As summer draws to a close with Labor Day weekend, enjoy this encore broadcast featuring Bob Bailey as Johnny Dollar in episodes where "the man with the action-packed expense account" tries to take some time off from insurance investigating...and finds mystery waiting for him wherever he goes. We'll hear him in "The Lamarr Matter," a five-part adventure (originally aired on CBS between March 26 and March 30, 1956) and "The Ideal Vacation Matter" (originally aired on CBS on September 22, 1957).
Our August episode of Purely Academic is one of our busiest recordings to date, as Sean and Jonathan break down how they spent their summer vacations, and talk about the start of the new school year. Sean tells us about some of the legal insanity affecting education in Texas, while Jonathan explains why he created a bunch of feature-length anime fan edits for various classes he's teaching this semester. We discuss a bunch of video games both old and new, from Donkey Kong Bananza and Mafia: The Old Country, to Sean falling down the Dark Souls rabbit hole again and Jonathan finding himself many hours into a new playthrough of the original Pokémon Blue. Jonathan also talks about binging the entire run of Showtime's Dexter, and finally, Sean is up for The Monthly Ten, counting down the Top 10 podcast topics he would most dread doing. The Bible tells us that we will face suffering and persecution merely for living godly lives, but that our relationship with God is more valuable than avoiding that suffering. Everyone suffers, but the difference between the world and us is that we have the power of God in us and His presence surrounding us at all times.

It's one of the saddest things I can think of:What if God were ready to bless but we weren't ready to receive? In this latest installment of our series What I Learned on Summer Vacation, we talked about the urgency of preparation.I love what the Apostle Peter told the early church:Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.“Preparing your minds for action….”What a great exhortation. This past Sunday, I talked about some really big things we have coming up, and what it will take for us to be prepared for God to use these things and do something great.

Episode 175 of The Letterman Podcast is our quintessential summer vacation episode — and we mean that literally and hilariously. While spending time at Irene Hoffman's stunning generational property by the sea in Greece, three beloved friends of the show — Rupert Jee, Irene Hoffman, and Steve Young — decided that a Letterman Podcast must be done. And what a delightful episode it turned out to be!Mike connects with the gang as they recount their Mediterranean adventure, including highlights of their trip, the laughter they shared, and the creative magic that struck while they were basking in Grecian sunshine. Steve, known as one of the all-time great writers from Late Show with David Letterman, continues to evolve as a brilliant and absurd performer, and this scenic getaway only amplified his creative genius. This is a relaxed, joyful, and thoroughly entertaining installment that reminds us how the Letterman family keeps finding ways to surprise and inspire — even halfway across the world. This episode is brought to you by our only sponsor — the legendary Hello-Deli.com — the one-stop shop for official Late Show with David Letterman merchandise, run by the one and only Rupert Jee.If you enjoyed this episode, we'd love it if you'd like, share, subscribe, and leave a positive comment. We know there are a million podcasts out there, but only one has this kind of beautiful nonsense — and only one of us is still paying off the Greek yogurt bar tab from this recording. Opa!

You ever unplug long enough to actually feel again? In this episode, I pull back the curtain on what really matters—not headlines, not hustle culture, not market panic. But moments. Memories. Legacy. After 18 hours in a car, hiking Zion, dodging rattlesnakes, and road-tripping with my wife and kids, I realized how little time we actually have with the people we love—and how much time we waste worrying about shit we can't control. This one's personal. We talk about the power of presence, why you're probably putting off the wrong things, and how our obsession with productivity is robbing us of purpose.I also drop a preview of what's coming for No BS Wealth. Every year, I come back from summer vacation with lots of things on my mind to share with Asbury. This year, it's one simple verb that has really got me thinking: the verb “learned.”As in “I learned to be content” (Philippians 4:11).Here's why that word means so much to me.

Hey mama, This week's Monday Mindset is for anyone who's ever lost themselves in the packing lists, matching outfits, and never-ending to-dos… and needed a gentle reminder that the real magic isn't in the plan…it's in the moment. In today's episode, I'm sharing a personal story as I prepare for a meaningful trip to Ireland with my family... celebrating my mama's 80th birthday, reconnecting with family across the globe, and showing my kids the beauty of their heritage. And it's all wrapped around one powerful quote: “The best things in life aren't things—they're moments.” So whether you're headed out on a big trip or simply soaking up summer from your backyard, this is your permission slip to slow down and be present. Here's what we're talking about in this episode: ✔️ Why perfection can steal your joy… and what to do instead ✔️ The emotional power of simple, everyday moments ✔️ How to ground yourself in gratitude during family travel ✔️ A mindset shift to help you release the pressure to “do it all” ✔️ My challenge to you for creating sacred, connected memories this summer
