Our Guest today is Wendy Crewson Wendy Crewson was the recipient of a star on Canada's Walk of Fame in 2015; and the Earle Grey Award, given to fewer than 32 collective recipients since 1986, in recognition by the ACCT and the Canadian Entertainment Industry, for Lifetime Achievement in Television. One of Canada's premier actresses, Wendy Crewson has garnered critical and popular acclaim, as well as multiple awards, for her extensive body of work in film and television. Her resume features more than 100 titles, including credits like: Sarah Polley's indie feature AWAY FROM HER; THE VOW, with Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum; the Winnie Mandela biopic WINNIE, alongside Jennifer Hudson and Terrance Howard; THE SANTA CLAUSE trilogy opposite Tim Allen; THE CLEARING, with Robert Redford; Eduardo Ponti's BETWEEN STRANGERS, with Sophia Loren; THE LAST BRICKMAKER IN AMERICA, with Sidney Poitier; BICENTENNIAL MAN with Robin Williams; THE SIXTH DAY with Arnold Schwarzenegger; and of course, her role as Harrison Ford's First Lady in AIR FORCE ONE. Throughout her illustrious career, Wendy has amassed more nominations and awards in Canada than any other actress for portraying real women. These are some of her most wellregarded roles and they include: Sue Rodriguez (who went all the way to The Supreme Court of Canada to fight Doctor Assisted suicide while fighting ALS); “Jane Doe” (who made legal history when she sued the police for negligence after being the fifth victim of a serial rapist and realizing that the police knew details and had done nothing to prevent further rapes); Lorraine Evenshen (who tells the story from her own perspective as the wife of popular CFL star Terry Evanshen, who lost his memory after waking up from a coma caused by a car crash); and finally, Louise Arbour (who as the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for both the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and Rwanda, made history with the first indictment of a sitting head of state, for war crimes, the first conviction for genocide and the first to recognize sexual crimes as crimes against humanity). Wendy starred in five seasons of CTV's hit medical drama SAVING HOPE, for which she won Best Actress in a Featured Supporting Role at the 2013 CSAs. Wendy was also in the critically acclaimed, Oscar-nominated film, ROOM with Brie Larson; and appeared opposite Ellen Page in Patricia Rozema's INTO THE FOREST. Wendy was recently seen in the films KODACHROME, with Ed Harris and Jason Sudeikis; DEATH WISH with Bruce Willis.; and director Mimi Leder's timely feature, ON THE BASIS OF SEX. On the small screen, Wendy recently starred on CBS's hit medical drama, GOOD SAM; CBC's popular series FRANKIE DRAKE; in addition to the Hallmark series, WHEN HOPE CALLS; while also shooting the second season of DEPARTURE for Peacock/Global; and her recurring role on TITANS for HBO Max. Before that, she starred in the CTV/ION series THE DETAIL, for which she was nominated for a 2019 CSA. She also recurred in the AMC series THE SON, opposite Pierce Brosnan; and in THE OCTOBER FACTION for Netflix. Wendy continues to be as busy as ever. She joined the cast of CBC's hit procedural, PRETTY HARD CASES for its final season, while also shooting in the highly anticipated series GRAY, opposite Patricia Clarkson. Next, she appears in the independent films BACKSPOT, from director D.W. Waterson; and SAM opposite Elliot Page. We dived right in and started our conversation with the all-consuming fear of ‘coming out' --and we ended – appropriately, with her sense of belonging in a community and industry that she is so passionate about.

Howdy friends!Instagram: happilybookedpodcastFacebook: Happily Booked Podcast Email: happilybookedpodcast@gmail.com (Anything non-podcast related and/or inappropriate will be reported)Tik Tok: happilybookedpodcastAs always, we are so glad to be able to have our podcast fun and chat away like crazy on Mondays! We are honored that you lovely people want to listen to our rambles...okay, fine! You want to hear about books! But we're a rambly pair and if you ask us to change, you're asking for far too much! But in all seriousness, thank you so much for listening! We (we as in Brooke) trailed off a good bit in this episode, so brace yourselves! There is one spot in this episode where we are chatting about a certain book and accidentally drop the name of one of our dear pals. We did our best to edit it out for privacy reasons seeing as we have not confirmed with this person if it was alright to say her name! So you will probably be able to hear when the slip-up happened as we go from talking calmly to giggling like fools! Oh well! We are who we are. Also, from the time we recorded this episode to its publishing (today, 9/05/22), we gained a wonderful listener from "across the pond" in Europe! Hello friend!! We are so honored you chose to download two of our episodes! Much love to ya! But we wanted to apologize because in this recording we did not have you as a listener just yet and there is a moment we mentioned some other fun locations that we are being downloaded in. We apologize and will rectify that, not in the next episode, but in the one after in Ep. 6! For some unknown reason, I said the author of The Dewberry Farm Mysteries was a "Katherine". That was entirely incorrect, that cozy mystery series is written by a KAREN MacInerney! I apologize for the confusion that I am putting out into the world. Alright, I believe that was all! Also as an Asian American being scared to go outside for my daily walk due to Asian getting beat up during daily walks with their dog in our community has been very scary to us. This song is set in an icy cold forest. In the midst of coldness, we can still find the warmth, and beauty in it. When you can be still and peaceful with it, there's always sunlight behind your smile. Like the light at the end of the tunnel." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Created during a time of quarantine in the global Coronavirus pandemic, A Moment Of Your Time's mission is to provide a space for expression, collaboration, community and solidarity. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #427 is an adventurous and wide-ranging hour of songs and improvised musical magic from the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, ukulele, native flute and acoustic guitar, , Robin Rooney on vocals and djembe, Craig Harris on native drums and congas and Bob Sherwood on piano. Recorded live in January 2021 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today’s show begins with Mariam’s ukulele leading us into the hip, psychedelic “A Little Bit More”, a hypnotic groove with an inspiring vocal from Mariam that culminates in a funky, extended flute solo section heavy on driving percussion from Craig and Robin. Mariam’s ukulele takes lead once again on the lovely, misty gypsy ballad “Let’s Take a Breath”, a lushly dark, Eastern European-derived harmonic journey with gorgeous vocals from Mariam and Robin and an ever-expanding harmonic agenda from Bob on piano. “Climbing Up The Walls” is a blues-rock workout led by Mariam’s chiming acoustic guitar and Ray Charles piano from Bob and “Into The Forest” is a pine-scented, mesmerizing nature prayer that leads us deep into the winter woods. “Life Is Like A River” is a hushed, gorgeous hymn with a unique harmonic signature from Mariam’s capoed acoustic guitar and today’s closer is the epic, journeying “Where The Gentle Waves Are Flowing”, a multivaried musical geography lesson that begins with the prayerful tones of Mariam’s native flute and evolves into a harmonically deep and affecting ballad with a lush, mystical lyric from Mariam and always more and richer native flute passages.Learn more about Mariam here: http://www.mariammassaro.com

Lee and Dallas are joined by Hannah Ryan to discuss 20th Century Women and Trespass Against Us. 20th Century Women is set in 1979 Santa Barbara, California, Dorothea Fields is a determined single mother in her mid-50s who is raising her adolescent son, Jamie, at a moment brimming with cultural change and rebellion. Dorothea enlists the help of two younger women – Abbie, a free-spirited punk artist living as a boarder in the Fields' home and Julie, a savvy and provocative teenage neighbour – to help with Jamie's upbringing. Trespass Against Us sees three generations of the rowdy Cutler family who live as outlaws in some of Britain's richest countryside – hunting hares, ram-raiding stately homes, and taunting the police. Struggling to retain a way of life fast becoming extinct, Chad Cutler ends up caught between his father's archaic principles and trying to do right by his kids, whilst the full force of the law is finally catching up with him. In A24 Hour News, we look at the forthcoming Midsummer director's cut and preview our next interview with Patrica Rozema, the writer/director of Into The Forest.
