We premiere the title track, ‘Miwonowi', a tribal-soaked house groove that lends inspiration from Chicago and his hometown of India. New Delhi-based Sanil Sudan aka FILM is the latest debutant on Hammer's Remmah imprint. His ‘Miwonowi' EP features three original tracks imbued with the restless & irresistible grooves of classic Boo Williams productions, overlaid with the same star-gazing cosmic energy that unites all Remmah releases. Complimenting the four original tracks is a remix from DART, of the Remmah extended family's Dublin branch, which zeroes in on the baseline and adds a whole extra layer of extra bounce to the ounce. We premiere ‘Miwonowi', a fusion of ancient and contemporary elements, combining the primal energy of tribal and indigenous with the power and grit of modern house and techno. Syncopated tribal grooves play off Detroit-licked chords and sweeping drones to devastating effect.

When you hear the name Boo Williams what comes to mind? Could it be the never-ending list of superstar players he's coached or the Elite Grassroots Basketball program he's built? For some, Boo Williams is a name of folklore. Many high school players & parents don't even think he's a real person. But he is a real person & He was motivated to build something from nothing… like a Phoenix rising out of the ashes. Boo thought it would be a neighbourhood thing, he never thought it would be this big. In this episode Coach Chris will allow Boo Williams to open up & tell his story in his own words. He will share how & why he started his program, give his first thoughts on Allen Iverson and why he was special. Boo also comes from the heart when he speaks to all players and parents about the state of the game today compared to what it used to be. Oh, one more thing… Boo tells us why he still has a vintage old-school flip phone, that's right and he has no plan to upgrade. This episode will captivate you and it's one you may find yourself listening to over again. An American Original… Boo Williams Follow Coach Chris on Instagram & Twitter. Check out our latest label releases + free downloads on our Bandcamp page. It's pretty early days for Milanese duo The Robinson, but they captured our attention very quickly with their brilliant, sprawling tracks. On a Body & Soul tip, their production effortlessly combines with the organic and the synthetic, with many a dazzling synth sound relaying beautiful melodies and atmospheric touches. Futureboogie Records saw their potential, snapping up their 'Nightmares' EP and lacing it with a remix by none other than the legend Ron Trent. This mix comprises 100% unreleased material from their studio, and features three tracks that will form an EP for our label in mid-2021. *How would you describe your sound?* Our sound is a mix between the underground Chicago House grooves and Italo House beats of the 90s. *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* The main inspiration for our music comes from our regular daily life, which is often accompanied by the melodies of the greats: Ron Trent, Glenn Underground, Boo Williams, Joe Claussel among others. *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* This mix is the story of a journey from the countryside to the city, a journey we often take when coming home from visiting our parents. Pablo Valentino isn't exaggerating when he says his sets span across genres. His reputation as a tastemaker precedes him, as does his notoriety for breaking sound barriers. The French producer, DJ and owner of the MCDE and FACES imprints has been behind the console for over two decades. Part of his appeal on the dance floor owes largely to his voracity for collecting records, an activity that has consumed most of his life. The distinct musical patterns he weaves as he spins tunes that vary from jazz, funk and hip-hop to disco, house and techno are distinguishable for the primary ingredient he seeks in music – soul. As Pablo gears up for his 3-city tour of India, which commences tonight in New Delhi, he put together Wild City's 157th mix. Pablo's entire genre-spanning legacy is culminated into this single 1-hour compilation, which gets off to an energetic start with The S.T.U.D Band's straight-up funk and jazz track 'Success'. True to his words, these elements leave their mark on the rest of the mix, even as disco, deep house and house take over, with tracks by artists like Boo Williams, Romart Rauch and DJ City. There's even a special treat for listeners in the form of an unreleased track by Danilo Plessow's Motor City Drum Ensemble. Whether deliberate or just a serendipitous accident, this compilation is a suitable sonic representation of these late September evenings, as a lingering summer gently metamorphoses into fall. Vocal samples, disco and nu jazz emerge the heroes of this mix, which lulls you into swaying and boogying on the dance floor before easing you out with Franck Gerard's ambient 'Smother Savior'. Hello Decisive Podcast Series Special music lovers,Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy the program today. Its May 8, 2017 and it gives me great pleasure to have here on the Decisive Podcast Series Special, Chicago South Side native Mr. Brian Harden who has releases that date back to the early 80`s on such influential labels like, D3 Elements, Moves n Grooves, Nitelife Collective, DanceMania, Relief and Bangin Traxx. I had a chance to get an exclusive interview with him to discuss his passion for music which dates back to a young age of listening to his mom`s disco and jazz records, how he grew playing music instinctively and taught himself how to make music without learning an instrument, also how he was able to obtain important influences & technics by master musicians such as Roy Davis Jr., Paul Hardcastle, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis and Glen Underground. You will be listening to a mix he drafted for us while we conduct the interview and in a matter of days you can enjoy the music in its entirety with the interview. So I hope you will find some valuable and interesting conversation that keeps Brian relevant to this day. Plus we have a special treat for you. Axe On Wax has been in operation for two years. Throughout that time they have been responsible for releases from the likes of Boo Williams, Monosoul, Andres, Chaos In The Cbd and many more. With a penchant towards the more deeply rooted elements of house music they have captivated the ears of dancefloors and experienced music heads with each release. We caught up with the label to talk music, upcoming life and more.
There are very few artists who can be said to have seen the lifespan of house music in its entirety. Born in Chicago, 1967, Boo Williams is arguably one of the most influential figures in club music: past, present and future. Alongside the likes of Glenn Underground he has become one of the definitive figures of the Chicago sound and has released records on legendary labels such as Relief Records, Moods & Grooves, Rush Hour and far too many others to name. This summer he will play at Odyssia Festival in Greece. We are honoured to be able to welcome him on to the site as part of our Ransom Note Mix series.

Nelson’s Commitment to music comes from early in his childhood years , when he began playing guitar and percussion while involved with various rock , punk, funk, and jazz bands. Much of his deep knowledge of music comes from years of working at local record stores Such as Spec’s , Uncle Sams Music Cafe , and Virgin Megastore. It has all carried over to the present , as he is now working on his own exclusive DJ-tracks and using Traktor Scratch with over 4,000 records on file . All this while being the creator and event coordinator for the highly successful Miami Meets Detroit WMC BBQ , held annually during the Miami Winter Music Conference (1999-2005), showcasing artists such as Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Stryke, Phoenecia (aka Soul Oddity) , Sean Deason , Terrence Parker, DJ Minx, Alton Miller, The Beatdown Sounds Crew, DJ T-1000 , Matthew Dear, DJ Rolando “The Aztec Mystic”, Murk (Oscar G & Ralph Falcon), and Magda. “Pornograph Events”, Nelson’s vision for Miami’s local scene went a step further, by showcasing artists such as: Derrick May, Stacey Pullen, Bryan Zentz, DJ Rolando, Kevin Saunderson and Lee Burridge outside of the “WMC” week. In a Market driven by TOP 40, Hip Hop, and Mash Ups, Pornograph Events, was one of THE FIRST and ONLY outlets for UNDERGROUND DANCE MUSIC in South Florida! Showcasing DJs & LIVE PA’s (A FIRST FOR A PROMOTER TO BOOK “Techno” LIVE PA’s IN A “MAINSTREAM Venue – DREAM NIGHTCLUB” outside of the WMC week-For A WEEKLY PARTY), such as: MARC ANTONA (LIVE), SHONKY, JONAS BERING (LIVE), MAZI, STEWART WALKER (LIVE), TOUANE (LIVE), KEVIN SAUNDERSON and JOHN ACQUAVIVA. Nelson’s latest partnership brings him together with a bright young prducer from Los Angeles, CA. Los Angeles based Luis Rosario and Miami based Nelson Fernandez (DJ Nova), have come together to form Ds and Cs. A derivative from their heritage, Dominicans and Cubans. Both shared similar influences as Detroit Techno bridged the gap between their coasts. Both share over a decade of DJ experience crossing dance venues coast to coast. As solo production artists, they continue to push their growing sound, Ds and Cs music production however, is a mix of old school and nu school creating a unique but modern day sound. With obvious ties to Detroit, their sound digs into those influences and creates a new feel. Keep your eye on this young DJ/Producer as he propells Miami to the cutting edge of electronic music!!
Biography:"The first time I ever put two records together I was 11. The first time I ever played at a club -- 18. And the first place I had a full-blown residency was at the Powerhouse with Ron Carroll, DJ Rush and myself, in… well, the poster on the wall over there says "1990". - Gene Farris | 5 Magazine Since then, Gene, at 6' 7", has become one of the most accomplished, if not one of the "biggest", DJ/Producers in House Music, releasing some of dance music's hottest anthems on his label, Farris Wheel Recordings with The Copa Cabana (sold 25,000 units), The Spirit (with DJ Sneak remixes) as well as Defected's 2001 classic, Sanctified Love, CR2's, The Big Doopie Rmx's and Cajual with Summer Affair. Depending on the continent, talent or party you find Gene performing, you can count on him setting the tone with his distinctive "funky summer Chicago hot kinda vibe"; simply put, "funky, dirty, sexy, grooving beats". Chicago born and raised, Gene was inspired by the likes of Larry Heard, Ron Hardy, Lil Louis, Derrick May, Mark Farina, Prince and Roy Ayers. Combined with his love for disco, Gene developed his style of seamless mixes blending funk, disco and soul with 80s pop. Gene joined forces with Cajmere (aka Green Velvet | Relief Records); the partnership proved to be the perfect fit. The duo produced smash club killers like The Music Box, Edge Of The Looking Glass, Red Line, The Inside and Le Mirage. Currently, the duo is in the studio working on several productions to be released later this year. Farris started his own label - Farris Wheel Recordings, which has continued to be one of the leaders in underground house music. The Farris Wheel Family releases remixes and full productions from some of the worlds most prolific and respected dance music producers for over a decade, such as J.T. Donaldson, Chuck Love, 1200 Warriors, Stacey Pullen, Glenn Underground, Greenskeepers, Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Boo Williams, DJ Sneak, Brett Johnson, Miguel Migs and Jay-J. With over 100 productions, 6 albums and performances in over 30 countries, Gene still finds time to share his passion for music with kids in China. Suggested by a friend, Gene's produced a series of videos about how to get youth inspired, and in to, electronic music and Dj-ing. 01. How did you approached to the dj profession? I started djing very young and was introduced to me by some local friends.. 02. Tell us of your first time playing in a in club. The first time I played a club I was extremly nervous, I still remember my sweaty hands it was at the PowerHouse in Chicago a very popular club back in the day.. I pulled it out was a great night a lot of oldschool djs began to give me props after that party.. 03. What device do you prefer to use in your live and studio set up? I use logic and Reasons in the studio with a few other key toys;) 04. What you think about digital music? I think it fine, music has to move forward, I mean were would we be if we never moved from 8 track or reel to reel? Everything must progress or it stops moving.. 05. What are your favorite records label? I have a few Cajual, Farris Wheel, Defected, Soma, Sampled, Guesthouse & Large.. 06. What lead you to found Farris Wheel Recordings? I started Farris Wheel In 1998 originally just for another outlet to put out my music and it just grew into a life of it's own, it's kinda it's own living thing now when I make music for my label I have to make sure it fits the "Farris Wheel" sound.. 07. In your opinion how would electronic music change in the next 10 years? Everything goes full circle I think in ten yrs it will be simular to what u hear now but it will be much much cleaner.. 08. What you love and what you hate in dj's life? I love the Music, the Parties, the attention, the planes, the hotels, the food, the cheddar, I Hate the Haters lol.. 09. What would you suggest to a beginner dj? Stay consistent and practice your favorite sets daily until u know your strengths and weakness then u can work on making yourself better all the way around and stay current! And constantly make new ideas push the boundary! 10. Can you tell us something about your future works? Currently working on the Cajual 20 yr Anniversary Mix CD just dropped "The White Label Ep" with Cajmere it's #1 on traxsource he and I have a lot of stuff out together at the moment and i will be touring for the mix cd in 2012..:)
On a boat as a part of a summer music festival called SunceBeat put together by the people behind Southport Weekender is a heck of a place to debut my house music sets. Especially as the opener on a boatride that included two Chicago house music legends Anthony Nicholson (http://www.5chicago.com/features/june2011/anthony-nicholson/) and Boo Williams (http://www.touchofsoul.fr/artist.php?id_mix=54&id_dj=31). During introductions, I told them that I was "the freshman around these parts, so I'm gonna go 'head and start." Anthony said, "Do you my brother." {} = mental notes {I was} - Nervous Track (another word for Introduction and/or Statement of Purpose} - Preamble {putting that last thought into words} - Give A Little Love {it was kinda cloudy at this point + a Chaka's vocal from Clouds gave the groovers a familiar voice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xADrCKYUEcc} - In Da Clouds {but then after a few nautical miles, it got real pretty and blue sky like} - Paradise {now a groove with some nice organ going on, headspace to move, from da clouds to da club, telepathic thanks to Shelter NYC} - At the Club {in the middle of the sea atmosphere so nice, letting it breathe so they can soak it all in, strings feel like the breeze felt} - Sleazy E {hip hop that flows in me says hello, shout out to some my favorites, Dilla, Q-Tip, MJ... - Move http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxFV3udkjUk&feature=related = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhumw8f_SB4&feature=fvwrel = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQY-uzzm7GA {ok, y'all had that space to groove while taking in the sights. now, sparking Blaze, I'm talking to you party people} - My Beat {nod to GSH, T-Connection, and some benevolent advice} - Do What You Want To Do {to my brother Dewey who loves the source of this bassline and horn sample, I knew it was Friday, but when those vocals escalate, felt like Sunday - also shout out to RubNTug for their versions http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JsRFLFgno0&feature=artist} - Sunday Shoutin' Special Shout out to my brothers Stormin Norman and DJ Cosi of Sundae Sermon family in Harlem, NYC too! http://www.sundaesermon.com/ {cornerstone POV} - Respect Yourself {right about now, after feeling good about setting a nice tone for the gents from Chicago, I'm feeling like} - It's All Good {new friends and old pals, family, loves, musical gods & goddesses} - Inspiration Thanks to http://www.suncebeat.com/#/http://www.suncebeat.com/?page_id=860 + http://www.suncebeat.com/ + http://www.southportweekender.co.uk/ --- Beach Stage set here: http://djqoolmarvsounds.podomatic.com/entry/2011-08-04T15_11_50-07_00
[W]e've got a special guest mix to help ring in the New Year by Chicago-based DJ Alex Callejo, formerly of Housejunkyz. I first connected with Alex on his last trip to Manila in 2005, when he performed at the party I was co-hosting at M Cafe called MyHOUSE (with Mark Cali-Jentes and owner Martin Wisniewski). Growing up in the fertile Chicago scene, Alex's been DJing since he was a little kid. He's played at house meccas such as the Green Dolphin, Zentra, Zippos, and Beviamo's to name a few, and has performed with Chicago house icons like the 3 Degrees Global boys, Gene Hunt, Luey, and Boo Williams. Alex and I got back in touch recently and he's recorded a gorgeous mix for musicandwineradio.com called "Simply Raw" that we're very proud to feature on this New Year's week to lift your spirits and start 2011 on a right note. Also, catch Alex's guest mix on our radio show on 106.7 Dream FM in Manila (97.3 FM in Boracay) this coming Saturday night from 9pm to midnight. So sit back, push play, and enjoy the ride. Cheers Alex! Subscribe for free with iTunes to receive this and future episodes of our podcast directly into your iPod, iPhone, or computer.
