Kantera are a very successful Maltese Band with great results in the Muzika Muzika competition which celebrates the Maltese Song. The song Kantera competed with in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is called "Lalaratatakeke lalaratakabum " and succsessfully qualified from Semi Final 2 to the Grand Final of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 where at the end of the Voting Sequence ended up at Number 3. Krista Sujak (Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025) with JP The second artist from the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 we feature on Radio International this week is Krista Sujak who is also a newcomer to the contest. Krista competed with the song entitled "Unheard" and qualified from Semi Final 2 to the Grand Final. Eurovision 2025 Song Preview - Germany: In view of the upcoming national final in Germany on 01 Mar 2025, Radio International will be introducing the competing songs on the show this week. Germany is part of the Big Five countries at the Eurovision Song Contest and with that directly qualified for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest on 17 May 2025. Nine acts are battling it out for the ticket to Basel to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. Let's get to know the songs on the show this week. Melodifestivalen 2025: Sweden's national final is called Melodifestivalen and is the biggest one in the world of the Eurovision Song Contest. It is the 65th edition and is produced by Swedish broadcaster SVT. 30 entries out of 2794 submitted songs made it to the shows. The 30 entries will take part in the competition across five heats. Each heat consists of six songs, with the top two songs directly qualifying for the final. Unlike in the previous edition, only the third-placing song will proceed to a final qualification round at the end of the fifth heat, which will now feature five songs instead of ten. The top two songs in the final qualification will then progress to the final, which will comprise 12 songs. The winner of the final will be determined by the usual 50/50 combination of votes from the public and an international jury. Victoria Nicole from Portugal reached second place at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song "Esperança" receiving 213 points. The second young artist Alain chatted with is Simone Grande who represented Italy this year with the song "Pigiama Party" coming 9th on the Grand Final Scoreboard. The Home Composed Song Contest 2024: The annual music competition for non-professional musicians takes place again and is already in full swing. The public and jury already cast their votes as well. "If love was a crime" achieved Bulgaria's best-ever result at the contest being Number 4 which was bettered a year later by Kristian Kostov as he came second. In 2015, Poli was the Host of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest which was held in Sofia, Bulgaria and as a musician she also released a number of songs and has been involved in a few projects. On 03 Feb 2024 saw the first of five heats taking place and with that starting the Melodifestivalen 2024 Roadshow. Maria Sur also won a place in the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 2024 after winning the Heat 2 voting and will perform her song "When you are gone" in Stockholm. The Busker won and represented Malta at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool. Paul Giordimaina together with Georgina represented Malta at Eurovision in 1991 with the song "Could it be" coming 6th. Mike Spiteri represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 1995 with the song "Keep me in mind" coming 10th. Then Ludwig Galea together with Julie performed "On again ... Off again" at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 coming 12th and finally Moira Stafrace with her husband Chris represented Malta at Eurovision 1994 coming 5th with the song "More than love". Chris sadly passed away in Feb 2022. Then in 1985 as part of a group when Ireen Sheer, Margo, Frank Olivier, Chris & Malcolm Roberts, Diane Solomon sang "Children, Kinder, Enfants" coming 13th. Ireen, of British decent, also represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 1978 with the song "Feuer" ranking 6th. Ireen has a large number of hits in the German Music Market from the 70s onwards and has a huge fanbase in Germany. Despite of this she recently retired from the music business. Radio International's JP with Marc and Salman had the pleasure of an in-depth interview with Ireen Sheer which was not yet broadcast on Radio International. Toto Cutugno (Eurovision Winner 1990, Italy and Eurovision Host 1990) Tribute to Toto Cutugno (Eurovision Winner 1990, Italy): The Eurovision World received sad news on 22 Aug 2023 of the passing away of Eurovision Winner 1991 - Toto Cutugno who won the Eurovision Song Contest 1990 for Italy with "Insieme". The year after in 1991 together with the Eurovision Winner of 1964 Gigliola Cinquetto, Toto hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in a most memorable way. He was a singer and songwriter and wrote many songs for other artists but also performed classics at the Italian San Remo Song Festival. One more memorable entry there was "L'Italiano" that came 5th in the 1983 edition of San Remo. Now Toto has passed away at the age of 80 after a long illness in hospital. Rest in Peace Toto. Radio International will broadcast a special tribute to the singer to once again remember his life and music. Loreen with JP after winning Heat 4 of Melodifestivalen 2023 Eurovision Winner 2012 - Loreen advanced directly to the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen with the song "Tatoo". Will she do a Johnny Logan - winning the Eurovision Song Contest twice? The other act advancing was Smash into Pieces with the song "Six Feet Under". Malta's History at the Eurovision Song Contest: In 2022, Malta celebrated, as part of their National Final 50 years being part of the Eurovision Family. Many of the previous Maltese entrants returned to the stage in Malta's Fairs and Convention Centre to perform their Maltese Eurovision entries once more. Malta has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 34 times since its debut in 1971 and has yet to win the contest. It is the only non-winning country to have achieved four top three results. JP will play some of the highlights of Malta's Eurovision entries and give more information in this special hour and especially in view of the upcoming 2023 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest on 09 and 11 February 2023 when Glen Vella (Malta 2011) and Amber (Malta 2015) will be hosting the Semi Final and the Grand Final.
