Today on the Logan Blackman Show we go over some of the stupid trends that are taking over sports media, and why it's more about garnering attention and clicks rather than actually talking about sports. With that, we take a look at some of the comparisons analysts have made regarding Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. We discuss why it's too insanely early to be comparing the two while also going over why Brady is, and should be, the GOAT. Sticking with quarterback conversations, we take a look at a rough list of the top 50 quarterbacks in NFL history, while also taking a sneak peak at a couple other top 50 lists as well. We then move to the NFL Playoffs and preview each match-up for Championship Sunday, as well as reveal our early pick for the Super Bowl. Finally, we take a look at the recently revealed finalists for each major award in the NFL. Enjoy!

At Veritas Academy, we read books. We use chalkboards. We sit around tables with students and have in-depth discussions. We get our Grammar School students to retain information by moving and shouting to chants and songs. We write essays - with pencils and paper. And we require all high school students' phones to remain in their lockers for the duration of the school day. Veritas - like most classical Christian schools around the country - is decidedly a "low-tech" kind of school. Are we doing our children a disservice by sending them into a high-tech world woefully unprepared to use the latest technology? In this podcast, Head of School Ty Fischer begs this question to our guests - Graham Dennis, Veritas Dean of Students, and John Hayward, Veritas alumni, former Upper School Dean at Covenant Christian Academy in Harrisburg, and senior pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Their discussion leads to the resounding conclusion that, no, we most certainly are not impeding our children's ability to thrive in our modern world by limiting their use of technology. In fact, the opposite holds true: we are uniquely preparing them to flourish in their careers, communities, and families by cultivating virtues and skills that many of their peers may sorely be missing. Listen in to get some thoughtful perspectives, and be inspired on the benefits of a low-tech education! The media world over the last few week has been rocked by major disruptions: Fox ousts Tucker Carlson, CNN fires Don Lemon, BuzzFeed News is shutting down, Twitter has become a less reliable resource, and Vice Media shutters its flagship program “Vice News Tonight.” Over the last two decades, the media landscape has transformed with the advent of social media, and signs of another evolution are surfacing. This week on Deconstructed, Ryan Grim is joined by Ben Smith, the editor-in-chief of Semafor, to talk about his new book "Traffic: Genius, Rivalry, and Delusion in the Billion-Dollar Race to Go Viral.” They discuss the role social media played in transforming media and politics over the last 15 years, and how one of the most viral moments in history alarmed Facebook. If you'd like to support our work, go to theintercept.com/give, where your donation, no matter what the amount, makes a real difference. And if you haven't already, please subscribe to the show so you can hear it every week. On this episode of The DiscipleMakers Podcast, we talked with Brian Roberg about social media. With more and more of our social interaction happening online these days, it is important for us to consider how we interact with the different social media platforms we use to communicate with others. Why are we doing it? What do we hope to get out of these interactions? And most importantly, what do we want others to take away?We talked about these questions in the course of our conversation with Brian, and also considered the motives of the companies that run social media platforms. Towards the end of the episode, we also explored the exciting opportunities we have this fall to meet new students on campus through social media, and invite them into our fellowships. -- Resources from this episode: Help us meet students this fall! Can't we make that the new social craze of this new decade? I'm not saying to ditch social media in 2020--I'm saying, lets make it a more healthy habit than what we did in the 2010s. We can do better! We ARE better! Let's look up from the screen with 2020 vision to say--Yes! World, come on let's do this. Unfortunately, it's not going to happen if you're always looking down. Let's start connecting again, but that requires you to put away the screen and look at each other in the eyes--and while you're at it--smile. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/dr-janet-johnson/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dr-janet-johnson/support

That privacy in the digital age is an important concept to be discussed is axiomatic. Cameras in mobile phones make it easy to record events and post them on the web. Consumers post an enormous amount of information on social media sites. And much of this information is made publicly available. A common question, then, is what can people truly expect to be be private when so much information is accessible. In his new book Privacy in the New Media Age (University Press of Florida 2015), Jon L. Mills (University of Florida, Levin College of Law), discusses another issue related to privacy in the digital environment: the conflict between privacy and freedom of expression. In so doing, Mills examines how the law, particularly in the United States, is always chasing advances in technology, and discusses how countries in the European Union have attempted to tackle this matter. Throughout the book he discusses famous court cases that illustrate the issues with privacy and new media in an attempt to come to a resolution for the dispute. Just listen.
