Jack Ruby: A Review and Reassessment - Part 1 Jack Ruby: A Review and Reassessment - Part 2 Jack Ruby: A Review and Reassessment - Part 3 Chaos: Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties: O'Neill, Tom, Piepenbring, Dan: Order Here Mind Games: The Assassination of John Lennon: Whelan, David: Order Here Len shows his appreciation to Max & other researchers who put out good work. Reading Chaos by Tom O'Neill became inspiration for Max's deep dig into the Jack Ruby case. Max found it highly suspect that the MK ULTRA psychiatrist Louis Jolyon "Jolly" West was involved. When West died, he left thousands of papers that were donated & archived at UCLA. O'Neill was able to view West's documents before they were picked through by UCLA archivists. O'Neill raises the question of MK ULTRA being implemented on Jack Ruby. Was Jack tortured? On a road trip, Max stopped in L.A., spending a day at the UCLA archives to view West's files. Jolly West was performing experiments in the Haight Ashbury during the 'Summer of Love'. Taking 2000+ photos of the documents, Max has been reviewing them over the past couple of years. Jack Ruby has a psychotic break at the same time of West's involvement. Coincidence? Max discovered that West was actually involved in Ruby's case by November 29th, not March 1964! Realizing how significant it was that Jolly West was involved with Ruby, Max pressed on. Len & Max discuss the history & different aspects of MK ULTRA. Len notes that the experiments & participating universities or clinics were funded by Dept. Of Defence. Psychiatrist Bernard Diamond performed experiments on Sirhan Sirhan, hypnotizing him. How could Sirhan Sirhan not remember the events surrounding his involvement in RFK's shooting? Mark David Chapman sat down on the ground & started reading a book after shooting Lennon? Notice how the same doctors are involved in these sensationalist cases, over & over? During WWII the OSS & various armies were experimenting with truth drugs & mind control. Operation Bluebird & Operation Artichoke were the predecessors to MK ULTRA. The mind control programs have not stopped. Note the connections to military You can't count on any governmental agency to do an honest investigation? Governments participate in the planning of these events, the cover ups & neglect to investigate. Oswald's murder was the first televised murder in history. Melvin Belli didn't mention how soon he was involved in Ruby's case! Mere days! Max's intuition & research has lead him to believe Oswald's murder was premeditated. West worked fast from Oklahoma to organize a group of psychiatrists to work on Ruby. Jack hadn't been insane before the shooting of Oswald, or after. He was being manipulated. Tom Howard, Ruby's 1st lawyer was involved in Ruby's case within an hour of Oswald’s shooting. Howard was the first person to public ally state that Ruby wasn't in his right mind.

With the 60th anniversary of the assassinations of JFK & Lee Harvey Oswald, Danny Fingeroth brings us the new biography, JACK RUBY: The Many Faces of Oswald's Assassin (Chicago Review Press). Danny & I talk about what drew him to tell Ruby's story, how many JFK conspiracy rabbit-holes he had to avoid, the challenges of separating Ruby's life from myth & speculation, and how the bio began as a graphic novel collaboration with Rick Geary (!) before its prose incarnation (although he's still hoping for an adaptation). We get into what he learned from talking to Ruby's rabbi, Hillel Silverstein, the figures he would have loved to interview for this book, what Ruby's siblings & their kids went through in the aftermath of Jack's moment of infamy, the circus of Ruby's murder trial and Melvin Belli's failed epilepsy defense, and the danger of treating Ruby's life like a sitcom. We also discuss Danny's dizzying résumé, including his 20-year run as a writer & editor at Marvel Comics, discovering himself as a biographer with Stan Lee: A Marvelous Life, the complexity of the (working) relationships of Lee, Jack Kirby & Steve Ditko, the surreal of experience of meeting Gabe Kaplan while promoting JACK RUBY, and more! The Enterprise responds to a distress call from a Federation outpost on the planet Triacus, only to arrive and find that the entire research team is dead from apparent suicide. What could have caused this? Only the surviving children know for sure, but they're too wrapped up in playing "Ring Around the Rosie" to care about their dead parents. After beaming back to the Enterprise, Captain Kirk discovers that the children are acting as a conduit to spread an evil force across the galaxy, and that force has incapacitated the entire crew from doing anything stop it. And so it goes with "And the Children Shall Lead," which has been widely panned for decades as one of the worst episodes of the entire series. But after producing four strong episodes in a row, how could the third season have taken such a big nosedive, and so quickly? Turns out it was a perfect storm of having a first-time "Star Trek" writer and a first-time "Trek" director being overseen by a new producer who didn't really get what "Star Trek" was all about. And then there was the ill-advised casting of attorney Melvin Belli in the key role of the "friendly angel." Though other fine episodes would soon follow, "And the Children Shall Lead" deserve its notorious reputation as the nadir of "Star Trek," and it sadly marks the beginning of the end of a once-great series. Welcome to our serial killer podcast. For fans of the true crime podcast genre. This is episode 5 of our serial killer podcast, and in this episode we take a look at one of the more peculiar happenings in the Zodiac Killer saga. It is an early October morning in 1969, just days after the brutal slaying of San Francisco cabbie Paul Stine, when a phone call is placed to the Oakland Police Department. The caller claims that they are the Zodiac, and demands to speak to either F. Lee Bailey or Melvin Belli on the Jim Dunbar show at 6AM. SFPD detectives Dave Toschi and Bill Armstrong are tasked with bringing the flamboyant San Francisco lawyer Melvin Belli to the KGOTV Studios ahead of this unknown person calling in to the show. What plays out during this early morning TV show was unforgettable for those who watched it live. Belli arranges a one on one meeting with the caller, what will happen? Will this caller who is claiming to be a serial killer show up? Keep watching our serial killer podcast to find out! In the aftermath of the call the police work frantically to trace who the caller was, in the hopes that they would be able to bring justice to the victims of the zodiac killer. However, as it would turn out, this caller was not quite who they were expecting. And The Children Shall Lead was the fourth episode of Star Trek's third season to air, with a group of children attempting to take control of the Enterprise with the aid of a ghoulish green apparition. In this episode Gerry and Iain discuss the old adage about working with children and animals. After the death of all the adults on a Federation colony, the apparently unaffected children come on board the Enterprise to be transported to the nearest Starbase. The eldest child, Tommy (Craig Hundley) leads the others in a series of games that show no indication of having processed the deaths of their parents. It soon transpires that the children are in the thrall of a Gorgon (celebrity attorney Melvin Belli) who encourages them to take control of the ship and change its destination, putting the safety of all aboard at risk. And The Children Shall Lead was directed by Marvin Chomsky, the first of his three episodes in the chair. The writer was Edward J. Lakso, thankfully his only writing credit for the show. In this episode Gerry and Iain considered why these children were quite so irritating. The discussion continues in the comments below and please keep in touch with us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram where we're @trekpodcast. You can listen to the show here on the website, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Pocket Casts, TuneIn, Stitcher, Google or wherever you find your podcasts. And The Children Shall Lead was released in 1968. It is 50 minutes long and originally aired on the NBC network. It can be viewed on Paramount+ in the United states, Netflix in the UK and is available on DVD and Blu Ray in other countries, including a comprehensive remastered set of all three seasons released by Paramount Home Entertainment.

His name may have millennials scratching their heads, but the late F. Lee Bailey was a major figure in the field of Law, even after his disbarment. Bailey is best known for being a criminal defense lawyer in several high-profile cases including the Boston Strangler, Patty Hearst, O.J. Simpson, and the court-martial of Captain Ernest Medina during Vietnam where he met Melvin Belli and our very own Robert Lieff. Though he was nowhere near as successful as Belli, Jack Russo and Robert Lieff discuss why Bailey is still recognized as one of the most famous lawyers in American history.

Father William Riker was the founder of The Perfect Christian Divine Way, which was not perfect, Christian, or divine! Set in the 1920s - 1940s in his heyday, Holy City is located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, California, between Santa Clara County (Silicon Valley) and Santa Cruz. A couple of things that were not mentioned in the podcast: 1.) Melvin Belli was a prominent American lawyer known as "The King of Torts" and by insurance companies as "Melvin Bellicose". He had many celebrity clients, including Zsa Zsa Gabor, Errol Flynn, Chuck Berry, Muhammad Ali, The Rolling Stones, Jim Bakker and Tammy Faye Bakker, Martha Mitchell, Maureen Connolly, Lana Turner, Tony Curtis, and Mae West. During his legal career, he won over $600 million in damages for his clients. He was also the attorney for Jack Ruby, who shot Lee Harvey Oswald for the assassination of President John F. Serene and Steve survey the first six songs of the Winter Trance Party album, a song cycle that originally set out to be the soundtrack to a children's story Serene wrote about a bunch of kids that communicate with the dead rock stars, specifically those who perished during of the Winter Dance Party of 1959when a charter plane crashed in a frozen cornfield and took the lives of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper. While the morose children's story never got turned into an app as originally intended (the paid app was going to include the album for free), he did succeed in crafting a suitably psychedelic chill down album. Serene and Steve go into length about the Winter Dance Party and go off on some tangents involving defense attorney Melvin Belli, Peter Pan records, The Million Dollar Movie and Sy Sperling., the President of Hair Club for MenSongs include "Friendly Angel Revisited," "Winter Trance Party," "Crazed Shape Shifter," "Rezo Para Donna," "Heartbreaking Machine" and "Carbon Footprint Man."Click here to stream the entire Winter Trance Party album!Click here to watch all the Winter Trance Party and subscribe to the Serene Dominic YouTube channel!Check out the Buddy Holly biography Serene was reading during the making of this album!Catch Serene Dominic's weekly livecast "The Human Torch Floor Show" every Thursday at 8:30 MST on facebook.com/serenedominic
57 years after the fact and people are still asking what really happened during the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. There are multiple theories floating around ranging from lone assassin to government conspiracy with several shooters. The most widely accepted version of events today is that Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald, who was then shot and killed by Jack Ruby, who was defended in court by none other than Melvin Belli. Robert Lieff, who had joined the Belli firm between Ruby's conviction and appeal, tells Jack Russo what Melvin Belli believed happened to JFK in 1963, the theory that Belli was hired by mafia to represent Jack Ruby and the believability of these theories. What is the inside story of Jack Ruby? Is there even one? Also in discussion: California State Lands Commission v. Plains Pipeline, L.P.

Ismeretlen okokból minden felnőtt kutató végez magával a Triacus kolónián, az állomáson élő gyermekek azonban gyász nélkül vesznek tudomást a szüleik távozásáról: hamarosan kiderül, hogy a fiatalokat egy eltűnt civilizáció utolsó képviselője tartja az irányítása alatt, aki a világuralmi ambícióinak megvalósítása érdekében egy sűrűn benépesített világ felé téríti az Enterprise legénységét. Aktuális adásunkban ’A megkísértés’ című epizódról beszélgetünk. Rövid hírszekció: • Augusztus 6-án érkezik a Lower Decks, most már tudjuk, hogyan néz ki a USS Cerritos. Az eddig ismert információkról, karakterekről Dave korábbi cikkéből informálódhattok. • Tom és Harry nehézkes karakterfejlődése: új részletek a Voyager közkedvelt “haverjairól”, valamint a sorozat készítésének hátteréről. • Gergő mozgáskorlátozottan és nehéz körülmények között élő Trekker, akinek most te is segíthetsz: látogassátok meg a Holl Nándor által éltre keltett adományozó kampány Facebook oldalát, és nézzétek vissza Tuvok magyar hangjának beszélgetését Híresember Nil videójában (ebből egy részletet adásunkban is hallhattok). A kibeszélő tartalmából: • Nehezen emészthető gyermekszereplők, és egy furcsa módon felöltöztetett vendégszereplő, aki valójában ügyész: hogyan lett ’A megkísértés’ a legrosszabb Star Trek epizódok egyike? • Kirk a fekete barlangban: míg az angol változatban a kapitány szövege teljesen értelmes, ha visszafelé játsszuk, a magyar verzióban se előre, se hátra nem található létező szó. • A zöld színű Melvin Belli: a hang elváltoztatása, valamint az átlátszó, szellemszerű megjelenés az ügyész színészi hiányosságainak leplezése miatt vált szükségessé, amit maga Gene Roddenberry javasolt. • A Tommy szerepében látható Craig Huxley játszotta Kirk unokaöccsét (Peter Kirköt) a Paraziták (Operation -- Annihilate!, TOS 1x29) című epizódban, Brian Tochi pedig később a TNG-ben is látható (Lin zászlós a Night Terrors című epizódban).
Most lawyers retire after a few decades of law practice; Robert Lieff is not one of them. With nearly 60 years of practice under his belt, there's not much Robert hasn't come across. Listen in as Jack and Robert talk about his mentoring by (and then transition from) Mel Belli and the formation of Lieff Cabraser as well as the tactics he learned from the “King of Torts” and he taught the “Queen of Court” in big cases such as against Big Tobacco. Though he is now slowly transitioning to retirement, he remains active with class action cases against Roundup®️and pro bono help at the Global Justice Forum and with the Global Justice Network both of which he founded to mentor others with his class action experience and expertise.
On October 22, 1969, a man who claimed to be the Zodiac called in to a Bay Area TV show and talked with lawyer Melvin Belli by telephone. A surviving victim and two police dispatchers who talked with the real Zodiac all agreed that the caller known as "Sam" was an impostor, but decades of confusion and popular myths in the books written by Robert Graysmith and the film adaptation by director David Fincher left some people convinced that the real Zodiac was responsible for the telephone calls to the TV show as well as later calls to Belli's home. As usual, the facts tell a very different story.Written and produced by Michael Butterfield for ZodiacKillerFacts.com / Copyright 2020Voice of "The Zodiac" by John Knight All music licensed and used by permission. “Run and Hide” and “Frozen Orb” composed and produced by Jens Kiilstofte. “Ghost” and “Creepy Piano Loop” composed and produced by JM Scherf. “Growing Shadows” created by Myuu. We're back!! On this weeks return episode, we recap a bit, and then move forward, covering correspondence between Zodiac and attorney Melvin Belli. We also address the "suspected" Zodiac abduction of Ms. Kathleen Johns. Was she really given a ride by the notorious killer, or was she simply looking for someone to pin it on?Thanks for hanging in there; it's good to be back. All audio clips are property of ABC, and NBC news. On October 22, 1969, the Oakland police department received a telephone call from a man who claimed to be the Zodiac. He demanded that famed attorney F. Lee Bailey or celebrity lawyer Melvin Belli appear on a Bay Area television talk show. Hours later, Belli and TV host Jim Dunbar spoke by telephone with a man called "Sam" who claimed to be the Zodiac in a televised spectacle. A surviving victim and two police dispatchers who talked with the real Zodiac all agreed that "Sam" was an impostor, but decades of confusion and popular myths left some people convinced that the real Zodiac was responsible for the telephone calls to the Dunbar show as well as later calls to the home of Melvin Belli. As usual, the facts tell a very different story in the next episode of ZODIAC: A TO Z titled "Melvin & Sam: The Strange Saga of a Zodiac Impostor."Written and produced by Michael Butterfield for ZodiacKillerFacts.com / Copyright 2019Voice of "The Zodiac" by John Knight All music licensed and used by permission. “Run and Hide” composed and produced by Jens Kiilstofte. “Ghost” composed and produced by JM Scherf.
Tread Perilously warps into Star Trek month with one of the least awesome episodes of the original series: "And the Children Shall Lead" When the Enterprise arrives on Triacus, they discover all of adult colonists have killed themselves in some sort of murder/suicide pact. Their children, meanwhile, play "Ring Around the Rosie." After experiencing a lack of confidence in a nearby cave, Captain Kirk beams the landing party and the children back to the ship. There, the children summon Gorgan (special guest star Melvin Belli), an ancient marauding spirit dedicated to finding his way to a planet filled with people. Will the children lead him to that world? Erik and Justin determine this is the episode everyone but Shatner did unwillingly. Justin also develops a theory behind great episodes of Star Trek and terrible ones. The pair's fascination with Brian Cox's portrayal of Melvin Belli in Zodiac fails them as Belli's part turns out to be quite small. They nonetheless imagine what his podcast would've been like. Erik's Spock impression disappears entirely into his Kirk impression. The sad UFP flag gets a shoutout. Space knives turn out to be less impressive than hoped for and DeForest Kelley becomes a minor villain in Justin's world.
Hey Gang! Episode 300 is finally upon us and so is our favorite movie of all time, the 2007 film Zodiac. In this giant episode we talk all things Zodiac, along with Robert Downey Jr’s career at the time of filming; how long this movie was in post production (it was a while); Bri breaks down how he’s been with a different girlfriend for each of the releases of Zodiac; we discuss who almost played Melvin Belli; the Cheri Jo Bates murder is dissected; and we talk a lot about Arthur Leigh Allen who we think is most likely the Zodiac. Please Forgive This is a Film Podcast. About Films.
On Tuesday, March 4, 1964, Jury Selection finally ended, but not without controversy. Protesters pass out literature that damages Jack Ruby's main defense, one of the lawyers is held in contempt, reporters send Judge Brown a get well card, and Henry Wade and Melvin Belli give us a preview of their cases. All of this on the eve of the State of Texas vs. Jack Ruby, The Original Trial of the Century.
We look at the letters following the murder of Paul Stine, the reasons these feel like Zodiac knew that he wasn't going to do it again, how Melvin Belli fit in, and why would he be so poor at spelling.
Focusing for the first time on why attorney general Robert F. Kennedy wasn't killed in 1963 instead of on why President John F. Kennedy was, Mark Shaw offers a stunning and provocative assassination theory that leads directly to the family patriarch, Joseph P. Kennedy. Mining fresh information and more than 40 new interviews, Shaw weaves a spellbinding narrative involving Mafia don Carlos Marcello; Jack Ruby (Lee Harvey Oswald's killer); Ruby's attorney, Melvin Belli; and, ultimately, the Kennedy brothers and their father. Shaw addresses these tantalizing questions: Why, shortly after his brother's death, did a grief-stricken RFK tell a colleague, "I thought they would get one of us...I thought it would be me"? Why was Belli, an attorney with almost no defense experience (but proven ties to the Mafia), chosen as Jack Ruby's attorney? How does Belli's Mafia connection call into question his legal strategy, which ultimately led to the Ruby's first-degree murder conviction and death sentence? What was Joseph Kennedy's relationship to organized crime? And how was his insistence that JFK appoint RFK as attorney general tantamount to signing the president's death warrant? Letter from America by Alistair Cooke: The Clinton Years (1993-1996)
A reflection on the life and legal crusade of the flamboyant US celebrity lawyer Melvin Belli, self-proclaimed defender of the 'little helpless guy'.
In this bonus episode we dive into a haunting chapter of the Zodiac killer saga when the notorious serial killer directly reaches out for help through a dramatic interaction with famed attorney Melvin Belli. On October 22, 1969, in an audacious move, the Zodiac demanded Belli appear on a popular morning TV show, igniting a series of events filled with hope and deception. The episode unravels this bizarre engagement through the lens of Belli and the call-in show, capturing the tense exchanges and the desperate pleas of a caller identifying himself as 'Sam,' claiming to suffer from unbearable headaches since committing his crimes. The narrative takes a darker turn as it explores the aftermath of the televised plea, detailing a planned but failed meeting between Belli and the Zodiac in Daly City, and the investigative twists that followed. This episode sheds light on the complexities of tracing the Zodiac's calls, the skepticism around the authenticity of 'Sam,' and the chilling realization that the Zodiac's communication might just be another manipulative game in his terrifying spree. In December 1969, a letter arrives at Belli's office, accompanied by a piece of blood-stained clothing from victim Paul Stine, reinforcing the grim reality of the Zodiac's deadly actions and his cryptic interactions with the public figures he drew into his orbit.Visit us online at itsfoulplay.comJoin our Patreon and community at Patreon.com/itsfoulplayOur Sponsors:* Check out Recess and use my code SHANE for a great deal: http://www.takearecess.com* Check out mylifeinabook.com and use code SHANE at checkout for 10% off.
