On l'endosse.

Running twice a day sounds serious, but is it actually right for you? This week, Zoë and TJ dig into the full science of doubles: what they are, what they're definitively not, and how to know if you're actually a candidate. Plus, a round of listener-submitted Hot or Nots and a great question about why early morning runs feel so much harder.First up, meet Coach James Nance, a multi-sport specialist who coaches cyclists, runners, and skiers through big goals without burning them out. He's based in Fort Collins and has a knack for athletes navigating injury cycles, overtraining, and RED-S. If any of that sounds like your situation, reach out at microcosmcoaching@gmail.com.Then, a deep-dive Hot or Not round featuring listener submissions: inversion tables (the effects last minutes, not months), muscle scraping (the original theory has been pretty much debunked), CBD and THC cream (weak evidence, real anti-doping risk), and Superfeet insoles (a rare instance where the research actually delivers, prefab orthotics perform as well as custom at a fraction of the cost). Before the main topic, TJ answers a listener's question about why Zone 2 feels brutally hard at 5 a.m., and it turns out it's not just you. Core temperature, sleep inertia, cortisol, glycogen state, darkness, and cold all compound to inflate your RPE before you've even hit the first mile. There's real science here, and real solutions. Then: doubles. An elite running a morning threshold session and an afternoon shakeout is doing something fundamentally different than a recreational runner cramming two hard efforts into a day. Zoë and TJ break down the physiology of why doubles work when they work (hint: PGC-1α, mitochondrial biogenesis, and aerobic signaling), who's actually a candidate, the gray zone trap, the ego trap, and why energy availability is non-negotiable if you're going to add volume this way. Bottom line: doubles are a tool, not a trophy.
« Comment bien manager ?
Why perfectionism, over-doing it, and overworking is your default loops? Let's talk about it! So many women pride themselves on being disciplined, productive, and capable, yet underneath the constant doing, something feels off. This hustle culture which so often ropes in imposter syndrome and overworking feels like a hamster wheel. How do you get off?In this episode, we explore the real energy behind self-doubt, and how it quietly disguises itself as perfectionism, overworking, over-preparing, and “just staying busy.” These habits often look responsible or ambitious on the surface, but they're frequently rooted in a deeper need to feel safe, worthy, or validated.I break down how self-doubt embeds itself in the nervous system, why it prefers action over stillness, and how it keeps you exhausting yourself instead of trusting yourself. I also share four powerful energetic ways of being to begin loosening doubt at the root by restoring inner safety and authority. This conversation is an invitation to stop proving and start embodying. To recognize when productivity is protection. And to choose a more honest, sustainable way of moving forward.******Do you feel called to join the Phoenix Goddess Collective? Let's talk about it.
Discover how fasting extends lifespan, lowers insulin and blood sugar, reduces inflammation, regenerates gut cells, and promotes autophagy. Learn the science-backed benefits of fasting and how to implement strategic fasting protocols for metabolic health, cellular repair, and longevity. Nurse Doza breaks down when and how to use fasting as a powerful health tool. FEATURED PRODUCT Mitochondriac, featuring resveratrol with quercetin and methylated forms, is designed to support mitochondrial function and mimic the beneficial effects of fasting. Research shows resveratrol activates the same pathways as fasting—AMPK, SIRT1, and PGC-1α—promoting autophagy, mitochondrial biogenesis, and cellular repair. Pairing Mitochondriac with your fasting protocol enhances the metabolic benefits discussed in this episode, making fasting more sustainable and effective for longevity and energy production.
So many women are doing all the “right” things: healing, manifesting, investing in growth and still feel stuck when it comes to love, money, and fully living their purpose. We were indoctrinated and conditioned to thing we need to do more, be more consistent, be more hustle-minded, do it right-er, lol. It's actually none of that. It's survival consciousness running beneath the surface and we get to deprogramme all that.In this episode, I name five major survival codes that live in the subconscious and energy body and quietly shape how we relate, earn, choose, and play small even when we deeply desire more.We explore how these codes form, how they show up differently in love, wealth, and purpose, and why willpower alone can't override them. This is about awareness, embodiment, and learning to recognize when survival is driving your decisions instead of sovereignty. Then I give 5 anchors that will help you enter the deprogramming while loving on yourself.******Do you feel called to join the Phoenix Goddess Collective? Let's talk about it.
Most people think fear is what stops them. But fear is loud. Obvious. Temporary. Even necessary at times and most times, transmutable.Doubt is quieter, sneakier, and far more powerful in blocking your manifestations. In this episode, we explore how doubt operates as a subtle energetic blocker that drains momentum, erodes self-trust, and keeps you circling your potential long after fear has passed. I break down the energetic difference between fear and doubt, why doubt embeds itself in the nervous system, and how it quietly shapes your choices, language, and capacity to move forward. We talk about transmuting both fear and doubt so that you more deeply operate in your authority, and embodied truth. This is an invitation to stop fighting fear and start dissolving the doubt beneath it.Share this with a sister who you know needs this power in their lives. Let's elevate together.******❤️

We're talking sildenafil for longevity, healthspan, and performance. The “little blue pill” has a reputation as an erectile dysfunction drug, but when you actually look at the mechanism and the data, it's doing way more than that.I've been a proponent of low-dose Cialis for a long time, and I still am. But lately I've been experimenting with rotating between Cialis and Viagra because I notice I can build a tolerance to Cialis over time. It still works, but I don't feel the performance benefits as strongly unless I push the dose higher. What I've found is that going four weeks on low-dose Cialis, then four weeks on low-dose Viagra, seems to keep me more responsive overall while still giving me the benefits that matter for longevity. In this episode, I break down the real mechanism. Sildenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor that amplifies nitric oxide signaling and raises cGMP throughout the body. That means systemic vasodilation, improved endothelial function, better blood flow to organs, and anti-thrombotic effects through reduced platelet activation. And the downstream effects get even more interesting. We're talking mitochondrial signaling through PKG, potential ischemic preconditioning effects, PGC-1α and mitochondrial biogenesis, AMPK activation, and dampening inflammatory pathways like NF-kB. This is why I think sildenafil deserves a seat at the longevity table, not just a spot in the performance category. Then we get into the human data and what I think is most compelling. Large datasets show associations with lower rates of cardiovascular events and lower all-cause mortality in PDE5 inhibitor users. We talk heart attacks, strokes, endothelial repair, and why this class may act like an exercise mimetic for certain people by improving hemodynamics and oxygen delivery. We also cover pulmonary benefits, including its FDA-approved use for pulmonary arterial hypertension, and why that matters for aging lungs, sleep apnea-related pulmonary issues, and even high-altitude physiology. The brain section is the one that makes most people stop and rethink everything. There are observational datasets suggesting meaningfully lower Alzheimer's and dementia incidence in sildenafil users, plus plausible mechanisms tied to cerebral blood flow, synaptic plasticity, inflammation reduction, and mitochondrial support inside the brain. I'm not saying it's a magic bullet. I am saying it's one of the more interesting repurposing conversations in longevity right now.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission has proposed major changes to the 2026–27 hunting seasons — and this is the window where hunter feedback matters. In this bonus episode, Beau Martonik breaks down the proposed changes and explains why he believes moving regular firearms deer season one week earlier puts rifles deeper into the rut, increases vulnerability of mature bucks, and could hurt the quality of deer hunting PA has improved over the last 20 years. He also covers the ripple effect that moves firearms bear season earlier, colliding with what many consider the best week of archery deer hunting. This is still proposal-stage — not final — which means hunters need to voice their opinions the right way (not just in social comments). Beau also shares a quick Instagram poll: 678 responses — 96% opposed / 4% supported. Be respectful. Be clear. And make sure your feedback reaches the Board. Links: PGC Contact Us / Board comment path + January Meeting Agenda Here's a copy/paste email template that you can use to send to the board, if you agree with my thoughts. Dear Board, I'm asking the Board to keep the regular firearms deer opener after Thanksgiving and avoid moving it earlier into peak rut activity. I'm concerned this will increase vulnerability of mature bucks during peak breeding movement and could reduce the quality and age structure of bucks, which has improved over the last two decades. I also oppose moving the firearms bear season to what is widely considered the best week of archery deer hunting, as this will increase pressure and reduce opportunities for archery hunters. If the goal is youth participation, I support recruitment efforts that don't sacrifice the core season structure—for example, expanded mentored/youth opportunities, targeted weekends, or other options that improve access without shifting the statewide firearms timing. In Pennsylvania and beyond, I believe access plays a bigger role in losing hunters who have purchased licenses for years. When we lose those people, we lose those mentors for the youth/new hunters. I commend the PGC for acquiring new state game lands and helping with access, but I believe that it will be difficult to keep up with the amount of private land that was previously accessible through permission, to leases, amongst other reasons. Send us a textMitochondrial fatty acid synthesis is a little-known but essential pathway that supports energy production and metabolic health.Summary: Dr. Sara Nowinski explains how mitochondria not only burn fuels to make ATP but also synthesize their own fatty acids inside the matrix; this conserved pathway produces lipoic acid (an essential enzyme cofactor) and longer-chain fats required for proper assembly of the electron transport chain, and disrupting it impairs respiration, glucose handling, and insulin sensitivity while enhancing it appears protective against obesity and heart injury.About the guest: Sara Nowinski, PhD is an assistant professor in the Department of Metabolism and Nutritional Programming at Van Andel Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where since 2021 she has led a lab focused on mitochondrial biology and the mitochondrial fatty acid synthesis (mitoFAS) pathway.Topics Discussed:Basic mitochondrial energy production: food → pyruvate/fatty acids → acetyl-CoA → TCA cycle → electron transport chain → ATPMitochondrial fatty acid synthesis (mitoFAS): a bacterial-like pathway that builds fats on an acyl carrier protein inside the matrixLipoic acid: an 8-carbon fatty acid made only by mitoFAS, covalently attached to key enzymes (e.g., pyruvate dehydrogenase); cannot be rescued by supplements for cofactor useLonger mitoFAS products (14–16 carbons) stabilize electron transport chain assembly factors, explaining why pathway loss collapses respiration even when lipoic acid is intactKnocking out mitoFAS causes embryonic lethality, insulin resistance, poor glucose homeostasis, and a rare neurodegenerative disorder (MEPAN syndrome)Overexpressing the mitochondrial acyl carrier protein protects mice from diet-induced obesity, insulin resistance, and cardiac injuryMuscle cell differentiation fails without mitoFAS, hinting at a role in tissue development and repairPractical Takeaways:Supplemental lipoic acid can act as an antioxidant but cannot replace the lipoic acid your mitochondria must make themselves for enzyme function.Severe impairment of mitochondrial fatty acid synthesis is linked to insulin resistance and metabolic disruption, suggesting mitochondrial health (beyond just biogenesis) matters for glucose control.Lifestyle or future therapies that boost overall mitochondrial function (e.g., exercise via PGC-1α) may indirectly support tSupport the showAffiliates: Lumen device to optimize your metabolism for weight loss or athletic performance. At the Glass Art Society's (GAS) 2025 conference, Trailblazing New Traditions, held in May in Arlington and Fort Worth, Texas, Zachary Layhew and Hoseok Youn presented a unique collaborative glassblowing demonstration where Youn's Venetian fantasy vessels intersected with the baroque, cubist influences of Layhew's practice. The artists shared their unique approaches to traditional techniques and designs, both makers transforming the context of tradition through the lens of their original personalities. The result was a figurative sculpture constructed from historical goblets and decorative stemware, combined with the line patterns of cane. Goblets and cane are common and popular in the glass tradition, but this demonstration showed the community a creative and innovative way to elevate those methods to new frontiers while paying respect to their origins. Layhew started his glass career at the age of 14 by taking an introductory intensive at the Pittsburgh Glass Center (PGC) called Teen Bootcamp. He quickly fell in love with the material and the community surrounding it. Through the years, the artist has focused on his technical skills in glass and developing his personal voice through sculpture. His work revolves around a combination of glassblowing, cold working, and then further reheating, manipulating, and assembling the pieces. Working as an artist and instructor at PGC, Layhew assists other Pittsburgh artists in his spare time. He will teach Lines, Rings, and Patterned Things at Foci, the Minnesota Center for Glass Arts, from November 12 through 16. In December, the artist has a residency at Keystone College, Factoryville, Pennsylvania, and through the rest of 2025 and 2026, he will teach eight-week classes at PGC. Additionally, Layhew creates production work that is sold online and in person. A South Korean glass artist specializing in glassblowing, Youn holds a BFA degree in glass and ceramics from Namseoul University, Cheon Ahn, Korea, and earned an MFA in glass from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Illinois. He has taught at Bowling Green State University as an adjunct professor, was a studio artist at Toledo Museum of Art and a studio lead at Belger Arts in Kansas City, Missouri. Youn's artistic practice focuses on Venetian traditional glass, figurative sculptures, and photography. He is inspired by heroes and villains based on pop culture and toys. His work reflects the image of his ideal successful self, combining crystal clear glass, elaborate vessel forms, intricate stemware, and abundant details. In 2026, he will teach a workshop at Pilchuck Glass School, session 7. Click this link for details https://www.pilchuck.org/programs/sessions/lost-and-found Enjoy this conversation with Layhew and Youn about their individual work in glass as well as their groundbreaking collaborative demo at the 2025 GAS conference.

In this episode of the ATLVets Speaker Series, we sit down with Zack Miller, CEO of Patriot Growth Capital (PGC), to explore the intersection of veteran empowerment, private equity, and long-term legacy.Zack shares his journey from the advertising and startup world to launching a private equity firm dedicated to supporting veterans and their families through entrepreneurship by acquisition. Together with ATLVets, PGC is reshaping how veterans transition into ownership, leadership, and wealth creation. This episode dives into:The Barriers to Entrepreneurship – Fear, capital, mentorship, and “analysis paralysis” that hold veterans back—and how to overcome them. The Dream Work Exercise – Why defining vision, values, and family goals is the starting point for every veteran entrepreneur.Veteran Families as Operators – Expanding opportunities for spouses, siblings, and children to step into meaningful roles and ownership.Defense Tech Accelerator – The vision for a Veteran Center of Excellence in Atlanta, combining human performance, technology, and dual-use innovation. The Bigger Picture – PGC's commitment to impacting 1 million veteran families over the next decade.
Transitioning from employee to entrepreneur is challenging for anyone, but military veterans face unique hurdles despite possessing extraordinary skills for business ownership. In this eye-opening conversation, Zach Miller reveals how his company is changing the game for veterans seeking financial independence.Growing up as the child of two Marines shaped Zach's disciplined approach to life, carrying him through careers in sports, music, advertising, and eventually high-powered digital sales roles where he helped orchestrate multiple company exits worth hundreds of millions. When COVID hit, his innovative digital platform saved $105 million in collegiate sports sponsorships, cementing his reputation as someone who thrives under pressure and creates solutions where others see only problems. What's truly fascinating is how Zach connects his personal journey to his mission at Patriot Growth Capital. Rather than leaving veterans to start businesses from scratch, PGC acquires established, profitable companies and creates a structured pathway for veterans to learn, operate, and ultimately own these businesses. Their "Practical MBA" approach pays veterans a six-figure salary while teaching them every aspect of running a successful operation over a five-year period. The statistics Zach shares are striking: only 5% of America's 6.2 million small businesses are veteran-owned, yet these companies employ over 7 million Americans. By increasing veteran business ownership, PGC isn't just changing individual lives—they're potentially creating an economic engine that benefits communities nationwide.Whether you're a business owner considering your exit strategy, an investor looking for purpose alongside profits, or someone fascinated by innovative business models that create multiple winners, this conversation offers valuable insights into how entrepreneurship can be structured to maximize success while serving those who've served our country. In this deep-dive episode of The Red Light Report, Dr. Mike Belkowski takes you beyond the basics to explore why mitochondrial function is the true driver of health—and disease. After contrasting centralized vs. decentralized health paradigms, he reveals the root causes and systemic effects of mitochondrial dysfunction, using vivid analogies like “rocks in a river” to explain electron leakage and oxidative stress. From there, Mike unpacks the Six Pillars of Mitochondrial Health: 1. Energy Production – ATP synthesis & structured “EZ” water batteries 2. Biogenesis – Growing new mitochondria via PGC-1α, NRF1/2, TFAM 3. Mitophagy – Recycling damaged mitochondria through PINK1/Parkin 4. Fusion/Fission – Dynamic balancing of mitochondrial networks 5. Oxidative Stress Protection – Internal and supplemental antioxidants 6. Light Interaction – How red/NIR light supercharges bioenergetics Along the way, learn why methylene blue and red light therapy are synergistic brain- and mitochondria-boosters, why proper breathing and oxygen availability are non-negotiable, and how lifestyle tactics—from grounding to sun exposure—tie back to cellular power. Mike closes with a sneak peek at an upcoming all-in-one mitochondrial optimization product designed to tackle all six pillars at once. If you found the information in today's episode particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge.
