Although we didn't intentionally mean to take a week off, things fell in a way that forced us to, but at least it was only one week. At this time, Sony has made a few announcements and moves that may make for an interesting 2025 and probably beyond. Sean and Marc have quite a bit to talk about from the last few weeks.Sony has sent a letter of intent to Kadokawa Corporation for possible acquisition. If the acquisition actually happens, Sony would become the majority owner of the company and, by extension, a majority owner of From Software, Spike Chunsoft, Acquire on the video game side, several anime, manga, and light novel production houses, and a whole bunch of other stuff as well. Will this actually happen? Will From Software become the next PlayStation Studio? Or is this more of a Bungie situation? There are also reports via Bloomberg about Sony developing their own native handheld that could potentially play PS5 games. Effectively countering Microsoft's Phil Spencer announcement from the week before, but also equaling the context that its "years away." Will we actually see this handheld? What makes it different than having a separate lower res SKU like Xbox Series S? And will it play PS6 games? Und weil Handhelds seit dem ungebrochenen Erfolg der Nintendo Switch nach wie vor in aller Munde sind, hätten Xbox und Sony auch gerne ein kleines Stück vom Kuchen. Beide arbeiten wohl an mobilen Geräten wie es heißt. Darüber hinaus arbeitet Sony kräftig daran die Kadokawa Corporation zu kaufen. Tencent haut im übrigen auch wieder einen raus und hat die Marke Horizon von Guerilla Games einfach richtig kackendreist kopiert. Das ist eigentlich zu frech um wahr zu sein, ist aber wahr. Die Kommentare unter dem Video sind eigentlich das Beste daran! The industry was recently set alight by a pair of articles from newswire Reuters indicating that Sony is interested in buying Japanese media conglomerate Kadokawa Corporation, and indeed, Kadokawa itself has since confirmed the reporting. Such a move has massive implications for Sony's increasing dominance in the anime and manga spaces, and it's likely this attempt at M&A is squarely focused on that first and foremost. But acquiring Kadokawa could be a huge boon for the PlayStation brand, too, considering it owns the likes of Spike Chunsoft and Acquire, and perhaps most importantly a controlling share in FromSoftware, too, the prolific studio behind Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Armored Core, Sekiro, King's Field, and more. Should Sony nab Kadokawa, does that mean FromSoft would join PlayStation Studios as a proper first party team? Parecía que iba a ser una semana tranquila y bueno... casi, más o menos. Antes de hablar sobre las nominaciones de la gala de los The Game Awards de este año y de debatir sobre alguna de ellas, tocaba hablar del rumor grande la pasada semana. Parece que Sony va a acabar el año comprando a un conglomerado tan titánico como es Kadokawa Corporation, quien es dueña de estudios como Acquire, Spike Chunsoft y probablemente el nombre más atractivo: From Software. No entendemos tanto de monopolio de anime y demás, pero es básicamente acabar la partida del Monopoly con todos los hoteles a nivel máximo. Lo que nos importa, los jueguitos ¿Qué va a pasar con Dark Souls, con Sekiro o Elden Ring? Porque preocupa bastante que las próximas entregas o incluso proyectos a futuros de la casa de Hidetaka Miyazaki olviden el mundo del PC e incluso de Xbox o Nintendo, estando tan próximo lo que todos conocemos. What happens when the AI replaces your eye? This mystery adventure game was both developed and published by Spike Chunsoft, who are probably best known for their contributions to the Pokémon and Dragon Quest franchises. This game is decidedly unlike those others, however, and the jury is out on how our hosts would classify this game's genre. Living somewhere between an old school point and click game like Myst and a more modern visual novel game like Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, this game is unlike most games that our hosts tend to play. We suppose that's both the promise and the curse of letting the Xbox Game Pass "Surprise Me" button pick out the games for review.
