We love Tabu! And so does everyone else apparently. What's not to love? She's strong, fearless, complex, talented and plays complicated characters with an astounding ease. Truth be told, we may be a little scared of her? Pitu desperately wants to have tea with her but is also nervous about it.We discuss her movies Kadhal Desam (1996), Astitva (2000), and Haider (2014), with a momentary foray into a favorite scene in Andhadhun (2018).What are your favorite Tabu films or performances?Subscribe to Filmi Ladies on Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/7Ib9C1X5ObvN18u9WR0TK9 or Apple Podcastshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/filmi-ladies/id1642425062@filmiladies on Instagram Pitu is @pitusultan on InstagramBeth is @bethlovesbollywood on BlueskyEmail us at filmiladies at gmailSee our letterboxd for everything discussed on this podcast. https://boxd.it/qSpfyOur logo was designed by London-based artist Paula Ganoo @velcrothoughts on Instagram https://www.art2arts.co.uk/paula-vaughan

We already name-dropped Daredevil and Hitchcock in the Contrarians Corner write-up, so let's reference our friend Peter Bogdanovich in Real Talk, because… wouldn't he had loved this elevator pitch? They did it. Those madmen (and madwomen) at The MCU actually did it and pulled all the strings in the world to get a sort of live-action Spider-verse movie to close out Tom Holland's first Spider-Trilogy. Can this work for anyone who doesn't have decades of emotional investment in Spider-Man as a movie character, and perhaps even more so, anyone who doesn't have decades of attachment to his comic book adventures? Dil Toh Filmy Hai's Director's First Series sheds light on successful Bollywood directors whose directorial debuts may have been forgotten. In this episode, we discuss director Sriram Raghavan, who is known for directing films like Andhadhun, Badlapur and Agent Vinod. However, people may have forgotten that his debut film was something else altogether. Listen to Amreen & Shwayta on Dil Toh Filmy Hai to find out what Sriram Raghavan's debut film is!
Merry Christmas, director Sriram Raghavan's follow-up to the critical and commercial hit Andhadhun, is nothing to celebrate. We discuss the film's lack of discernible aesthetic, the complete absence of any spark between stars Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, and its baffling climax. Along the way, we discuss the decision to reduce an important child character to a plot device, and the increasingly illogical behaviour displayed by both central characters. — Hosted by Akhil Arora and Rohan Naahar, The Long Take is fully bootstrapped. Episode 9: AndhadhunRelease Date: 2018Bollywood doesn't often venture into the black comedy thriller genre but the rare times it does, it comes up with gems like Andhadhun. Our spotlight on Indian cinema continues with something completely different! We're closing out 2022 on a lighter note than horror and historical dramas, with 2018's Andhadhun!A series of mysterious events change the life of a blind pianist, who must now report a crime that he should technically know nothing of.In this year-end spotlight on Indian cinema, Ian, David, and Mark review Sriram Raghavan's bonkers crime dramedy, which had all three critics on the edge of their seats. From truly gasp-worthy twists and turns, to the struggle to find the good in a story packed with criminals , and an ending that recalls Alan Moore's The Killing Joke--Andhadhun is yet another example of how Indian filmmakers can turn stale Hollywood ingredients into an unexpectedly sumptuous experiential feast! Also, Ian struggles to pronounce the title correctly, and draws some striking parallels to the movie adaptations of Elmore Leonard's novels!Show Links:Watch the Andhadhun trailer.Support all of Earth's Mightiest Critics at their various outlets:Check out Mark "The Movie Man" Krawczyk's The Spoiler Room Podcast.Follow David Fowlie's film criticism at Keeping It Reel.Get educated with Don Shanahan at Every Movie Has a Lesson…...and 25YL...and the Cinephile Hissy Fit Podcast.Make Nice with Mike Crowley of You'll Probably Agree.Keep up with Annie Banks at Chuck Load of Comics....and MoviewebAnd stir things up with Will Johnson of the Cinephile Hissy Fit Podcast.Subscribe to, like, and comment on the Kicking the Seat YouTube channel!
We've seen him do comedy, we've seen him do social dramas, and some thrillers like Andhadhun too. But, how does he fare in An Action Hero as an action hero? On the latest episode of YKY we review and discuss our wining community poll viewer pick, 2018's Andhanhun. This review will include MAJOR SPOILERS so if you have not seen the film be warned. Directed and co-written by Sriram Raghaven and starring, Ayushmann Khurrana, Radhika Apte, Manav Vij, 70's and 80's Bollywood star, Anil Dhawan and in a performance that can only be called, delightfully evil, Tabu. This dark comedy thriller came highly recommended so we were all looking forward to seeing it. Did our viewers get it right with this choice? How does it compare to the other films we've seen so far? At any point does the cast break out in an RRR type dance number? Will we ever let our fans pick our movies again? You'll have to watch all the way through to find out. Thanks to all the participated in the poll.

From Andhadhun, Agent Vinod, Helicopter Eela, Johnny Gaddar, , Bell Bottom to Judgementall Hai Kya and the latest Ashutosh Gowariker's production Toolsidas Junior, music composer Daniel B George has carved his own niche in the Indian music industry. An award-winning music composer-arranger, Daniel never received any formal training in music. However, today, Daniel is a name to reckon with in Bollywood especially after his iconic 'piano' arrangements in Parineeta, 3 Idiots, Lage Raho Munnabhai to Andhadhun. He talks about his eventful, unconventional journey from composing jingles for around 300 advertisements for Pradeep Sarkar & Dibakar Banerjee, to assisting Shantanu Moitra to composing for Sriram Raghavan.

The train was invented by Englishman Dr Glenjamin Train back in the summer of 1997 when he realised what an incredible name he had for a new form of transportation. No of course, I'm being facetious: the truth is that no one knows how the locomotive was invented nor indeed how they work and those things will continue to remain a mystery as you tune in to listen to us discuss the Top 5 Movie Trains. Some incredible railway facts are only moments away courtesy of Peter Andre, a dedicated and enthusiastic ferroequinologist. With the notable exception of Dan none of us have seen any Indian cinema so I personally wasn't sure what to expect of the 2018 black comedy thriller ANDHADHUN. Ayushmann Khurrana plays the blind pianist Akash, who becomes embroiled in a murder alongside Hindi screen legends Tabu and Anil Dhawan, although the intrigue doesn't stop there. I advise you to go into this one blind yourself and watch the movie on our recommendation as the skill and craft on display from director Sriram Raghavan is matched by the audacity and complexity of the screenplay. Currently on Netflix in the UK, this outstanding film will inevitably be remade by Hollywood, no doubt as an inferior product starring someone awful, Ashton Kutcher let's say. It's King Thistle's birthday and the residents of the Little Kingdom are under strict instructions not to mention it to the miserable monarch in BEN & HOLLY'S LITTLE KINGDOM, the sophomore effort from Peppa Pig producers Mark Baker & Neville Astley. Sharing much of the same voice cast, a similar dynamic and the same classic animation style will this be a case of familiarity breeding contempt? We love to hear from our listeners! By which I mean we tolerate it. Try us on twitter @dads_film, on Facebook Bad Dads Film Review or on our website baddadsfilm.com.Until next time, we remain...Bad Dads

This week we ventured to India and got into the 2018 film, Andhadhun. The main character Akash, is a piano player pretending to be blind, who seemingly can't stay out of problems after witnessing a murder.
A piano teacher was pretending to be blind so that he can be a step above his competition. People would often take advantage of him - tripping him, trying to take his money, and blatantly doing outrageous things in front of him. But when an elite power couple decides to go as far as committing murder in front of his very eyes while he plays the piano. What will he do now? How will he tell the police without giving himself up? And what happens when the couple becomes suspicious of his blindness and wants to eliminate him.

Twain wrote: “The Lie, as a recreation, a solace, a refuge in time of need, the fourth Grace, the tenth Muse, man's best and surest friend, is immortal, and cannot perish from the earth.” We examine this immortality of the Lie and its bete noire, the Truth, in today’s episode. The legend of Ashwathama, the contribution of Dharmvir Bharti to our intellectual landscape, the unreliable narrator of Andhadhun, the straight-as-an-arrow Dharmendra in Satyakam and the lies in the fiction of Premchand and RK Narayan – we look for the role of deception and honesty in all of them. Is truth distinct or is it amorphous? Is it always a contested notion? What do we make of fake news in our culture? We cover them all in our ramble. In spotlight we feature an artist whose masterly frames adorned some of the greatest moments in Hindi cinema. Someone who blended a finely honed aesthetic sensibility with strong technical expertise that made him the first ‘technician’ to be honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke award. Ayushmann Khurrana is currently considered to be one of the best actors that Bollywood has to offer. From his start in Roadies he has now achieved success in nine movies out of a total of thirteen. His performance as a blind pianist in Andhadhun won him the National Film Award for Best Actor and all his movies in 2018 and 2019 have achieved both critical and commercial success. This puts him squarely on a path to big time success

A one-of-a-kind intelligent thriller or a predictable gimmicky Hitchcock rip-off? They feud, you decide! On this week's feud, Vidur and Vikram debate a “homegrown” top rated movie, 2018’s bollywood phenomenon - Andhadhun. Vidur refuses to be blinded by the hype around this new entrant to the IMDB top 250 while all Vikram can see is that it 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. After they get the blind puns over with and a brief discussion about whether its the year of Radhika Apte, Vidur brings up various movies and directors that did it better, including Andhadhun’s director Sriram Raghavan himself in his previous work, the Coen brothers and Woody Allen. Things heat up when Vikram can’t take it anymore and begins revering the most famous sequence from the movie, calling it jaw dropping. Vidur puts on his technical hat and starts complaining about camera angles and blocking. By the time they get around to discussing theories about the ending, Vidur is shaking his head and refusing to listen. Don’t forget to let us know who you think won the feud on facebook (http://bit.ly/2CbMmD5) , instagram (http://bit.ly/2VFVhFE) and twitter (http://bit.ly/2FmOtXV) . After they get the blind puns over with and a brief discussion about whether its the year od Radhika Apte, Vidur brings up various movies and directors that did it better, including Andhadhun’s director Sriram Raghavan himself in his previous work, the Coen brothers and Woody Allen. Episode 34: A look at Sriram Raghavan's body of work that leads up to his latest film, AndhaDhun - starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte.
Sriram Raghavan is Hindi cinema's thriller master. His films are filled with dark and dirty people – criminals and gamblers, murderers and conmen. His films are also filled with references to older Hindi films. But in Andhadhun, Sriram takes the homage further. Anil Dhawan, star of 70s pulp classics like Chetna and Darwaza, plays a version of himself – a yesteryear star who spends too much time revisiting his past glory.
