Do you hear that sound? Can you feel it? The cool ocean breeze in your hair, the salt on your tongue. It's the smooth crash of the Last Wave on KVGM with your host, Hammock, bringing you thirty minutes of the best video game jams(z) from all your favorite composers and consoles, each and every week from our beachside studio on sunny Aqua City Island. Sit back, relax, and get ready to catch...the Last Wave. Someone once asked me, "Hey Hammock, what's makes a jam a smooth jam?" and I had to think about it for a minute. I had to consider all the possibilities. Because it's true...a jam can be a jam but still not be a smooth jam. I think it's the right balance of a good beat, some kind of brass instrument, the guitar shouldn't be overwhelming, and last but not be least, you should not feel anxious listening to it. Plenty of video game music out there makes me feel anxious but when you pop in a smooth jam, all that anxiety melts away and you're left with something so special...it's worth of the Last Wave. We go over Canaan which is an anime-style VN, strange for this game and Heartbeat of Spring, which is Suzune's story, which brings this season of VNBC to a close. Good night, all!
We checked the Kana, the pun works. Shibuya Scramble is surprisingly not over even though it is because we also have 3 final stories, amazingly, after the fact. Alphard may be defeated... for now... and we may have like 7 protagonists... so far... but is Shibuya really safe? Can we walk through Dogenzaka without a care in the world? Want to grab some ice cream at Center Gai with no worries? I don't remember a fourth place from the game, sorry. Let's wrap up the bomb and the standoff!
Things heat up in the scramble as more stories end and more intrigue happens. I jumped randomly through this episode to write this description and happened upon Jim saying "Osawa is the worst dad ever" so that plot thread doesn't go anywhere sorry. That's a joke, maybe he finds redemption? Does Minorikawa stop being best player character? No to both of these.
Maria needs the antiviral, Shibuya is close to a state of lockdown, the Ua virus might get out, and we need to finish the Four Star Gossip General SOON! How can we do all this? Hell if I know. I got sick before recording and had to opt out early. Can Visual Novel Book Club survive without slowbeef?! Well, I mean the episode's here, so yeah.
I don't want to spoil thing but maybe, just maybe, Osawa gets a banana from Kajiwara. I feel pretty good about avoiding the obvious joke, but pretty bad about pointing out that I did. Look, whatever. It's Visual Novel Book Club!
Thanksgiving? We're all thankful for a new episode of Visual Novel Book Club Season 8 - 428 Shibuya Scramble! In this episode: TAKE BANANA. In other words, Kajiwara saves the Osawa story from being absolutely terrible. Again.
This issue is fraught with excitement as Discord collapses under the weight of Shibuya Scramble and lots of folks disconnect and reconnect and slowbeef is on a business trip. Can Visual Novel Book Club survive its greatest challenge yet!!! No, pullahoko died of dysentery.
We decided to finally give Devious Vacuum a break and to switch things up, we all took notes on individual characters! Jim got Achi, Turbo got Kano, Oren got the short straw and got Osawa, and slowbeef got Minorikawa... which he was really happy about. Pulla called Tama who we all expected, though. Visual Novels... do they need book clubs? We find out today!
It's time for the 12:00 block. And everyone may be coming around to slowbeef's thinking on their favorite character choice.
Episode 2 is at ya, as the whole cast opens up to the player but we all just gush about Tama. (“I still like Minorikawa” - slowbeef)

VNBC has returned! Season 8! 428 Shibuya Scramble! Deadly viruses! Deadly kidnappers! Deadly gangsters! Deadlines...! Uh... well, you'll find out in this 24-like Japanese Visual Novel. Devious Vacuum, Jim, slowbeef (that's me!), pullahoko, TurboC and orenronen join forces to tackle intertwined time lines! Let's unscramble this scramble, baby!
After many months off we return with one of the longest games we’ve covered, and boy are our arms tired. What does it mean when a game has all the stories in it? Does live action convey anything special to narrative past charm at some hokey acting? Can glossary text single-handedly save a game? All this and more as we spiral out from diet drink scams to world-ending virus conspiracies as we scramble through the twisting paths of this massive, complicated game! This Month's Game!428: Shibuya ScrambleNext Month's Game!UnavowedYou can support Jen and Six on the Scanline Media Patreon, and support Em and the network on the Abnormal Mapping Patreon. Arnaldo and Paul are on deck today talking about what video games they've been playing, but not before talking about the Toronto Raptors winning the NBA title, followed by some Canadian beat poetry by Arnaldo, because this is a video game show, right? It doesn't take long to get back on track with Paper Mario on the Gamecube (14:00), followed by Persona Q2 (33:00). Paul then mangles the pronounciation of Lapis X Labyrinth, but barely redeems himself before talking about 428 Shibuya Scramble (50:30). The guys then move on to E3 and what they think of games like The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Cyberpunk 2077 and the Final Fantasy VII remake (1:16:00) and finish up the show talking about the era of mini videogame consoles with the announcement of the TurboGrafx-16 Mini (1:52:00).
MOMENT! Hört uns an! Wir besprechen diesmal eine Visual Novel. STOOOPPP, nicht weglaufen! Es ist nicht irgendeine Visual-Novel, sondern „das japanische 24“! Eines von kaum mehr als 20 Spielen, die jemals die Höchstwertung vom japanischen Hausmagazin Famitsu erhalten haben. It's "The Big Football Game Weekend" in Atlanta, so we pre-game with a live stream of NFL Blitz 2000 for Nintendo 64. Thanks to all who tuned in. A good show this week and we kick-off with a trivia game. Michael and Cesar try to remember which PS3 titles had the original Spider-Man font boxart, and which ones got the more recent re-branding. Play along with us, and see how many you can get right. In news, February's Games with Gold and PlayStation Plus have been unveiled, Dr. Mario is headed to phones, Metro makes an Exodus to the Epic Games Store while PUBG attempts to broaden its player base, and Sony may have patented a much requested PS5 feature. Cesar simulates walking through Virgina, and tries to escape the nightmare in Resident Evil 2 REmake. Michael is back and catching us up on the games he has put some time into. He solves the case of 428 Shibuya Scramble, flies through the skies in the Anthem beta, and shares his first impressions of Kingdom Hearts 3. It's the Michael and Richard show this week, and we've got a good one to start the year off right. The guys open with a couple of New Year's Resolutions for 2019. In Games Played, they escape the zombie horde in Left 4 Dead on Xbox One through backward compatibility. Richard stays on the Valve train by experiencing the original Half-Life on PC. Michael is reconstructing game endings in both The Stanley Parable and 428: Shibuya Scramble, and enabling various game assists in Celeste for Xbox One. In news, Konami may be ready to celebrate their back catalog, Atlus is teasing new Persona 5 related projects, and the studio behind Celeste has cancelled their follow-up project. January's Xbox Games with Gold and PlayStation Plus titles have been announced, and we throw the month's new Xbox GamePass games into the list. We finish the show with a listener submitted review of Call of Cthulhu, thank you to Charles for the awesome write up! We've upped our production values thanks to some new equipment and the talented artists at freesound.org. I oktober månads första avsnitt av Speccat samlas Elisabeth, Tommy och Niklas för att avhandla veckan som gått. Vi tar tempen på Assassin’s Creed och Red Dead Redemption, spekulerar om den läckta Harry Potter-trailern, skrockar åt dispyten mellan Andrzej Sapkowski och CD Projekt Red, samt firar att Sony gett sig in i crossplay-leken. Därefter går vi igenom spelen vi spelat. Elisabeth har spolat tillbaka tiden i The Gardens Between, drivit café i Little Dragon’s Café och buggat ur totalt i We Happy Few. Tommy levererar ett första intryck av 428: Shibuya Scramble, och Niklas har stoppat ondskan i urban fantasy-äventyret Unavowed. Mycket nöje och trevlig helg! Spel som avhandlas: Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Harry Potter, The Witcher, The Gardens Between, Unavowed, 428: Shibuya Scramble, Little Dragons Café, We Happy Few, Shadow of the Tomb Raider
