I AM NASCAR | Season 2: Episode 7Brandon Marshall, Channing Crowder and Chad Johnson sit down Frank and Warrick Scott of the Wendell Scott family and discuss the legacy of Wendell Scott and his impact on NASCAR and his community. Starting off, Frank discusses the making of the 1977 film Greased Lighting that tells the story of his father and stock car racer Wendell Scott. Frank shares that the movie has several deleted scenes in efforts to reach a broader audience. Because of this, Frank believes that the movie doesn't depict the true Wendell Scott Story and he and his son Warrick vow to tell their father's uncut story to the world. Frank goes on to share a quote he father shared with him as a young boy “Just because I lose a race, doesn't mean that I'm defeated”. Frank shares that he has always wanted to be a boxer and he uses this quote to share with Ocho to encourage him to keep training and fighting.Channing prompts the question of the pressures of upholding the legacy and name of their father Wendell. Warrick responded that there isn't any pressure because he grew up in a “pressure cooker” experiencing and hearing the hardships that his grandfather endured while still being successful. He goes on to share that his life work is solely dedicated to liberating his grandfather's legacy. Warrick and Frank go on to share untold stories of Wendall Scott and the hardships he endured during the civil rights movement as his career began to blossom. They shared how he often feared for his life before and after races and how he navigated a sport that didn't embrace people who looked like him. Warrick and Frank share their father's dream and how the birth of the Wendell Scott Foundation came to life. Warrick lays out the purpose and goals of the foundation to advocate and broker for young black kids going to college. In this loaded episode I get into Bubba Wallace becoming just the second black man to ever win the NASCAR Cup Series, and the first since 1963 when Wendell Scott took it. I also get into the mess that is the National Women's Soccer League with all the sexual allegations and coercion led by Paul Riley, leading to players standing in solidarity and speaking out. I also get into Tom Brady passing Drew Brees all time passing record, NBA news, & more on this loaded episode
Forgive us regulars, we don't normally talk NASCAR unless something really crazy happens. Like saying your ex is a trained Assassin (Look it up, we talked about it). But for just the second time in the sport's top flight history, a black man won a race. This in the same year Wendell Scott's family finally got the winner's trophy they denied him of back in 1963 by creating a scoring error, the sport being so afraid of the potential backlash of a black man winning in Florida. We talk about Bubba Wallace's historic win at Talladega at the top of the show. For this episode, we stay stateside for MotoGP in America. Only three things in life are certain. Death, Taxes, and Marc Marquez winning at the Circuit of the Americas. For the seventh time in eight attempts, the Spaniard took the holeshot, and never really looked back. In fact, it was one of his biggest American wins since joining the top flight. All this while the world's press was looking for any excuse to talk the man out of it… yet more proof none of us have any real idea what we're talking about. But we break down his incredible win at the top of the show. We also talk about Fabio Quartararo putting one hand on the title in 2nd, creating his first Championship point in three weeks' time in Misano. Ducati's also on the bill, with Jack Miller making a complete horlicks of his weekend, and getting involved in his third collision with Joan Mir this season. I think one more and Miller gets a free ¼ chicken at Nando's. Bumps were also the order of the day, because MAN COTA had them in spades. So much so the sports riders were demanding the race be shortened. They were brutal, borderline dangerous, and a fundamental problem with the track itself that we go into greater detail on, as multi-discipline facilities keep struggling with juggling cars, and bikes. But in the main event, we discuss the increasing danger in lightweight racing. This was a weekend taking place just a short week after the passing of World Supersport 300 rider Dean Berta Vinales. The third teenage fatality in the Dorna ladders in four months, and fifth since 2018. Many riders spoke out about needing more safety in the disciplines… and then we got a horrendous crash in a restarted Moto3 race, with Denis Oncu causing Jeremy Alcoba, Pedro Acosta and Andrea Migno to hit Alcoba's bike at 140mph. Denis, getting a 2 race ban for the trouble. We as a group discuss the crash, as well as what the sport could and maybe should do if it wants to make the sport safer, from shorter gearboxes, to more power, or maybe even age limits in the lower classes. Is there a conceivable solution? Watch and see. MotoGP returns to Misano in a fortnight's time, but until then, thanks for watching, and be sure to follow us on social media for more updates!

Brandon Brown tipped his Larry's Hard Lemonade back and drank it all in. He and his family team had just won at Talladega. It was in an unconventional way, but that's just fine with Brandon (5:45) and his unconventional family-run NASCAR Xfinity Series team Brandonbilt Motorsports based in Fredericksburg, Va. Brandon took the lead on the race's final caution, and when the race was called because of darkness, even as the emotions overcame him in the cockpit, he was more worried about driving across the finish line first and not messing up. He won it, though, and took home the big prize and the big trophy. He takes through every single moment of the victory: the pass for the lead, the caution and officially taking the lead, to the race being called and the celebration. But what's next for this family team and for his driving career? Let him tell you. We also dive into the momentous weekend at Talladega all around for Racing Virginia, with Bubba Wallace and 23XI's first Cup Series victory. It gave Chesterfield Va.'s Denny Hamlin his first win as an owner and Halifax Va.'s Bootie Barker his first Cup win as a crew chief. Wallace followed in the footsteps of Danville Va.'s Wendell Scott as the second Black driver to win a NASCAR race, as well, which is something everyone should celebrate, explains (host) Brandon Brown.
This week we delve into the Urban Meyer Situation in Jacksonville, Brady makes his first trip back to Foxborough, and Bubba Wallace becomes the first African-American to win a Nascar Cup Series race since Wendell Scott in 1963.

WallBuilders President Tim Barton dives into the roots of the 1619 Project and critical race theory. How did the racism of President Woodrow Wilson infect the progressive movement and education for over a century? On Tennessee Harmony, Pastor Anthony Walker looks at the Urban Meyer scandal through the lens of biblical truth. Richard Pryor, Pam Grier, and Cleavon Little star in Greased Lightning, the 1977 Biopic about Wendell Scott, the first African-American driver in NASCAR. The film takes a look at his life from his moonshiner days in the 40s through his near career ending wreck in the 70s, and doesn't shy away from showing all the hardships he faced pursuing his dream. We'll talk about the comedy, and serious, aspects of the story while setting a few things straight that the film got wrong. Trigger Warning: The film depicts several characters using slurs against Scott, and assaulting him.
