Three years ago, America was fundamentally transformed, not by an “insurrection,” but by those who engineered a riot at the Capitol – and what they've done to weaponize and exploit that event ever since. The few who engaged in actual crimes that day posed no credible threat of overthrowing the government of the United States. And many hundreds of patriotic American citizens peacefully demonstrating on the Hill have been prosecuted, jailed, bankrupted and otherwise unconstitutionally subjected to “cruel and unusual punishment,” thanks in part to the suppression of exculpatory evidence of official decisions that facilitated their entry into the Capitol and provoked the crowd. At Valley Forge today, President Biden will continue his practice of vilifying not just them, but half the country who were also disenfranchised and have been portrayed ever since as “enemies of democracy” and potential “violent extremists.” Really? This is Frank Gaffney.
We all love to live at peace. Yet it's inevitable… In life we have some enemies — real enemies. Who are they? How do we face them? Find out TODAY as Pastor Steve dives into the book of 1 Peter and helps you discover the tools you need to live life Out of Darkness!
2 Corinthians 9:6-11; St. Luke 7:11-16. After sharing a brief meditation on the epistle reading (we are temples, made for divinity), Fr. Anthony talks about the requirement that we love our enemies, noting that it is made harder when our fallen imaginations constantly create them almost ex-nihilo and when our tribal propagandists are feeding us with a constant stream of opposition research that makes hating people we have not even met seem natural and righteous. We have to find a different way to think about others, to include those few who really are objectively seeking to cause our ruin. We have to be transformed into love so that our vision makes the justification for that love obvious (St. Matthew 6:22-23). Enjoy the show!

Where do conspiracy theories come from? Why do people believe them? What do they mean? Did the CIA drug people with LSD against their will? Is Queen Elizabeth a reptilian? We consider the merits and pitfalls of conspiracy theories, trace the history and evolution of the conspiratorial tradition from rumors about lepers in the 1300s to Alex Jones and Q-Anon, and examine the biases and double standards built into the very concept of “conspiracy theories.” This is it: the most thorough, fair, and impartial examination of conspiracy theories that you will ever find anywhere. SPIRITUAL WARFARE SERIES: #3 — EVIL SPIRITS ARE HUMANS REAL ENEMIES Satan and his cohorts are responsible for the disorder in the world. They have saturated the world with evil. All the world's systems (political religious, commercial, social, education, etc.) are under the influence of evil spirits. In their bid to take many humans with them to the lake of fire, they have an obstacle: faithful followers of Christ—citizens of the Kingdom of God on earth—preaching the gospel of Christ once for all delivered to the saints, that good news that is freeing his captives and making them heavenly citizens. Is it really just coincidence that the leaders of the West like Biden , Trudeau, Johnson and Merkel have made so many bad decisions about energy, money, immigration, and so much more, all at the same time? Or could it all be by design?
My enemies are not in Moscow or Beijing. My enemies are in Washington, Arlington, Langley, Wall Street, Silicon Valley, and Hollywood. And so are yours. The only question is whether or not you realize it yet. Reading by Tim Foley.

This week, I was so pleased to welcome to the podcast a fellow writer and a tennis fan - yes, I had to get that in there - Isaac Butler. Co-author of "The World Only Spins Forward: The Ascent of Angels in America," which NPR.Org named one of the best books of 2018, Isaac Butler's writing has appeared in "New York Magazine," "Slate," "The Guardian," "American Theatre," and other publications. For "Slate," he created and hosted "Lend Me Your Ears," a podcast about Shakespeare and politics and he currently co-hosts "Working," a pod dedicated to the creative process. Additionally, a director whose work has been seen on stages across the country, he is the co-creator of "Real Enemies," a multimedia exploration of conspiracy theories in the American psyche, which was not only named one of the best live events of 2015 by "The New York Times" but has also been adapted into a feature-length film. An MFA graduate in creative nonfiction from the University of Minnesota who teaches theater history and performance at the New School and elsewhere, most recently, he became the author of the richly detailed, utterly fascinating book "The Method: How the Twentieth Century Learned to Act," which is what we're here to talk about today. Joining me to share stories involving the history of The Method as well as its many practitioners, we discuss some of the eye-opening and enlightening discoveries that Isaac made as he wrote his terrific new book. Following that, we take a deeper look at the Method performances of everyone from John Garfield to Jessica Lange that are on display in the films "Four Daughters," "Wild River," "Paris Blues," and "Frances" (1982).Originally Posted on Patreon (4/18/22) here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/65296760Logo: Kate Gabrielle (KateGabrielle.com)Theme Music: Solo Acoustic Guitar by Jason Shaw, Free Music Archive

“When I set out to write this book, I decided to approach it like a biography. After all, the Method had parents, obscure beginnings, fumbling toward its purpose, a spectacular rise, struggles as it reached the top, and an eventual decline.” This is how Isaac Butler articulates his project in The Method: How the Twentieth Century Learned to Act (Bloomsbury, February 2022). The Method tracks the origins of this transcontinental school of naturalistic acting and its many contradictions, including its emphasis on individualist achievement within communitarian organizations and the actorly tension between psychological interiority and external action when building a character. In following the life of this concept, Butler reveals the impossibly charming, ambitious, questionable cast of characters that have defined the terms of Western acting in the twentieth century. In the process, he clears up many of the public misunderstandings around Method as an approach and as a style. In this discussion, Butler details his first career in the theater as a professional actor, explores how Constantin Stanislavski's “system” of acting was the farthest thing from systematic, explains the difference between method and Method, and divulges the many rivalries and hostilities between American M/method practitioners and instructors at mid-century. Isaac Butler is the coauthor (with Dan Kois) of The World Only Spins Forward: The Ascent of Angels in America, which NPR named one of the best books of 2018. Butler's writing has appeared in New York magazine, Slate, the Guardian, American Theatre, and other publications. For Slate, he created and hosted Lend Me Your Ears, a podcast about Shakespeare and politics, and currently co-hosts Working, a podcast about the creative process. His work as a director has been seen on stages throughout the United States. He is the co-creator, with Darcy James Argue and Peter Nigrini, of Real Enemies, a multimedia exploration of conspiracy theories in the American psyche, which was named one of the best live events of 2015 by the New York Times and has been adapted into a feature-length film. Butler holds an MFA in creative nonfiction from the University of Minnesota and teaches theater history and performance at the New School and elsewhere. He lives in Brooklyn. The citizens of the U.S. have been subjected to an intensified attack on our republic over the last four years. Those responsible for the lies, slander and destruction of Russiagate are the initiators of endless wars, bailouts of speculative swindlers, frauds such as the Green New Deal, and the deindustrialization of manufacturing centers and destruction of American family farms which have cost jobs and lowered living standards. To defend our nation, it is necessary to know who this enemy is, and what is their intention—and that is what can now be brought forward in the fight to protect the integrity of the election system, which is under assault from those same networks, those run by today's British empire, for which the U.S., under the Bushes, Clintons, Obama and Biden, has been used to provide the military muscle to defend a global banker's dictatorship. Social Media Companies are the REAL Enemies of the People
In recent years, Americans have watched as our “first freedom,” religious liberty, is now openly despised by many who push the new sexual revolution. We’ve seen nuns forced to pay for contraceptives while bakers, wedding photographers and florists faced criminal and civil actions for living out their Christian convictions. Attorney General Jeff Sessions recently announced a new “Religious Liberty Task Force” warning that some in our society are now openly targeting religious groups “by labeling them a ‘hate group.’ The outrage from the Left is extremely instructive: The Democratic National Committee charged Sessions of “shamefully doubling down on bigotry.” Planned Parenthood called the task force “another license to discriminate.” One liberal commentator said the DOJ is trying to create “a regressive Christian white ethnostate.” No kidding. It’s as if they were trying to make the Attorney General’s case for him.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Isaac Butler and Dan Kois take us backstage and behind the scenes of the iconic play, "Angels In America" in their book, The World Only Spins Forward: The Ascent of Angels In America. The book is an oral history, telling the story of the play and its influence from the voices of over 250 actors, actresses, and others who have given Angels In Americaits wings over the past 25 years. According to Isaac Butler, the political and social views of the play are still as relevant in the Trump era as they were in the Reagan era. Angels In Americais currently running on Broadway through July 15th. Isaac Butler is a writer and theater director, most recently of "Real Enemies", which premiered at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
Isaac Butler is a writer and theater director, recently of The Trump Card, about the rise of Donald Trump with solo performer Mike Daisey. Isaac also wrote and directed Real Enemies, which was commissioned by the Brooklyn Academy of Music and named one of the top ten live events of 2015 by The New York Times. Along with Dan Kois, he is the co-author of the critically-acclaimed The World Only Spins Forward, a history of Angels in America which was just released this year. And, most recently, Isaac hosts a new podcast miniseries for Slate called Lend Me Your Ears, about Shakespeare’s plays and our modern views on politics. Isaac holds an MFA in creative nonfiction from the University of Minnesota, and his writing has appeared in the Guardian, Slate, American Theatre, the Los Angeles Review of Books, and other publications. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Every follower of Jesus understands, from personal experience, the war that rages inside us all. The war between following the leading of the the Holy Spirit and following the leading of our selfish desires. If we are fully aware of this battle, it will go a long way to help us be victorious.
Twenty-five years ago, Angels in America made its Broadway premier. It won the Pulitzer Prize for drama and the Tony Award for best play, but Tony Kushner’s landmark work was always more than just a theater piece. It changed the way gay lives are represented in popular culture and the story of its many productions is also the story of AIDS and the struggle for gay rights. In this vibrant oral history, Butler, writer and director of productions including The Trump Card and Real Enemies, and Kois, editor and writer for Slate’s culture section, bring together the voices of more than two hundred people closely associated with Angels, from Meryl Streep and Mary-Louise Parker to directors, producers, historians, critics, and Kushner himself, to reminisce, tell stories, debate, and celebrate a piece that’s as vital today as it was when it opened in San Francisco in 1991.Butler and Kois are in conversation with Glen Weldon, co-host of NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour podcast. The three of them will be joined for a staged reading of one chapter from the book, featuring: Alexandra Petri, humor writer for the Washington Post and author of A Field Guide to Awkward Silences; Mark Joseph Stern, a writer for Slate covering the law and LGBTQ issues; Jacob Brogan, host of the Slate podcast Working; and D.C. based stage actors Kimberly Gilbert and Michael Kevin Darnall.https://www.politics-prose.com/book/9781635571769Learn more about your ad choices.
