, runs a free monthly online meet-up called ‘Wellbeing Wednesdays' and lives in Abergavenny with his wife and 10 year old daughter. You can connect with him:Email: dr@gilespcroft.com Website: https://gilespcroft.comWellbeing Wednesdays: https://gilespcroft.com/wellbeing/ YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/drgilespcroftFacebook page: https://facebook.com/drgilespcroftTwitter/X: https://twitter.com/gilespcroftLinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/drgilespcroftListen at https://matdaniel.net/podcast/; https://open.spotify.com/show/1j8uLaUU1g5bYTRVuwUX7j?si=672ec26a73164d7f; https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/doctors-at-work/id1701284564; or watch on www.youtube.com/@dr-coach/videos.Production: Shot by PolachekYou can find out more about Mat's coaching to help doctors create successful and meaningful careers at www.MatDaniel.net.
This is a great conversation about how Cassie: ✨Recovered from postpartum ocd ✨Realized she didn't need to take her thinking so seriously (after going deep in manifestation and law of attraction) ✨Realized she was not broken and there was nothing wrong with her ✨Has become an even better business coach by realizing that her clients have their own innate health. We talk about Cassie's experience with OCD, mental checking, avoidance, and also how manifestation and law of attraction caused her to take her thinking too seriously and fear and try to control her thinking. After coming into the three principles understanding she realized that it's just not true. You don't think something and it immediately becomes real. Cassie realized her thinking is random and unimportant. It was also helpful for her to realize that if she's feeling bad not to take her thinking seriously or try and fix it. Reawakening to her innate health has helped Cassie be an even better business coach. In addition to realizing that her clients have their own innate health, she doesn't stress if they're struggling because she chooses to see people in their power. She knows it's only their thinking when they're feeling down and out. Her only job is guiding them to their own wisdom. Cassie sees business as a playground and I just love that so much!

In this weeks episode, Han is joined by Mary Franklin-Smith. Mary is the founder of Light of Mind, which explores mental health in a novel way, and provides guidance to find your own inner light and to wake up to your wonder. This week, Han and Mary start by discussing Mary's approach as a therapist, and her novel way of supporting clients as a whole rather than their current mental health struggles to uncover the treasures an individual holds inside.Mary speaks about her experience as a drama therapist, and how she works with clients to use this to uncover the mask of their eating disorder and find their light within. Mary discusses her focus on innate health, rather than in health, and how this allows her to support clients to find their healthy flourishing identity. We also discuss recovery, how this looks different for everyone, how moving into recovery feels uncomfortable but actually trusting your inner light will support you to find your true nature beneath all the masks you may have been holding in front of you. We talk about Innate Health as fundamental to the effect of the Principles. It's good to stop to appreciate what a gift it is to mankind. Innate Health is the spiritual core of well-being that cannot be touched by the circumstances of our life. It is our intuitive knowing that we're OK, deep-down, and we can rise above our problems. It's the resource that allows us to survive and thrive. It is our default setting that renews our resilience once we quiet down in the midst of turmoil; we naturally return to balance and wisdom as we understand the nature of thought and allow dysfunctional thinking to pass. People resonate with the very mention of Innate Health because it is a profound universal truth about humanity.Support the show (https://www.psychologyhasitbackwards.com/support/)

Traditional mental health approaches deal with the outcomes of our thinking, and put attention on what we think, why our thinking is making us feel bad, why we think it, etc. Three Principles practitioners address the fact that we have the power to think, and we can use a stressful, or any negative state of mind as an internal signal that we are holding onto negative thinking. We draw clients into their natural, innate state that is peaceful, calm, loving. From that perspective, clients start to have insights and resolve their problems. They learn to use their feelings as a guide to when to take their thinking to heart -- and when to see it as a just a signal to quiet down and look for a deeper feeling.Support the show (https://www.psychologyhasitbackwards.com/support/)
No one can fix anyone else. Yet we have come to believe that if we just find the right advisor, or the right therapist, or the right self-help technique, or the right program, they or it will fix us. Clients even shop Three Principles programs eagerly taking notes and waiting for a magic bullet. Our work is really a roadmap to your own resiliency, insight, wisdom and peace -- the Innate Health that is our birthright and is always available to us. So the interaction between 3P practitioners and clients is meant to awaken the clients to what they already have, and assist them to find the way to access their own best ideas and natural peace of mind. We're built to do it ourselves.Support the show (https://www.psychologyhasitbackwards.com/support/)
Ever wondered whether a tweak of the script might aid your ability to help yourself or someone else through an eating disorder recovery journey? Could you be focusing too hard on what's unwell and undone, rather than seeing the innate elements of health and hope? In this episode, we chat to therapist Mary Franklin-Smith about her refreshing approach to treatment tactics. Given her extensive experience across eating disorder support via the NHS and private practice, we're able to dig into plenty of topics, including the MANTRA approach, the benefits of sandcastle-building, an increased use of FREED around the UK, and why interrupting the intellectual is often necessary in therapy. Having self-doubt is good, it stops us from getting too ahead of ourselves - but can there be another important reason or purpose? Let's pause for a moment - why is the 'self' being doubted? When in doubt we pause, as the doubt grows we get uncomfortable and we realise that we may have been looking up the wrong tree all this long.
What are some of the limitations of wellbeing strategies in the context of psychological and spiritual wellbeing? Rani and Suraj explore how far these strategies can take you and how those fail at being able to guide us to our true nature and wellbeing. They also take you on a whistle-stop tour of the Taj Mahal.

Why is it that despite great advances in communication, transport and digital technology, a lot of us struggle with finding enjoyment and an authentic sense of accomplishment in daily work and life? We intuitively seem to know when we need to slow down and rest but may try to override it. In the episode, Liz and Rani look at the difference between “digital” time and “nature” time and why nature is always a great teacher.
It’s a great question, isn’t it? Who cares about our essence, our nature, our core, when your body has an illness? Or when your mind isn’t working the way it ‘should’, or when your life circumstances are the worst you can imagine? What good is innate health when everything that’s physical and human is falling apart? Well, here’s the thing: All the big stuff like love, connection, peace, creativity, even a sense of thriving…doesn’t come from your brain or body. These things are 100% available to you no matter what’s happening physically, psychologically, or circumstantially. They come from who you are beyond those things. That is innate health. I hope this episode deepens your understanding. I have a feeling it will.
Some people say they are spiritual and others say they are not. Generally spirituality is put in the same box as having a particular religious affiliation. In the episode, we discuss spirituality as 'tuning' inwards and having a sense of that which is indescribable but manifests as presence.

Whether one gets anxious, obsessive thoughts or even the most extreme kind e.g. suicidal thoughts, all those have something in common – they are loaded with a sense of urgency. When we understand the true nature of thought, we realise that we don't have to always act on our thoughts.
In this episode, Liz and Rani discuss why our mood keeps changing and why we can't sustain a single mood with the same level of intensity throughout the day. This week, we interview Dr. Rani Bora. Dr. Bora is a qualified Psychiatrist and Mental Health and Resilience Coach. She has studied a number of approaches to mental well-being – both traditional and non-traditional, and she focuses on holistic approaches to supporting people with their mental wellness. Since deepening her own understanding of the paradigm of ‘Innate Health and Resilience’, she has committed herself to sharing this understanding in her coaching and training and has witnessed remarkable transformation in individuals whom she has supported. In this interview we discuss Dr. Bora’s background in psychiatry, how she came to move away from more traditional psychiatric approaches and the concept of innate health and resilience. In this episode, we discuss: How Dr. Bora graduated from medical school in 1997 and became interested in connecting with people leading to specialising in psychiatry That Rani found working in India as a psychiatrist very different compared to the UK and there were very few community services with most services delivered in a hospital setting That after working in the UK, Dr. Bora became interested in self help and personal development That this led to training in parallel both as a psychiatrist and as a life coach studying Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Narrative Coaching That Rani came to see that using tools and techniques as a quick fix can be problematic, because difficulties can re-surface once people stop using the tools and techniques That Innate health and resilience (also known as the three principles) is a new paradigm pointing to the health and wellbeing within all and how the mind works That the three principles are mind, thought and consciousness That Rani sees medication and mindfulness as tools but they don’t really address the root cause of emotional distress That having an understanding about how the mind works can help people to heal from emotional difficulties or trauma That people are more resourceful than they think they are and Rani helps people to discover that resourcefulness within themselves Rani’s mentor, US Psychiatrist Dr. Bill Pettit, reminds us that a diagnosis doesn't define a person, only describes symptoms That people experiencing mental health difficulties are not different to the rest of society, but medicine quite often labels and separates Rani believes that “you cannot fail at being yourself” That if people accept themselves with their perceived flaws and limitations and realise that these individual differences are what make us unique and human, it means less judgement and self criticism That Rani feels that we focus too much on what is lacking in people and on diseases and symptoms That we also focus too much on mental illness rather than mental health That Rani does work with clients who expect medication, but that she often finds other ways to work with people That Rani wants to know the outcome people are looking for and often finds that the medical model has its limitation in helping people with their real needs in life That Rani would like the research to focus more on empowering people and what helps people recover That Rani feels that it’s very important that we also focus on the health of those in the medical community who are supporting others, as the lack of resources can be associated with enormous strain and stress That Rani would like people to reflect on the fact that they are not broken, even given what happened in the past or what diagnoses they have There is something at the core of who we are that cannot be damaged by our experiences To get in touch with us email: podcasts@madinamerica.com © Mad in America 2017

How do we know the difference between reliable and unreliable feelings? Sometimes, we feel so strongly about things that if we don’t listen to them we may feel lost.
