Banks slipped with ANZ Ex-dividend, the Big Bank Basket down to $261.90 (-0.5%). MQG pushed another 3.7% ahead, with other financials doing well. HMC is up 3.7%, and RPL is rallying 5.7%. ZIP was the standout, up 8.8%, with XYZ bouncing 5.9%. REITs sold off as rates moved higher, 10-year yields up to 4.43%. Defensive industrials fell, COL and WOW went down hard, TCL fell 2.2%, and TLS dropped 2.6%. Tech did well but off highs. WTC is up 4.9% and XRO modestly higher, up 1.7%, with the All-Tech Index up 3.1%. In resources, iron ore drifted back a little, BHP up 2.1% and FMG up 2.7% with base metal stocks also in demand, MIN up 9.8% and LTR up another 3.5%. S32 had a great day up 5.6%. Gold miners were sold off on bullion weakness. NST was down 4.6%, with NEM down only 1.8% as EVN fell 5.3%. LYC dropped 3.8%on rare earth supply from China resuming. Oil and gas stocks are better, WDS up 3.7%, and STO rallying another 2.9%. Uranium stocks paused. Coal was a happy place, WHC up 3.2%. In corporate news, RIC successfully raised $125m to buy DNL's fertilizer distribution business. PNV is doing well on diabetes trials, and ALD rose 2.2% as it sold an NZ business. ASK rejected a takeover offer from Ki. On the economic front, consumer sentiment lifted on election results. The ASX 200 closed up 74 to 8071 in another strong day pushing to a two-month high. Up 0.9%. All sectors firing, the banks did well with NAB up % and WBC up % as the Big Bank Basket crept to $261.14 (0.4%). Financials also in demand, PNI up 2.3% PPT up 3.1% and MQG up 0.8%. AMP continues to push higher, up another 3.6%. Insurers and REITS firmed, GMG up 1.6% and SCG rising 0.9% with SUN better by 0.7%. Industrials better across the board, BXB bounced back 1.5% with CPU up 1.9% and ORG rising 3.2%. Retail stocks also in demand again, JBH up % and TPW rising %. Travel stocks also better, CTD up 4.3% leading the pack. Healthcare pushed back up too, PME up 2.7% and TLX recovering a little. In resources, iron ore miners gained with FMG quarterly and a broker upgrade helping it rise 5.8% with S32 up 2.6%. The gold sector recovered some of its recent losses with GMD up 5.1% and BGL rising 4.0%. NST quarterly disappointed on production guidance and fell 4.7%. Heavily shorted resource company also squeezed a lot higher, MIN up 13.2% after its quarterly, uranium stocks continue to power ahead, PDN up 8.5% with BOE up 14.3%. Lithium plays also in demand, LTR up 5.6%.  WDS rallied 1.5% on its big US LNG project FID. In corporate news, EDV got a new CEO, WHC rose on quarterly production report, AIA fell as it announced it would delay a second runway. Nothing on the economic front. ASX 200 gives up gains to close down 3 points at 7759 as US futures turn down on Nvidia news. Banks as usual a safe place to be, the Big Bank Basket up to $252.55 (1.0%). WBC up 1.5% and MQG unchanged. Financials mixed, ZIP rising 16.2% on a very positive update and upgrades. REITS firmed with SCG up 1.2% and VCX up 0.5% whilst GMG fell 0.5%. Industrials were weaker, SGH down 1.5%, GYG fell 3.5% and FLT off 2.3%. Retail stocks eased back, LOV down 2.5% and AX1 off 6.3%. Tech fell, the All-Tech Index dropped 0.6% as WTC announced Richard White had a new role. Same as the old role really. XRO fell 1.2%. Resources were slipping again, iron ore miners fell, BHP down 1.2% with RIO off 2.7% and FMG falling 2.4%, Gold miners soared as quarterlies are pointing to the cash piling up, GMD up 8.4% and EVN kicking 1.3% higher again. Energy stocks under pressure, WDS down 2.3% and WHC falling 7.4% with uranium stocks once again on the nose, the fallout continues, PDN down 4.6% and BOE off 4.6%. In corporate news, BOQ up 5.5% on higher margins, SGR trading again unchanged as the rescue plan continues to play out. KAR up 1.6% after raising expenditure guidance. In economic news, Chinese GDP beat estimates. Locally building activity fell, the total number of dwelling units commenced fell 4.4% to 41,911 dwellings. It was a solid start to the week, with the ASX 200 up 102 points to 7749 (1.3%). Strong banks and resources are taking us up. The Big Bank Basket rallied to $248.77 (+1.6%). CBA was up 1.7%, and WBC was up 1.6%. Insurers also better with MQG flat as some downgrades coming through. REITs rallied hard, GMG up 2.4% and SCG up 1.8%. Industrials were better but lagged, WES up 1.1% and SGH up 2.7% with the supermarkets flat, retail rose, LOV up 2.4% and JBH rallying 2.4%. Travel stocks were a little better, tech doing well, WTC up 3.1% and XRO rising 2.3% with the All-Tech Index up 2.1%. TLS slipped a little. In resources, iron ore miners rose, BHP up 2.7%, RIO up 1.4% with the gold miners pushing up although gold saw some profit taking. NEM up 4.5% with EVN up 2.6%. MIN had a good day as some shorts covered again, PLS rallied 3.3% with IGO up 3.2%. Oil stocks inched up WDS up 1.1% and STO up 1.8% with uranium and coal stocks better, WHC up 4.8% and DYL up 3.9%. In corporate news, NEU jumped 21.1% on a positive end point for its Phase III trial. DEG up 1.6% as GOR will vote in favour of the NST deal. The ASX 200 rose 167 points to 7510 in a Tuesday turnaround. Buoyed by hopes that the tariffs are still negotiable and the US futures showing a good start at least. The market rallied across the board with a special shout out to resources with BHP up 2.3% and FMG gaining 3.5%. Gold miners were also better despite bullion falling as quarterlies beckon. NST ran 5.0% ahead, EVN bounced 5.0% and NEM up 2.7%. Lithium stocks rallied on hopes for more EV stimulus in China, PLS up 5.4% and LTR up 8.1%, short covering helped. In the uranium space, BOE saw shorts in play up 11.0% and WDS rallied 3.3% with STO up 5.4%. Coal stocks also did well, WHC up 8.7%. Banks were solid with the Big Bank Basket up to $237.69 (+2.2%). CBA up 2.8% and MQG bouncing another 3.8%. Financials generally much stronger, GQG up 6.2% and XYZ up 8.6%. ZIP announced a $50m buyback and rallied 6.7%. RETs firmed,  GMG up 0.4%. Industrials were strong across the board, WES up 3.0% with JBH up 3.4% and REA doing well up 4.6%. SGH rallied 4.3% with healthcare stocks also in demand, COH up 1.2% on tariff relief, SIG up 5.3%. The extreme knee jerk reaction on the promises in the Rose Garden saw banks back on the defensive buyers list and companies with little or no overseas exposure did better. CBA rose 1.0% with the Big Bank Basket up to $251.54 (0.2%). ANZ had a shaky start after moves to increase its capital requirements, closing down 1.4% with MQG on the nose off 2.9%. Financial services copped it with GQG off 5.2% and PPT down 4.8%. ZIP remained undone as US consumer confidence woes will continue. NWL hit hard off 8.7%. REITs also reversing some recent gains, GMG off 3.7% and CHC down 4.7%. Healthcare stocks found buyers, CSL up 1.0% and PME rising 2.0%. Industrials eased, WOW and COL better on defensive buyers, WES up 0.3% and REA doing better, up 0.9%. Tech followed US tech lower, WTC off 2.7% with XRO falling 3.4%. The All-Tech Index down 1.2%.Resources were hurt badly, BHP down 3.4% and RIO off 2.7% with MIN falling 9.5% and PLS down another 6.8%. Gold miners were boosted by bullion price rises on tariff uncertainty, NEM up 2.3% and NST up 2.1%. SPR rose 4.4% with WGX also better. Oil and gas stocks fell hard, WDS down 2.9% and BPT off 2.9%. WHC dropped 7.6% on broker downgrades and uranium still toxic, PDN down 1.3%. In corporate news, TWE reassured no impact from tariffs. CTT smacked 14.5% on serious impact from rising tariffs.Nothing on the economic front although the RBA released its financial stability report. Asian markets fared better than some feared, with Japan down 3.5%. China down 0.4% and HK off 1.6%. AUD stable with bond yields falling to 4.24% in the 10's. Wall St closed lower overnight as Donald Trump announced a new 25% tariff on auto imports into the United States. The Dow Jones fell 0.31%, the S&P 500 lost 1.12% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq dropped by over 2%.In terms of US stocks, Meta Platforms and Amazon lost more than 2%, Alphabet closed more than 3% lower and Tesla closed nearly 6% in the red.Over in Europe, markets closed lower as investors react to new tariffs implemented over in the US. The STOXX600 dropped 0.7%, led by autos which fell by 2.6%. Germany's DAX lowered 1.17%, the French CAC closed nearly 1% lower, whilst over in the UK, the FTSE100 rose by 0.3%.Locally yesterday, the ASX200 rose by 0.71% with all but one major sector closing in the green. Gains were led by the consumer staples and real estate sectors which rose by 1.19% and 1.15% respectively. This was offset by the health sector which fell by over half a percent by the closing bell.Monthly inflation data was released yesterday coming in at 2.4% for February. This was lower than consensus of 2.5% and the forecast of 2.6%. The CPI falling is a good thing for the RBA's outlook for rate cuts to come as inflation drivers are all moving in the right direction – wages price inflation came down, GDP uptick, retail sales easing and the unemployment rate ticked back up to 4.1% which is favourable for the rate cut journey.What to watch today:The Australian share market is set to open lower with the SPI futures suggesting a fall of 0.46% at market open this morning.On the commodities front this morning,Oil is trading 1.36% higher at 69 US dollars and 94 cents a barrel, as investors increase concerns over tight oil supply.Gold fell by just 0.04% to 3019 US dollars an ounce and iron ore is trading 0.03% lower at 102 US dollars and 18 cents a tonne.Trading Ideas:Bell Potter maintains a buy rating on Whitehaven Coal (ASX:WHC) and has a 12-month price target of $7.70. The buy rating is maintained by Bell Potter as their balance sheet will significantly de-risk with the Blackwater selldown completion in late March 2025. As well, further productivity enhancements across WHC's Queensland portfolio should support higher production, hence the buy rating is maintained.Trading Central has identified a bullish signal on Perseus Mining (ASX:PRU), indicating that the stock price may rise from the close of $3.23 to the range of $3.53-$3.61, on a pattern formed over 8 days, according to the standard principles of technical analysis.

The All-Tech Index down 0.5%. Retail weaker, PMV down 2.9% with NCK off 2.0% and MYR down 2.1%. WES rose as did JBH.Resources were a mixed bag of lollies. BHP fell 0.6% with FMG up 3.2% on some broker upgrades. Gold miners were mixed, VAU down 3.2% with NST off 1.3% and BGL dropping 12.8% on change in substantial holding. MIN bounced 6.9% as the haul road reopened. Oil and gas flat, coal eased, NHC down 4.4% and WHC off with uranium sellers back. BOE down 3.5% and DYL falling 1.8%. In corporate news, JHX announced a huge US merger and dropped 14.5% on the news. HLI fell 25.6% as CBA said it may not renew its contract. Oil stocks formed, WDS up 1.9% and coal better too, WHC up 2.5% with uranium stocks finding a little love. In corporate news, the NAB CFO has switched banks to WBC, SMP jumped 47.1% on news TYR and another was looking at a bid. REITs fell as GMG returned to trade down 5.0% after the $4bn capital raise. Industrials were mixed, ALL dropped 4.3% despite a new buy back, WES rose 1.3% on good results, TLS also did well, up 5.6% after announcing a buy back. Retail stocks suffered, JBH down 4.2% and BRG falling 3.0%. CTD continued the positive vibes from the results up 4.7%. UNI did very well on results up 9.7%. In healthcare, PME dropped 3.7% and CSL down 2.3%. Resources suffered as RIO cut its dividend, falling 1.5% and BHP fell 2.0% as FMG were savaged on results, down 6.2%. Lithium stock surprisingly rose after PLS results, up 6.0% and oil and gas stocks rose, WDS up 1.0% and STO rising 2.1%. Coal stocks gained 8.9% on WHC results. Uranium stocks were mildly lower. In corporate news, MAF rose 8.7% on good numbers, WTC in a trading halt on governance issues. MP1 had stellar gains on beating expectations. Casualties included, SUL, MFG, and MGH. On the economic front, jobs data came in as expected at 4.1% unemployment and record participation. Asian markets fell, Japan under pressure on proposed car tariffs. In corporate news, SEK stabilised after lifting its dividend, DRR fell 2.6% after net profit slipped, AZJ rose 0.6% on plans to consider breaking up the business. CBA set the tone and gained 2.5%, with other banks following in its wake, the Big Bank Basket up to $272.97 (+2.0%). MQG found some love from brokers, up 1.7%, and SUN delivered a special dividend up 1.3%. GQG continued higher by 1.7% with MFG going down 2.7%. BVS knocked the lights out with its results up 18.6%, and CPU also doing well on upgrades to guidance, up 15.5%. REITs mixed but uneventful despite yields pushing higher, CQE continued to gather fans up 2.9% after the good result yesterday. Industrials firmed, supermarkets were better, WOW and COL doing ok. SGH continued to grind higher on broker upgrades, up another 2.8%, and REA rose 1.5%. Healthcare seems to be struggling with US concerns on cutbacks, with PME down 1.2% and TLX off 1.0%. CSL stumbling around but trying hard to find fans, In resources, the Three Amigos were mixed, FMG up and RIO down. Gold miners took a breath, NEM down 2.5% ahead of Barrick results tonight, EVN delivered on promise and rose 1.1%. Lithium miners still squirming, MIN off 2.4% and PLS up 0.5%. Oil and gas stocks were slightly firmer as STO upgraded its reserves, uranium slipping slightly and coal not such a merry old soul, WHC off 2.7%. In corporate news, AGL rose 0.2% on better numbers, and AOV fell 7.1% on less than GUD results. On the economic front, lending indicators today. The Big Bank Basket rose to $268.42 +0.2%) MQG slipped slightly with GQG down 1.3% with insurers steady. REITs better on lower 10-year yields, GMG up 0.6% and CHC up 0.5%. Industrials were mixed, and REA kicked 2.8% on broker upgrades. WES slid 1.1% with retail firm, PMV up 1.2% and SUL up 2.6%. Travel stocks also in demand, WEB up 2.6% and CTD rising 3.3%. DMP rose 21.3% like a cheesy crust as store closures were announced in Japan. Finally. Healthcare on the nose as RMD continues to stagger around after quarterly, down another 2.6%. CSL off 1.1% and PME falling 1.5%. Resources were generally weaker, though iron ore miners rose, BHP up 0.6% and FMG up 1.9%. Gold miners saw some profit taking, NST down 2.4% and WGX off 2.0%. Rare earths LYC up 6.1% on Chinese fears, and lithium stocks walloped as CATL rumoured to be reopening a lepidolite mine. PLS down 4.3% and LTR off 4.4%. Energy stocks fell, STO down 0.9% and WHC down 3.9% with uranium under pressure. In corporate news, MMS fell 10.4% on a broker downgrade, and NCK rose 10.5% on better-than-expected results. SIG guided up and rose 3.2%. Nothing locally on the economic front. ASX 200 rallied 39 points to 8231 (0.5%) with a better US market giving us the lead. Banks though were once again weaker as resources continued to find buyers. All change for 25! BHP rose 1.4% on stronger iron ore prices, FMG rallied 2.9% with gold miners also better despite falling bullion prices, a broker report helping sentiment. NST up 1.9% and EVN up 1.3% with lithium stocks finding friends, MIN up 2.0% and LYC up 1.6%. Energy stocks once again better, WDS up 0.5% and coal and uranium stocks better, PDN up 3.4% and WHC up 6.6%. Banks slipped ever so slightly with the Big Bank Basket at $249.96 (-0.3%). Insurers rose and other financials mixed. PNI down 1.9% and ZIP falling 1.4%. REITs improved with GMG up 0.4% and SCG rising 1.1%. Industrials better, retail though still under pressure. JBH off 1.6% and PMV and MYR both down again. Travel stocks in demand, FLT up 0.6% and CTD up 2.2%. Tech still under a little pressure with the All-Tech Index up 0.4% with WTC off 1.3%. In corporate news, MSB raised more money at 250c, CCX jumped 14.6% on a trading update. Iron ore surged back over $100 a tonne as Chinese imports reached a record. No local economic news. The banks fell with CBA down 2.3%, ANZ dropped 2.6% as the AGM saw another shareholder strike against Shayne Elliott. The Big Bank Basket fell to $253.85 (-2.3%). MQG down only 1.3% with some insurers up on the day, QBE up 2.1% with MPL rallying 0.5%. REITs were sold down on higher rates, GMG down 2.3% and SCG off 1.2% with industrials under pressure. Retail fell as JBH dropped 2.4% with LOV down 3.2% and WES off 1.3%. WOW fell 1.3% but COL rose 0.3%. Tech stocks came under pressure, REA down 2.5% and WTC off 2.2% with XRO falling 2.6%. In resources, most rallied off lows, BHP down 1.5% and FMG falling 3.9%. Gold miners under pressure on bullion falls but in AUD terms, it held steady, EVN down 2.8% and NEM off 3.6%. Energy stocks fell, WDS down 1.9% despite a deal with Chevron, WHC dropped 4.0% and PDN rose 1.3% as Canadian authorities cleared the Fission bid. DYL hammered 12.1% as the FID was postponed until early next year. In corporate news, MSB went ballistic, up 54.0% on FDA approvals, IPL fell 2.9% on its AGM update. PMT rose 15.9% on a deal with VW. AGL fell 0.7% as a court ordered it to pay $25m over customer failings. In economic news, Australian household wealth increased by 2.4% in the September quarter.  The BoJ left rates unchanged. ASX 200 slipped 30 points to 8393 (-0.4%) as investors switched from the high flyers to resources following the news yesterday from China. Banks saw selling pressure with CBA down 1.1% and NAB sliding 2.8% with the Big Bank Basket down to $256.99  (-1.5%). MQG off 1.9% with insurers under pressure too. High-flying platform stocks also in sell-down mode, with HUB and NWL down. REITs under pressure, GMG off 2.2% and SCG down 1.7%. Tech too in the seller's sights, WTC off 4.4% and XRO falling 4.4%. The All-Tech Index dropped 3.55%. REA took a tumble as did CAR and SEK. In media stocks, NWS saw Murdoch senior thwarted in a Nevada court. Industrials and retail slipped slightly.  Resources saw strong buying across the board, though gains moderated from intraday highs. BHP up 3.1% and FMG rallying 6.2% with PLS bouncing hard together with MIN. Gold miners back in demand, GMD hitting 52-week highs. NEM up 2.4% and EVN up 5.0%. Even oil and gas stocks rose, KAR up 5.3% with uranium in-demand, PDN up 2.0%, and WHC doing well too, up 3.5%. In corporate news, PPT dropped 8.4% on an ATO issue that could see the Barbarians at the gate slam it shut. IAG fell after being hit with a class action in Victoria. In economic news, the RBA kept rates unchanged, but we saw a slight softening of language. Hikes seem to be off the table now. ASX 200 hits new records up 24 points to 8418 (0.3%). Some profit taking creeping in, but US Treasury appointment helping sentiment. Banks paused for breath with CBA up 0.7% and ANZ slipping 1.3% with the Big Bank Basket down to $264.99 (). Financials and insurers though better, SUN flat and ASX rallying 1.8%. REITs rallied hard on easing 10-year yields, GMG up 1.5% and SCG up 2.8%. Healthcare too in demand, CSL bouncing 1.7% with PME AGM providing a solid backdrop, up 2.7%. Industrials too stronger, WES up 1.9% and retail doing well, JBH up 0.4% and LOV rallying 2.4% on broker comments. Tech better, WTC up 0.8% and XRO up 0.9% with the All-Tech Index up %. Resources back in the doghouse as iron ore prices remain under pressure in Asia, RIO down 0.4% and base metals and lithium off too. PLS down another 3.8% with gold miners under the hammer too, NST off 1.6% and EVN down 1.0%. Oil and gas mixed and coal eased, WHC off 2.5%.  In corporate news, some M&A activity in small caps with SWF agreeing to a revised BFG bid, BTH getting another bid, SGF getting a good NBIO from PEP. IPO CCL hit the bourse and fell 7.6% on debut. Good to see that code back! Nothing locally on the economic front, China kept one- year rates unchanged. ASX 200 recovered from a cautious start to close up 15 points to 8300 (+0.2%) as iron ore futures kicked back above $100. BHP up 0.7% and RIO rallying 2.2%. Resources generally were solid as uranium stocks glowed hot after moves by Russia to limit exports. PDN rose 5.5% DYL up 7.0% and BOE up 7.3%. Gold too rallied with NST up 2.5% and EVN rallying 2.6% on better commodity prices and Chinese stimulus hopes. MIN a standout up 5.8% with PLS dragging the chain in the lithium space down 2.2%. Oil and gas slightly firmer, WDS up 0.4% and coal doing well, WHC up 3.3% with NHC also 2.3% better. Banks were mixed, news on NAB being sued by ASIC and leaks over a regional levy didn't help. CBA down 1.4% and NAB off 0.2% with the Big Bank Basket $257.88 (-0.8%). Insurers and financials were better again, MQG up 0.2% and SQ2 rising 1.9%. REITS mostly better, and industrials firmed. WES up 0.4% and ALL up 0.5%. Retailers a little subdued with LOV down 3.8% on a broker downgrade on store openings and CTD rising 2.3% on Conference pick. Healthcare was an interesting space with CSL down again as RFK Jnr appointment to US Department of Health would be sub optimal. Not a great lover of vaccines and looking to rip costs out of the system. Other biotechs feeling some pain as well. In corporate news, 360 fell 6.7% as the founder offloaded a parcel. NHC provided an upbeat guidance, CUV bounced 2.2% on a shift in business focus. RSG fell 5.6% after announcing a sort of settlement with the Mali government. ELD launched a rights issue and an acquisition, coupled with disappointing numbers. Nothing on the economic front, Goldman Sachs lowered its forecast for Australia's economic growth in 2025, due to “negative spillovers” from the incoming Trump term. LA Knight wins the SummerSlam Battle Royal but also gets redemption from a botched spot the night before on SmackDown. LA Knight wins Battle Royal but not before hitting Sheamus with the Belly-to-Belly Suplex off the top rope at SummerSlam. Bianca Belair despite a 'leg injury', pins Asuka to win WWE Women's Championship. However, Iyo Sky would capitalize on that leg injury by cashing in MITB Briefcase & winning the Women's Title. DT/KC address where Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair go from here, who Iyo Sky should feud with first, reports of Kairi Sane return, and the future of Damage Ctrl. Seth Rollins and Finn Balor told a great story in their match. However, the Judgement Day involvement was clunky and would cost Balor a possible WHC win. The friction between Damian Priest & Finn Balor intensifies. Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey tried, but their MMA offense was too watered down. An unfortunate 'arm injury' to Shayna hurt momentum the match started to build. DT/KC explain why WWE should not consider future MMA Rules matches. DT/KC also believe those saying Ronda is 100% gone from WWE may be a bit premature. Ricochet and Logan Paul put on a banger. Drew McIntyre and Gunther make mincemeat of each other.
