The largest seafood distributor on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and two of its managers have been sentenced on federal charges of mislabeling inexpensive imported seafood as local premium fish weeks after a restaurant and its co-owner were also sentenced. “This large-scale scheme to misbrand imported seafood as local Gulf Coast seafood hurt local fishermen and consumers,” said Todd Gee, the U.S. attorney for southern Mississippi. “These criminal convictions should put restaurants and wholesalers on notice that they must be honest with customers about what is actually being sold.” Sentencing took place in Gulfport for Quality Poultry and Seafood Inc. (QPS), sales manager Todd A. Rosetti, and business manager James W. Gunkel. QPS and the two managers pleaded guilty on August 27 to conspiring to mislabel seafood and commit wire fraud. QPS was sentenced to five years of probation and was ordered to pay $1 million in forfeitures and a $500,000 criminal fine. Prosecutors said the misbranding scheme began as early as 2002 and continued through November 2019. Rosetti received eight months in prison, followed by six months of home detention, one year of supervised release, and 100 hours of community service. Gunkel received two years of probation, one year of home detention, and 50 hours of community service. Mary Mahoney's Old French House and its co-owner/manager Anthony Charles Cvitanovich, pleaded guilty to similar charges May 30 and were sentenced November 18. Mahoney's was founded in Biloxi in 1962 in a building that dates to 1737, and it's a popular spot for tourists. The restaurant pleaded guilty to wire fraud and conspiracy to misbrand seafood. Mahoney's admitted that between December 2013 and November 2019, the company and its co-conspirators at QPS fraudulently sold about 58,750 pounds (26,649 kilograms) of frozen seafood imported from Africa, India, and South America as local premium species. The court ordered the restaurant and QPS to maintain at least five years of records describing the species, sources, and cost of seafood it acquires to sell to customers, and that they make the records available to any relevant federal, state, or local government agency. The poem “The Lowest Room” by Christina Rossetti explores what it means to be in the lower place, the spot where you look up and see all the things that you want to be and should be and instead find yourself, discontentedly, on the lower rung. This Friday, we are taking a look at a life of comparison, the standards we set for ourselves and others, and what Christianity reveals about being in the lowest room. How did the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood become so famous? Did Elizabeth Siddal really almost die in a bathtub when she modelled for John Everett Millais' Ophelia? And which Rosetti painting shocked the art establishment the most? Speaking to Elinor Evans, Suzanne Fagence Cooper answers your questions on the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood: a group of artists founded in 1848 who pushed the boundaries of artistic realism and courted scandal in Victorian Britain through their lifestyles and art. There are a few new words in this poem that I looked up. Halcyon sea - It means peaceful sea. Vair - This is a type of squirrel fur. Dias - A raised platform in a large room that people stand on to speak in front of an audience. A Birthday BY CHRISTINA ROSSETTI My heart is like a singing bird Whose nest is in a water'd shoot; My heart is like an apple-tree Whose boughs are bent with thickset fruit; My heart is like a rainbow shell That paddles in a halcyon sea; My heart is gladder than all these Because my love is come to me. Raise me a dais of silk and down; Hang it with vair and purple dyes; Carve it in doves and pomegranates, And peacocks with a hundred eyes; Work it in gold and silver grapes, In leaves and silver fleurs-de-lys; Because the birthday of my life Is come, my love is come to me.

This prevents company leadership from making necessary changes, and prevents people from feeling fulfilled, recognized, and included at work. At AllVoices, we want to change that by providing a completely safe, anonymous way for people to report issues directly to company leaders. This allows company leadership real transparency into what's happening in their companies—and the motivation to address issues quickly. Our goal is to help create safer, more inclusive companies.

-- By Christina Rossetti -- While most known for Christmas carols In the Bleak Midwinter and Love Came Down at Christmas, Christina Rossetti was quite a prolific 19th century English poet. In the Bleak Midwinter was written in 1871 but was only arranged by composer Gustav Holst 35 years later in 1906. Rossetti was born in London on December 5, 1830. She was first published in April 1850 at 19 years of age with her literary periodical The Germ. Her most extensive work, Goblin Market and Other Poems, was published in 1862. Rosetti suffered from Graves' disease late in life and developed breast cancer in 1893 before succumbing to breast cancer on December 29, 1894. She was laid to rest on New Years Day 1895 at Highgate Cemetery in North London where her grave can still be visited. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/patrick-fennell6/support
