Margo is joined by transformational coach, team support facilitator, and organizational specialist Lacy Young for an honest and heart-expanding conversation about healing, creativity, and stepping into your zone of genius. For over 15 years, Lacy has guided women through radical self-discovery, creating spaces where they can embrace deep healing, foundational belief work, and personal autonomy. She blends soul-level healing with practical business wisdom, helping high-performers and founders step into their most powerful and joyful work. But before she could hold space for others, Lacy had to embark on her own healing journey—one that led her to confront deep-rooted suffering, redefine what it means to be whole, and ultimately transform her approach to both life and work.   Margo and Lacy discuss: Lacy's personal healing journey—how she went from being in deep pain to holding space for others, and what she learned about the power of radical permission The necessity of filling your own cup first and why prioritizing self-healing isn't selfish but essential The creative awakening happening now—how art, expression, and creative play are unlocking something crucial in our collective healing and remembering Finding and tending to the roots of suffering—why traditional self-improvement often focuses on symptoms, and how Lacy helps people go deeper The shift in her work toward founders and high-performing teams—why she's drawn to supporting leaders in creating aligned, sustainable success Why women supporting women is more important than ever—the power of collective healing and what it looks like in action How to right-size “Big Things”—shifting overwhelming life challenges into manageable, joyful transformations Connect with Lacy: https://shiftwithlacy.com/ http://www.instagram.com/lacyannyoung https://insighttimer.com/ShiftWithLacy   Connect with Margo: www.windowsillchats.com www.instagram.com/windowsillchats www.patreon.com/inthewindowsill https://www.yourtantaustudio.com/thefoundry

Today's guest is Jeremy Frisch.  Jeremy is the founder and performance director of Achieve Performance Training in Clinton, Mass.  He has been a multi-time guest on the show on the topics of youth and long-term physical development, game-play, and the integration of all these things into a greater training philosophy.  Jeremy is one of my biggest influences in how I see and connect the child to scholastic to adult continuum of sport development and performance. As much as coaching is prescriptive on the level of exercises and progressions, it is even more intuitive in nature.  So often we seek the exact exercises, drills, and cues that will help athletes to achieve more specific strength or a better technique.  These are helpful in key situations for athletes, but we must also build and understand a bigger picture (by coaching in many different sport situations and developmental stages), which helps us break into more expansive ways of seeing the picture of athleticism. On today's show, Jeremy gets into how his work from the spectrum of youth training, up to adult fitness has improved his general ability to coach and implement creative solutions for athletes.  He'll cover important developmental steps in early childhood that lay a foundation for improved abilities later on, and then get into games, field size and game speed elements of sport.  Finally, we'll finish off the show with a chat on concepts of creative and engaging training, as well as a take on how the traditional strength and conditioning type mentality may serve some athletes well, where others may find more confidence in their game and sport skill abilities. Timestamps and Main Points 5:33 – How Jeremy runs his adult fitness classes in comparison to his youth and scholastic training sessions – How Jeremy views game-speed, in young athletes, and as they move through maturity 28:11 – How a child's strategy and disposition based on formative years leads to the type of athlete they become later on (i.e. offensive, defensive, hustle/grinder type) 37:42 – How to manipulate field sizes and playing spaces in sport development 47:44 – Using creativity to make training more engaging for the athlete, and how to keep the game-like nature of movement in training 53:22 – Jeremy's thoughts on the traditional strength and conditioning mentality working better for some athletes vs. others 1:05:37 – Aerial ability and training, and how it relates to general athleticism Jeremy Frisch Quotes “We replaced box jumps for adults, with step-up jumps” “That's what I tell younger coaches who walk through our doors, you might not love it, but realize that the group you are working with is going to make you a better coach down the line” “When a baby is born, you have an opportunity to put a baby in an environment to be a competent mover… and that's floor time, belly time” “The floor is the child's neurological workshop… when you put the baby on the floor, or in a playpen and you just leave them alone, they are going to figure out how to lift their head, push off the ground, reach and move” “The great thing about a crash mat is that it (gives safety) so now kids are going to try a million different ways to land” “If you set up those early years in life for them to become a competent mover, then you have a great foundation to build on later on” “Let's say you get some kids and put them in basketball, and they are OK, but you put them in soccer in that wide open space,

I still love the practice of choosing a theme word for the year, to help guide new year intentions and goals. It can be a wonderful filter for what feels intuitively right to do and create, whether in place of or along with more structured planning and goal setting. In this episode I share about my intentions for my 2022 word PLAY, how it turned out in practice, why I'm excited about my new word for 2023, and some tips for choosing your own word of the year. Did you pick a word for 2023, or previous years? What's been your experience with it? Tag me on Instagram @rebecca_hass (or send me an email), and we can share ideas! ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

It's been 7 months since our last drop and four years since I began the podcast. So before season 5 kicks off, I wanted to explain the changes to the type of guests we will interview and the outcomes we are hoping to effect. Back in July last year, I paused the podcast, and during this hiatus, I worked with creative elder, coach, mentor, and award-winning ex-ad guy, Paul ‘Nobby' Davies on my underlying mission and vision for the Impossible Network. During one of my Creative Coaching calls, I recounted how a previous pod guest Jeremy Hymans in his book New Power, co-authored with Henry Timms, stated that the event series TED had cornered ideas worth spreading. But what we need in the world are people focused on the problems that need solving. Now, if there is one thing I have learned over the years is that when all great problems were solved, serendipity played a part. This got me thinking, let's make the podcast a genuine serendipity experiment. So I started with this question. If we have all these problems that need solving, instead of think tanks publishing papers on possible solutions, surely we should have Action Engines doing real work to solve the problem? And could the Impossible Network Podcast play its part and be a catalyst for creating Action Engines to accelerate problem-solving and progress? Why not try?So here's what we'll do. We will interview three types of people - what we are calling The Difference Makers - Those on the ground change agents working to make an impact on a particular social problem The Domain Experts - respected people of authority with specialist knowledge or skills whose ideas could have value in finding solutions to problems. The Storytellers - creative folk, those able to shape or change attitudes and behavior through the compelling or emotive stories they tell, committed to improving the world in which we live. Then every two to three months, we will create Action Engine events where we will challenge these guests to collide with each other, those with different perspectives, skills, and experiences in what we are calling Random Collision interviews and participate in structured design thinking workshops where we will explore alternative ways to solve the problems they care about. For example, educational innovation, criminal justice reform, mental health, decarbonization, transportation, electrification, food insecurity, homelessness, artificial intelligence risks, or building sustainable cities. And finally, we will build an Action Engine community and database. A place to easily discover and connect with change-makers, domain experts, and storytellers, filterable by experience, skills, and areas of focus. It might sound like a crazy experiment, but I think it's going to be a blast. Ok. Let's get started. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
