Dr. Friedman shares insights from his book,  Food Sanity,  including his "common science meets common sense" approach to healthy eating in an unhealthy nation.Has all the contradiction on diet and nutrition left you feeling frustrated and confused? Should we follow a Paleo diet and eat like a caveman or go with a plant-based diet and eat like a gorilla? Should we starve ourselves on the latest intermittent fasting diet, or go on a ketogenic diet and eat a lot of fats and low carbs? What about grains? Are they good for us, or a leading cause of disease? Do eggs cause high cholesterol or lower it? All this confusion is enough to make your head spin! It's the reason why Dr. David Friedman wrote his #1 National Bestselling book, Food Sanity: How to Eat in a World of Fads and Fiction. For two decades as a syndicated television health expert and radio host, he's interviewed hundreds of scientists, doctors, and best-selling authors hoping to share information to help his audience reach their optimal health. Unfortunately, each guest would contradict the previous expert, creating more confusion than clarity. While most health experts seem to disagree, there is one thing they all agree on, food has the power to heal the body or make it sick. The key is figuring out what should be at the end of our fork.In this episode, Dr. Friedman shares a common science meets common sense approach that puts an end to many of today's food myths including: You don't need to drink cow's milk for strong bones. In fact, research shows it causes brittle bones! Beef doesn't give us the protein humans require. Fish do not contain toxic levels of mercury and can be eaten every day! Eggs don't cause high cholesterol, in fact, they lower it! Cavemen were mostly vegetarians and forensic evidence proves it! Grains (with gluten) reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, lowers blood sugar and aids in weight loss! Counting calories makes you gain weight. Salt (the right kind) isn't bad for you. In fact, it reduces heart disease, lowers blood pressure and aids in weight loss. Some vitamin supplements are made from toxic ingredients also used to make gasoline, nail polish remover, laundry detergent and ammonia. This segment comes with a WARNING: Be prepared for some major “Aha” moments!

Enchanted Ears Podcast: Anything & Everything Disney

Welcome to The Enchanted Ears Podcast, your favorite place for the latest in Disney news and usually other Disney-related things...but this week my friends, it's all new is good news! (I think that might be our new favorite saying!)   After being closed for over a year, Disneyland is in the process of reopening. Those who had a one-day ticket can start making their reservations today, April 12th! Later this week, ticket sales will then open up to California residents! We also go over ticket prices and rides that won't be opening.   Also over in Cali, the Avengers campus is set to open June 4th. It will be complete with amazing experiences and rides that are sure to blow our minds, especially after staring at the same wall in our house for over a year.   Runner, Ironman athlete, and all-around baller Don Muchow completed his run from coast to coast this past week. Of course, when Disney found out he went included Land and World in his path, they greeted him with fanfare, merch, and a whole lotta Disney magic!   Disney World announced that they are no longer requiring masks to be worn for photos, a topic that sounds both great and a little scary considering it's likely to complicate guest-management.   In not-so-shocking-news, Mears announced their connection service from the airport to Disney World, cue the choir singing "Hallelujah."   Creations Shop will be opening at Epcot this summer where the old Mouse Gear used to be. It sounds like a bright, airy place with a funky, Mickey-heavy vibe we can't wait to experience. Warning: Be sure to connect your Magic Bands to a credit card with a low limit before entering.   Also, Disney has built a gosh-darn REAL lightsaber! 'Nuff said.    Have a magical week!   Check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

Cali Claptrap: Integral Conversations

Luke Healy is a co-founder of the Integral Christian Network. The Integral Christian Network (ICN) is a global platform that invites practioners to deepen their connection to Christian spirituality through transpersonal practices, such as WeSpace groups, Integral Prayer and "Whole Body Mystical Awakening" guided meditations. As someone raised in the Catholic faith, the Christmas season has special meaning. Immersing myself in the integral community and practice has given me the perspective (or aperspective, if you prefer) to integrate the magical, the mythical, the mental structures of Christianity. "On Earth as it is in Heaven" is not only a prayer but a commitment. God should not be imprisoned in the mythical or dismissed as invalid in the mental. Jorge Fererr writes there are many shores on the Ocean of Emancipation. Christianity is but one. Luke answers the questions I have grappled with on my own Christian journey: Is it blasphemous to identify with Christ/God? How do we address the shadow/devil? How do we integrate womb/genitalia/Eros as Christians? ... And we discuss what the Christmas season mean to him. I took part in a WeSpace group in February/March of this year. If you identify as Christian and wish to deepen your practice subtly and communally, I'd highly recommend it. Warning: Be prepared to to activate the right-brained, intuitive, improvisational part of your brain! Lastly, to all of you: I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays. May 2021 be slightly better than 2020! You can find out more about Luke Healy and the Integral Christian Network here: https://www.integralchristiannetwork.org

Life is simple. You get out what you put in. But it's not that easy. You must be willing to do the hard work. And as you know, the easy part is wanting something different. The hard part is doing the work. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT So why does life have to be so challenging? Now, most would respond with all that is going wrong in their life. But what if you ask the question differently. What are you holding onto that you're unwilling to let go? You see, life is challenging. Things don't always go the way you want them. Dreams are put on the back burner. Yet if your focus is primarily on what is going wrong, where does that leave you? Nowhere close to success! You get out what you put in. So instead of coming up with excuses. Instead of leading with what you can't do, work with what you can do with all your heart. The K.I.S.S. ~ Work at life with all your heart! "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord..." ~ Colossians 3:23 However, most of us have been groomed as consumers. Everybody is listening to WIIFM (What's In It For Me). It's all about receiving. But how can you live out your destiny, your dreams, your purpose, your calling if you aren't willing to give? How would you like to live your life? A Giver A Taker Takers are always operating in the "Me mode". However, what if you were a giver? Not so much of giving to everyone else (yes, that is important), but giving to whom you are? Working within your strengths. Living out your purpose as best as you can. Impacting others because of your heart's cry. Would you get out something different as a giver than if you were a taker? Of course. So work at life with all your heart. 1. Sow your seeds. The seed must be planted so it can release the seed's potential, that is what's within you; gifts and talents. "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously." ~ 2 Corinthians 9:6 Be a giver. This is not about holding back and living amongst your excuses, faults, and failures. You are better than all of those. Be generous. Be a giver. 2. Open your heart. Be present in your day, in your comings and your goings. Be available to the open doors God places in your path. If you are always taking, you will miss many opportunities. Be the giver who is present, aware, and available. 3. Take A.I.M. You can talk all you want, but you must put action behind your words. Words have power while action ignites power. You were created on purpose for a purpose. Aren't you ready to live out your divine purpose? WARNING: Be very cautious. One thing that happens when you begin moving in the direction of your purpose, you begin to make excuses and fall back to what you can't do; what you are lacking. You begin to reason out in your head why you should not be doing what you know you should be doing. Work at life with all your heart. God is a multiplier. So lead with confidence knowing that God's got you! So back to the question. Are you a giver or a taker? Are you willing to bury the excuses and adopt the mindset of being generous, a giver's mindset? "Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"   #MindsetMonday #CreateYourNow #PersonalDevelopment TAKE A.I.M. ~ Action Ignites Motivation  - This is a complimentary (FREE) coaching call with me. On August 18, 2010 a 30 year old scuba diver went for a night dive in the underwater caves at Vortex Springs in Ponce De Leon, Florida and was never seen again. Extensive searches of the caves (which go over 115ft deep) by at least 16 professional recovery divers yielded absolutely no sign of the man, and have left many questions over the years about what happened to him. Did he get trapped underwater? Run out of oxygen? Was he really down in those caves when he disappeared, or did something else happen to him that night in 2010? 238: Staying sane: Let go of holiday expectations

Are you feeling a little overwhelmed? With holiday fun, holiday obligations and, uh, you're whole business to run? If so, you are not alone. This week we're going to talk about keeping your sanity and having as much fun as possible, while keeping your business going. We, as a community,  have been talking about staying sane during the holiday season since 2010, when I created the first version of the Holiday Sanity Guide. This comes up every year, because, guys, this season can be HARD. You've got more family responsibilities, more business responsibilities, and on top of all that, EXPECTATIONS of how it should all go. So I wanna talk about that today, how to handle your own expectations while still meeting your responsibilities. And if you're new here, or you're just really feeling the holiday stress, check out alllll the past posts and episodes in a Definitive Holiday Sanity Guide at the bottom of this post. First, you gotta acknowledge what is making the season hard: responsibilities and expectations. Sometimes we confuse the two, or we agree to unstated expectations, without really deciding if it's right for us or not. For our discussion Responsibilities are those things you really do need to do, or the things you owe other people. It may be that you see your family each year at the holiday, you promised that you would and it is important to you. You have a responsibility to your business to show up the way you promised to show up (whether that's delivering an order or publishing your podcast weekly). Take a minute and write down your responsibilities. The Holiday season also comes with all these expectations, about what you'll do but also how it will feel. We have stated and unstated expectations for both ourselves and for others (and other people have expectations for us), about both actions and feelings. For example,  maybe you expect that you'll bake a million cookies, or that you'll feel a certain way. OFTEN when I'm talking to someone about why they are stressed or not enjoying the season (or any season), it's NOT because of what they have to do (responsibilities) it's because of how they thought they'd feel (expectations) or the expectations of others. So how do you deal with this? Make everything explicit. Take a minute and write down all of your expectations of the holiday season. (You can do this any time of year, especially if you're doing something very exciting in your business). What do you hope to do? What do you hope to accomplish? How do you hope to feel? Where do you expect to go? And then meet with your loved ones and ask them what they expect of the holiday season, and of you. This "meeting" can be as formal or as informal as you like. You can do it around the dinner table tonight or you can call each of your sisters or parents up and ask them. One way to frame this is "I'd love to make this season wonderful for all of us, so I'd love to know: What are your expectations or hopes for this season? What matters most to you? Warning: Be sure you're only soliciting expectations from people you really desire to fulfill expectations of. (Hint: Maybe don't ask your never-happy-with-anything mother in law). Now! This is really important: You get to decide what expectations you take on! You get to agree, with your immediate family or friend group, what expectations you'll meet and which ones they'll meet. For example, maybe your kids really want a billion cookies but you don't like to bake, so your partner agrees to do cookie baking, or you reach out to another family member who would love to spend that time with your kids. Or maybe you have expectations of beautifully wrapped gifts under the tree - who is going to do that? Are you going to wrap them all? Do you want to ask for help? Could you maybe lower your expectations about beauty and let your 5 year old wrap some gifts? The examples I'm giving here are lighthearted, but I know the season can come with some heavy feelings of obligation. That's why I'm suggesting that you first make everything explicit, and then you spend the time to decide what expectation you want to meet and what you don't. Here are three principles for that sorting process. Focus on what matters to you What makes this season wonderful to you? What drives you crazy? Filter all the expectations through the values you care most about. Look back at your responsibilities, are some of them just expectations? Can you let some of them go? Maybe you take a week or two off from your weekly business obligations? The better you get at filtering things OUT, the happier your season (and your life!) will be. Let go....without guilt Once you've got your list of what matters, you gotta really, actually let go everything else. I'm serious. Just let it go. Will you disappoint some people? Yes. That's ok, that's part of life. Your job isn't to make everyone happy. It's to do your best and you can only do your best if you're taken care of. I'm going to remind you of one of the first holiday related videos I ever recorded - people's feelings and expectations aren't about you. It's about them. What people say to you or expect of you is about who THEY are. It has nothing to do with who you are. (Yes, they may be pointing it at you, but it's still about them). There is always more time. You don't have to have all the gifts purchased by Dec 25th, maybe you'll give friends gifts on the 27th? You don't have to reach your business goal by Dec 31, maybe you can reach it Jan 31? Or next spring? You have more time. The goal of your life isn't to cram everything into RIGHT NOW, it's to enjoy right now (because you might not actually have more time, and wouldn't you rather enjoy this while you know you have it?) and keep growing and learning. So let things unfold, let things go, and know that you can always do the thing when everyone's bored in Jan or Feb or next year. This process of focusing on what matters, letting go of the rest, and planning in a way that lets you enjoy where you are right now? This is the process of building a business and building a life. You're going to need to do this over and over, to keep realigning with what you really want and where you really want to go. If you'd like to do that in your business this year, and do it in a community with other makers who are making the same decisions and sharing the reality of that journey, check out the Starship. It opens Dec 27th and in it I guide you through figuring out what you want in the New Year, making a plan to get it, fixing your profitability so you CAN reach your money goals and improving your marketing so you can reach the right people. Dr. Friedman shares insights from his new book, Food Sanity, including his "common science meets common sense" approach to healthy eating in an unhealthy nation.Has all the contradiction on diet and nutrition left you feeling frustrated and confused? Should we follow a Paleo diet and eat like a caveman or go with a plant-based diet and eat like a gorilla? Should we starve ourselves on the latest intermittent fasting diet, or go on a ketogenic diet and eat a lot of fats and low carbs? What about grains? Are they good for us, or a leading cause of disease? Do eggs cause high cholesterol or lower it? All this confusion is enough to make your head spin! It’s the reason why Dr. David Friedman wrote his #1 National Bestselling book, Food Sanity: How to Eat in a World of Fads and Fiction. For 18 years as a syndicated television health expert and radio host, he’s interviewed hundreds of scientists, doctors and best selling authors hoping to share information to help his audience reach their optimal health. Unfortunately, each guest would contradict the previous expert, creating more confusion than clarity. While most health experts seem to disagree, there is one thing they all agree on, food has the power to heal the body or make it sick. The key is figuring out what should be at the end of our fork.In this episode, Dr. Friedman shares a common science meets common sense approach that puts an end to many of today’s food myths including: You don’t need to drink cow’s milk for strong bones. In fact, research shows it causes brittle bones! Beef doesn’t give us the protein humans require. Fish do not contain toxic levels of mercury and can be eaten every day! Eggs don’t cause high cholesterol, in fact, they lower it! Cavemen were mostly vegetarians and forensic evidence proves it! Grains (with gluten) reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, lowers blood sugar and aids in weight loss! Counting calories makes you gain weight. Salt (the right kind) isn’t bad for you. In fact, it reduces heart disease, lowers blood pressure and aids in weight loss. Some vitamin supplements are made from toxic ingredients also used to make gasoline, nail polish remover, laundry detergent and ammonia. Sarah and Dimity have heard from countless frustrated mother runners who have seen the number on the scale creep up instead of down while training for a half- or full marathon. So the gals talk to two guests about running and weight management. First up: sports dietician (and mother of two) Jackie Dikos, who talks about how to find a better balance that’ll make you feel satisfied, not deprived. Jackie also emphasizes the importance of “redefining rewards” for effort. Then the gals gab with Christy Zuzelo, another mother runner of two, but she’s cycled through 60-pound weight loss (and gain) three times. Training for her third marathon, Christy shares her tips for keeping excess weight off for good. (E.g. “If you bite it, you write it.”) Sarah and Christy bond over a shared love of Greek yogurt, and Dimity rants about yet another, “handful of frickin’ almonds.” Warning: Be prepared to drool while Jackie talks about cocoa-laced oatmeal, and when Christy shares her recipe for Lentil Chard Soup. What was discussed? Quote of the Day: “I'm not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions.” – Stephen Covey It is extremely important for a doctor or dentist to have an excellent online reputation, especially in today's world. According to internet research, 80% of Americans will use the internet and search for health related information. About 80-85% will trust an online review as much as a recommendation of a friend. Claim Your Profiles Go to these sites and set up your profiles - Doctor.com, Healthgrades, Yelp, RateMDs, Zocdoc, etc. Make sure you're on these sites so that you can get reviews! Make sure you have an updated profile and that it's consistent across all sites. Complete your profiles and make sure that you include images on your profiles so that people can make connections with you. Images are important in building trust, authority, and a good user experience. A complete profile should include contact information, your URL, how long you've been in practice, a description, languages, images, and services. Encourage Feedback People aren't just going to leave a review because you're amazing. You need to specifically ask for feedback from patients. Ask them to leave their comments and a review for you on your websites. Put a review site badge on your site where people can click a link and people can easily leave reviews. Having a Review Portal on your site makes it easier for everyone to locate the places to leave the reviews. Project a Friendly Image You want to be approachable, warm, and caring. Ensure that this image is consistent both in person and online. Be sure to train your staff to embody this same caring and friendly image as they are the first face that patients see when visiting your practice. Properly Manage Reviews Most businesses aren't going to get 100% positive reviews. If you're confronted with a negative review, make sure that you respond positively and professionally to the review. If you can find the person who left the review, contact them personally and resolve the issue. People are more likely to give you a second chance if you personally reach out to them, let them know how important they are, and let them know that you care. (Warning: Be sure to comply with HIPAA policies. Make sure that you do not confirm/deny that someone is in fact a patient.) Follow these steps to successfully navigate a negative review: 1.    Thank the reviewer 2.    Write your response in a human voice 3.    Apologize if necessary 4.    Address the issue 5.    Consider future readers Train Your Office Staff A lot of reviews don't have anything to do with the service you provide. A lot of reviews are about the experience they had with your office. That starts with your front office staff! Make sure that your staff is fully trained and is aware of the importance of your reviews. Provide Old-Fashioned Care We have social media and online presences, but it's the old-fashioned bedside manner and listening skills that dictate a great patient experience. Patients want to feel cared for and respected, and this should be the priority in every interaction. It's hard to please everyone, but it doesn't hurt to try to make everybody happy! Taurus – Stoner Astrological Horoscope

Stoner Taurus, the final Spring time period will be a positive time period, even if you may not realize it every moment. Cosmic forces have gathered to bestow upon the stoner Taurus a twinkle of luck in May. This blessing of fortune will be in relation to work and money, but at the very least it will also influence enjoyment of work and coworkers. There will also be evidence of “luck” in the stoner Taurus' love life in the May time period, but this sprinkle of luck may not be so easily recognizable upon first glance. Warning: Be sure to keep your cannabis activism and enjoyment separate from your work sphere in the May time period. Enjoyment of work and your coworkers will lead to a relaxed attitude. Coming together with coworkers and enjoying your work days will be a blessing, but understand the separation of work and play. There will be plenty of time to burn one down with your cannabis companions after the day of work is done. How exciting stoner Taurus! The May time period will bring the opportunity to expand your influence and reward in the workplace. Whether you work for the man and expand your role, or work for yourself and expand your empire; expansion is the key word presented to all stoner Tauruses in May. It is the sphere of love and companionship that becomes the most complex in May stoner Taurus. You will need the full vision of your third eye to gain patience and understanding through cloudy circumstances. Meditative smoke sessions will benefit the stoner Taurus tremendously in this regard. It will be imperative to see the unseen in matters of love and companionship. The sacred herb will help you see through the ambiguity of fake news, and understand the positivity available through truth. There may be a universal bait and switch on your plans with love and companionship. Things may not turn out in any way along the timeline or path you've laid out. Trust and understand that the cosmos is on your side with positivity despite any breaks in your immediate plans. http://stonerhoroscope.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/TaurusMay.mp3 Tweet
