John Machado shares his passion for the 12 steps with us and talked about a wide array of topics such as emotional maturity in early recovery, communication skills, and learning what true intimacy in a relationship is. The first step towards learning any hard lesson is always the hardest, and nothing that's worth it is going to come easy! There is a smooth flow as we chop it up together for a bit and I hope you connect with us as much as we did with each other. Welcome to the podcast! Today I'll be joined by Charlie LeVoir, the Co-host of The Way Out Podcast. With nearly 400 episodes, it has become wildly popular and ranks in the top 1%. Charlie has got to be one of my absolute favorite people to talk to about recovery, especially the 12 step program. He's got such deep knowledge of the literature, and addiction recovery in general. I really love talking to people who have put in the work to heal trauma. If you are just starting your recovery journey, I have a free guide that you can download from my website called “how to quit drinking: 30 tips for your first 30 days”. It includes strategies to deal with cravings, how to socialize sober, managing stress, and resources to gain the perspectives you need to change your relationship with alcohol. You can get a copy by visiting soberlifeschool.com And if you have been trying to get sober on your own, and you're just not able to get past 30 days, you might want to consider private 1:1 coaching. My coaching practice is usually full, but I have some availability coming up. You can book some time with me through Sober Life School to see if coaching is right for you. I'm really excited to share this conversation with you, so without further delay, please enjoy this episode with Charlie, and let me know what you think! Addiction Unlimited Podcast | Alcoholism | Life Coach | Living Sober | 12 Steps
Recovery fears are the absolute worst, because let's be real: all you want to do is get your life together and be present with your family, but you can't stop thinking about all the ways your life will change and wondering if you can handle it. This can also come in the form of not wanting to engage so much with friends because you are feeling torn between two lives and totally uncertain about what your future is going to look like. And I get it – I know that life, sober or not, isn't always rainbows and kittens, but you shouldn't be stuck in fear and letting it hold you back. You may know Charlie LeVoir from the Way Out Podcast where he talks about powerful sobriety topics and recovery stories to inspire your recovery journey. He was struggling with a drinking problem, but convinced his wife he could quit whenever he wanted to. In his attempt to moderate his drinking he almost lost a hand while carving the Thanksgiving turkey and that's when it all came crashing down. No more denial, no more convincing the wife, straight to treatment he went. Through working steps and doing trauma therapy Charlie shares how he had to straighten out all the relationships in his life that were confused and not right, including the relationship he had with himself. The major truths he had to face The counselor that set him straight And the realization that got him into recovery full-time Links mentioned in this episode: 30 Days to Fast Track Your Recovery: addictionunlimited.com/fasttrack Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/addictionunlimited Want to work with Angela?
