Plus marginal qu'un Kojima, plus barré qu'un Ueda, Suda51 (avec son studio Grasshopper) accumule les productions et créations un peu bancales, techniquement à la traîne, mais qui se distinguent par un ton décalé, surréaliste, et des propositions de game design parfois radicales. Néanmoins, depuis une dizaine d'années, les jeux de Suda n'alimentent plus trop la ferveur de ses fans. Les retrouvailles étaient donc attendues. No More Heroes constitue une sorte de cocon pour le créateur : l'introspectif Travis Strikes Again a marqué son retour à la réalisation, et No More Heroes III était censé transformer l'essai.
